I am going to stick with my original review, but correct the typo's. I have tried to like this place, as so many of my friends love to patronize this business and swear its the greatest. I will still tell you please never patronise this business. Its cram packed with drunk tourists and rude staff. The staff seem to hate locals, when they find out your local they do everything they can to *uck up your order or charge you for a pizza and hold on to it and serve 20 other people before they give you your order. Tonight I purchased a pie and sat patiently waiting for them to give me the pizza. Waited 30 minutes before enquiring about my order, dude smirked and still wouldn't give me my order. This place probably has the best cheesesteak in Key West. The pizza is solid too! The guys working we're very inviting and it only took about 4-5 minutes to get our food. As a south jersey native who now resides in Nola where cheesesteaks are practically non existent, finding this spot sent fireworks through my soul. First meal I ate in key west was Mr Z's and the last before flying home. Philly memorabilia all over the walls. Workers were giving very northern vibes which I loved. Cheesesteaks and pizza were authentic offering both whiz and American cheese. If you order fries, order ONE! They're massive an entire family of four could feed off that plate. Wow, what an unexpected gem just off Duval. We had cheesteaks which were very good. We also ordered some fries which were good but we really didn't need because the sandwichs were quite large. And the amount of fries they give is truly ridiculous.......your could easily share an order with several other people. So, be forewarned if you order the fries there will be alot (they do tell you the order is large). The place is small with just a couple of tables on the sidewalk outside and a pretty tight ledge inside with some stools. It seemed like the majority of their business was locals doing takeout. They staff clearly knew most of the customers by name (and their order). And we were very impressed that they remembered my name and made sure to check on us a couple of times to see if we needed anything else (and always called my by name). Was partying in Duval street and needed some good late night grub to soak the alcohol. I found this place on Yelp. When I got there around 1am the line wasn't that long. I saw that their specialty was the Philly cheesesteak. I'm very selective about where I eat cheesesteaks from and the reviews were praising it so I decided to give it a go. The guy in the line in front of me told me to order the white cheddar and cheese fries so I took his recommendation. I didn't realize that they only take cash but luckily they have an ATM onsite. The place is tiny and with everyone waiting for their food made it really cramped while waiting. They sell draft beer too so I had a drink while I waited 15-20min for my food. I am not a patient person but something told me that this was worth the wait....and ohhhh yessssss it was!! Seriously the bessssttttt cheesesteak I've had in my entire life! But you don't have to be drunk to enjoy their pizza, it's a really good pizza. So, I always get slices of cheese pizza. Really thin dough is my favorite and this dough is perfect. The rest of the family love their pizza but they always get their hot sandwiches. I think we all love their Meatball Sandwich which has lots of cheese and yummy meatballs on a hoagie. Very fast depending on how many people are in there. We were able to get in and out which was great. Beware, people will try to squeeze in even though it is a VERY SMALL PLACE. While on vacay away from the Philly area my husband was craving something from home. We asked a local where we could get a cheesesteak? We were told to go to Mr.Z's. Wow! What an amazing food experience!! It was like being home. The staff was so nice and easy to talk to and engaged easily. We loved it. It is small but so are most true Philly food spots. They have been here in the keys since 2002, so that should tell ya how good they are. Even our cruise guy said he loved them. Try them, they also deliver to hotels. This was my husband and I's first trip to Key West. We stayed in the hotel right next-door to this restaurant and out of all the places that we ate Mr. Z's ended up being our number one go too late at night when we were hungry or didn't like something that we had eaten elsewhere. Not only was the location fantastic to our hotel. It literally is a tiny little corner of a hole in the wall but it was busy around the clock all the time it was one of the few places that was open after midnight, and it was packed everything from pizza to Philly cheesesteak sandwiches to sub sandwiches this place was top notch.
