Came across this awesome brewery in Bishop during a camping trip. Walked in on Saturday around 5:30pm and it was very very crowded. Was lucky enough to find a table outside almost right away. Unfortunately it was super cold and windy so I was checking inside every 5 mins to see if a table had opened up yet. I got lucky maybe after 30 mins and got a table inside. They have a good selection of beers. They have a QR code right at the table so you can order and pay without even having to get up. The staff is super friendly and nice. Even though I only make it up to Bishop once a year, I will be coming here every time I come. Love this place and the people that frequent it. We were on a road trip recently and decided to stop at Mountain Rambler Brewery on a Monday for lunch...we're really glad we did! Here is what we noticed: - It was busy for a Monday, which tells you something. You order up at the bar and get a number to take to your table. - Great selection of beers...we're not IPA fans but there were a lot to choose from. - We ordered a flight of six beers...all were really good! - My wife and I split both the Veggie Burger and the Green & Blue Salad...no complaints on either: salad was super tasty and huge size, burger was flavorful and so good with the pretzel bun. - Nice casual vibe inside...would have liked to sit outdoors but it was too cold :( Bottom line: We would go back to Mountain Rambler anytime...and I'm still kicking myself for not buying a crowler of that award winning Scottish ale! read more

BF and I came in here around 8 p.m. Thursday evening on our way into Mammoth for dinner. It was super relaxed and chill, not noisy how most breweries can get in the evening. BF ordered the Reuben which had all the right flavors and the bread looked amazing. He said it was pretty good (better than the last Reuben he got from somewhere else in Bishop). I got the Rambler Burger, and they were kind enough to accommodate me with lettuce instead of the bun and no cheese. We also upgraded to garlic fries. I wish they were thicker (just my personal preference) but they were still tasty. Food came out at a decent rate piping hot and prices are reasonable. Tables were wiped down and place was clean. Will return and try a bevvy if we can next time! read more

We've driven by Mountain Rambler Brewery numerous times over the years without even noticing it existed. We finally saw it, stopped, and expect we will be returning on future trips to the Sierras. Starting with the beer I went with the Amber Ale which was a good starting point for sampling their numerous options. One thing I *really* appreciate is their beer list includes ABV (alcohol %) and IBU (measure of bitterness) so you can make an intelligent choice. Wish this was available on all menu's. If we are staying in Bishop for some hiking in the summer I would have gotten a flight. For sure. Food. There are multiple vegetarian options, including two styles of veggie burger. A big plus. I went with cheese pizza which was doughier than I prefer but still good. Partner had the impossible burger which was pretty standard; I suspect you could 'special order' the burger with some of the nice options available on the non-veggie burgers. Our carnivorous friend had the Rueben; we heard about how good it was for most of the trip to Mammoth. The atmosphere is good, paintings by presumably a local artist on the walls, bench and large long table seating with a few smaller tables on the sides, and a outdoor patio which was way too cold to use. I've been coming here for years because the food is consistently great--but the service during my recent visit was the worst it's ever been. We had an issue with a drink that tasted off and seemed old, but the staff refused to remake it and argued with us instead. One employee mentioned the manager quit last week, which honestly explains the lack of accountability. As someone who's worked in the food industry for years, I know mistakes happen--but I also know how they should be handled. Gayle, her Mom, and I had a long drive from Thousand Oaks to our home in Genoa. Before we arrived in Bishop around Lunchtime, Gayle did the research and suggested that we stop at the Mountain Rambler Brewery for a well deserved food and rest break. We were lucky to arrive before the lunch-time rush (on a Sunday no less), as this place is popular. That included snagging a nice semi-private table, getting our order in quickly, and having a chance to stretch out. The menu is fairly basic: fries, salads, burgers (chicken and beef), wings, tacos, and pizza. Our choices were a combination of burgers and pizza, which we found to be generous in helpings, and delicious. The staff at Mountain Rambler Brewery, including Zorayda, Katie, and Hans (apologies if I spelled any names wrong!), are incredibly warm, friendly, and fabulous. I've met some of the most wonderful people here, both locals and visitors. The locals are always ready to share great tips on things to do and places to go. My favorite beers are the Venusian Blonde Ale and the Moon Goddess Belgian Blonde Ale, served in a delightfully curvy glass. The hamburgers are terrific, and the empanadas, paired with a spicy chimichurri sauce, are a must-try. Don't miss the house-made ice cream and sorbet for dessert. They also host wonderful live bands on certain days, and the environment is very LGBTQ+ friendly. Plus, there's Wi-Fi available for guests. Most delicious veggie burger I've ever tasted, with a crisp and tasty bun; garlic fries copious and wonderfully crisp; quinoa salad was fantastic in terms of taste and ingredients. IPA and Coyote ale were delightful. Communal tables are a nice touch, noise level is tolerable. Service could not have been friendlier. So happy we had dinner here everything was Amazing. We read reviews on yelp and they were 100% accurate. My husband and I loved the vibe even though we are not beer drinkers. The service was friendly and they went above and beyond to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. We both ordered The Rambler Burger one regular one veggie patty with side salads. They were both delicious, cooked perfectly we had them lettuce wrapped as well. The salads were sooo yummy which is odd for a side salad lol. I had the maple dressing hubby had the balsamic. Had a week off to play in the mountains. After backpacking, the crew all wanted a cold beer and burgers. First time there I had the blond and the Rambler burger with fries. The beer was satisfying and clean, but I opted for the Kolsh on my second visit which was crisp and just what I was looking for. The Rambler was my favorite burger (had the black and blue second time in), they will cook it to order and the meat had good flavor on its own. The mix of green chilies and cheese on a pretzel bun was delish. The fries were good, real skinny like in n out but with better texture. A friend had the garlic fries and they were loaded with mounds of delectable raw garlic. The brownie was the only drawback. It was very boring, not much flavor, and the consistency appeared to be like a flourless cake. Skip on that one, maybe the lemon bar would have been better. Nice staff, and a patio where you can have the dog to chill with you. Super glad to have this place for after hike hunger! read more

