Veggie egg roll with a surprise - SHRIMP‼
    C A.

I ordered only vegetables, avoiding meat and shrimp due to allergies and clear instructions. Despite this, I found shrimp in my egg roll. The restaurant asked me to call back in five minutes, then told me to wait until Monday. I won't return to such a disrespectful place that neglects customer care.

    93. Jumbo Shrimp Egg Foo Young Lunch Special

Visited this place during lunch for the 1st time in some years. I'll start with the good parts: quick service. Yep, that's it! That's my The guy that took my order ended a phone call and just started at me. No greeting, just and eventual "yeah?" I stated what I'd like and he responded, "that's it?". Now for the food : This place only gives 1 egg foo yung patty, most places 2 in the lunch specials. It was a bit burnt and overcooked. The egg roll(not shown) was mostly shell, no filling -I fed it to the seagulls. The so called fried rice was flavorless and lacking. 4 specks of green onion, no bean sprouts, I don't think it touched any oil or a wok. The interior was shabby. Besides the person and the cook, 3 workers sat on their phones. This is a kitchen that I won't bother to see again.

I am disappointed and out of $40 for an undercooked and under-flavored order with below average customer service. I ordered a large veggie rice, large shrimp fried rice and 6 chicken wings. I expected freshly cut vegetables (stalks of broccoli, cut tri color bell peppers and fresh cut onions). Instead they gave me fried rice with small cut carrots. I also expected the rice to be flavorful. Instead the rice was bland. The bite sized salad shrimp were deveined. I expected the chicken wings to be cooked to the proper temperature. Instead when I broke the wings apart, there was still blood at the joints. After recooking them in my air fryer for an extra 12 minutes, I didn't desire them anymore. This See thru kitchen location will not get my business in the future.

    Pepper streaks( where's they steak!

So dissatisfied with the food . My mothers shrimpresario was totally burnt. My pepper steak was three pieces of steak and peppers and on are to big to cover up they didn't give me enough streak! Last time for food ! The boba tea I must say it good! pictures below f I didn't have to get my handicapped mother dress and back in the car I would send it back!

We went to grab a quick bite at the See Thru in my new neighborhood. I used to go to the one on Cottage Grove. I paid and have a practice of checking my receipt to see if I was charged the correct tax. Sure enough, the tax was way higher than it should have been.(10.25%) I told the gentleman at the register and calculated the tax again in front of him. He kept saying he didn't know what the tax should be and to talk to the boss. I just wanted him to refund the difference. He cops an attitude so I leave. I have been noticing the last few years that fast food joints and some sit down places constantly charge too much tax. Some areas in Chicago can charge extra, not Beverly though. The rate is 10.25% ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS. These places are getting over. On top of all this, the food was just okay.

Disappointed and disgusting! The EFY was greasy, shrimp chop Suey was okay but the shrimp fried rice was burnt with tiny shrimps. Forgot, the egg roll was little with no meat in the middle. Pass....

My shrimp fried rice with a bonus.

Prices are too high for the product. I've been going here for over 20 years and it's not the same.

Tucked into a no-frills corner on the South Side, Dai Yee's looks modest from the outside, but step in after 10 p.m. and it's pure magic. The room is packed with everybody--sneakerheads, nurses coming off shift, club kids, cops, and couples on first dates who somehow heard the legend. The vibe is chaotic in the best way: woks roaring, orders flying, and that unmistakable perfume of sizzling garlic, ginger, and chili filling the air. The food is straight-up stupid good. The Hong Kong-style salt & pepper smelts are crackly, spicy, and gone in 30 seconds. The beef chow fun has that elusive wok hei (breath of the wok) that most places only dream of, wide rice noodles slick with smoky char and tender flank steak. The black pepper beef tenderloin is velvet-soft, glossy, and aggressively peppery in a way that makes you order extra rice just to survive the happiness. The Singapore noodles are bright curry perfection, and the Mongolian beef is saucy, crispy-edged, and borderline addictive. Portions are straight out of the 90s--massive trays that could feed a family of four for under $15. Cash-only, BYOB, and everything comes out blazing hot in under ten minutes even when the place is slammed. The ladies running the show are legends: fast, funny, and they'll roast you (lovingly) if you can't handle the spice level you asked for. If you leave Chicago without hitting Dai Yee's at least once (preferably at 1 a.m. with a six-pack), you didn't really experience the city. This is real-deal, no-filter, soul-satisfying Chinese food that reminds you why we fall in love with restaurants in the first place. Dai Yee's isn't just a restaurant; it's a Chicago institution in the making. I'd wait in line in a blizzard for those smelts. See you at midnight.

We had starters - fried calamari and a spring roll sort of thing. We also had eggplant, another stir fry and walnut shrimp. All of it was fresh and delicious. My one recommendation would be to pay close attention to the menu. I didn't realize that the shrimp in the walnut shrimp was battered and fried - would have picked something else if I had. To be clear- it was delicious! It's just that I had already had two fried appetizers so would preferred something lighter. The eggplant dish was my favorite! And the special cocktails were also delightful. The restaurant is very busy and a little noisy at times, but it didn't detract from our experience.

It's crazy it's completely died down by the time we were finished with our meal. The service was great, the interior decor was beautiful and the staff was friendly. The dim sum offered for brunch was good as well but pricey. Especially since some dishes were only offered with two pieces. If you have a party of three then you're kind of forced into buying two of the same dishes. Which is strange. Traditionally most dim sum dishes have three pieces. Rarely see 2 pieces being offered especially for double the price. We ordered their Jiaozi, Char Sui Bao, crab Rangoon, chilly chilli noodles, and their Xiang long Bao. All were great. The chilly chilli noodles is served cold and was very flavorful. The Xiang Kong Bao was amazing. The potstickers was probably my favorite dish and it's mess up char Sui Bao. We were going to order wings but they had ran out I guess by 12pm on a Sunday. I was also going to order fried rice but it wasn't offered for brunch. Overall despite the priciness of the menu, we still enjoyed our food and the service. I obviously knew what I was getting myself into by visiting this place, and can definitely see myself returning in the future.
