My parents used to be bring me and my siblings here when we lived in Santa Ana and I have never forgotten about it. The food is SO DELICIOUS! I've searched and hoped to find a place similar to this where I currently live but no luck. This place kicks flame broilers & others butt and sends them flying into space! The food is so tasty! I love to get the #4 combo plate. It's half chicken half beef on top of rice with side salad (comes with a dressing on it, I'm not sure what type of dressing, but I enjoy it), eggroll, gyoza, and some teriyaki sauce. I love their agua de Jamaica! It's sweet and refreshing. This place is always lunch or dinner whenever I'm in the area. I've never had any issue with employees being rude or messing up my order. The last time Me and my husband were there the food was made very fast and my husband even went back for another plate before we left so he could have it for dinner. Some people may dislike the place because it looks like a hole in the wall. It super tiny, parking can be a bitch if it's busy, the bathrooms are located in the back of the building and are disgusting. Could definitely be renovated, but if you want the best tasting teriyaki I recommend you order for take out and just avoid the restroom. read more

This place used to be delicious, they would pack on the meats and it was legit, recently every Mos 2 I went to is garbage, this place gives you 90% chicken skin, not even edible, another location gives you 90% rice and hardly any meat, now I gotta find a new spot, this place has really went downhill and I don't think there is any going back to how good they were. read more

Freshly cooked chicken teriyaki is their speciality and they make a simple bowl of rice with hot chicken and nice sweet teriyaki sauce a great lunch. There are some other items on the menu, but, to be honest, I've never had anything else here. The horchata is good to have and it goes surprisingly well with what I suppose is Japanese food. The guys there work hard cutting chicken, cooking chicken, chopping chicken, scoping rice, putting chicken in the bowls, taking and filling orders. Parking both at the Grand Ave and 17th St. locations can be tough, especially at the lunch rush, but be patient, find a space and have a really good teri bowl. read more

So I love the food here but the people running the business Manuel and the cashier who's always there the young little man with squeaky voice are super rude I got a plate and had a spoonful of mushy rice I asked for it to be exchanged right away Manuel was being very defensive rude saying that's just how white rice is when it's super hot . I selected the half and half plate/combo. It comes with chicken and beef, small salad, one egg roll, and one dumpling (I know it's called differently at this location, but I forgot). I got to admit I only give a 3 star cause I was hungry and left a good tip. They didn't give me my dressing I paid for.

Very delicious food quick service all food is fresh. Staff is quick and friendly for the most part. The only thing I wish they didn't do, is to talk trash when they think you don't understand them. I know I don't look like I know Spanish but I was raised in Santa Ana my whole life so "yes" I do know Spanish, so I do know when they talk bad about me. I am sorry I can't pronounce "Gyoza" they way they pronounce it but, it's no reason to talk bad about me then smile at me like, we cool. quality and service is starting to deteriorate. requested teriyaki beef and chicken. they said they ran out of beef. this is at 1:20pm., on a Saturday. so i said ok, give me chicken and shrimp. there was only me and 3 other people. i was the last order while the other 3 was waiting for their food. 5 minutes later, i got mines, bag, tied up ready to go. nothing to drink as i got plenty to drink at home. $14.41. usual sh*t. nothing out of the ordinary. got home, unboxed my meal. lookit. ill post a pic. my plate was nothing but salad, rice and pork. wtf? and where is my eggroll and wonton yall usually throw in with the meal? yall been around way too long to be this messy. i live literally 10 minutes walking distance. either the heat was making each and every single one of you in the kitchen miserable or yall just got lazy. yet still, did that justify the service i got. charlies burgers is another story. time to look for another go-to. i know im probably a pinchful of customers that waS unlucky versus the hundreds of 5 star reviews. but im also not gonna hee haw everything is all good. wheter anybody is reading or not, this is non-fiction. goodluck and i wish yall the best in your endeavors, MOS2. read more