On our way home and stopped for the night in Bishop, so it's time for brewery visit #206! It worked out well that MR was close by and had a dog friendly patio area with about 8 picnic tables. The inside was big and had plenty of seating. SWPFTD and I ordered up a flight to try while we decided on food, and to decide what pints we wanted. Here's the flight lineup we went with. Lenticular cream ale was first up. Nice light beer for a hot day on the patio. This was quite good and I went with a pint of it to follow up. The Sendero Mexican lager was true to style and good enough that SWPFTD passed on the red to go with the lighter beer. Dent Du Dent Kolsch was also well done. Tasty overall. Helldiver hazy IPA was quite tasty abd if it weren't so hot I would have considered a pint of it with my food. 7 Gables was a Scottish ale which I always try. Good example. Malty and flavorful. Shadow Chipmunk red was actually an imperial red and a little much for the day. Not bad, just not the beer for this particular day. We ordered a black and bleu salad, along with a Reuben sandwich. The perfect amount for the two of us to split and all of it was very good! MR is well worth your time. The beer is great and so is the food. Came up to Mammoth for a weekend and decided to hit this Joint on the way home. Ambiance was nice, wood grain everywhere and tables are setup like some picnic tables at the park. It was hard to find any available seating since everyone eating has to share a table. Initially everything was fine. Service at the counter was alright, but service after the counter was F*****g Awful. If you leave a tip make sure you leave it after you've received your food. We ordered 2 burgers w/fries, a flight of beers, iced tea (bottled only) and a salad for $70. When the wait hit 30 minutes we decided to ask an employee for an ETA on the food, at least the salad. We were met with nothing but attitude. "You're food will get here when it gets here." Our order took an hour and 15 minutes to get out to our table. The burger was soggy and mediocre, The fries were alright and the salad was tossed together in seconds. If you've read this far make sure you look past the counter at the white board for an ETA on the food then double it for a more accurate timeframe. If you're coming here to drink they have a VERY limited selection but the Norwegian Ale was good. If you read this and saw other reviews as 5 Star, I can guarantee that those people live in Bishop. If you doubt everything above try it and find out for yourself. Never going again. Good place to eat is Erick Schat's Bakery. Grab some bread and enjoy good service. read more

