Does anyone here remember a time or place when you could take your car for some work to be done and KNEW you were getting only what needed to be done at the best possible price? I had forgotten what that was like too til i made it too Mr. Brake. After reading reviews from a few places that clearly had written 95% of their positive ones (you dont have to be an english major to spot a repetitive pattern emerge in them, asshats) I came across the apparently real , humorous, and colorful reviews sharing their experience with Mr Brakes,. what i found was a repetitive theme of honesty, great prices, and quality work filtered through everyones unique perspective and worldview. .....the one here that really made me lulz is from the liberal girl who said she has a pic of her vag on her visor that loved this place and Mark, despite her perception of his political leanings..,. and yeah, he could be a Mitt stand-in. Knowing my car takes specialty pads, rotors and calipers, I knew to expect higher than average quotes from everyone i called and got them, except from ''just brakes'' , were all the kid could tell me was $99, and said an actuall quote couldnt be given til they did an inspection, not even a quote because the extras my particular sets require, ...what a tip off to their upscale scam. After calling in the morning to possibly get an estimate on cost, i was told they would try but very busy so it could be a while before they got back to me. I called back before the end of the day, realizing making an appointment was the way to go like multiple people here had suggested, and when i did Mark gave a $ for labor and pads, (i figured thats all I needed based on miles sine the last time they where changed) and it was way more reasonable than everybody else, half as much as the delaership. Got in the next day on time, they were ready with a bay open, took about five minutes to get the wheels off and up on the rack, and Mark brought me out to show exactly what was going on. I had been hearing and feeling the metal on metal for a few days so my imagination was picturing some thing way worse. The rotors (all 4)were fine with a little resurfacing, needed pads in the front but the back could go a little while longer , but since one side only had a couple hundred miles to go i opted to get all 4 pads done..he explained the uneven wearing do to the caliper which is unusual for this type, but his experience with these special ones is that they go for at least 90k miles more for my mileage . he also didint just tell me but showed how the shocks and struts are in great shape too. . . this is usually the time when thieving operations and service writers will start a great work of fiction about what you need they call an estimate , but i like to call the problem reaction solution upsell paradigm.. The price for what i needed was about 70 more than he told me the day earlier which i mentioned and to his credit, he admitted he had priced a different series of the same type of car with sp0ecial brake needs, and we met half way on the price difference .. we all fuck up from time to time and it's refreshing to meet someone who admits it without hesitation and resolves the mistake fairly. His price was still way better than any other quote i was given, the work performed very expediently and professionally..... all the guys here know their shit and and Mark has a very smooth running, honest , upfront and open business that's truly old school..... before they were saying old school.. I'll definitively be back for any work my ride may need and direct anyone i know in Mr Brakes direction too, and as cliche as is may come accross, my regret is that i hadnt found him sooner and that he doesnt do anything else besides brakes and shocks ... i guess it's better to be a master of a few trades than a dabbler in many.. kudos Mark and the gang! read more

