Love the dark and chill vibes in here. I usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are very attentive and knowledgeable. I always have a good experience here. Steaks are cooked to my liking - I get medium and each steak has been a perfect temp. I've had the waygu - it was good but not the quality of waygu I've had many times before. The 12 ounce filet is just as good, if not better. Bread has a slight onion/everything bagel flavor that's a perfect compliment to the smooth and soft butter. Once of my fav dishes to get at a steakhouse is the bacon steak. If you see my photos, you can see that they switched up the recipe. Originally it was bacon steak with warm arugula salad - which was actually really good. Their NEW recipe has bacon steak slices on crispy rice (or some starch). I much prefer the new recipe and it gives a little more depth that's easy to enjoy as the consumer - good job chef . Drinks are always amazing here too. The experience was phenomenal! I've been twice now once was before a show at the Keller and the second time was for Valentine's Day week. They are great about time management when they come see you they ask if you have plans to jet off to; if you want that lava cake for dessert you need a half hour for it to heat up! They did great for our anniversary celebration (yay 15 years!) and they make you feel special. The mood lighting is nice and I can't wait to go back and enjoy the nice space. read more

Way too much Angostora. I switched to a bottled beer. Took the Server's advice on steak and it wasn't quite what I had expected. I asked my Server to confirm this was a Ribeye, he did, but also gave the of beef a sideways look. If the birthday boy sends back his drink and expresses concerns over the quality of beef, most restaurants would have a Manager visit the table. Nope. Drank my beer picked around the less edible parts of the steak. Spoke to Manager who was hanging out with the Hostess most of the time we were there. This was my first steakhouse experience and it was very nice. Our server Matt was very personable and charismatic. The acoustics inside somehow made it very difficult to hear each other from across the table and our server too. They start you out with a loaf of bread and butter. The bread is very fluffy and soft. The shrimp calabria's sauce is incredible and comes with four large shrimp. The smoked Gouda potatos were very flavorful. The lobster mac & cheese has a nice crunchy texture added to it. The asparagus was really well done and juicy, which I appreciated greatly since many places make it dry. I was in a group of six celebrating a friend's graduation on Saturday night, and the service by Rocky (or Rockie, or possibly Rocki) was phenomenal. She was welcoming and took our many, many allergies very seriously. She knew the menu and all of the ingredients which kept us from getting sick. It had lots of salty garlic on it which was a little bit too much for me but the bread underneath was pretty good. Came with a nice dish of butter. The bread was quite crumbly as the waiter admitted and I guess it would've been nice if they had one of those crumb scraping tools that I've seen other nice restaurants just a suggestion - not a criticism. Was served a Stella Artois beer - nice and cold, was very good. Caesar salad - the dressing was not creamy enough. The salad was a little bit less than super tasty overall. The 8oz. filet mignon medium rare came out perfectly. Every bite was superb. The spinach and mushroom sauté was also delicious - it had a nice garlic butter sauce. Interesting combination. The restaurant is classy and fancy. We (my cousin and I) arrived with no reservation on a Monday night, almost at closing. I was a little worried I was not appropriately dressed for the restaurant but I was worried for nothing. I had on dark clothing and a fancy jacket. We requested a voter booth to the host and were promptly seated. The dining area is huge, plenty of space. This would be a good place to host business meetings. Our waiter was cordial and explained the menu to us. My cousin has been here before; she loves the steak here. She let the waiter know that we would be sharing and ordered us a chefs selection of oysters and scallops for our appetizers. For our sides, we ordered Parmesan & truffle matchstick fries, roasted jumbo asparagus, lobster pasta, Cajun prime rib, and creme brûlée for dessert. Our waiter asked if we wanted bread for the table but we politely declined. He was nice enough to bring us some anyways. Our appetizers were delicious, especially the oysters. Very unique blend of flavor. Our dinner was served in a timely manner. Everything was great and complemented well with each item on the menu. The prime steak was medium rare as we asked, very juicy. We popped in around 5 for drinks at the bar before the Sailor Moon show across the street in March. We had some time to kill before our 630 dinner reservation. We were greeted kindly, and felt super welcomed, with the staff prepared to chat about Sailor Moon. Which I thought was a wholesome touch, knowing the type of restaurant/bar goers they'd have for the day. We sat at the bar for a few minutes and a table opened earlier for us to move over to. The food was absolutely delicious! My friend and I got the lobster mac and cheese, the Wagyu meatballs (forgot to get a photo), their gratin, and one of their steaks to split family style. After ordering our drinks and food, they