We placed our order at 7:00 via phone. Was told food would be ready in 20-25 minutes. My daughter and I make the short drive from our house to the Rambler. We arrive around 7:20. We stand in a line that was pretty long and after waiting 15 minutes the one employee who is working the order table all ALONE on a Friday evening (poor guy) says "who is here for a pickup order" I was the only one to raise my hand and I step forward... BUT...back to the lone guy trying to take food and drink orders all alone... I overhear a gentlemen in front of me ask if he could sit inside (there was a table of 6 people inside on the stage area) The employee says "sorry no seating inside- that is just the employees" I look over and see the owner kicking back playing cards and enjoying a beer while watching his employee and a long line on a Friday evening..REALLY!!!! I step forward and an employee asks my name- tells me my total- sets a bag down- runs my card and hands a receipt. Never said hello, how are you or ANYTHING!! Awfully rude. Drive 5 minutes home and open the 3 brown, to-go boxes, and our 2 grilled cheese with fries and one burger with fries were so COLD! The burger was soggy. We try putting them in the micro to warm them up- but that made the situation even worse. Here we are after spending $36 PLUS A 20% tip with gross food and super disappointed. We are locals and won't ever be giving this establishment our business! **UPDATE** An employee named Bruce just called us and left a voicemail apologizing for the less than satisfactory experience we received last night. I had the Peaklet Porter and my husband had the Hard cider. We often drive through Bishop without stopping. If I had done more research on this place I would have passed it up. 1. Bathroom was a porta/potty in parking lot. 2. Chicken sandwich fell apart with cabbage coleslaw too wet, and chicken possibly undercooked. 3. The Brussel sprouts, Sweet Potato Fries and home made Pickles here were big winners w our group, so much so that I couldn't even snap a pic before they were gonners! The beer is great, the food is great, I love the atmosphere, I love Bishop. I think this place opened up a couple years ago and it's become really popular, with good reason. The fries are really good with three different types of sauces. I just got the Lamb Empanada and it was delicious. And only $5! Prices for food and beer are all very reasonable. Air conditioned inside during summer and heated during winter. The atmosphere is relative to the atmosphere of the city and the area. Outdoorsy, lots of climbers, mountaineering, and outdoor enthusiasts like to stop here. All very friendly. Great for first rim visitors or a local hang out for locals. Clean bathrooms, very casual and comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. If you have a dog they have outdoor seating. Highly recommended! read more

Took my kiddos here on the way to mammoth - wow! We were impressed. The place has character and charm. It's like a German beer hall inside with long shared tables and a few separate tables on the side. There is a cute outside dining space too. The food was great. We had burgers, fries, tacos, pizza and a salad. All of it was amazing - my least favorite was the pizza but it was still good. My only suggestion would be to add a kids menu . So we had to order an adult burger for my son - but he still ate every bite! read more

Interesting little Brew Pub. You walk up to a counter to place your order. They have large tables and benches to sit on and a couple of high tops as well as large tables and chairs. They have a good variety of craft beers brewed on the premises. I ordered the Rambler Burger which was very juicy on a bakery bun. We split an order of fries which came with 3 dipping sauces. They were so so and I liked regular catsup the best. The fries were very good, crisp and hot with an herb seasoning. My husband had the salmon that came with rice and a mango sauce. There were also carmelized banana on it. He thought it was pretty good. I would recommend it for snacks or dinner. The food was brought to our table and servers checked to see if we needed anything. It was a little warm in the Brewery so a little extra air might be nice. read more

I've been there probably 20 times over the past 60 days - and really enjoy the beergarden atmosphere, nice staff, surprisingly good food, great music evenings and the lighter varieties of their selection of 10 crafty beers. My recommendation beerwise is the Seven Gables, Scottish Ale and the Pine Marten wheat beer. They also have a nice new coffee infused dark beer which reminds me if German dark beer. Foodwise the Rambler burger with fried egg is amazing, great quality and value even at 11$ and something. I also like the salmon with risotto, the rustic salad and the soups and the sweet potatoe fries on the side. The locally crafted bratwurst is not my favourite - maybe because I am used to the real deal back in my home country. Peoplewise it's usually quite packed with the climbing folks and friendly locals - due to open seating and long bar you can always make new friends if you want. Artwise they have a few mini exhibitions, nicely curated. Yes - and they have Wifi - so you can share the experince. If you're still reading this, I must say I like the place, if you are passing by, I'd say it's the best place for a meal and a beer. First things first: I love new brewery startups! So I'm very excited to have had the chance to experience the Mountain Rambler Brewery in Bishop, Ca within months of its opening. I love their food philosophy (check the website) and their beer is varietal but well crafted. Couple of things I think they do well: 1) genuine beer hall seating environs, with communal tables and seating at will, and 2) very nice atmosphere and excellent food and beer offerings. Couple of things they could do better: 1) ordering at the register and paying up front, makes second and third rounds of beer and appetizers require annoying second and third trips to the register; and 2) food portions were small on the bratwurst plate. At a price of $9 a plate you'd expect more than two scoops of sauerkraut, one brat, and a small serving of cold roast potatoes. Overall, I say this place has huge potential. But there's always room to improve. I look forward to my next trip through Bishop to check in with this place. read more

