My husband found an Eclipse posted for sale - which wasn't meant to be posted yet because of some mechanical issues, we found out later. But we went by and I test drove it, and I loved it. A few days later I brought in the Camry I had been driving (and hating, because...boring!) for a trade-in consideration. We were offered an amount $300 less than we expected to get selling it ourselves, so we jumped at it. The only thing was, a part was en route, so we had to wait until it was repaired. I mentioned the AC didn't seem to be putting out very much cold air, and when they replaced the catalytic converter, they fixed the AC. When the car was ready they took it to a mechanic of my choosing for a "pre-sale check" and fixed the primary things they found. My mechanic mentioned something about a transmission issue that will be a problem later on, so I didn't mention it. I knew I was not buying a new car (it's a 2007) and that something could go wrong the next day just because it's older. I was willing to take that chance. As of now I've only had the car 5 days! Hopefully I'll have it for 5 years! Joe and Felicia are awesome. Very fair, communicative, real, down-to-earth, genuine and friendly. No matter if it's from a dealership lot or a private party, ALWAYS get a pre-purchase inspection from an independent shop. It's worth the premium. That being said, I went to look at a 20 year old Miata. Joe and Felicia are great and honest people and aren't your usual snake oil salesman. Their place ain't fancy though but don't be fooled. They were willing to let me drive 30+ min from Livermore to Hayward to get a PPI. After that, I explained to them my concerns about the vehicle and they were willing to give me a reasonable price. I live far from the Bay and took a rental car down here and was going to drop it off at a kiosk a mile away, not knowing it closed due to COVID.
