This is another one of my YELP Bucket List places. 2 down 348 to go. We were heading to Captain Cook and then Volcano Village. On the way to a place to eat that after arrival, didn't look as good as we had hoped but I did notice a sign for Lau Lau. After pulling in and getting out of the car, the smell of home hits you. The whole place, inside and out isn't touristy at all but dang do they know where good food is. There are benches to sit on outside but not really outside seating. Although for this food I would eat next to the road with traffic driving by. I wouldn't care as long as the food was available. There are 2 big live edg tables inside. You have to sit like family. We met a couple from Utah. My Wife had the pork and cabbage. I chose the Lau Lau with 2 sides of Mac salad. The Auntie that brought out our food was exactly like my Auntie, just smaller. She was sweet to let me know about my food. She asked if I had it before. I said yes and she welcomed me back. Everything was amazing. I may have had a tear in my eye when I smelled my food. I immediately thought of my Grandma White. She was a great cook. We are already planning on coming back. The bill was 35.00. I bought a Poke plate a couple days ago that was 50 bucks so this was a great deal. We tipped $15.00 on 35. They tried to say it was too much and take some drinks to go. We said no, it was worth it.

As a vegetarian, I asked the waiter what I could order and they said they could make pad Thai, Singapore noodles, garlic noodles, vegetarian. We ordered the green beans, appetizer and the Singapore noodles vegetarian both were excellent!! The Singapore noodles are a bean thread noodle with egg and tofu and bell peppers and tiny limes. I think were calamansi-- just delicious!! The green beans came with crispy, garlic, and spicy Fresno peppers on top and we're cooked to a chard perfection. Would definitely return. You can park in the Safeway/canner row parking lot and walk over.

Food- my cousin told me that Star Noodle had changed, that it's only dim sum for lunch, that the dim sum is super expensive and not very good. I have always had delicious meals here and thought I'd stick with dinner. Turns out, it didn't matter. Dinner might as well be dim sum too. Food came out way too fast. I actually timed the table in front of us, from the time the waitress left the table to the first few dishes coming to the table, just over 3 minutes! There were some dishes I enjoyed (miso butterfish and pohole salad), but two former favorites were huge disappointments (bao buns and the garlic noodles), two dishes I didn't care for (shrimp tempura and adobo ribs), and one that was just meh (string beans). The table to our right didn't take any of their leftovers and they had quite a bit too. Was very disappointed overall. My aunt enjoyed her meal, but I felt bad she didn't experience the Star Noodle from before... normally our first and last meal in Maui, but I cancelled our second dinner for next week! The new location (just next door) was nice, but it didn't make up for their mediocre food.

We absolutely love this place!…read more We come to Kona every year, and we make sure to visit this place at least once! First, the service is ALWAYS great! The hostess and servers are always friendly. Our experience with our servers has been amazing. They were always friendly, efficient, and attentive. This time was no exception! We got the mixed-platter (you get to choose two entrees), and we chose the Korean chicken and short ribs. We chose the artificial crab salad for the side. It came with two scoops of rice, and Furikake sprinkled on top. The short ribs were tender, seasoned, and cooked perfectly (you get 4 pieces). The Korean chicken had a crunchy outside, and the inside was tender. They were absolutely great!!! We also ordered fries, which were well seasoned, but sadly they weren't fresh (hence the 4 stars). They weren't hot, and they were a bit wilted (but we still ate them. LOL). For dessert, we got the Brookie with vanilla ice cream and Chantilly cream. Wow, it was the perfect way to end lunch! There was plenty of seating, but it does get busy. Big tables can accommodate larger parties. 100% recommend!

We were able to get a table on the patio overlooking the resort, which offered a great view. We chose the breakfast buffet, and there were plenty of options for everyone. The made‑to‑order omelets were excellent--we ordered ours with everything (veggies and meat), and it was perfect. The avocado toast bar was another highlight, and the selection of fresh fruit was impressive. A couple of notes: alcohol isn't served until after 8 a.m., and if you sit on the outdoor patio, be prepared for very active birds--they're constantly swooping around. The view is beautiful, though, so it's still worth it.

Humble Market Kitchen feels like a restaurant that knows it has a captive audience and has stopped trying very hard. The food was uninspired, generic, and significantly overpriced for what was delivered. Nothing was particularly bad, but almost nothing was memorable either. Breakfast was especially underwhelming. Skip the buffet. The eggs were watery and soupy, and the "Hawaiian sausage" turned out to be little more than sliced hot dogs. For a resort of this caliber in a destination known for incredible food, it felt surprisingly low effort. Service was probably the strongest part of the experience, but even that was average at best. I'd call it a 6 out of 10. Friendly enough, but not the level of hospitality you'd expect given the prices and setting. The disconnect is especially noticeable because the Wailea Beach Resort itself is fantastic. We genuinely loved our stay and would absolutely return to the property. That's what makes the restaurant so disappointing. It feels like a business operating inside a great resort rather than an extension of the resort experience. If you're staying at the Wailea Beach Resort, do yourself a favor and explore the many excellent dining options around Wailea instead. Maui has too many great restaurants to spend your vacation settling for this one.
