Shohei is awesome. Took my '10 KTM 690 Duke there for routine maintenance and my bike came back cleaner than when I brought it in. Couple trips back to sort out of things that I had some concerns about (caused by myself) but shohei took the time to sort it out and even test rode the bike right away to make sure that all was taken care of. Warning!!! Do Not Go! This place is terrible. The worst business I have ever been to. I left my motorcycle there for service, then he later calls and tells me to pick up my bike because he got busy. When I went to pick it up after work, the gate to the parking lot was closed so I couldnt pick it up. He just left the bike outside.The next morning when I went to pick it up, I noticed he left the key in the bike. When I confronted him, he said "I told you to pick it up".The owner speaks zero English, and has terrible customer service. I've been going to him for years due to the price, but Hudson' is just as competitive. What a jack*ss#. Feel free to message me about this guy. I took my 2008 CRF250 here because it was hard to start and idled (and ran) really rough. Dropped it off on Saturday, Shohei did his preliminary checks of valve clearance, compression and ignition on Monday, and those were within spec. He was able to determine that the spark plug was bad and the pilot jet was clogged. Got it back on Tuesday and the bike starts and runs like new now. I can usually work on mechanical issues on my own, but I suspected the problem to be in the valve clearance or the carb and didn't want to get in over my head. Glad it was a simple fix and the results are awesome. I would highly recommend Shohei to any one needing bike repairs as his rate was reasonable and turnaround for the repairs was very quick! read more

I took a tire over there to have a screw taken out of it. He said he was busy but would have it done by a certain time. He had it done before he said it would be done. I am going to have my bike serviced here from now on also. I should've come here years ago! read more

This guy is the best. I have a 2013 Ninja ZX6R. I bought an m4 slip on and a fender eliminator kit and had him install it for me. He did a perfect job. I have been a customer for over 7 years now and I believe it to be the best in the area. He may not know exactly what is wrong with the bike when you first bring it to him, but he will always call and let you know what the problem is after he takes a look at it. He doesn't like it when you reference what you think the problem is to anything you found online or what your friend told you. He also shows you the parts he replaced and explains what he fixed and what was causing your problems if any. He does work by himself so sometimes the work may take a little bit longer but if you don't mind its definitely worth the wait. read more

OK, I have not yet had the pleasure of leaving my bike here to get repaired... BUT, that is mainly because the owner went over my bike and outlined that the repairs would cost more than the value of my bike. Sadly I am not a collector that can afford the extra expenses at the moment. I would assume that almost any other mechanic would have taken in the bike and tried to make as much money off of me as possible. I absolutely plan on returning to this shop should when I want to spend the cash on restoring my classic bike, or if I've acquire another bike that will need any maintenance, repairs, etc.. First time at this shop had to get the rear tire changed on my '97 Ducati M900. I brought in my own tire so there is a disposal fee. After changing my tire he also inspected my sprocket, chain and brake pads (which all needed replacing) no charge. Then he checks the front tire and gives me an estimate on how many miles I can get out of it until I have to change it. Then he cleaned my chain for free too. He seems honest to me for my first time there. I will be back to his place soon. read more

UPDATED REVIEW: Long story short, I've been here several times and recommended few friends to go here because the price is decent and he gets the job done fairly quick, but IMO he can be a real pain to deal with. If you talk moto repairs with him, he has some kind of attitude problem as others have mentioned, I'm just fed up with it now. I get my information from lots of ACTUAL reading and from knowledgeable & respected people/racers in forums who could probably own their own shop if they wanted and not some simple ask yahoo answers, yet for some reason he looks down on you for getting "internet information". He can be very condescending and tries to make you feel stupid. My co-worker overheard my conversation with him and he was confused as to why the mechanic was being an ass. Perhaps the experience is different if you speak Japanese as his English isn't the best for a FULL ON conversation, as he misinterprets things quite often. Here's a tip if you do go there, just drop your bike off and just say YES to whatever he says. read more

I started going here about 2 years ago with my Suzuki scooter, then my BMW 1200rt. Everytime I go I've had the same experience. Excellent! His prices are right, his work is good and he always explains in detail what was done and the specs used. Warning! We all look for a mechanic that we trust with our Ride. Moto whoop is not the place. I was told the diagnostics would be $80 great! I requested to be notified if the charges were over $200. Before any work was to be done. I get a text a few days later telling me my motorcycle is fixed and I owe $586. I reminded him that I requested to be notified prior to any repairs and asked for an invoice of what work was done on my bike. The next text was "fine pay $200 for diagnostics and come get your bike now" then was told he'd charge me $25.00 for each day I don't pick it up the bike. Leaving work and rushing over, I get there and he has an invoice for $200. Not wanting to give me the invoice showing the work he claimed was done on the bike adding up to $586.00. He was incredibly rude, borderline aggressive. I wasn't sure if it was because I'm a female or if he's just an Asshole in general, after reading other reviews which I should've done prior, I see that he's just an awful person, A slimy mechanic that gives other mechanics a bad reputation. I had another mechanic look at the $586. invoice he said I barely got $200.00 worth of work done. read more

