Vegan Acorn Squash Torta- super tasty
    Najwa G.

Moxie is a tiny little cafe/restaurant tucked away with some awesome food. I am usually not the type to ever go for vegan food but did at this spot and didn't regret it. I ordered the vegan acorn squash torta and enjoyed it a lot. There was a generous amount of squash on it cooked perfectly and everything went really well together. The torta itself was also super fluffy and delicious. I especially loved the cashew chipotle aioli as it was very unique and tasty. All in all, a great shop with great staff.

Cute, convenient little shop that maybe has 3-4 tables. Pay, sit, get served! Really fresh quality ingredients and fast service. Options of vegetarian and gluten free (+$3 for gf bread) Large portions too. Easy street parking too!

BEST KALE SALAD IVE EVER HAD !!!! I always pick up lunch from here & bring it over to Denver Health but this was the first time I've tried the kale salad. My bank account is going to hate this new addiction! Other favorites: chicken noodle soup, chicken curry sandwich

I really appreciated the options on the menu, especially the soup choices that all looked house made. It offered Asian influenced dishes along with American style breakfast and lunch items. The place was spacious and had lots of natural light. The staff were very friendly and quick to help. The food did seem overly spiced, whether it was too much salt or pepper or drenched in sauce. It could have used a little less in my opinion.

Moxie has been my go-to GF breakfast spot since moving to Denver in September 2022. Moxie gets their GF sandwich bread from Deby's, an entirely GF bakery in Colorado, and it's always excellent. Many of their other menu items (street frites, salads, and soups) are GF naturally as well. I was once given a regular bread instead of GF (I noticed bc I constantly live paranoid) so I do recommend always double checking when you receive you're food - "hey, this is the GF bread, right?" Staff is knowledgeable and always willing to change gloves and equipment for me! I recommend the breakfast torta on GF. Lots of veg (vegan & vegetarian) options, too.

Salmon egg "benedict." If you're confused, I understand. I was too!

I wanted to like this place much more than I did. We walked by and it smelled good, so we got two breakfast items to take out. The salmon "benedict" was ice cold when we got home. It was also not a benedict. This dish had smoked salmon on a burnt, soggy piece of toast with an undercooked egg (fried, not poached) and zero discernible hollandaise. See the photo; it was so sad and unappetizing. They have English muffins - I don't understand the choice of toast, especially since it gets so soggy. The chicken sausage breakfast sandwich (served on an English muffin) was okay, but the whole thing - especially the egg - was pretty flavorless. Maybe this is more of a lunch place?

    Lambwich

I was recommended this place by a local and decided to give it a shot. The pictures do not look very good I have to say. I ordered the lambwich and was pleasantly surprised how delicious it was. The meat was tender and ciabatta was good. It was an overall really great sandwich. Casual atmosphere- order first and seat yourself.

The vegan squash torta was so good! It's a casual restaurant which you order at the counter then they bring your food to the table. I've never had a torta like this before and I really enjoyed trying something different! There is street parking and a few lots around where you can park though it does cost.

This was a solid lunch option today! The interior isn't huge but the portions are! Awe loved our salads here especially mine. The process is you order then sit down. Everything is made to order along with friendly service. We'd definitely would come back here to try one of their sandwiches. There is metered parking near and around the corner if necessary. Well done Moxie!

Ok - forgive my photography. I wasn't expecting to post lol. I travel to Denver once a year and every time I'm planning my trip I start dreaming of Moxie's Warm Kale Salad! It's so good! The team there is so kind. In addition it's the cutest little spot. My only complaint is that it's not open longer! I want to eat there for dinner too! See you again next year Moxie!

    Spicy Thai Chicken Salad
    Jessica R.

Moxie is a quaint local fusion restaurant, along Broadway in Denver, with tiny tables, an open kitchen, simple decor and many vegan and GF options of all varieties. The chocolate chip was not our fav, but it was a vegan, GF option and not quite our jam. Spicy Chicken Thai salad: reminds me of a Korean cucumber kimchi mixed with chicken breast and a few other things. Most notably in this dish is a distinct cucumber kimchi flavor. Kimchi being one of my most favorite foods, I didn't complain. I'm not sure what was "Thai" about this dish ‍ but it was awesome. Very little lettuce in the bowl but it was delicious all around. Falafel Waffle salad: this isn't really a "salad" in terms of what a traditional salad might be, but nonetheless was a unique dish. The tomato, red onion, feta and cucumber mix was at the bottom of the bowl, with a...well, falafel but in the shape of a waffle on top. The cumin yogurt was fantastically flavored. It seemed to contrast in ingredients, yet together all tasted wonderful. Chicken Ramen: great flavor, chicken pieces, and the egg is more of an egg omelet (think sushi tamago) and not a whole boiled egg like in many ramen dishes. Overall a great bowl of ramen. Chicken Confit (*special*): a chicken quartet over mashed potatoes, a side of spring mix salad and, just...wow! Loved it. Unsweetened iced tea was very refreshing, a slight hint of mint was just the right twist for a hot and sunny day. The three of us crammed into a table meant for 1.5 persons, splitting 4 entrees because we wanted to taste so many things. Couldn't order everything on the menu but we would have if we could. No public restrooms that we saw, unfortunately which meant no hand washing station :( but that's not uncommon around Denver. We had some saniwipes, thankfully.

Small hipster eatery. I had a turkey and Brie sandwich that was delicious. The fig jam made it. A smidge pricey but good quality eats.

