The server was great. And we've been there the last few years and the Valentine's Day meal was exceptional. But this year it was ice, cold puff pastry with a teaspoon of Brey and apricot undressed greens underneath. Followed by a very under seasoned steak, crunchy polenta, and congealed demi-glace. We ordered dinner for take-out. What we got was okay but way over priced for what it was. My husband ordered the duck, which was okay but not as good as other places we tried on our trip. It was meant to come with a salad and didn't. I ordered the Caesar salad with prawns and dressing on the side. No dressing was included: a heap of green and 5 prawns with 3 large croutons. The person who took our order wasn't paying attention. She asked me to repeat things several times and when she read the order back it wasn't right. The person who handed it to us was very friendly and, when she realized we were staying T the hotel, offered real silverware and napkins. That's a plus. We had our dog and according to the website, dogs are allowed to dine with you outside. The hostess told us there were a lot of mosquitos outside. We said we have our dog, so we thought we had to sit outside. She said nothing to this, but added us to the waitlist and then when she called us, sat us outside. Fine dining restaurants in San Francisco are small plates / sharing portions so we definitely ordered too much but it gave us plenty of leftovers to enjoy the next day and more dishes to review. Elote Tagliatte: 4/5 so creamy and delicious. The fried cotija really added to the experience. It didn't have enough acid tho so the creaminess became overwhelming after a bit. Shroom Shroom Pizza: 2/5 the flavor was lacking but the pizza dough is very good! Would probably get something else Crispy Brussels: 5/5 I just love crispy Brussel sprouts in general! The lemon marmalade with the pecans just elevated the sprouts Pickled French fry: 3/5 a little dry and tasted almost like a spiced sweet potato. Ran out of secret sauce but it was good with ranch. Probably would skip next time. Beet salad: 4/5 beets + oranges + fennel + feta is the perfect combo!!! Came in to eat during what I thought would be lunch hour but it was happy hour. Prices are very slightly reduced. I wanted something from the regular appetizers but the waiter let me know the chefs won't make it during happy hour. We stayed the extra hour for dinner and finally ordered the appetizer we wanted, It was worth the wait but would've been better if it was already on the happy hour menu, or if you could just order from the regular dinner menu. Service was fine, nothing extraordinary but the food was good. There wasn't many people inside, but it still took 40 minutes to receive our pizza. Once it arrived it had a hole in the dough, they asked if we wanted this pizza or to wait 3 minutes for a new one, we just said it's fine and took it since it had been so long and we were starving. My husband made reservations for Thanksgiving a week in advance. We arrived five minutes before service began. We were immediately seated at a tiny table in a white tiled closet (off of the kitchen) by a waitress who jokingly stated, "I hope you don't mind if I put you right here in the corner?" I replied, "Did I do something wrong?" She smiled, rattled off the items on the menu (over the din from the kitchen) and zipped out of the space. My husband followed after the waitress to inquire about a table in the restaurant. It was early, tables were plentiful in the main space and (as I mentioned) we had a reservation. "Could we have the table for two right there?" "No," the dead eyed manager intervened. Consequently, we were forced to move from our faux autumnal environs into the real November wind and leaves on the patio. Our baby faced waiter set up the propane heater and assured us he'd be around to assist with any big words on the menu. No thanks. We have actually encountered words other than 'hamburger' on menus before. We had not consumed hummus sans bread or utensils and asked for his recommendations with the second course. "Oh, you must have sent your utensils back to the kitchen!" "No," we stated, "We haven't received any utensils." The dead-eyed manager dropped by the table to inform us that she was prepared to "comp" our first round of drinks. My husband thought it a generous action. We discovered this place during our 4th of July weekend in Redding. And I'd say it's a rare find in this small city. First off, the place has a super cool modern interior with an open kitchen. And also it is located right next to the Sundial Bridge. So we couldn't resist giving it a try. We arrived around 7pm, and there was a 30-minute wait. Kinda a bummer but not for people from SF haha. Our waiter was nice and friendly, she recommended their seasonal menu. My husband went for the vegetarian pizza with pesto and artichoke (he loved it!), while I picked the salad with duck. The salad was pretty good overall, but here's the thing - I asked for the duck to be well done, but it still came out medium rare. Not exactly what I had in mind. So, I'm giving them 4 stars this time. But my husband's pizza was a winner, and the overall vibe of the place was great. OK, I've posted about our first visit here six years ago. This place never, I say, never disappoints. They have recently changed out their happy hour menu...and it's rocking. We've been here for lunch, dinner and brunch but this happy hour thing on a Friday was just plain delightful. The pizzas are large and priced right, along with the salads. The small bites are so perfectly cooked and plated. A smart tip is the breaded pickle chips and the pork belly sliders...figure it out:) Vegetarian wife loved the lettuce wraps...and the night wore on. P. S. Food was mediocre at best, Food came out sporadically like 5 mins per meal, my wife's friend Mahi Mahi was luke warm at best other friends salad came with Salmon and not chicken in which she ordered. We were a party of 8 and not one of us thought it even was up to McDonald's standards. Fancy names for Diced Tomatoes and mozzarella cheese doesn't cut it.. I can't for the life of me figure out why it is even sitting at 4.0 stars .. There are Sooooooo many other restaurants that are better in the area and I hope that out of town people do not think that this place represents Redding in any way shape or form. I would usually just let this kind of thing go but the fact that I'm still thinking about it tells me I need to say something. Especially since it constitutes a cross contamination health code violation. 