If any place deserves 5 stars, it is Mozart's cafe. 21 years ago, my parents bought their wedding cake here, and they thought it would be nice to take me, her friend, and her daughter out to brunch here as it was her anniversary. Not only was the food spectacular and the cakes spectacular, the service, atmosphere, and music was beyond our expectations. While dining here, we sat in front of the pianist and vocalist Paul Weiss who provided us with beautiful classical music. But, out of the blue, Paul started singing a Tom Waits song, a singer that is extremely special to my mom. Mr. Weiss was kind enough to play and sing requests from my mom and made her day extremely special. Paul, we are so grateful that you were able to make our day with your wonderful, vibrant voice and passion for Tom Waits music! We had a bad experience as Mozart's quite a few years ago. We were not satisfied with certain items of our food and the waiter would not agree to refund the items we purchased. We were very polite about which items we enjoyed and would be willing to pay for, and were not rude in any way or trying to scam them, but they still would not comp the certain items we did not eat. Very frustrating. Food simply not that impressive, go somewhere else and save the money if you are looking to go out to eat and have fun. This was a bad experience, really was just weird. This place has a stuffy vibe anyway and a strange seating arrangement, and the menu is boring. If this place actually had really good food, that would be one thing, but the food is super mediocre for the price point and boring. I speak strictly about the brunch at the restaurant, however I am happy to give 5-stars off of that alone. I must say that this establishment is a bit quirky, both in its location and its service, however the establishment is beautifully designed, and the brunch menu is spectacular. For those looking for something a little more decadent and slow moving, I would highly recommend coming here to get a weekend morning started. There is an extensive pastry menu and they are all well-made and elegantly designed. I would recommend to anyone coming here to order an omelet of any kind, your favorite pastry, and bring some company to carry on a conversation while you wait. I should start by saying that I came to Mozart's with a Groupon in hand. I enjoyed my experience at Mozart's. A group of four of us went for the afternoon tea. We had a reservation, and we were seated immediately. We selected our tea, and everything else was already selected as part of the tea service. The food was fantastic. Each set of two people split a tower of little sandwiches and sweets. The sandwiches were very tasty. But I especially loved the desserts, with the outstanding marzipan peach that I ended up buying another of as I left. I'd definitely go back for more of those. As for the price, I think it was pretty steep without the Groupon. I'm not sure I would go back without one. Except to pick up marzipan treats. They were fantastic. read more

Service: The waiter was awesome..A+ Food: I got the turkey dinner quiche and the bf got Wolfgang's breakfast sandwich. Mozart's is a great place. I do think it is the best bakery in Columbus. The scones are the best I have ever had. They have a sweet cafe with really nice entrees. I love the garden spaetzel. Attended a Sunday afternoon tea for a bridal shower and it was a delight. The pastries were so cute and scrumptious. There were a variety of options they served on a 3 tier platter, savory breads and mini sandwiches on the bottom, desserts in the middle and the top were soft biscuits accompanied by whipped butter and heavenly jam. Of course it wouldn't be a tea party without tea, we had earl grey and Moroccan mint, which were also great. It's not on the brunch menus but we had a few mimosa and those were a hit too. You'd expect our server to have been overloaded with a party of 15 loud unrelenting woman but he was very courteous and tried to be as attentive as he could be. Was a great rehearsal dinner and very accommodating to all of our needs, including amply spacing people out to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, having servers to serve us in a buffet style manner, last minute additions to our guest count, and providing a pianist to play for us while we dined. Their customer service leading up to the event was amazing with very prompt replies and flexibility in accommodating for gluten free folks and others with severe nut allergies. The owner met me as soon as I arrived and told me the plan and asked if I needed anything to be changed. Atmosphere was classy and elegant. One of the bridesmaids spent the first 10 minutes of the rehearsal dinner walking around in wonder of the beauty of the place. Great food. I went to the Mozart Birthday celebration. The food was just ok. Everything else was bad. We barely saw our waiter. Half our group didn't even get silverware after asking multiple times. We finally had to take some from another table. Salad dressing was dropped on my friend by a waiter. The waiter had no idea who ordered anything so some of our party ended up with 2 salads. Even the music was poorly done with the sound level of the microphone being far too loud that we could barely hear instruments over it. read more

Right, so I tried the carrot cake and key lime pie. The carrot cake had no flavor of carrot, but a massive taste of marzipan. The icing on the cake had a weird consistency. Not good. The key lime pie had a good flavor, but the pie crust was slightly undercooked and soggy. Not impressed by this bakery. They should spend less money and get a smaller location, so they can invest a little more in their products. read more

