Do not trust Hertz! After I purchase my vehicle I discovered undisclosed accident damage that was concealed by Hertz and not properly repaired. I ended up paying $5000 to have the body work redone and just paid another $3000 to replace the electric control system and batteries that were destroyed by water damage from the shoddy repair job. Unfortunately Hertz went through bankruptcy so I was unable to sue. You will never find Hertz accident damage on a carfax report because Hertz has everything fixed in-house or by a shop that doesn't report the claim. Beware the high cost of the low price. read more

The employee I dealt with was extremely subpar in terms of customer service, communication and basic decent behavior. WORST CAR PURCHASE - AND RETURN - EXPERIENCE. EVER. Went to Hertz Car Sales to purchase a 2019 GMC Terrain. Spent the first 4 hours going back and forth with Hertz Corporate trying to get a trade in offer price for my car. The Pleasanton office employees had no authority to negotiate trade ins, so they went back and forth with Hertz Corporate while I sat. Then they low balled my trade in offer, so I bought the car without trading in my car. I purchased the 2019 GMC Terrain, which advertised a thorough "115-point inspection" for all used cars on their lot. The next morning, I took the GMC Terrain to my mechanic to be inspected, just to get thumbs up or so I thought. He put it up on the lift and the entire underside of the car was rusting AND had a leaking transmission! Drove the car back to Hertz Car Sales in Pleasanton to return it. Again, I sat there for 4 hours while they went back and forth with Corporate about how to do the return and refund. I provided the address of my credit union to send the refund check (I was financing through my credit union). Proceeded to call every 4-5 days to try and get a status on my refund. Called Hertz Corporate myself and confirmed the address where they were to send the refund check. Three weeks later, I'm out of state on a pre-planned vacation, and Hertz Corporate tells me they mailed the check via Fed Ex. I spent the next TWO DAYS on my vacation trying to track down the check because my credit union said they didn't receive it. Turns out, the morons at Hertz Corporate went online and looked up my credit union for the mailing address instead of using the one I provided to them. They picked the first address on the list of credit union locations, which is only an ATM machine at the Santa Clara Valley Water District. Unbelievable! I contacted the Santa Clara Valley Water District and spoke to several different people trying to track down the check. Once I finally "found" the check, a very nice woman at the Water District got in her car and drove the check to the credit union for me since I was out of state. I sent her flowers. One star for refunding the car. Five stars for Santa Clara Valley Water District for locating the refund check and driving it over to the credit union for me. Found a similar car at Dublin Buick GMC when I returned from my vacation. I traded in my car for $1,400 more than Hertz Car Sales previously offered me. The used car I purchased from Dublin Buick GMC came with a 6 month bumper to bumper warranty as part of the sale. The negotiation and purchase went smoothly, and I got double thumbs up from my mechanic when he inspected it! read more

I helped my brother, who recently immigrated to the US, to buy a car from this location. The staff, especially John, went above and beyond to make sure we get the best deal. We had so many issues and difficulties due to the fact that my brother was a new immigrant without much of a credit history. They helped us through everything and tried to get us the best deal they possibly could. A month after we bought the car, we realized that one of the tires was losing air. We went back to them and they recommended a place for inspection to see if they can cover the costs for us. Our experience with the staff of Big O Tire in Danville was exceptionally good, but the Hertz staff didn't give us a hard time in terms of covering the cost. I'm not sure if I write the lady's name who helped us correctly, but I think her name is Elena. She deserves a promotion! Hertz and many other businesses need staff members like John and Elena. Scam company, and I see why they went bankrupt and are so desperate to get rid of cars. Except, not desperate enough apparently since they could not assist me after promising they could! Firstly, JAIME is a horrible salesman. He may come off as nice at first, and approachable, but in reality he literally knows nothing about the cars he's selling or recommending, and quite frankly I feel he just agrees with whatever you say for the hell of it. I came in to test drive a few midsize SUVs, and JAIME couldn't tell me the basics of any of them, like wheel sizes, what type of engines they were, or fuel tank capacity. These are basic things even a rental car sales lot should know. I won't say the type of SUVs I drove, since things went left and I had to go ham on them, but let's just say the vehicles were very misrepresented. Low miles always seem like a great thing, but then you do some research and find out why they have been sitting so long! The one I originally was going to choose ended up having a CURRENT RECALL on it that has NOT been taken care of, yet they are STILL trying to sale the vehicle! and it's STILL up on the site! I found this out AFTER the mayhem I had to go through first though as followed below: On my financing application I had to be a rough guess-timate of income because, let's be honest, no one's income is EVER the exact same month to month, but it was a general idea and NOT far off at all. HERTZ/JAIME and his coward manager lied and tried to say that my income was "not consistent enough" with what I tried to finance with, and they said that the main bank denied the application. Now I know that was a lie, because I immediately called the bank and asked them to their faces if that were true. They said "no, it's still pending and we are just waiting for Hertz to move forward". So I ask Jaime, who has now come back and forth from inside 5 times by now that why are they trying to process my income as just one income when I clearly said the amounts I APPLIED WITH are TWO separate incomes??? His dumb#!