4 stars for a great food, attentive service and atmosphere, just a little issue with a server with an ego. I'm a nurse now but previously spent 15years in food service and have done every job in a restaurant you could do, and loved it. I know how demanding it is physically, mentally and emotionally to be in food service. I was sitting at the bar tonight, having dinner with a girlfriend, being wonderfully taken care of by the bartender when I see him pass off a parm shaker (small glass jar with perforated metal lid holding Parmesan cheese) to another employee. Unfortunately, the recipient missed the handoff and dropped it on the ground. Absolutely no big deal, happens every day. What was a big deal was that he just picked it up and put it right back in the reach-in (little fridges underneath the back bar where they keep condiments and bottles of wine, etc.) As he walked by me, I said "that parm shaker fell on the floor, are you gonna wipe it off"? He looked at me, thought for a second, and said "well, I could", so I said " it fell on the floor and you put it right back in the reach-in. ARE you going to wipe it off?" "NO" he said, and walked away. I know this might sound trivial, but I just kept thinking about all the things that accumulate on the floor behind the bar that I would not want in my food, and how I would feel if I didn't say something and somebody got sick or, I don't know, just the thought of it grosses me out. So after we were done with our meal, I caught the bartenders attention and told him. He was nice enough about it and took the shaker out of the fridge and set it on the side of the back bar. I got the feeling he was humoring me, but it wasn't worth taking any further. Later I saw the person that had dropped it tell the bartender "sorry about that" and the bartender said "don't worry about it", and glance at me. I apologize for not getting names, I usually do so I can call people by their name. I really just wanted a quiet low key dinner with a friend, so wasn't being too gregarious with everyone else. What happened with the shaker was a minor deal, and easily fixable once pointed out. The annoying thing was how I was treated. When somebody points out a simple issue to you (a health code violation no less) and your responses to be rude to them instead of just fixing it, that's the problem. Anyways, take it as you will. Maybe bring a wet wipe when you get a parmesan shaker here. read more

This is all a plus, however the menu seemed ever so slightly pretentious which probably matched the atmosphere since we heard many customers complaining about minor inconveniences. The Brussels sprouts, drinks and pork were all amazing. The mahi mahi which was stated to be one of their top selling items, was bursting with flavor- none of which seemed to be cohesive. The presentation was lovely, sauce was delicious, the steak however tough and chewy. Couldn't eat it, my jaw got tired. Waiter finally checked in and we told him it was inedible. He offered 20.00 off of 120.00, which was not acceptable. Then manager offered taking off one meal. We didn't press it, but they should have taken both off. They had the opportunity to save a paying customer, but we paid 60.00 for something we couldn't eat. The only reason for the mediocre star rating is because of the menu. Got there a little early for our reservations and ordered a beer only to find out they were out of our choice at 6 pm. Then drinks we did order were watered down and no taste. Dinner arrival was late. Pizza one of our parties ordered was bread with little sauce and sparse amount of pepperoni and not much else. Then in the middle of dinner lights brightened like we were under interrogation. We requested they dim the lights but the staff did not know how. It was my third time at Mosaic for the reason that it has a nice ambiance whether in the morning or evening. Outdoor seating in the front or back is beautiful and shaded. I prefer sitting in the back with a beautiful view of the Turtle Bay walkway. The hosts, waitress and kitchen staff gave great service, and breakfast was spectacular. The pile of bacon was huge and more than enough for two hungry guests. Eggs Benedict was perfectly portioned. I enjoyed the French toast on French bread although it could have had more batter in my opinion. I've had dinner here in the past, ahi tuna, and steak, and those were really good entrees. Worst dine in experience I had. We have a reservation at 2.15pm for mother's day and they make us wait for about 2 hours for the food to came out. While we wait, server didn't even check to refill our drink or give any complimentary appetizer for the long wait. We have to call them to get anything. When they finally bring our food, they were cold and 2 of the burgers were severely undercooked that we have to send them back to the kitchen. And you would think it will be faster this time around. But nope, another 30-45 mins wait. As the cherry on top, one of the server accidentally spilled some sauce on my husband's head. No discount was given to our check for the horrible experience too.