I came here to meet a friend the other day for a pastry and coffee. After we sat down we were informed that to dine in you're supposed to order off the menu and that you can't just eat a pastry, but that the server would do it this one time. For the remainder of our time there we were consistently reminded that we were not supposed to just order a pastry. It was honestly really awkward and a terrible experience. Originally we were supposed to have the wedding reception at Mozart's however due to Covid-19 we decided on an intimate ceremony and have Mozart's cater the food and bake our wedding cake. Throughout the whole planning process, Janelle, Mozart's event manager, was incredibly understanding and helpful. Very fast responses to all my e-mails and just a very pleasant person to work with. The food tasted amazing (we went with the Swiss chicken and the beef Stroganoff with mashed potatoes and Ratatouille for sides) and the cake was honestly GORGEOUS on the outside and was very fresh and very balanced on the inside. We ordered a mini variety dessert tray with the cake and that also received so many compliments on being very yummy. All the portions were generous and the quality of all the food and desserts was fantastic. Mozart's came through with all the changes and both the owner Anand and Janelle were very easy to work with and very understanding. I couldn't recommend them enough. I've been to Mozarts' quite a few times mostly for the Afternoon Tea or to pick out pastries. I have always had a nice experience. The Afternoon Tea is lovely. If you follow groupon, there is often a deal for you to buy. There are several tea options to choose from so you are sure to find one you like. The tea sandwiches are varied and all tasty. The scones with jam and cream are delicious. The desserts (including a marzipan peach) are wonderful. We try to do this once a year. The dessert case can be hit or miss. We generally enjoy the pastries. We love the marzipan treats. Some of the cakes and tortes can be dry so look at the desserts in the case carefully and be selective. I have only gone once for lunch. I was with some friends from work and we all enjoyed the food and service there. It can be pricey, but is a good choice if you are looking to treat yourself. I haven't gone for breakfast yet. But I will someday. If you ever go when the piano player is there, be sure to appreciate the skillful playing. The last time we visited Mozarts, we went over and talked to him for a bit. Yet another Columbus institution I hadn't gotten to yet! We went for brunch, and were happily surprised! Espresso drinks were delicious (I got the mocha), and the boozy offerings looked good as well, based on the bloody Mary I saw a server walking by with. The quiche I had was great--smoky ham and bacon in a very tender crust, topped with swiss cheese. The fruit it came with was the perfect complement to the richness of the quiche. This is the second time I have visited this location since they moved several years ago. The quality of the food is still excellent, however the service was not very good. First of all, I stood at the entrance to the dining area where other guests were eating for several minutes as a couple of the wait staff past me without saying a word. I finally asked one of them as she past me for the second time if I could sit anywhere when she asked if I would be dining in. There were about five other tables occupied at the time, as the manager went to each one to inquire if they were enjoying their meal...except ours! My son and I decided to purchase some dessert to go, and again we had to stand there in front of the dessert case for several minutes before we were asked if we would like something. Finally got the chance to stop by the new Mozart's location this afternoon. I had been to the old location once before and thought it was a little worse for wear, but this newly renovated location is kind of amazing. It's huge with lots of parking. We stopped in just for an afternoon snack and caffeine fix. I had my favorite marzipan peach(a super cute marzipan peach rolled in colored sugar and filled with fruit filling and butter cream...doesn't get much tastier) and I also tried a lemon petit four, which was almost too pretty to eat. Both tasted delicious. I also ordered a cafe mocha and while it was good, it was very, very rich and the coffee flavor was kind of lost(it really just tasted like I was drinking hot chocolate). The piano was going and that always makes your snack time feel a little classier and special. I love coming here and can't wait to be back when I live closer. read more

