    Receipt fish and chips
    Susana C.

I know this place is considered a staple, but I personally think it's overhyped. The decor and style of this particular location is very dated. The building itself is old too. The bowling alley section has been walled off, and though they kept the rear entrance, it's like a liminal space... We came in for the fish and chips and I didn't care much for them. Fish was very salty and run of the mill fries. The coleslaw and hot biscuit that came with the order were both really good, though. However, for the price, I'd expect way better service, product and quality.

1/24/2025: After taking care of some business in the Kern River Valley, hubby decided to drive home through Bakersfield specifically to stop at Mossman's for dinner! The almost-birthday boy wanted fish & chips.. and where else would you go to satisfy that craving? This old school diner outlived the attached bowling alley, and that really says something! Super clean, simple decor and they seem to know everyone's name. What a joy to watch them interacting with all of their regulars! Service was excellent as always, our server was even sweet enough to bring a sample of their house "budget" salad that's often a side to their famous golden fish chunks.. and I just might have to order that on our next visit! They were very busy in the dining room, at the old fashioned counter; in the private party room as well as with drive-up take-out orders. Yes - if you phone in your order and drive up to the front door, they will run your order out to you like a car hop service! Make sure you tip these hard working folks well when they hand you your bag of deliciousness! Once again we enjoyed our meal but weren't able to have dessert afterwards because the portions are just SO generous. They have fresh made cobblers and Texas sheet cakes for dessert for those who do have room. I did order a dozen of those excellent rolls to take home and enjoy. Oh, heavenly carbs! We are in Los Angeles, but I haven't found another place that has better Fish & Chips.. and what a bargain!

Still good as ever. It's no surprise that they've lasted so long. The service is great. Our server was so kind and patient especially with my kids. Once again we ordered the fish and chips and bacon burger and it was so good! But also ordered their Delicious strawberry cobbler and their sheet bread! If you like chocolate then you'll love that sheet cake! But my favorite was definitely the cobbler so sweet and delicious!

We went for the fish but discovered that the chicken was where it was at!! Moist, flaky crust, just plain great! We can't wait to go back for breakfast!!

Fish n chips and Chicken tenders which came

At first glance, this is an older establishment that has the small town ambiance feeling, and if you want to smell like the restaurant this is the place to go. The service was great and welcoming from all the workers which was nice. As for the food, I got the fish n chips and chicken tenders which came with fries but also a bread roll as a starter! The portion was pretty decent with good fries and good chicken tenders, but the fish n chips fell short for me :(. I was expecting a nice crispy crunch from the batter but it was chewy and did not deliver. I'm not sayin they were undercooked but I feel like I could've had a better bite. Overall: I would have to comeback and give a second chance in the future, coming from my mom she says she has had better fish n chips here but maybe this time they weren't that great.

Came with the family and we ordered three orders of fish n chips. We usually love it here, imo it's better than the coast. Well, this visit was a total miss. The fish was soft and watery inside on all three orders. The bread was different also. It was a total disappointment maybe the new shop off Buena Vista will be a better experience.

    So good it's gone!

Food-wise, the Peruvian grilled cheese sandwich was flavorful and well made, but I'd recommend asking for the sauce on the side unless you enjoy a messy sandwich. The ham and cheese croffel had great flavor, but it was a little light on the ham and cheese. I think the cropples are better suited in the sweet variety as they seem small incompressants to a ham and cheese croissant someone would purchase for about half that price. In my opinion, it was more of a kid's snack than a meal and not quite worth the price, if you're actually hungry I would go with something else off the menu. Everything was made fresh , you must be patient here , perfection can be slower than your metabolism, so dont go there hangry. During my visit, Hector explained that he envisions Uncharted Adventures as a gathering place for the community. The business frequently hosts weekend vendor markets and local running clubs. Hector also shared he was creating a dedicated Memorial Day wall honoring local veterans, first responders, and teachers, while also working on an outdoor eating area. It's always great to see a Hector and Chris, and the new Adventures they take on. This is one of the few coffee shops in Bako worth checking out, whether you're stopping in for a coffee, a bite to eat, or a community events theyre hosting give em a visit an introduce yourself. You can thank me later. .Overall I would give everything a four and a half Stars but since Yelp doesn't do half Stars I'll give them a five out of five stars.
