We just stopped here on the way back from Tahoe after looking at the online reviews. The reviewers did not let us down on this one. My husband and I got the Rambler burger which was delicious!! Great flavor and size and also came with a side of fries. I upgraded to the garlic fries which were delicious, and hubby got the regular fries which were also great. Kick it up by adding a side of ranch for the fries and yummm! Their ranch was really good. We also ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and cheese pizza. Both little eaters were very happy. My son had his eyes closed after taking the first bite of his pizza while saying this was the best pizza he ever had! We obviously had to try the pizza after that and it was also tasty. A local engineer from Eastern Sierra Engineering recommended we check out the Mountain Rambler Brewery for lunch. What a good call! I had the Veggie Burger, fries, and Blond beer. My wife had the Arugula Pasta Salad and a glass of sauvignon blanc. The burger was a bit messy but really good and well worth the mess, and the fries were just the right size and done perfectly. My wife absolutely loved the dressing on the salad and wanted to buy some dressing they don't sell to bring home. The Blond was very tasty, and the wine was excellent. Loved my veggie burger! I was getting tired of the Impossible and Beyond patties at the out restaurants in town so we stopped here for the House-made Veggie Patty Burger. The restaurant is located in the heart of Bishop. It was quite large with a huge parking lot. It an order at the counter and seat yourself restaurant where they bring your food to you. The vibe was relaxed, casual and social. There was a decent crowd when we visited but seating was easy and our food arrived quickly. The menu is a typical brewery menu. We ordered the veggie burger and the Rambler Burger. Both were the best burgers we've had in Bishop. The pretzel bun was a key ingredient. Portion size was good. Customer service was warm and friendly. The restrooms were clean and functional. I would definitely return. read more

LOVED this brewery. Came on a Saturday night and it was packed, but the food came out quickly. The burgers looked really delectable with the pretzel bun. I had the tomato soup with grilled cheese and it was delicious and the prices seemed fair. They had a baked potato on special too and it was honestly such a delicious indulgence; I hope they have it on special often. The potato was loaded with broccoli (or choice of bacon), cheese, garlic aioli and it was definitely packed chock full of indulgent flavor. We stayed in Bishop last week and went here 4 nights in a row after snowboarding in Mammoth. Got dessert (brownie a la mode) and beer three times; dinner once. Dinner consisted of the quinoa salad and veggie burger. All were comforting and tasty, and reasonably priced. The house made vanilla ice cream was especially impressive and the brownie warm and fresh. Friendly and efficient service. Lively and fun, yet laid back atmosphere. I was sad on our last night there and vowed to return, hopefully this summer. read more

Update: much improved since they opened a few years ago. See my previous review. Ordering can be a little slow if there's not two people behind the registers (all orders are done at the register at the right of the bar). Even with two servers the line got pretty long for a late afternoon Thursday. Noticed the sound deadening added to walls and ceiling making the interior good for group conversation. More pubs should do this. Reuben: decent prep but cuts of meat are subpar. Quinoa salad: very good Tablelands Belgian: Maybe a little weak but it is a 3.2% ABV beer. Singing Coyote: Good. Overall, it's good see improvement over the years. In a larger town I might have worried about Mountain Rambler's long term prospects but Bishop still has limited options. read more

Good service in a comfortable setting. Loved the fries. Tasty burgers. The Pastrami Ruben was inedible because the pastrami was very tough otherwise it was good. Perhaps their supplier wasn't up to task on the pastrami so give it a chance. read more

This place is very understated from the parking lot but what lacks ambiance makes up for it in food and service. We got a rambler burger with bacon, green chili (had me at that), cheese and LTO and a cheese burger with Swiss and both crispy fries. Cooked to a perfect median and medium rare, these burgers made us want to finish them but we came up short. Good selection of beers on tap but no ciders on tap. I love a good fresh cider. Service was very good but we also got in before a nice little rush started. They were very nice and our order came out quickly. You order at the counter and then take a seat. First off, I loved the energy here. Very chill and family friendly. Long family type picnic tables and additional seating outside. We ordered a baked potato, burger and the sausage and kraut. We stop here almost every time we're making the LA to Reno trek up 395 and we're never disappointed. Burgers are outstanding! As are the fries. Everyone is really friendly . There are so few dog friendly places that we've found and we like that we can have our dog out on the outdoor patio. Someday we'll take part in one of the brewery offerings when we don't have to hit the road - the prices look very reasonable. read more

The food and beer were good, no complaints there. However, the customer service was a very different story. As the only Latino couple in the restaurant, it was hard not to feel discriminated against. While the waitstaff were attentive and friendly to other (Caucasian) patrons, we were never approached, acknowledged, or even given eye contact. Every table around us received service, ours was clearly and consistently overlooked. It was disappointing and disheartening. I truly hope this isn't reflective of your values and that steps are taken to ensure all guests feel equally welcome and respected. read more