Had dinner last night at the new location. Was a little nervous as the local paper highlighted the place in the news yesterday. We had a 15 min wait for a table of 2. Ordered the cream of mushroom soup, which was excellent. It had obviously seen some cream and the mushrooms seemed a bit stronger than the usual button mushrooms, perhaps crimini or portabella? The entree was a piece of veal schnitzel as big as the whole plate. The veal was very nicely fried and tasty. Could have used some more lemon juice to add some flavor. When I requested a piece of lemon, I was brought such a thin silver, it was impossible to juice. Accompaniments to the veal were some homemade spatzle. Have been to Vienna and grew up on Hungarian food. These were outstanding, very light and fluffy. The green beans, which also came with the veal appeared to be French haricot verts and were expertly crisp steamed. Perfect! My dinner companion had the veal schnitzel sandwich, which was also very tasty and a side of the spatzle. For dessert, we both had a vanilla and chocolate mousse cake, I believe it is the Opera cake? Very light and airy, not too heavy, which was nice after a large meal. We each had a soft drink. Service was good, although they were very, very busy. The check for all this came to $52 with tax & tip, which seemed very reasonable. The new space is lovely, with a piano player and a more formal setting than their previous location. There does appear to be a large banquet room, which would be nice for a luncheon or wedding. The owner was very much in evidence, ensuring things were flowing smoothly. The new home of Mozart's is gorgeous thanks to a year long renovation that restored the building's 1920s style and added a lovely patio space, but there are some teething issues. I stopped by with my wife for a Friday night dessert and staff didn't seem to know quite how to handle us just wanting gelato and a cookie or two compared to the people coming in for a full meal. Getting rung out took longer than you'd expect, and I overheard several other people having issues with their checks. That said, the things we tried (vanilla petit fours and a Tiramisu gelato for me, chocolate p.f. and a scoop of the chocolate truffle for my wife) were wonderful, and lived up to the quality you'd expect with Mozart's long history here in Columbus. I'm sure that they issues will get smoothed out as the team gets used to the new location and expanded offerings, and I look forward to making this a semi-regular stop for some special treats. read more

Mozart's has been a Columbus staple for many years. I have had take-out previously (the Hungarian goulash soup is perfection) but I had not dined there yet. Tonight was the night to try it. Mozart's has a small dining room with a piano playing quiet background music. I ordered the Stiegl Pilsner (Austrian) which was crisp and light with no hoppy aftertaste. For my entrée, I had the ham and gorgonzola spaetzel. It was out-of-this-world good. Such refined flavors, so thoroughly delightful. I was sorry to see it disappear! Things have apparently gotten a lot better around here in terms of service and in terms of tea and accommodating people with food allergies/intolerance. I finally got to a point in my life where eating wheat and gluten is off the table after about 8 years of issues---before it was "trendy" to be gluten free. Believe me. There is nothing trendy about it. I miss you regular bread. With a 24 hour notice when I made my reservation, I was able to be accommodated very well. Gluten free bread, toast instead of scones, etc. I felt like I was very well taken care of, because I know some places, the answer is to just eat whatever it is without bread, which works most of the time, but I'm glad it wasn't the case today. Sad. I really wanted this to be great. I headed for brunch with my sister and our significant others and the Northstar line was just way too long. Mozart's seemed like a good choice, I've never heard bad things and the marzipan peach is just famously delicious. We all tried different things and no one was excited about any of it. We ended up with an $80 tab for less food than expected and nothing super great to show for it. I had a portabella sandwich (chewy and the crust was so hard it cut my mouth), my husband had the Tyrolean Special (not as much food as they imply) and we split a waffle (one small belgian waffle). I think my sister had an omlette that was just ok. I just can't think it would be a good idea to come back unless its for the desserts. read more

I went there for afternoon tea once for my birthday and it was lovely, the service was good (we never had to ask for one thing and the server kept the hot water flowing.) A friend of mine had never done one before so I called 48 hours ahead (their website says they need 24 hours notice.) I asked to schedule an afternoon tea and when I told the man when I wanted to do he said "oh no, we can't do it THIS Thursday!" (This was in the Spring) I told him I was confused, the website said 24 hours notice and he said they were too busy that day to do it. If that's the case, you might want to note that 2-3 days notice is more appropriate. I waited quite a few months to try to schedule again as that left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. This time I scheduled a week out and there was no problem with the day I chose. However, the service was skittish at best. She delivered our food before we even gave our tea order so we had to sit and let it steep for almost 10 minutes because the water wasn't hot enough. We had to ask for the honey and creamer we were told we'd get and I had to get up to flag her down. We saw her once after our food was delivered and I had to wave her down to refill our water. (My husband and I got 4 pots of tea each the first time and we barely got two this visit.) The scones were either stale or overbaked and hard. We had to put quite a bit of cream and jam on top to cover it up. I was also disappointed to see their signature marzipan peach that we each got at my first tea is no longer included in the tea. They swapped it out for a dry and tasteless, in comparison, slice of bread of some sort. We had to pile the jam and cream on that too. I asked for a peach to split and paid extra for it just so she could try it. So if I'm comparing the two experiences, the quality on both service and food has gone way downhill where afternoon tea is concerned and not just the service but quality of food. Everything from food to tea was lukewarm. Not to mention we felt completely rushed by the rest of the staff to leave. They kept walking by and looking at us as we were talking and to the point I asked if they were closing soon about the fifth time they did it. She said they closed at 5pm and it wasn't even 4pm yet! (This was a different employee by the way, not our server, she left so we were never tended to the rest of the time.) When we got up to leave 20 minutes later at 4:15pm, all of the bar stools were on the bar up front and they had been removing rugs beside us as we talked which, frankly, was rude. They still had 45 minutes left of business!! When we left and said how weird it was they were rushing us out, a whole family was coming in so I can only imagine if they were staying how they felt. I'm really disappointed that this was my friends first impression of afternoon tea given my expectation from the previous experience a year ago. I love afternoon tea and have been to many of them in many cities so I know how they should be. While this is the closest place to me, I think that might've been my last at Mozarts. Sad. read more

