This was my second time coming here and it did not disappoint! The first time, a lot of menu items were crossed out. We weren't able to order the mushroom guk bap or Mr Tang soup. This time around, we were told Mr Tang was sold out so I was really disappointed. We settled for the beef & cabbage soup which is honestly not my favorite. I'm not a fan of ox blood but if you are, you should get it. I really liked the mushroom soup however. The main course that we came for was the spicy galbi jjim with cheese. It's a really cool experience because they use a blow torch to melt the cheese. The first time I came we got it without cheese which was just as good. It is a little on the spicer side so the cheese definitely helped. I definitely want to come back to try the Mr Tang soup! read more

Right off the bet, as soon as we walked in, the owner/front desk lady didn't even acknowledge our presence. It wasn't crowed as it was close to 10pm. She was looking at some paperwork etc. Waited for about 3 minutes, then finally I asked her if we could have a table. There was two other tables that were occupied. She then led us to a table in the corner that was clearly too small and cramped for our body sizes. We Set down and asked for the customary warm barley tea. She replied so very coldly and unkindly that they did not have hot water to make tea. Wow. No eye contact, cold as ice. Extremely rude and disrespectful. Doubtful this place will thrive. Should reconsider being in restaurant business. As for the food, if you are allergic or don't eat MSG for health reasons, then do not come here. I am allergic to msg and ordered the cartilage soup. I always ask when at an Asian restaurant if they use MSG. When I asked the lady, she said, we do not use msg. Well, I broke out in hives around my eyes and my throat felt constricted. We were not disappointed with the broth although we did add the green onions and some of the banchan to add some complexity to the flavor. The meat in both of our dishes melted in our mouths. Portion sizes were on point (just enough for my husband and a little much for me but I'm petite). The service was just right. Look as a California native who recently moved to Denver, Mr. Tang is a GOD SEND for Korean soup lovers in the area. Legitimately the Seol Lung Tang is as good or even BETTER than some places I've had in LA, at least in terms of broth. I would say the quantity of meat they give you is a bit lacking compared to some places I've had back in California but Mr. Tang does a great job in trying to give Koreans and newcomers to Korean food a great taste of Korean soups and broths. Pretty Decent Place with delicious meal. Unlike most korean restaurants, they offer only one side dish but taste pretty good. Also had their spicy Galbijjim before, felt little overpriced. Worst experience ever and bad memory in Denver. I like soup a lot and have all soup till seeing the bottom of a bowl. Ordered Sundae soup and enjoyed until the last spoon - not sure what it was but like several small stones. Told a server but the server said "it was first person who said about it" "why are you saying this at the end after having all" "sundae is not made in our restaurant but sundae is delivered from another company" I was unable to talk so asked a manager or owner but there was no manager or owner. Just kept asked to talk to the server. Since there was no further communication possible, I tried quietly to leave but the server's action was not right. So I did not put any tip. But the server said that she relied on tip and it was unfair. Regardless of her wrong action, I put tip without letting her know. After my other family members including my little child came out, however, they told me that the server told them that I should not have to treat her like it because we were a traveler. Even the server told to my young child that I was rude. I was so angry so I went and told in loud voice that she was in wrong action. Next day I left a letter to the owner and a person called and said in asking what I wanted. There was no apology until i asked. Even with very light apology, the person told that I did wrong as well because of the loud voice accusing the server. I never want to go to Denver because of this experience. Went yesterday by myself to warm up with soup during a snowstorm. Had the beef cheek soup which was served with kimchi and pickled jalapenos. Loved every ounce of it - the beef cheek was really tender and the kimchi was super spicy and clearly homemade. Service is fast and kind. Decor is minimal. I am Korean-American. I moved to Denver from Southern California, an area with some of the best Korean food in the US, and I've been struggling to find good Korean food ever since. This place hit the spot. While they might not offer as many banchan (side dishes) as somewhere like Seoul BBQ, their main dishes are on point. The naengmyeon (cold noodles in beef broth) has chewy noodles, fresh crisp vegetables, and a rich, flavorful broth. Perfect for the summer heat. The kalbi jjim (braised beef shortrib) was perfect. It's pricy at $75, but it's big and meant to feed 2-3 people, with beef that's tender and vegetables and potatoes that were cooked just right. Hearty and delicious. On another occasion, I had the samgye tang (ginseng chicken stew) and seol leong tang (ox bone soup), and they were just perfect as well. Wonderful for cold winter days. Eating here makes me feel like I'm back in Seoul or LA or eating my grandma's cooking.