The food has always been good in the past, but my bleu burger today was exemplary. Quality meat and all accoutrements. Casual setting, counter ordering & grab a bench. Great air conditioning for the extreme early heat. Food is the star here, for me. I mean it IS a brewery but we don't drink. No sauce on the burger, by design which speaks for itself IMO. I usually like to go off the beaten patha bit, but this one was straight in town. All around great experience, including service, food, and games to play. Lots of different places to sit and relax, even outside. We split a burger and my husband had a beer. The burger was amazing, maybe because we were so hungry? Maybe not. It was delicious. Stopped by this brewery on our way hone from Mammoth. It's located in Bishop along the main hwy and has lots of parking. I really loved the vibe here- lots of local art and fun lighting all in a casual and laid back environment. It's dog friendly with outdoor seating available too. You seat yourself and order your food/drink in the front. They have a small variety of beers and cider to choose from. Hubby had a blonde beer (don't recall the name) and ordered their Bleu Cheese burger while I ordered the Rambler burger. Burgers were ok- we asked for our patties to be cooked "medium" but instead they were both well done. Flavorwise- it reminded me of the store bought hamburger patties I buy in the frozen section at the grocery store. Hubby felt their beer was ok and was a bit disappointed in their lack of variety. I see you! There aren't many "hip" spots out in Bishop but if there were one, this is it. It has a diverse crowd, but by diverse I mean all walks and ages of life. I was pretty much the only Asian in there, and my friend was the only Hispanic. It didn't feel weird or exclusive though. The food came out quickly enough and the burger didn't have much flavor but it was a generous size. The fries, on the other hand, were something grand. They were crispy and delicious. Just right. The beer selections were also nice. They had a good variety and the IPA I tried was good. Glad I tried this place, and will be back the next time I'm in town! read more

While the beer isn't amazing, it's definitely above average. The star of the show here, in my opinion, is the food. The options are varied, the quality is high, and the prices are CHEAP. The pizzas are better than the pizzas at most dedicated pizza joints. The salads are crisp, fresh, and enormous. As far as the beer, I really wish they had some lagers. Stopped in for dinner on the way through to Mammoth for memorial weekend. Given it was a holiday weekend, it was busier, as expected. The line to order at the counter moved quick but the kitchen had a 30-45 minute backup, so it took a while to get our food. We did get our beers right away which was nice to enjoy while we waited. They have a decent amount of seating inside and out. The Rambler burger was really good and had great toppings. The Asian chicken was also good but the chicken was clearly a premade chicken and slightly dry. Finished off with the brownie and it was Massive and came out super warm. Came here for lunch on a business trip. Upon entering the establishment no greeting. Had to ask if we seat ourselves or order at the counter. The menu is at the counter and you order your food and then seat yourself. They then give you a number to place on your table and deliver your food. I purchased the Rambler Burger with garlic fries for 1.50 more. The subtotal was $21 and some change with tax. The burger had way too many slices of lettuce and double tomatoes. It's almost as if they doubled everything except the patty. lol. The bread was soggy and the meat did not taste fresh. The bacon was really good and the green chilis pared well on the burger covering up the taste of the burger meat. The garlic fries were good however a thicker fry instead of shoe string fries would complement the burger better. Overall I feel the price doesn't match the poor quality of the burger served. Also when I asked the server for ranch for the fries she was rather rude in response. Maybe just a bad day but as a first time customer I more than likely will not be coming back. read more

Plenty of parking in the provided lot. FOOD: -RAMBLER BURGER ($14): Cooked medium, as requested. The patty itself was bland and the bottom buns were soggy and drenched in sauce of some sort... The fries it came with were OK but lukewarm and some bits were over salted. -CHICKEN WINGS ($8, 6 pieces): Seasoned Dry Rub. Little to no flavor. Asked for a size of buffalo sauce and even that was meh... The carrots and celery were the stars of this dish ); -Chicken BBQ Pizza: A friend got this, and this was the best thing I tried imo. Stayed the night in Bishop to get an early jump in the morning to head up to Mammoth for the week. We looked for something to eat on Yelp & decided it was a toss up between this place & or Schat's Roadhouse..... decided the reviews for Mountain Rambler were just a little better so we took the short drive from the hotel. An unassuming restaurant next to a veterinarian....decent outdoor patio that is dog friendly, but we felt it was better to leave the dog at the hotel due to the chill in the air! Looks like they may have (or still do) host bands inside as well. There is no table service, you order at the counter & they bring you your food. Ordered chicken wings, grilled cheese (with bacon), chicken club & tortilla soup. I wanted the chicken bowl special, but they were sold out so I decided on the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Very flavorful, but not terribly hot. Would have been great with a little sprinkle of jack cheese over the top. Grilled Cheese sandwich, they added bacon on request, was cold (disappointing) & the serving of fries was small & also cold Chicken Wings with the sauce on the side were tasty, but also not terribly hot. The Chicken Club was also OK.... Should really be cut into 4 pieces. Decent beer selection & their Scottish Ale is a gold medal winner.....hubby liked the Shieldback, said it was a good, hoppy IPA which he would compare to his LA fave Smog City.