@ of course didn't know how to give a cookie cutter answer, so he has his even dumber boss come out, and he says "the income doesn't match what you were approved for" which I know that's not the entire truth, and then I ask him point blank "so looking at my documents, WHAT EXACTLY is my income then if it's no where near what I applied with??" And OF COURSE he gets a dumbfounded look on his face and says "well, we didn't add it up." OOHHHH, SO IF YOU DIDN'T ADD UP THE ACTUAL INCOME TO GIVE ME AN ACTUAL DIFFERENCE OF FIGURES, HOW COME YOU KEEP TRYING TO TELL ME THAT YOU CAN'T GO FORWARD WITH THE PURCHASE BECAUSE MY "ACTUAL INCOME IS TOO LOW" WHEN I KNOW FOR A FACT THE TOTAL INCOME IS NOT MORE THAN $200-$300 OFF FROM THE MAIN APPLICATION?? AND I WAS PRE-APPROVED ALREADY BY THE BANK ANYHOW??? YOU MEAN TO TELL ME YOU CAN'T GO BACK AND SIMPLY EITHER WORK WITH THE BANK TO SUBMIT "LOWER" INCOME AMOUNT? AND MY STATEMENTS SHOW THAT NO MATTER IF "LOWER" A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS, I STILL VERY WELL CAN MAKE THE MONTHLY PAYMENT I WAS OFFERED WITH THE FINANCE LOAN?? But not to mention, YOU KEEP TRYING TO PROCESS THE APPLICATION USING JUST ONE OF MY INCOMES, which CLEARLY wasn't enough for the total listed, which is why I LISTED TWO INCOMES TO ADD UP TO THE TOTAL YOU'RE LOOKING AT?? HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE??? To make a very long story short, the manager LIED about going back inside to run the number again/talk to the bank. He just kept going back to his desk to stall, and come back out with the same answer. The bank literally said they would work with them, and with a final offer offer given by Jaime, that was supposed to happen, but then abruptly JAIME just came out and said "Sorry, manager says there's nothing we can do for you". WOW. So I just waste 4 hours of my time, my credit is ran as hard inquiry, for you i.d.i.o.t.s. to just give up like that?? And the manager wasn't even man enough to come face me himself; sent his little weak boring employee Jaime to do it?? How sad. But after everything said and done, it must have been a blessing in disguise though protecting me from the recall I found out about after. Plus I went to a different dealership, and used the same bank approval, AND "LOWER" INCOME, to effortlessly drive away with better car. Take THAT, fake scamming Hertz!!!! Reporting to BBB!! P.S. Drove an hour to get to them, already had a pre approved finance letter, sent them my ID and proof of insurance as requested so they can get us out of there quick. I finally arrive, not greeted by anyone, Adrian the employee I had been texting all day just kept messaging me he would be right out, I couldn't find the car I wanted anywhere even when Adrian had said please txt me when you're 10 mins away so I can pull the car, finally get all the way in the back, the car is dirty as can be, water spots all over, deep yellow scratches on the back bumper when I specifically asked him if the car had any blemishes or scratches that were noticeable. Adrian continues to text me never once coming out to even say hi and apologize, I find another car I am interested in, Adrian still no show at this point I've been at the dealership for 45 mins, he would only text me to ask if I wanted him to start the paperwork mind you he still has yet to come introduce himself! The time finally comes, Adrian comes out, he apologized but no sympathy in his face or body language, I expressed this was the most unprofessional interaction I've ever been a part of, so I say here your chance to redeem yourself what kinda deal can I get on this car based on the horrible experience I just went through. He said nothing we can do but if you want the car please let me know so I can get paperwork started, I ask him to speak to his manager he said he's gone for the day and it's only him and the finance guy who couldn't leave his office, I let him know I will be leaving a horrible review on every platform I can think of with no hesitation he said understandable again no sympathy, I ask him for the business card of the manager and he hands me the finance managers card not the general manager. I've bought from Hertz before in Roseville everything was great but these guys are a joke, pathetic! By the way there lot was overflowing with cars you couldn't fit another one in there and yet did not hesitate to send me away! Easy online, no contact buying experience. Used AutoTrader app to select car (2020 Kia Optima, 10K miles, under Kelly Blue Book value) and applied for financing. Hertz was prompt in sending an email response and was able to finish the sale through SMS text and a few phone calls. Requested car drop off ($100 fee) and they delivered the car to me the SAME day that financing was approved and was able to sign all the papers in about 10 mins in my driveway safely with masks. Austin the sales rep was wonderful (so was Adam who also called me) and the manager drove him down himself for the delivery. Definitely recommend them. read more