brought over bread and butter for the table. We both thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered, including the drinks! The lobster mac and cheese had a good amount of lobster, and it was balanced well with the creamy cheese sauce. My friend isn't a huge fan of seafood but she was pleasantly surprised with how tasty it was. The steak was requested to be cooked medium rare, and was done fantastic. The vibe is a very dim lit, overall relaxing enjoyable environment to be in for a date, get together, and I even saw families celebrating birthdays. I was here for my birthday and hadn't been here for over a decade. It used to be an exceptional experience but that has changed. We were seated at a table for 2 which was to small and uncomfortable despite the many tables and booths wide open for our entire visit. We also were dressed up and followed the required dress code, however, the adjacent table for 4 was given to two people who were wearing tee shirts, jeans and tennis shoes that wreaked of pot. My eyes literally were burning ! The service was good, the seafood was good but the steak was far below standard which was why I was here to begin with ... it's a "best in class" steak house, right ? For $800, you'd think that everything would be perfect including the steak ! I will never come here again and I suggest you do the same. So many other better places than here. Been here several times, and holy mole, the service has fallen off a cliff. No joke, Denny's service is much better than Morton's now. The food is good, but for the price tag, it's not a find.... Particularly when they mess the order - the ribeye ordered medium was rare, and the wagyu ordered med-rare was medium. Bring this to their attention, and they just say, huh, and offer no solution. Their cheaper filet mignon last time was better than their high-end filet mignon this time. We have always enjoyed the hot bread appetizer, but it took at least 25 mins to arrive after ordered, which was also one minute before the steaks arrived. We were told it was because the bread just came out of the oven, yet it was barely warm when it arrived. After finishing a wagyu beef cut they brought out a squirt of whip cream in a dessert cup with a mini candle sticking out of it for our birthday dinner ... at least that gave us a pretty good laugh at how unserious it was. The last time I ate at Dennys, the service was markedly better than here at Morton's. They check in with you more than on half hour intervals. We had a party of seven last night for dinner. It happened to be Portland dining month so there was a special menu. Half of the items on the menu had been sold out which was very disappointing. The waiter did not offer alternatives. We had ordered steaks with sides of french fries, onion rings, cream, spinach, and creamed corn. The spinach and corn came lukewarm, and the french fries and onion rings did not come until after we've already finished our steaks. The oysters Rockefeller again were lukewarm. We had to ask the waiter three different times to bring salt to the table. They told us they were understaffed and had an unexpected party of 24 people. All in all this was a disappointing experience. I had never been to Morton's and thought it would be a fabulous meal. It was mediocre with poor service. read more

We were really looking forward to trying Morton's The Steakhouse for the first time, especially after hearing so many great things. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected. The wait time for our food was extremely long -- we spent about 2.5 hours at the restaurant, mostly just waiting for our dishes. We received our first two plates around 7:40 PM, and the remaining three didn't arrive until 8:30 PM. On top of that, two out of the five dishes arrived cold, including the Wagyu dumplings and the truffle fries We had also ordered the Maine lobster ravioli, only for our server to later tell us that we couldn't get it because a party of 60 had ordered all of it, and the kitchen was unable to make another portion for us. That was really disappointing. While we understand that large parties can slow things down, we still expected properly timed and properly prepared dishes -- especially at a restaurant with Morton's reputation. The long waits, cold food, and unavailable menu item made the whole experience feel far from worth it. Overall, this was a very underwhelming first visit, especially after coming here from California. I hope it was just an off night, but based on this experience, I can't recommend it. read more

Came here for my birthday dinner. Ordered the Cajun Ribeye with Black Truffle Butter. The seasoning wasn't spicy but rather it offered a nice smoky flavor profile that took this ribeye to the next level. We also ordered the Filet Mignon with garlic butter. Both steaks came out exactly as we requested and I think the winner was the Cajun Ribeye. Ordered a side of the sour cream mashed potatoes (very good) and the truffle fries (hard pass, these were like shoestring fries and not good). The service was bougie and definitely exceeded my expectations. Anna was our server and took excellent care of us, along with the rest of the staff. Never had to refill my wine or water glass myself. The small details like having "happy birthday" on top of our menus was a nice touch. I was served a delicious strawberry cheesecake that had what I can only describe as a crème brûlée style top to