Yelp.. You let me down on this one. To start... Seating - it's seat yourself and very limited seating at that. We were lucky enough to get a free table but 10 min after there were people basically hovering over us and annoyingly starring at us while we were eating to see how far along we were. I'm serious... People were literally walking around the tables in the Restaurant to scope out what tables were going to be freed up and then just hovered around them. When we were done, a group of 6 swooped in before we were 10 feet from the table. The waitress didn't even collect her tip yet or clear the table. This place desperately need a host/hostess. Next - the food. Pizza - great crust.. Terrible marinara. Great cheese and toppings. The sauce tasted very similar to what you get out of a jar of Ragu. The waitress said the white "sauceless" pizza was very popular. Now I understand why. Meatball appetizer - these are basically wood oven baked balls of unseasoned ground beef. They were so dried out and flavorless that I was only able to stomach one bite. Plus they were served in the same tasteless sauce which made them worse. No flavor at all. Service - can't say much about this as they are only as fast as the brick oven. I understand that there is limited space in a brick oven so I can't blame them for the slow service. Last.. Place is cash only. I can only think of 3 reasons that a restaurant doesn't accept credit. 1. To evade taxes 2. Bad credit. 3. Cheapskate. Ordered Lg with meatballs and mushrooms. First time It came out the center was just cool. Sent it back for more heat center a little warmer. Sent back 3rd time and this time better but the bottom was not crisp more on the soggy side. Very bready near the crust area, in fact there were no topping 2 inches from the crust. Tasty topping but not my kind of pizza. For a wood fired pizza I would expect more. read more

The pizza here is good. Get it to go, but be forewarned that the oven space is limited and must not be that hot because they get backed up and behind a-lot. It is not reliable. Sometimes they flat out don't take any more orders and they have stopped answering the phone at times. Its just ok inside, although I do like the teeny bar. Avoid the other food. read more

Great food, great service, and great scenery. I loved how politely all of the waiters were. I loved the food and when I finished I wanted more. It was funny when I saw that under the cheese, pepper, salt, etc . There was a frisbee under them. Even though it seemed that they couldn't afford other things I still got a laugh . read more

Seriously. Good. Pizza. We used a Groupon to try this pizza joint for the first time. We will be back. It was so good! The crust was my favorite part. My 2 year old loved the capers and olives but she devoured her whole (huge) slice. Prices were very reasonable and portions were massive. Cash only but they have an ATM on site. We stopped going to Mr. P's about 4 years ago. Started eating there when they opened about 20 years ago and absolutely loved it, but stopped about 4 years ago. The pizza was usually overcooked, bland and their pasta sauce tasted like tomato paste. We started going to Pat's, but lately the quality isn't nearly what it was, especially the chicken parm. We could tell they were using frozen breaded chicken cutlets and practically no cheese. Today, we decided to give Mr. P's another try. OMG - what a surprised. Pizza - Excellent. Chicke Parm - Fantastic and the chicken was fresh, lots of cheese and the sauce great. Goodbye Pat's. We'll be regulars - just wish they delivered but worth the 10 min. drive. Very long wait-- 45 mins for 2 pizzas but very good. Had the special white pizza with spinach, garlic and bacon with fresh (and RIPE and good) tomatoes. Margerita pizza had good fresh basil. They need a bigger oven. Kids were getting hungry and cranky but everyone loved their pizza when it finally came. Bring a snack but worth the wait. read more

Last night we had a medium sausage pizza that I ordered 2 hours in advance when I arrived to pick up had to wait in my car for 10 min. The margarita pizza was worth the wait. This pizza place is a town favorite and the pizza is as good as any in NY.