Year after year my favorite stop in Bishop. Have had their burger, salad, fish, homemade sorbet and ice cream, garlic fries, empanadas, and so on and enjoyed them all. A hearty lunch in a spacious room with quick turn over. Beer flights a must as their beers are good representation and have a good style. A good selection. Scottish ale hard to come by. Good ciders. Fries are cooked so well and crispy! *The Veggie Burger* is also well done, loved by the hubby and it's a great way to sneak in more veggies during a long road trip that likely need them. *The Pomegranate Molasses Salad* has very unique dressing. Stopped in after the Bishop High Sierra Ultra 53K to refuel. I'll be honest, I don't drink beer (the hubby does and really enjoyed the small batch double IPA that they had just opened that day) so a brewery normally isn't top on my list of places to visit, but I didn't want to cook at the campground after having ran/ hiked 33+ miles. I got the grilled cheese (adding pickles) with a side of fries and the hubby got a veggie burger on the pretzel bun with fries. You normally can't screw up a grilled cheese and thankfully they didn't. This one was yummy! The hubby really liked his burger too. I got a side of ranch to dip my fries in. They were the perfect amount of crispy in my book! We normally eat all our meals at our campsite when we're in town, but it's nice to know this place is an option if we don't feel like cooking. read more

Good food and great beer! They even have happy hour on weekends after 3pm! Dogs allowed only in patio. They have multiple water bowls and shade. Hard cider is 7% ABV. Wow! Their Venus Golden ale was delicious. Their oatmeal chocolate stout was tasty too. Homemade sauerkraut $3. Fries could be half regular, half sweet potato $5+. Plenty of parking. If you're here for a vet check up next door, this is the perfect place to wait and chill with your dog before or after your appointment. read more

Wow! It was lunch time and we were passing through Bishop so we did the usual dig through yelp and hope for the best. This place did not disappoint, in fact it was SO good that my husband and I were both instantly compelled to write a positive review and we are not review people. It's that feeling like this place is so good that you feel like it's an act of public service to tell everyone, "Dude! Try this place." We ordered the veggie burger, the tempeh Reuben special and a cheese pizza. I would order all again, but the sandwiches, especially the Reuben were next level! The service and vibe were also something to note. The place is mostly self-service but you get the feeling from the quality of the food and helpfulness of the staff that they take pride in what they are doing. For example, we ordered a brownie with our food and they kindly asked if we would want it at the end of our meal, I said sure for the surprise factor as we were celebrating Father's Day. I got a little worried as the line grew and we were wrapping up our meal, I thought for sure they would forget but as my husband went to the bathroom, the server came out quickly with the brownie. It was a great surprise, made possible by the kindness of the staff. We've eaten at a lot of restaurants this week and like most people I've grown accustomed to restaurants that over charge, under serve, and lack heart and quality food so THANK YOU to this little brewery for giving us a meal to remember. Great little brewery spot in bishop! We stayed in bishop after a day of skiing and were so excited to see something actually open at 8pm on a Saturday haha! We made a stop in and got a beer and the sweet potaato fries. The beer was great, the place was lively and the fries were delicious! Loved the decor and the art work for sale on the walls. Great empanada. I had the beef with mozzarella. Brussels sprouts excellent and simple with olive oil and salt. The wife and daughter had grilled cheese and soup and mentioned how hearty and nice it was on a cold windy evening. Enjoyed IPA not sure the name. Came here on my way back from snowboarding in Mammoth on a Sunday night and there was barely anyone in there before 4am. Had the chicken tortilla soup and it was so good: it was a pretty large portion. Who doesn't like big things? Then tried their Apple cinnamon empanada, because I hadn't eaten and was hungrier than a hostage. I also sipped on a delicious blonde ale, the Venusian, @ only 4.8% alcohol content. -Don't laugh at me- I'm lightweight ! Dwayne at Mountain Rambler Brewery. He's here often and asks EVERYONE for handouts. Today he is sitting here by himself but he's still asking for money and food.... Not asking for a seat next to me(which is his usual MO). I've watched patrons here move inside just to get away from him. Today he was yelling that "I should call the police or Sherriff's office". This has happened way too many times in my experience and the staff just shrug it off and allow him to hang out. I've personally witnessed a patron get aggressively pursued by this person to the point that Dwayne insisted on sitting at his table. The patron left his dinner and went inside and complained to the staff... and I followed him inside to witness this complaint. After the staff poo pooed the complaint saying that the guy was harmless.... I supported the guy's complaint. Later they served Dwayne a free drink. I complained about him just now. He's back again. Went to Bishop for a couple day's to get away and I was pleasantly surprised to find a killer little brewery in town. I tried a variety of their beers. All were delicious, I even enjoyed the beer cheese french fries. Forgot to take a picture of the food, cause I was enjoying the beautiful mountain views. The service was friendly and helpful.
