This is my favorite pizza place. Great staff and great food. The pizza is made in a wood burning pizza oven that you can see. The sauce is sweet and simple. Great place to come with kids. They only accept cash but have an ATM inside so you can get money with that. read more

I don't ever write reviews on here but I was so upset after we left here I just had to. We are locals in Lewes and have been here many times. We love the food and it's a great local spot. However recently we had a bad experience that ruined it for us. We walked in with a baby on a busy night. Now I understand it's busy and we would have to wait for a seat. We were going to order take out but wanted to sit down and have an appetizer and beer while we waited for it. We told the guy and girl at the front and they said "yeah... but you have a baby". Oddly enough, we are aware we have a baby. As we turned around the young waitress gave us a rude smirk like why are we here with a baby. Needless to say we were treated very rudely by high school kids working because we had a baby. We emailed the owner but never heard back. Unfortunately we will probably not be back. This place got 2 stars because the food is good but they really need to train their staff better. read more

Good meal! When eating out with my family, it is hard to get a good all around meal. We have a food critic that has high expectations, a vegan and a gluten free eater all in the same party. Not to mention, I am from NY and spent a lot of time in Chicago, and consider myself a pizza snob. Everyone was very impressed. The dough is very unique. Similar to NY style but is also thicker and doughy, but has great texture. Decent sauce and toppings made for a good pie! My wife who is gluten free had the gluten free pizza and was also impressed. Gluten free pizza is generally an after thought a most who try it don't execute it very well. I even tried it and thought it was very good! All around good meal. I have found that most of the great food in Rehoboth Beach is closer to Lewes and the less commercialized popular tourist areas. A must try! read more

Mr. P's is trying to be a local restaurant in a tourist town and is stuck in the middle of being both. They're located on a rural road in a crusty strip mall (poorly paved, little parking, aged facings). They have a small local feel on the inside with local tees and pictures of locals. Everything the tourists want to see when they visit a small town. Where the restaurant isn't local is the tourist prices. They don't accept credit card "to keep overhead down" but they have an ATM at the door that they'll charge you to use. If no credit cards are supposed to keep prices low the prices would be more down to Earth, but as it is you're going to pay more than other local pizza places. Considering the usage of credit in the world today, it has to be costing them more not to take your card. I get paid by direct deposit and rarely get to my bank. I usually skip places like this. So for the high price you think maybe you'll get great ingredients. Sadly no. I got the pepperoni rolls and it was like biting into frozen ice crystals. Warm enough on the outside but still frozen on the inside. I wasn't upset that someone didn't cook them long enough. It's more disappointing that a little local pizza shop won't freshly make their own pizza rolls. The pizza is genuinely wood oven baked which makes the pizza taste better than it would otherwise. They have a huge selection of artisan pizza styles. But the toughness of the crust is a telling sign that the dough isn't fresh. The cheese is clumpy but not too greasy. It's not overly bad, but it could be so much better. If you have a fixing for pizza and don't mind paying a bit more rather than driving down the road, you could go here. It's more like watching an episode of Kitchen Nightmares right before Gordon Ramsey has shown up where the restaurant has given up and started using cheap products just to get by. read more

We stopped at Mr. P's on our way back from the fishing pier. Kind of late. Everybody was tired and starving. What a surprise to have such delicious pizza! The sauce is really, really tasty. I agree with Chicago girl above that the crust is on the doughy side. I prefer crispy. Craft beer on tap cant be beat. Service very good. Owner/manager(?) kind and helpful. Very casual. Beach attire is A-ok. We will be stopping here after our future fishing pier and Cape Henlopen park trips. Oh yeah...cash only!! read more

While the food is good, the service is below average. The wait staff barely pays attention to you. You have to almost jump out and tackle them to get you a refill or another drink. I have been there several times and the service never changes. Sometimes I wonder why I continue to go. read more

Pizza tasted great but overall experience was negative. Chose to dine in and instantly we were turned off by a server telling us to sit on the bench and wait patiently for a table. There were several 6 tops available but we were a party of 4 - guess they didn't want us occupying those tables? After a suitable table became available we sat down and asked our server if she could do something about the temperature in the dining room (it was frigid!) and she said she could not. Her words exactly "I'm kind of the boss, but every time I do something I think is going to be okay, it's not" The beer list was nice, but grossly overpriced! When we asked for a box to take our leftovers home, we were given a small box for our slices, but our friends were given only a piece of foil (one slice did not warrant a take home box?). Also annoying was the fact that this is a CASH only establishment...seriously? In this day and age who carries cash to a restaurant? Very doubtful that anyone in our party will return. read more

The pizza is okay. Not worth the price. The problem is the pizza in the Rehoboth/Lewes area is mediocre at best, so this place gets my business once in awhile. My pizza habit has been cut back drastically since moving to the area a few years back due to the poor choices, so I guess I should be grateful for the pounds lost as a result. read more