Was advertised on menu with portobello Demiglace, but it wasn't served with it, which seemed weird. Waitress was not readily available to get it corrected. After our meal, we tried to order dessert while seated and were told we had to do so at the pastry counter? Weird. Lastly, we waited for our check for a *full 30 minutes* and finally had to ask for it. Waited 10 minutes more, still no check. Waitstaff were practically ignoring us and had to raise my voice to even get anyone's attention. Love your pastries, but seriously need to work on your service and adhering to the menu. read more

I wish we had Mozart's in Temecula. Oh the pastries! Oh the coffee! Oh the live music on a grand piano! Besides ice cream, they also have Baileys and Kailua to add. If you sit in the "sidewalk cafe" area, you can hear the piano and it's quieter than the busy main room. Mozart's is a fine example of a five-star business. I've visited their new, much larger location several times now. I love it. The atmosphere makes you forget about busy High St just outside. Piano music fills the air, sometimes played live by a skilled older gentleman - tipping him was a no-brainer. The interior is a combination of open spaces and more intimate enclosed rooms. You can reserve a space for large parties. The pastries and desserts are still stunningly good. The marzipan peach is STILL my favorite. I love the selection of things you get for afternoon tea. Just make a reservation! Other than the new (renovated) building, the biggest improvement is the food itself. The food at the old location was consistently 3 to 4 stars. Went here for the first time for brunch. I liked the atmosphere of this little place. They had a pianist playing music. The food was yummy. I had their Belgian waffles with their home made berry sauce, home potatoes, and bacon. Their Lorraine quiche was pretty good and so was their omelette. We truly enjoyed our dinner at Mozart's. Everything we ordered was excellent and the service was perfect. Two of our threesome started with a cup of the Hungarian Goulash, and the third had Cream of Mushroom Soup. The goulash was richly flavored with a tiny but welcome bite that never distracted from the taste. The mushroom soup was rich without being too thick and had a hint of something (sherry?) that made it truly outstanding. We ordered three different entrees; all three are highly recommended. The Chicken Paprikash was tender and extremely tasty. The Beef Stroganoff was also tender and richly flavored. Both dishes' accompanying Spatzle was a perfect complement. The Ham Gorgonzola Spatzle was equally enjoyable: tasty without being overspiced. While we hardly had room for dessert, the wide array of European Tortes and Cakes was too enticing to bypass. The Apple Strudel was delicately delicious, and the Mozart Torte was equally enjoyable. The service was attentive without being smothering. We definitely will return when we visit Columbus again. read more

I am a regular at Mozart's. I come with friends, with family, attend parties, and sometimes just stop in for a drink or a cup of coffee. I have *never* received anything but polite, prompt service, am always greeted warmly at the door, and neither the food or pastries ever disappoint. Probably my favorite thing about Mozart's is that you can show up in flip flops or dressed to the nines and are treated well no matter what. I often bring my son with me, and he loves that he can play with the Legos. The staff is always incredibly friendly to him, letting him pick out ice cream and even taking a turn working the hostess stand. In addition to the fantastic food and service, the owners are tirelessly devoted to the community, and provide a lovely venue for fundraisers and other community events. I also know that if any experience is subpar for any reason, they will go above and beyond to rectify the situation and make every attempt to retain their customers. I simply can not say enough about this place. Give it a try -- you won't be disappointed! read more