Beef: Overcooked, seasoned ok. - Conqueror's Deduction - I think the quality (especially the sauce and chicken) was a lot better than other "Teriyaki chicken" places by Asians. Cheap eats with a lot of food. The food here comes out faster than McDonalds! If you are here for quality then this isn't the place. It's located right next to the DMV in Santa Ana. They don't take credit cards but there's a ATM machine inside. I really like the food here. The rice is mushy. the meat is flavored and tender. The sauce is similar to flame broiler. You can't go wrong for a big plate of food for $7. My plate consisted of Chicken, beef, white rice, egg roll , salad, and gyoza. It's a great deal of food for a good price. Besides Flame Broiler, this hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint serves only teriyaki plates. The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. I don't' know if it's pronounced Mos as in Mos Def or Mas as in Masi or Moes like Moe's Diner, but I sure do get a similar feeling either way of the luxury Italian bike maker, sweet lyrical MC or your favorite bar Moe's. Sure you could go to Yogi's for poor quality bland teriyaki or Flame Broiler for generic conveyorbelt food, but why not come to the grassroots teriyaki with possibly the best sauce around for at least 5 miles in any direction. It used to be amazing, but now it's really only excellent. Tiny location easy to miss. Near the DMV so drive slow. Cash only, ATM inside, prompt service, but no wait staff. Décor isn't brining anyone in. Workers are friendly and most people take to go because of the limited amount of seating and a lot of people walk here and eat elsewhere. Teriyaki isn't exclusively owned by the Asian's or Hawaiians, truth be told their chicken bowl here might be the best I've ever had. Tender, moist juicy chicken and the sauce is perfectly blended and not too sweet, a common complaint amongst other places. The beef I found tough due to being overcooked. Perhaps they need to work on the marinade or the cut because I really couldn't tell, but for sure overcooked each time. We use to live by the MOS 1 in Anaheim 15 yrs ago and it was our favorite place to eat. So today we were in Santa Ana and drove by MOS 2 and we had to try it out. My expectations are high since I'm comparing it to MOS 1 in Anaheim. Needless to say, I was disappointed. We ordered 2 of the chicken and beef combo plate, chicken bowl, and an order of gyoza with two drinks which came up to $29.32. Price is ok. Amount of food is great. But the quality of food was lacking. The chicken and beef was over cooked and very dry. The gyoza was actually pretty good but I have had better. The drinks are not free to refill and cost .54 cents for any size to refill which makes no sense at all. They do not take cash but have a ATM machine inside if you need it. Unfortunately, we will not be returning back to this MOS 2. read more

I always give this place the benefit of the doubt, but after one too many times they've failed me over and over again! their chicken has A LOT of fat which makes the chicken feel very chewy and never ending. Their water drinks are garbage. The other Mos restaurant does a better job at everything. Only reason why I come here was because it is closer to me, but I will definitely do the drive for the other Mos in town. I was super reluctant to try this place but my boyfriend was adamant that this place was the number one contender for teriyaki bowls. I ordered the #4 combo plate which consisted of steamed white rice, a heaping amount of teriyaki chicken and beef, a small side salad with dressing, an eggroll, and one wonton. I've had my share of teriyaki bowls from The Flame Broiler, Waba Grill, and other random teriyaki bowl joints (that have crashed and burned because the previous two restaurants prevent them from growing a customer base). Anyway, I was happy that I came to Mos No 2 starving after waiting tirelessly at the DMV next door because I devoured my #4 combo plate. For the price, you definitely get more bang for your buck. My plate looked like I barely made a dent in the rice, yet I acquired major food coma after inhaling the salad and the proteins. The teriyaki sauce was delicious--not super sweet, not too runny, not too thick, it was perfect. For hot sauce, they had Tapatio packets. I wasn't surprised considering that this was a Hispanic joint, but I was craving for some Sriracha or Sambal Olek to add relief from the sweetness. I knocked one star because the place could use a good cleaning. Personally, it felt grimy because the tables were dirty and I wish they had some hand sanitizer laying around. I went in they took my order pretty fast, but while I was waiting I saw my order ready and the man who was putting it together didn't bother and was on his phone showing another man some sort of video on his cellphone they both were on the phone while he was working on it and it was busy it took longer to get the order together than me ordering & waiting. When I asked for extra sauces he said they had put extra in the bag I had 4 plate combos and when I saw the sauces they were half full and in small containers all the containers were sticky and covered in sauce they were dirty. Wow this place get a lot of love for teriyaki chicken and beef. It is really a stretch to consider this Japanese food, though at it heart, I guess that is where it goes back to. I work across the street from a Flame Broiler, but a bunch of guys in my office prefer to drive here for essentially the same stuff. Its... OK. Simple menu, teriyaki bowls and plates, a limited selection of sides, soda and a few other drinks.