After reading so many nice reviews about Mr. Brake here on Yelp... I just drove out to his shop and the owner... Mark opened to door to his business and fit me in "right away" even though he had a number of scheduled appointments. Mark was very nice and explained everything to me. He took his time (even as busy as his was) too focused on my brake issues. There was ABSOLUTELY no question in my mind that his "Integrity and Honesty" was something hard to find in his type of industry. I then decided that I was in GOOD hands to have him to work on my brakes. He gave me a great price vs the service department where our car was purchased. As a matter of fact the dealer wanted more than (5) times more money to fix my brake issue vs what Mr Brake charged me. The mechanic who worked on my car was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant as he machined the rear rotors without delay, and my problem was FIXED. All this without having to lose money from the dealer I bought the car from. I was in and out in 45 minutes without an appointment... WOW! What a GREAT PLACE with EXCELLENT customer service. My H3 needed some brake service after a few days of cautious driving with brakes grinding on rotors. I had to wait a few days as my other car was also being serviced. I called to make a reservation and Mark was very accomodating on the phone and had scheduled an early afternoon service. I got to the shop and explained the situation and was told that I'd get a call with info from him an hour or so afterwards. I was about to leave the lot when i saw mark crouching on the ground trying to eyeball the brakes and rotors of my truck. I went back and chatted with him for a little bit and promised me that he was going to take care of the truck and if possible save the rotors. I was promised end of day completion of the service. Got a call from him with diagnosis and he was forthright and honest about the condition of the brakes. Gave me a few options all of which was to save me $. I told Mark to replace all the pads anyway and that the 1 rotor that was unsalvageable as well. He executed and delivered my truck before EOD all for ~$450. It's amazing. After a frustrating experience at another brake shop, I called Mr. Brake looking for a second opinion and another quote. Mark was extremely pleasant on the phone, gave me a rough estimate, but honestly told me they would need to see the car first to determine what -- if anything -- actually needed to be done. They got me in the very next day, and within about 7 minutes, the technician confirmed that I did NOT need brakes or the other repairs another brake specialist had recommended. They inspected everything thoroughly and explained that my brakes were still in great condition and my car looked good overall. What impressed me most was the honesty. There was no pressure, no upselling, and no attempt to take advantage of someone who may not know a lot about cars. They didn't even charge me for the inspection. I did tip the technician because I truly appreciated the professionalism and transparency. When I eventually do need brakes or repairs, I will absolutely be returning to Mr. Brake. I would like to thank Mark for his Integrity, as I brought him my Jaguar that had a "Traction Control Fail" message with a ABS warning light (Anti Lock Brake System). I also had a Transmission Oil leak and although Mark and his team do not do that kind of repair I needed, they did look for it and tell me where is was coming from. Also, the Jaguar I have is not compatible with the standard error code reading machines everyone has, so I would have to take my car to the dealer to get the error code message Diagnosed. The Guys checked my braking system visually and checked the brake pads and determined there was nothing they could help me with and did not CHARGE for the time they took with my car. I have a Ford Ranger they fixed brakes on and fixed a brake fluid leak for a very reasonable price and I would not take my vehicles anywhere else for brakes.. So the last couple of days, I heard that grinding noise on my right rear wheel that says "RED ALERT! Buy new pads or buy new rotor TOO!" So, of course, I went to Yelp to see who people liked. I'll admit, Mr. Brake sounded too good to be true. You know what? HE's EVERYTHING the positive reviews say he is. Honest, fast, and fairly priced. My Hyundai rear brakes including rotor resurfacing was $190. And I was done in under an hour! IMPORTANT! Mr. Brake is by appointment only. Don't lose sleep trying to get there when they open. They likely already have appointments ahead of you. Instead, call and speak to the wonderfully helpful owner and set up your appointment. Unlike my doctor's office, you WILL be seen at the time of your appointment. I used my GPS to ensure I was on time. Anyway, trying to keep an old car on the road means sooner or later, you'll need brakes. Mr. Brake has it covered. read more

I have read good review on yelp here. So I gave it a try. All these people giving a 5 star. I guess all these people are not being honest. Plz don't just rate 5 star if you don't know whats happening behind your back. Some of us new people depend on a good and honest service shop. And this Mr. Brake shop is not honest at all. Take your service somewhere else if you want to SAVE money. This shop will charge you arm and leg for brake service. Mark(owner) is a snake and some of his workers are the same. If you want to pay high price for brake replacement this is it. If you want to Save money get honest service, look somewhere else. I would not recommend anyone to go to this place. You can get 4brake pads+4 rotors for 200bucks brand new. Search the net. And find a mom & pop shop to install it for 40-80bucks. read more

Like many others have said, Mark is very knowledgeable and absolutely professional in dealing with customers. I have traditionally used the Toyota dealership for my service needs but have found the dealership to be untrustworthy in recent years; usually trying to repair what does not need repairing. Mark showed me the issues that needed repair and was VERY honest in his appraisal...you can trust him :-) In addition, he showed me additional problems (wheel bearings) and even suggested an honest repair service who could perform excellent repair at a reasonable price. I brought my Ford truck in and I had a brake fluid leak and needed front brakes. Mark changed the brake pads and told me they could not find where it was leaking. I took the truck back and two weeks later noticed the brake fluid level was lower. I took it back to Mr. Brake when I was able to confirm there was a slow leak somewhere. This time they were able to locate it and fix it and they did not charge me for the repair as they did not find it the first time. I went here based off of a friend's recommendation and boy I wish I wouldn't have. They were really rude and they didn't sound confident in what they were doing to my car. I got a whole bunch of "well, sometimes it could be this.....or sometimes it could be that. We should replace both just to make sure". Who has money to do that? I left and went to another place and they identified my car's problem right away and told me that the brakes were bad and my shoes did not to be replaced. My breaks were making a really loud noise so i knew it was time for them to be changed. I found Mr Brake on yelp and gave them a call because of their great reviews. I don't remember the gentlemen's name who i spoke to, but he was very kind and told me i didn't need to schedule an appt... i could just walk in. Mark checked out my breaks and told me they needed to be changed. It took about 2 hours to change the breaks...is that normal ? I thought it was a bit too long.