Location (4 stars) This restaurant is downtown near the convention center. parking is pricy if you valet park at the hotel. Last year it was around $40. Parking in the lot across the street for $25 dollars Easter Sunday. If you use a walker, I would not recommend the parking lot across the street. Food (3 Stars) The Thanksgiving buffet is the best one. I would rate that buffet a (4). The Christmas and Easter buffet are pretty low key. There is a carving station (ham and prime rib). There is an omelet station. Dessert bar is decorative. Cheesecake was delicious. The warming station with potatoes, sausage etc. leaves much to be desired. The charcuterie station is sparse. They offer unlimited mimosas for an additional $25. Service (5 stars) Staff are extremely friendly. Cleanliness (2 stars) My only complaint, I saw a tabletop being cleaned off with a rag used to clean the chairs and then under the table on the floor and on to the next tabletop. I'm just a little picky about that. Especially since folks these days go commando and wear short attire, and you know their parts are on the chair and now spread to tabletops. Wiping up the crumbs off the floor with same rag simply through me over the edge. Atmosphere (4 stars) Spacious uncrowded environment. Nice decor. Bright with large windows.

I saw Former Saint on CBS News, and the menu and food looked incredible. In particular, that white chocolate blueberry cheesecake was something I know my hubby would look forward to all week! I loved the idea of local food and fresh homemade dishes. Sounds healthy, after a week of potential over-indulgence at other restaurant week venues. An additional bonus was that it is located right near the Denver Convention Center and the Performing Arts Center. This has become a dry spot for fine dining, with even the choices on Larimer Square growing more thin, giving rise to the inability to get reservations at favorites like Tamayo and Rioja prior to a show. I go to performances frequently with friends, and despite my rule to avoid hotel restaurants (Former Saint is in the Hyatt Regency), I thought I'd scope out Former Saint as a place to take my friends before the next symphony or Children's Chorale or ballet or broadway performance. I must say, the jury is still out. Former Saint was a Jekyll and Hyde of courses. Parking was not difficult (Yay, maybe I can park here prior to my shows, if I grab a bite first). There is a large garage, and the promise of validation from the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is typical hotel restaurant. Booths, tables, old and a bit drab. Except for the bar. Oh, my! The bar has this BEAUTIFUL copper creation above it, adding so much industrial character to the space! I was in awe looking at it, as it appeared to bring craft suds to the bartender's taps. I didn't ask how it worked, as it wasn't clear how the beer separation and dispensing worked, but it was a great centerpiece and spectacle for the place. I do wish I had investigated more about this architectural marvel, and will do so if I return. For restaurant week, my husband chose the Lobster Ravioli, Ribeye, and blueberry cheesecake (as predicted). I chose the Gotham salad, roasted chicken, and key lime tart. The lobster ravioli was nice; my husband was surprised that it was a toasted ravioli, but enjoyed it. My salad was full of beautiful greens, pears, walnuts, and feta. No scrimping here! The dressing was light and sweet/sour. The pears were a bit unripe and crisp, to the point that I was having trouble identifying exactly what fruit I was eating, but other than that, the salad was beautiful, healthy, and ample. My husband's ribeye steak was a nice cut, done to his liking. Slivered hash browns were underneath with a nice green chimichurri on top and some sliced Fresnos adding a welcome kick to the dish. My chicken was delightful. 1/2 chicken on the bone, seasoned nicely, and with a pan sauce. The breast was super-tender and delicious. It came atop cheesy grits, which was a yummy substitute for a mashed potato. I also was served side salad of curly lettuce and fennel. I probably didn't need more salad, but I was glad to have the healthy side on my plate. I will say that this salad was over-seasoned. The chicken and grits were great, but the salad too salty. My husband ordered a glass of J. Lohr Cabernet, which was a very nice find on the wine list, as far as a pairing for his ribeye. That said, the glass cost $30! A bit much, I might say. The real detractor, unfortunately, was dessert. The blueberry cheesecake looked nothing like the beautiful creamy white cheesecake accented throughout by purple blueberries, which I saw on the CBS News clip. My husband was served a very small solid purple slice, overcome with whipped cream dollops. This cheesecake had been uncovered in the fridge too long, with sort of a skin on it. My husband ate almost none of it. My key lime tart was similarly over-adorned with whipped cream, although I had some nice raspberries on top. The tart also seemed overexposed to the cool air, with the thickening of a skin on top. It was a very disappointing way to end a nice meal, and belied the healthy, homemade, craft theme. High points of this experience include the well-crafted and healthy entrees, the fact that we could see the convention center right outside our window (i.e., the location is perfect for pre-event or -theater), the $3.00 validated parking fee, and that beautiful copper tap system. Will the pros outweigh the cons? Will we be back with friends? Time will tell.

Laid back vibe and welcoming staff. Nothing pretentious at all. The bartenders were knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. Always stayed on top of my drinks. The thing I like most about Death & Co is the way the categorize their drinks: Light and playful, bright and confident, elegant and timeless, boozy and honest, and rich and comforting. I had the aqua profunda (cognac, St. George basil eau di vie, lillet rose, strawberry, lime, and absinthe). I also had the eight limb daiquiri (rum, Canada aguardiente, Thai tea cordial, lime leaf, and Maraschino). The Blood Oath (mezcal, Vecchio del capo, Calabrian chili amaro, St. Germain Elderflower, lavender, honey, lemon). All were complex and delicious.
