Loved Mr. A Ok's! Got the Fried Chicken, Fried Okra and mashed potatoes. Everything was really good, if I had one criticism it would be the fried okra which was almost definitely from frozen. But the chicken was right in and the taters were good. Great service too, very friendly bunch. read more

Small place a little hard to find but so very worth it!!! We had chicken fried chicken and fried fish, both were excellent!!! The greens were amazing as were the black eyed peas and green beans. I went to this restaurant because of a review on Kens5 Neighborhood eats. I ordered smothered pork chops and was very disappointed. When ordering pork chops at other places I have always received the center cut. I got my order to go. Got home and discovered very thin assorted cuts of pork. Mac n cheese tasted like mix from box. Greens were good. Cornbread tasted like mix also. Don't think that I'll be going back. read more

Just had lunch today Sat 11:00 AM- super friendly folks who work there. Food was awesome - had CFS, mashed potatoes, greens and cornbread. Everything was perfect. This place came up on Yelp and we gave it a shot. The food was super good. Cornbread was great...was told the wife of the cook makes it. We tried the pork chops, Fried chicken and hamburgers while some cherry Kool-Aid as the drink. If you're looking for great food and a warm atmosphere, this is the place to go! Hands down one of the BEST food experiences we've had in a very long time! Very small, hole in the wall establishment with excellent food and even better service! The owner greeted us personally and even gave us extra food to go because we traveled from out of town (Seguin) to her restaurant. We could tell the food was made to order - it was still piping hot long after they brought it out! At first I thought the prices were a little on the high side, but the portion sizes are so huge that it was definitely worth it. First time visit, small place . The waitress was very nice. Some of the waffles and other thing Asian ribsthey had already ran out. Went around 3-4pm .I wanted to try the oxtail Omg , omg the best I've had in years. The sides awesome! My brother in law liked it all and he is a picky eater. OMG!!!! This place is everything and then some. I have been on more than one occasion.. Talk about southern hospitality and the true definition of home cooking. Grape Kool Aid perfect, my son had Cherry Kool Aid which he loved. I had smothered pork chops over white rice, collard greens, and candied yams, my son had smothered chicken home cut French fries, and dirty rice, my oldest son went with meatloaf, collard greens, Mac, and candied yams. I highly recommend this wonderful little place with some great food and a down home atmosphere. My mother saw a local food critic's review of this casual dining place and wanted to try it out for her birthday luncheon. I live in Houston and wasn't quite sure how this was going to work out. I called and spoke with someone who was friendly and excited about the opportunity to host our gathering of 20 people. When we arrived everything was setup and they began to take our order because all entrees are made at time of ordering. From the Catfish to the Chicken Fried Chiken to the Fried Meatloaf to the Chicken and Waffles...everything was AWESOME. Our server Leah was friendly and attentive to our needs. The Kool-Aid (yep Kool-aid) was awesome as well. Just a wonderful dining experience with warm people. I look forward to visiting them again when I'm in town!
