Came here for both lunch and breakfast. For breakfast - we ordered a range of dishes: pancakes, their famous po boy and sausage and eggs. It was delicious. For lunch - we ordered their famous ham with rice and beans as sides and some kids meals which came with fries that came sooo fresh from the fryer, it was so good. Tip is not included in the check so have some cash to give to your server when you're done.

GREAT food, venue and team here at Mother's... Enjoy it all.

I have been to New Orleans on several occasions but never visited Mothers. I have to blame the places I have stayed in the past for not bringing this place to my attention. Happily, our concierge at the Inter-Continental told us about Mothers which turned out to be just a five minute walk from the hotel. There is a place in Schenectady that serves the same kind of comfort food and we never seem to make it there. Mother's turned out to be the perfect replacement for us. Based on the previous reviews, we were very lucky not to have any line in front of us. We (the four of us) just walked in aright to the cashier. We loved looking at all the proclamations, citations, notes, pictures and other artwork on the walls. This shop is also a mini-museum of photos and memorabilia on the walls. Food: - 3 orders of Fried Chicken - So delicious!!! Crispy (non-greesy) coating on top of wonderful tender tasty chicken. - 1 order of combo PO-Boy - Am unbelievable big-fat-loaded snadwich with plenty of a fresh tasty assortment of meats. - Fries - crsipy delicious - cheesy grits - just perfect - Collard greens - love my delicious collard greens - Chocolate brownie with nuts - this was good, I mean really good Everything was perfect and we just loved it here. Before we left I took the opportunity to speak with many of the team members. They were all awesome, love what they do helping folks to really enjoy their food. I could not recommend Mother's enough. It should be a required stop when visiting New Orleans. KUDOs to the team at Mother's Restaurant

Mother's is such a classic New Orleans experience! The atmosphere feels authentic and no-frills, which is part of what makes it such a great stop. We had the Ferdi Special sandwich, roast beef sandwich, red beans and rice, and jambalaya. The jambalaya was easily the standout....some of the best we've had! Everything was great overall. The red beans and rice were a little bland for our taste, but still good. Definitely worth a visit for the food and true New Orleans atmosphere.

Found out about this place from our Uber driver and the recommendation was well worth it. We came during lunch hours before closing. You stand in line and go to the register to order them sit if you're dining in. I ordered the fried shrimp with red beans and rice and turnip greens.... This food was so good I cleaned the plate!! I enjoyed looking at the wall full of pics of different celebrities. This place is a must next time I come back to NOLA.

Hello My Babies!!!! Man when I say this makes me feel at home. Welcome to Mother's Restaurant and baby listen just the welcoming, ordering and greeting is 5 before receiving the food. There is organized chaos here and feels very cafeteria style seating and ordering. Here for the Red Dress Run and came a few days early to experience NOLA more. Randomly walk to get coffee and got a few Good Mornings from people leaving this place. I told my bestie, oh we're going in here after coffee lol. Baby! Listen!! If you want some catfish, grits and eggs. Good breakfast and lunch come on ova here and get some of this good food.

Food was good but I wasn't impressed. This place serves a simple breakfast. Nothing about this place screams New Orleans cuisine, but rather it is just a decent comfort breakfast spot. You order in line and a runner makes sure you get everything. No frills kind of place, it is actually very old and really casual. Food was good but if I never went back I would be okay.

Been a fan of Mother's since my first visit in 2001. In NOLA for a conference and Mother's was top of the list. I raved about it so much by first time NOLA friends joined me. I ordered the quarter fried chicken, cabbage and red beans and rice. Each bite was a walk down memory lane; Mother's is consistent. I couldn't finish my lunch because the bread pudding was an absolute must. Creamy, warm, sweet goodness. After a couple of bites I thought I was in heaven. Mother's is always a must when in NOLA.

My friend wanted to stop here for gumbo, I haven't been here in many years but I do remember that they had a good etouffee omelette. He insisted on gumbo. The people here are great, it's a very old restaurant with a lot of pictures and nostalgic memories. You place your order and find a seat, they bring the food to you. The gumbo was not the best, I would recommend trying other items on the menu.

I took a six day trip to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. On my first day, I stayed in New Orleans. I was staying in the Central Business District, and one of the hotel employees suggested that we walk down the street to Mother's. Best advice we could have gotten! Atmosphere was relaxed, busy, easy, friendly. Order at the cash register and pay. Food is brought to your table. Out of my entire week of traveling, Mother's won for best Po Boy. I had a fried oyster and shrimp Po Boy and it was perfect. Perfectly fried, perfectly seasoned, perfectly delicious. I am now forever spoiled by Mother's for all future Po Boys. Service was very friendly and extremely genuine. The woman seated by the door who gave us a little bit of an intro as we walked in said "God bless you," as we walked out. Her energy, and Mother's energy, was heartfelt and real. Fried oyster and shrimp Po Boy at Mother's. God bless.

I went bright and early in the morning to grab a quick breakfast before heading over to a convention. There was a bit of line, but when they let us in at 7AM, there was just enough space inside to accommodate everyone. I found out there that the early bird special isn't offered on the weekends, but I ordered an egg biscuit and a cup of coffee at the counter. After sitting for a bit with the receipt on my table, a server came by to collect the receipt and bring me my plate. The biscuit was huge and served with a square of butter and some blueberry jelly. I ordered my egg scrambled, and while it wasn't the creamiest French scramble, the helping of eggs was generous and not too overcooked. The biscuit wasn't as fluffy or buttery as I thought it would be, but it was still hearty and a good vehicle for the butter and jelly. It wasn't super dry, but the coffee was good to add a little flavor and moisture to the whole thing. For an institution described as "a tourist trap" I felt this was a much better no-frills option compared to some fancy restaurants and boring fast food options around the area, especially for breakfast. The staff were really welcoming and I could see why there was no shortage of customers even in the early hours.