As I suspect with many folks, I was prepared for buying a used car to be a daunting experience. I had done my research for weeks online; getting an idea of what I could afford and what that might get me. I even brought a "car guy" friend with me when I finally set the date since I really know next to nothing about vehicles. We were greeted at Hertz in Pleasanton by this affable and friendly young guy eager to assist. I had five cars in mind, immediately eliminated two on sight and test-drove two. I was impressed by Soham's easy-going manner and willingness to assist; he was constantly looking up specs while I test drove and readily had all the questions answered before we even returned to their lot. I definitely appreciated their "no haggle" pricing and soft sell. They knew I was there to buy something, but didn't try to push anything on me. The manager, ###, explained options and warranties so that I fully understood everything available and never high-pressured me to do anything I wasn't prepared to do. The whole process was about as easy as anyone could hope for, and now after 3 weeks driving my new-to-me vehicle, I am a happy guy! I would definitely recommend Soham and the Hertz Pleasanton team to anyone in the market for a new-to-them used vehicle where everything's transparent, friendly and helpful staff, and just not what I was expecting in the used vehicle marketplace. Figured this would've been a more reliable place since Hertz is a big name - but boy was I completely wrong. These people are fraudulent salesmen. They're liars and scammers, and they do whatever they can to get you in the door. Be warned when you see the cars on their website - they take pictures of their cars from angles in order to hide the true condition of the car. The pictures you see online -- yea, no. But beyond the conditions of the cars themselves, the people here are just absolutely terrible. They will absolutely trick you out of your money. I'll walk you through the experience I just had with them: I inquired about a car they'd had a week before visiting. Keep in mind, I live an hour or two from this dealership. Also, keep in mind that Hertz's car prices are not negotiable. This will be good info for later in this "story". When I'd inquired, I spoke to them about the car's availability, the condition it was in, and the price. I confirmed nearly everyday to make sure it was still available -- and sure enough, it was. But after visiting, I now know why. I drive down, I let them know I'm on my way. When I get there the car I'm looking at is out front. Looks great from a distance. We meet with Jaime. Upon inspection of the car, we notice rust, significant damage to the interior of the car, which was NOT pictured on their website, pet hair all over the seats, scratches all over the inside of the car and damage to the seats as well. Damaged sidewalls on the tires, which makes the car undrivable. Especially 2 hours home. Parts are missing and paint is also chipped. None of which was pictured on their website. The car itself was dirty as all hell.. You'd think that if they knew we were potentially buying, especially if the appointment was made a week out and confirmed daily, that they'd clean it up..? Guess not. Jaime talks to his manager about the damaged sidewalls because he understood how dangerous that is to drive on - he says they may be able to work something out to get it done, but that it wouldn't be done today and we'd have to come back another day. This is when we start noticing the red flags. If we hadn't noticed the damaged sidewalls, they would've totally sold the vehicle as-is, and we would've ended up sitting on the side of the freeway waiting for a tow truck to pick up my new car. Then, we go to talk about finances. They're not willing to talk about what our actual finances would look like unless it was guaranteed for them that we bought the car. They also mention at this time, that the morning that we came out, they decided to significantly up the price, although it "hadn't hit the internet yet". Once again, like I mentioned, their price is not negotiable. They were unwilling to honor the price I inquired about a week ago. They knew when I was coming a week in advance, and then pull this a couple hours before I arrive without updating prices online or anything of the sorts. Which is, may I remind everyone, FRAUDULENT. I mention this to them and tell them that we'd be happy to discuss finances and later get attorneys involved in order to get the price we'd agreed upon. This is when they decide to decline sale to us. Completely a waste of time. Do not ever go here - it seemed great when speaking to them on the phone, but the second we got on the lot everything went downhill pretty quickly. We will be reporting them for fraud so that hopefully nobody else has to deal with them anymore. Within a few minutes I was able to get all the information I needed and decided to get the car. DON'T TRY TO PAY WITH A PERSONAL CHECK. My daughter came here to purchase her first car and trade in our old one. They had a lot of great cars available and they gave us a good amount for our trade-in. The sales guys were all very nice and helpful (Thanks guys!) THE PROBLEM WAS when my daughter tried to pay for a car with a personal check (she had ample funds in her account). They ran it through their "system" and it was declined. So I wrote a personal check from my own account (again, there were ample funds in there). My check was also run through their "system" and was declined. We each called our banks, and were told that NO checks were ever presented to them at all. We were then told by Hertz manager that they have no control over the "system" they run payment checks through and that they are OFTEN declined and they don't know why. So if you want to buy a car there and pay for it in full - plan on your personal check being rejected. Plan for the hassle of leaving and having to obtain a cashiers check or plan to go through financing. The employee especially marco the head man had presssured me into signing my paperwork he caught me at a vulnerable time. It took like 3 hours to get my stuff done they. They kept saying that the car i was buying was 12,500 with a warranty from pep boys at no cost.