Came here solely for the food and definitely not a place I'll come back to. Got the greens salad with chicken and the chicken was tough while the balsamic mustard dressing was bitter and not good. One of the worst salads I've had :P The salmon dish special was also very meh. I think I would have been more satisfied eating at El Pollo Loco instead. We stopped by here for dinner on our way to Lee Vining. The food was very good. My husband had their homemade veggie burger and I had the pork tacos. We shared a small salad. We are always on the lookout for the local breweries. So we HAD to stop here. There were about 5 beers to choose from. So, we both got a Valencia (blonde ale) that was good. Outstanding? Above others we've had? Nope. But good. We were getting hungry, hoping for a bite for lunch. But I was the only one between the two of us to find anything on the lunch menu that appealed to us. Meaning the menu is a bit on the lean side. I got an empanadas that had butternut squash and cheese. That was delicious!! If you're into that kind of food, go for it! It's a good size too. As far as the ambiance, it was kind of quiet. No, let me say, very quiet. It has picnic tables throughout and there were people there. But it was just quiet. I didn't get a "fun" feel about the place. If we are passing through town again, we may stop. But I wouldn't go out of our way to go here. read more

I enjoyed the atmosphere which is artsy hip and the staff was nice. The prices were also reasonable, but.... While the seasoned fries with 3 dipping sauces were amazing (unfortunately you continue to taste them for hours), the salmon tacos (with a VERY small portion of salmon btw) were really bland. This place is great! I have never been to a brewery where I liked so many of their beers! The Belgian triple is delicious, as is the pale ale and the porter. My bf enjoyed the double IPA and the summer harvest ale too. The food is good, and the portions are large, so come hungry! Homemade bratwurst - yes please! There is an interesting mix of people, spanning many ages, and many walks of life. And everyone is having fun! It's great. There is lots of cool art on the walls and the vibe is very casual and fun. Ending our annual camping vacation up in the beautiful Sierra's with a 24 hour pit stop in BISHOP, CA. As we head out of town at high noon I am wanting a salad and Devin is ending his vacation with a beer tasting! I Yelp'd "salads" and on the south end of town we found MOUNTAIN RAMBLER BREWERY! Great service, beer, burgers, pizza's and the perfect grilled salmon salad! Homemade balsamic dressing, great plate of greens, heirloom cherry tomatoes, grated Parmesan, pepitas, radish and sliced hard boiled eggs. I asked for the salmon cooked medium and it came out perfect. Decor is basic and boring but there is lots of spacious seating, stage, projector and screen? God, I love me a good mountain brewery, and this is as good as it gets. If you find yourself passing through Bishop, take a stop here for a random night of fun. We came here just before Memorial Day/Mule Days, and the Sextones were randomly playing. $6 entry tickets gets you in for a lovely, chill, fun night. We jammed and swayed to the mountain funk as the kitchen brought us out heaps of food. The food was good -- salmon was a little undercooked for our taste, but still very good. They apologized for it not being wild caught, a sign of a good chef knowing where his food comes from and how it's caught. The thai meatballs were divine with their spicy peanut sauce. The fries were also good, and if anyone knows me, they know that I judge a place on their fries. The crispiness was perfect, and the dipping sauces provided were delicious. The atmosphere, with communal picnic tables and dim overhead string lights, was perfect. Outdoor/indoor, just like a mountain pub should be. All eating together, like we're at camp. We got to know everyone else at our tables, something that doesn't happen that often anymore. And the music, if it was any indication of the kinds of bands they book, could not have fit the mood more perfectly. The beers were great. I had an oatmeal stout that was perfect after a long day hiking and bouldering. I fell in love with the vibe at this little slice of mountain Saturdays, and I couldn't be happier to come back and hang out again. read more

This place is just awesome. Great selection of home brewed beers, starters, pizzas, burgers, salads and other entrees. The portions are big and fulfilling. The Thai Meatballs are a perfect way to start dinner. Absolutely loved them! Totally recommend the Arugula Salad with beetroot, goat cheese, etc... I added salmon for an extra goodness. The Rambler style Burger also great, with salsa on the side. The beers are a bit sparkly, more than we like them to be anyway. The Black IPA was by far the best of the 4 we tried. Prices are really competitive and service is friendly, helpful and attentive. The place has a great social/casual vibe, including long tables for best interaction with the crowd. The server was distant and avoided eye contact with the costomer.