Hole in the wall type of restaurant. Great vibes. Definitely worth trying for good local food. Service is good. Quick. People are friendly. Food is good. Tastes like home cooking. The crawfish etouffee is good. I think crawfish had a more seafood taste than shrimp and you can taste that in this dish. You get to choose your own sides.

We come here every time we're in NOLA. The service could be better. Came in around 4pm on a Friday, it wasn't busy. The girls that work the register were sitting on the floor on their phones as we waited to place our order. They had 5 people behind the counter but only one person was making the plates. the jambalaya was sooooo salty. Like, unbearably salty. The crawfish etoufee was the best in the combination plate. The bread pudding was alright or Maybe I'm not a bread pudding person

What is Debris? It looks like pulled beef or pot roast in the photos, and if y'all recommend it, that is what I will order when I go next week.

The Debris sandwich is a roast beef sandwich - but the debris is a topping. It's the beef that fell into the pan during the roasting/cooking process, and is typically extra crispy. Quite delicious!

Is there a good day/time to come here when it's not-as-busy?? The lines look insane, LoL

As soon as they open is the best time. otherwise it's always busy!

Is this place pet friendly? I would assume not with out outdoor seating?

This is not a pet friendly restaurant and there is not outdoor seating. There's usually a line outside to be seated but no worries it moves pretty fast.

This was my first time having noodles added to a seafood boil, and let me tell you--they were a GAME CHANGER. The noodles soaked up all that rich, buttery Cajun sauce and seasoning, making every bite ridiculously flavorful. I honestly don't know if I can order another seafood boil without noodles now! Our boil was loaded with crab, shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn, and egg, and everything came out piping hot and covered in sauce. The seafood was flavorful, the portions were generous, and once we dumped everything onto the tray, it was officially time to get messy. What I really appreciated was how well everything worked together. The noodles weren't just an unnecessary add-on--they caught all that extra sauce that normally gets left at the bottom of the bag. Do yourself a favor and add them! Come hungry, roll up your sleeves, and don't wear anything you're afraid to get Cajun sauce on. Hot N Cajun delivered exactly what I wanted from a New Orleans seafood boil: hot, messy, saucy, flavorful, and satisfying. The noodles alone made this one memorable. Definitely coming back!

Everything we ordered was delicious, and honestly, the food is the main reason I would consider giving Bon Ton another try. I also want to give credit to the host who greeted us. She was extremely friendly, professional, and genuinely tried her best to accommodate my party. The bad: The issue was management. I had a party of 13, and I understood that the restaurant could only seat 10 people at one table. I was told the other 3 guests would be seated at a separate table, and I was completely okay with that arrangement. However, Travis, the front manager, canceled the reservation for my 3 additional guests, so they were never seated. The host was trying her best to help us, but Travis was not very accommodating and made the situation much more difficult than it needed to be. I also asked to speak with a manager because I wanted to understand what happened with the table for my 3 guests. Tre was told that I wanted to speak with him, but he didn't come over when he finished with the table behind me. Instead, he went into the kitchen, came back out, and spoke with my friend instead of me. When he eventually spoke with me, I asked if he was the manager, and he told me no. He also gave me a different name. What makes this even more disappointing is that I wasn't approaching him to complain. I simply wanted to ask about the seating situation and find a solution for my guests. The interaction with management was unnecessary and took away from what should have been a special birthday dinner. I will say again that the food was good enough that I am willing to give Bon Ton another try. Hopefully, next time the service and management experience will match the quality of the food. Shoutout to the host for being kind and trying her best--you could tell she genuinely cared about helping us.

I jumped on my OpenTable app and was able to snag a reservation on a busy Friday night. We took an Uber to the restaurant but I did notice most of the parking for this restaurant was street parking. Walking in about 15 minutes before our reservation and they sat us immediately at the bar, much to my surprise as the restaurant was packed and I had heard rumors of people waiting for long periods of time for a seat. The restaurant was very busy and quite noisy with the constant chatter of a full restaurant along with the most amazing music being played to create the best ambiance for a great meal. Once we sat down we ordered a few cocktails to go with our dinner. We ordered a Sidecar($18.00) and a French 75($14.00) Both were exquisite-tasted great and were well made. For food we ordered the 1/2 Fried Chicken order($18.00) which comes with 4 pieces of fried chicken and a side, I went with the Mac n Cheese but it was out and they gave me Red Beans and Rice and a side of Green Beans in its place. We also ordered the Caesar Salad with the Fried Chicken added.($13.00 + $5.00) Our food got to us in about 15 minutes, which was amazingly fast considering how busy the restaurant and kitchen were that night. Let's talk about the food. The Caesar Salad was pretty good, nice and fresh with a good balance of dressing and cheese. The Red Beans and Rice was my favorite side-was so flavorful and rich. The Green Beans hurt my soul a bit because I realized upon tasting those that I have been cooking mine at home all wrong all these years-they were perfect. The star of the night and what Willie Mae's is famous for though is the fried chicken and it did not disappoint. My wife said I looked like a kid on Christmas Day as I was smiling and enjoying every bite of my four pieces of fried chicken. All I could think about was how I wished my father would've made it to New Orleans at least once as fried chicken was his favorite food and the dish served at Willie Mae's would've blown his socks off.