Recently relocated to the area. Have been making the "rounds" on the local pizza haunts. After giving all a fair share of business...Mr. P's has consistently provided the best service, food and price, while supporting other local businesses. What a lovely night. This was our first time visiting Mr. Ps. We are a large family (four kids plus a nanny and two parents) and called ahead. A large table was set and waiting for us. We're beer lovers and the selection was outstanding. What was more impressive was that our server knew every beer on the menu and picked something that was perfect for me (not an IPA lover). Zucchini appetizer was terrific but was eclipsed by the pizza which was really, really delicious. We enjoyed: Funghi (mushroom), bacon lovers, sausage, and pepperoni. All was wonderful and the crust had a wonderful quality that you only get from a brick oven. My kids loved it! The funnel fries are a totally unique dessert that everyone loved. What made our night was the kind service from the owners who took us under their wing (we're just visiting for the week) and were astoundingly nice to our children. This is a family business (we ever meet their teenage daughter who was helping out washing dishes!) and this showed throughout the night. We'll be back at Mr. P's the next time we're in Lewes! read more

I'm kicking myself for never coming into Mr. P's before today. I ordered 2 slices of pepperoni pizza for $5.50 and the slices were enormous! They have wood fired stoves which definitely adds a different but DELICIOUS flavor to the pizza. Plenty of pepperoni without over doing it. The crust was soft yet crunchy! I didn't have a beer but there are about 30 different brews in house. Plenty of local breweries available and wide variety of tastes. read more

Good value pizza.. Got 2 slices and a drink for $5 at lunch. You can't find that downtown in Lewes! Nice, thin, chewy crust - you can fold the slice in half and eat it properly. But didn't seem to show any of the benefits of the wood-fired oven.. the bottom of the crust was pale, whereas I would have expected dark marks. Still I would def order again for a solid, unfussy meal. I believe they only take cash, so come prepared. read more

Take out: wood fired pizza has a great crispiness to it, but the trip home sogs it out. Not their doing, nature of the style. Toppings: cheese is awesome, mellow but a real nice flavor. Shrooms were fresh. Pepperonis was spicy but not salty or greasy. Sauce: pleasantly sweet. Strong tomato taste, addictive. Crust: tasty chewy floppy like a good NYC pizza. 3 hour wait for a take out pizza. You need to have your head examined if you think that people will wait 3hours for a large pizza!!! Your pizza is not that good!!!! Love their pizza and service ( amber) always friendly and helpful. Pizza is so fresh! My favorites are the margarita and cheese with fresh green pepper! Nice choice of beers as well. Only negative for me, can't get a pizza coming off beach, their usually very crowded and can't fill phone orders. read more

This is the best Pizza in town unfortunately they have issues with space and you must call at hours ahead to get a pizza. They stop answering the phone when busy and tell you to come in and order, then they make you wait. They have RUINED several dinners for us, even in winter. You would think they would at least find a way to serve loyal locals. A real shame. read more

Great sauce and cheese and the crust is incredibly light. However I suppose the wood fired pizza is an acquired taste. The slightly burnt crust flavor overwhelmed the sauce and the cheese. However they have perfected the French fry .... hand cut and done to perfection! Cool atmosphere! IF I return I'll definitely get toppings like bacon or sausage. One more thing Pepsi products:(. Let me start off by saying-I am from Chicago and I know good pizza. This pizza was the most disguisting pizza I have ever had. My Aunt and I were here visitng for a night. We were kinda tired so we decided to just stay in and order a pizza. Disguisting! The crust tasted like bread and was gooey and the pizza had no flavor other than grease. Used to love this place and made a point of going there every year while in town. Unfortunately its gone way downhill, especially in terms of customer service. They won't answer their phone now for orders when they're backed up. When I went in person to order, they wanted to know why I didn't call it in. Told them because they didn't pick up the phone - which they then said, "well we don't answer if we have more than a 45 minute wait." Wow..... One hour and 15 minutes to bake a pizza? I was so stinking angry as I saw tables that were sat after my family get their orders, eat, pay and leave. Just such a let down after our friends recommended it. I will say that the pizza cooked in the wood fired oven was tasty and for craft beer lovers there are many to choose from. The last really disappointing thing about the place was the lack of organized service. Our waitress didn't seem to care about us and finally another waitress took over our table.