I whole heartedly agree with all the previous reviews. Shoei is an honest and skilled mechanic and charges a fair price.However clear precise communication with him is nearly impossible. Language is a huge barrier when you are trying to explain your motorcycle problem to Shoei. Also, as another reviewer(Dennis Y.) mentioned below Shoei doesn't seem to have the patience to sit there and discuss with you what work he is exactly doing on your bike. He doesnt like it if you ask him questions about your bike issues. As all riders know, upgrades/changes to your stock motorcycle are a norm.You cannot ask Shoei any "what if... ?" questions. You cannot talk about options with him.The language barrier is simply so overwhelmigly that if you ask him a question ,your conversation goes off on a complete tangent right from his response. If you know the problem with your bike,the only effective way to communicate with Shoei is to give him precise single line instructions.No more no less.He has his set ways of doing things and does exactly that every time unless you give him clear,precise and short instructions. His prices are very fair and his work is excellent.The biggest thing he lacks is clear communication skills in English. read more

Shohei is the man. He is a true professional. I found him here on Yelp (thanks other reviewers) and took a chance on him. I went to him to repair a flat. Not only did the man repair the flat, but he also rebalanced my tire, cleaned up some and gave me some pointers as to what preventative maintenance I should do next. With all the extra work he did, the mark of a true professional by looking at things to the front and back of what he is fixing, he still only charged me what he quoted me. Since I use my bike to commute back and forth to work, he will be the only one working on it from now on. His rates are reasonable. Your bike (life) is in good hands with Shohei. I just bought my first bike, a Kawasaki Ninja 250r, and I had a really hard time finding a good motorcycle mechanic in my area (Long Beach) who wasn't quoting me ridiculous rates for what should be routine service for my bike (full service including valve clearance check every 7.5k miles). I found Moto Whoops recommended on a thread in the subreddit r/longbeach. I called up Moto Whoops, and talked directly with the owner who even pulled up the service manual specific for my bike go over what needed to be done. His quote was less than half what the kid at my local motorcycle super store was trying to rob me for. Sounded good to me so I rode my bike all the way from Long Beach to Gardena on a Saturday afternoon as agreed. Looks like Moto Whoops is a one-man shop kind of deal, really old school, and just the kind of mechanic I was looking for. I left my bike with him, and got a call back from him before the end of the following week to let me know that my bike was ready to pick up. When I came to pick up my bike, the owner was very kind enough to go over all of the repairs that he did, and even pointed out all of the little details that he did. The previous owner of my bike didn't sufficiently torque one of the spark plugs, causing the valves in one of my cylinders to go out of spec. He saved all old parts to show that he replaced them, even showing me how the old spark plug had carbon building up on the threads and that the crush washer wasn't compressed. He even saved all the paperwork for the old versus new valve clearances, and even gave me the old shims for adjusting the valves. Also, he personally took my bike for a test ride before finishing the job, and noticed that my front brake was squishy, repaired it properly, and warned me that my front brakes would be much more responsive now. Turns out he was right, because I almost locked up my fronts coming to a red light after I left. He even cleaned and lubed my chain to the point where it looked better than new. I really like Moto Whoops, and would recommend it to anybody. The owner is patient, very knowledgeable, charges honest rates, and most importantly has very high attention to detail. What more is there to ask for? read more

I asked Shohei to look over the whole bike + oil change, and he walked me through his findings (very methodical), explained his recommendations, and broke down his price quote, which was very fair. Shohei is as good as everyone said on YELP. I just brought a bike and need some work done. I brought it in on a Friday and by next Wed it was out of the shop. I had it lowered, modified the oil filter (06' VSTAR - bad design) and an oil change. He's prices where the best in town. Unfortunately we did not even get past the front door as the owner or whomever was working that day was extremely rude and impossible to deal with. We were really excited to try this local, inexpensive shop out for minor electrical work on a Honda cb175 but due to the immediate rudeness of the owner and his inability to communicate we went south to a very nice shop down the road. The man literally kept interrupting me and insisting I told him something different over the phone with regards to the type of bike we were bringing. His interrupting and total inability to politely converse with a potential customer with multiple bikes infuriated me to the point of yelling. One entirely objective observation is that the place is a little hard to see as you're coming down the road not very good signage and easily missed. I own a small business and always make sure my customers are heard even if I can't accommodate them, that's called common courtesy. read more

Searched google for local shops after being burnt bad by other mechanics. Found this guy, was hard to locate webpage and when called I honestly kept looking since english was not his primary language. After reading some good reviews said why not I will give it a shot. He did fork seal replace, brake work and general maintenance which should of taken at least a week due to parts not in stock at his shop. I was told would be ready in a week the next day I get a call and it was done. He went out and got the parts so I could enjoy memorial weekend with my ride. My bike feel sooo good now the forks are tip top, brakes are amazing I have never been just blind sided with how fair priced he is and at how amazing his work is. I found a shop I will never leave and will tell all my friends. Do not even consider to go anywhere else, ya will waste ya time. My husband and I had been going to him for any bike problems we have with our bikes and he is trust worthy that he will not raise the price or charge you an arm and a leg like these other mechanics. He charges by what kind of work he does not by the hour...save you money.