Have tried several pizza places in the area but this is hands down the best around. Surprised to see any bad reviews but I guess you can't please everybody. The big chain with the billboards everywhere doesn't even come close. Will be back to Mr. P's next time I'm in Lewes. read more

Ordered an Xlarge pie from here over Memorial Day weekend (Monday). It was the 3rd place we tried. 2 other places were closed on Monday of Memorial Day weekend which was odd. Got half pepperoni. Crust and sauce definitely taste homemade and dough was pretty soft. Still not my favorite at the beach but not a bad pie. read more

The pizza is fantastic!! It is by far the best in Sussex County. Super friendly folks that work there are the cherry on top. The best part is that they have 19 craft beers on draft including a nitro line and a cask!! Most of the beers are local which is great. The pizza is wood fired so expect to wait. read more

If you're a NY transplant and are dying for some good pizza then this is an o.k. substitute for what you're missing. The downside is the absolutely enormous crust. Also if you order pizza for takeout and they tell you 20 minutes...Be there in 20 minutes. I arrived after 30 minutes instead of the 20, expecting my pizza to be on top of the oven to stay warm. False- It was placed on the side and was completely cold by the time I got home. read more

My family and I decided to try a new pizza place on our first night of vacation this year since we've become tired of Grotto Pizza. It was a bit of a drive from where we stayed in Bethany Beach, but worth it. We had fried zucchini to start. While I like the traditional breading more than the beer battered, it was tasty. I ordered a bowl of wedding soup which was delicious. My husband got the carnivore's dream pizza which he loved and had plenty of leftovers to take home. My parents and I split a margherita pizza. It was good but was lacking in basil. We got the extra large and even with 3 people we still took home 2 slices. The value and quality was good, in my opinion. The servjce was fine. It was a bit chilly in there and they don't have control over the AC so you may want to bring a sweater. We like to try new places, so I can't say for certain we'll be back, but I would not be opposed to returning. read more

The 1st time we tried this place, it was great. Good food and friendly people. Went back today and the service was awful. We got there around 2 pm and there was only 1 server. We waited 10 mins for her to take our order (4 slices of cheese pizza and 1 order of fries). She brought the fries and that's all. Several people came in after us, and received complete orders (mostly pizza). Apparently, it makes a difference if you sit at the counter because those customers didn't wait longer than a minute. Too bad the guy working the counter couldn't have walked a little further to table customers. Oh well. It was almost 3 when she came over to ask "if anything was wrong". Seriously, that's what she said. We asked where the pizza was. She went to check the order tickets and came back to say all they had left was 1 slice of cheese and 2 slices of pepperoni and then made things worse by adding, "We give people time to finish their appetizers." SO, we can assume if you order fries they will wait so long that they cannot complete the order. Makes sense. There was no offer to do anything except not charge us for the fries. Not even an apology for such an obvious screw-up. As we left, my husband said to me, "Never again." He's right. read more

I had heard great things about Mister P's Pizza so I went in to try for myself. I had a pleasant experience. I ordered a Margherita Pizza to go (but kept the lid to the box open on the way home in an attempt to keep the crust crispy.) It was a very good pizza. The cheese had good flavor and set up nicely in the oven. The sauce was simple and had a great fresh tomato taste. And the fresh basil on top was excellent. The crust is the only place that I wasn't 100% satisfied. The texture was great: lightly crispy yet very airy, thin yet a large cornicione (crust). The flavor of the crust, however, was where something went wrong. It tasted like a saltine cracker. This bland flavor was not really evident until you got to the cornicione and were eating that without any toppings. I didn't eat any of the crust after the first slice (still enjoyed the rest of the pizza, though!) The owner is supposedly a certified Verace Pizza Napoletana. This basically means that the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and some other trade organizations have certified this guy to make true Neapolitan-style pizza. Now I've never had pizza from Naples and I don't plan on telling people that I have just because I have eaten at Mister P's. Another thing, the wood-fired brick oven. While the smell of the wood is present in the restaurant, there is not any wood "flavor" in the pizza (I think this is a common mis-perception.) The real advantage of a brick pizza oven, whether it be fueled by wood, gas, or something else, is the high temperature that you cannot usually attain from a standard gas or electric deck oven. On this note, I do not think that my pizza was cooked on a high enough temperature. There were no charred blisters on the top of the pizza, a signature of Neapolitan Pizza. But I will give Mister P's the benefit of the doubt because I came in at about 3 pm and the oven probably wasn't at normal operating temperature. The establishment itself was simple and looked like a nice place for a family dinner. The staff was friendly. Overall, it was very good pizza and I will definitely return! read more