it. Absolutely mind blowing and such a different texture to your typical cheesecake. They did have an excellent selection of wines by the bottle. I couldn't find a wine list prior to arriving but they have you covered. I set out with a friend to visit Morton's for a celebration, and overall the visit was a success. We ordered quite a lot of food, and together we valiantly did serious damaged to everything :-) First up, let's talk about the appetizers. We shared both the Maine Lobster Ravioli and the Baked French Onion Soup. The lobster ravioli was our hands-down favorite of the two. It came in three pieces, which all taken together weren't quite enough to satisfy us - we almost ordered a 2nd helping. I'm glad we didn't though, or we never would have made it through all that food (our eyes were decidedly bigger than our tummys) The most addictive component of the lobster ravioli is the sauce; it's creamy, with a subtle, slightly complicated flavor profile which is just perfect - especially when you use the complimentary fluffy bread to soak it up. Service was excellent, with our very friendly waitress providing spot-on recommendations, and seeing to it that our glasses never quite made it to empty. While we ordered everything in no particular order, she brought everything out in waves with the appetizers 1st, and the entrees following once we'd finished the starters. We ordered and shared two entrees, the Prime Bone-in Ribeye and the Nueske's Bacon Strip. The Rib-eye was unquestionably the best of the two. It's a 22 oz. portion; we requested it to be served medium-rare, which resulted in the meat coming out just a bit red in the center and not too chewy; it was easy to cut through and super tender, with the surface just a bit crispy and slightly charred. This Rib-eye is probably the best version of that dish I've enjoyed in recent memory. On the other hand, the Bacon Strip looked good when they brought it out, but the taste didn't delivery on that promise; while the glaze had a noticeable pineapple flavor, it ended up tasting exactly like ham; a bit of maple glazed or brown sugar flavor would have elevated its flavor profile profile. Using the more is better principle, we ordered several different sides, but the only one I'd order again is the Smoked Gouda and Bacon au Gratin Potatoes. This dish has outstanding cheesy flavor, and the potatoes are creamy and soft :-) When we'd finally finished our entrees, we decided to shared an order of Chocolate Lava Cake. It was completely exceptional, but after that huge meal the two of us couldn't completely finish our dessert. That's not a reflection on the cake or its ingredients - the fudge inside the cake is decadent and rich, with the ice cream adding just the necessary touch to mellow out the overall flavor profile. Despite some misses with several of the sides and one of the entrees, our celebratory meal was throughly enjoyable - I look forward to returning, and will use what I've learned to ordered up a five star experience next time. read more

All the steaks were super tender and perfectly seasoned. The cream corn soufflé was delicious but slightly under seasoned. Scalloped potatoes were nice and creamy and perfectly seasoned. The Creme Brûlée maple blueberry compote cheesecake was the star of the evening. The top was crisped to perfection, smooth cheesecake texture and maple blueberry compote was perfectly sweet and tart at the same time. Oh and I forgot the homemade whipped cream. The steak was great as expected (tried the Cajun ribeye and filet Mignon) but for me the star of the night was the crab mashed potatoes. Cocktails were great, I tried an espresso martini and french 75 which were both above average in quality. Given that we were a large party and I know that can be tricky for some servers and some establishments, I'll allow some grace. However, in my two year's of living in Portland, this was, hands down, the worst dining experience I've had here. Nine of us dined for a friend's birthday party. The highlight for me was that they accommodated my order for a steak salad, which isn't an item offered on the menu. Unfortunately, the service we received last night was poor for a regular night and abysmal for a birthday celebration. The waiter (John) took three orders, then skipped the male at our table and proceeded to take the rest of the orders. When asked why, he was told that his grandmother taught him to serve all the ladies first. That might've been okay if that had been explained upfront, but it came across and rude and as him not wanting to serve the male guest because of his sexuality. One of our guests happened to know the bartender so she ordered food for our male friend from the bar. You would think that would've been a red flag for the waiter or the manager, but no, they treated it as thought it was perfectly normal and didn't address it. Most of the food arrived cold and not in the acceptable "less hot than normal" way that you might expect as they try to accommodate a large party. The waiter didn't come back by to check to see if there were issues with the food and when that was called to his attention at the end of dinner service, he argued about it. At the end, the manager provided a discount for the poor service, which I appreciate. The issue is that we waited over 40 minutes for them to run the cards, take them back to apply the discount and then return them, which significantly extended an unpleasant evening.
