My husband and I ordered the fish and chips and garlic noodles with shrimp as take out. When we got home they forgot to put the fish in the box and only put 3 shrimp (extra 5$). I called as my husband returned to have the issue fixed. The just gave him some fish and a side of ice cold shrimp to add to the good stuff r already had. BT the time we had all of our items everything was cold and had to be microwaved. The good itself was ok but I wouldn't eat here again. I hat we got in as not worth what we paid. read more

It pains me to write this because whoever was in charge of marketing did a great job. Being transplants from the Deep South, a skip away from New Orleans, and having eating hundreds of pounds of crawfish and shrimp in our lives, we were very excited with the Facebook and Instragram ads we were being spammed with. Live crawfish in the Coachella Valley...what a treat! Immediately upon entering, we were not greeted by anyone and kind of stood there for a bit wondering what to do. We were then taken by a very nice server to a table who handed us their menu. She took our drink order and went to take our order. When we attempted to order, she informed us they didn't have any live crawfish, only frozen. We wanted to order four pounds of crawfish and were told the limit per party was two pounds. Frozen crawfish is not a dealbreaker for me if prepared correctly. With the marketing of sucking heads, I was ready for as close to an authentic experience as I could get. We ended up ordering two pounds of crawfish and two pounds of shrimp. It took about 20+ minutes to get our drinks, which was a simple water and a bottled beer. We were also informed they were out of potatoes. At that, a couple of tables left, but we stuck it out. They did however have boiled eggs in their boil, and we were absolutely confused by this. In nearly 40 years of eating authentic cajun food, I had never seen or heard of this, and it was not appetizing. There then was a robot waiter that moved through the restaurant delivering food. While I thought it was pretty cool, it seemed completely unnecessary in this tiny restaurant and a waste of capital expense when your marketing promises a real cajun crawfish experience, and it failed to deliver. When our food came out, it didn't have the smell of cajun spices. Instead, it was drenched in a pound of butter and about a hundred cloves of garlic. The corn was overcooked. The potatoes that apparently they did end up having were cooked well but dismally seasoned. The eggs, I won't even go there. The sausage was okay and well-cooked. It was a pre-seasoned andouille, so it had a different flavor than the rest of the boil. The shrimp were frozen shrimp, which, again, can be fine if prepared properly, however they were drenched in butter and garlic but no flavor, certainly no cajun flavor. Then finally the crawfish. The true test of a good preparation of crawfish, and which was a part of their social media marketing, is being able to suck some flavorful cajun spiced juices out of the head of the crawfish. There was no juice in any of the heads and believe me I tried. The crawfish tails themselves, the quality despite being frozen actually wasn't bad, but again no flavor, as if they were taken out and thrown in a saute pan with all that garlic and butter and called it a day. A few other observations were, my husband asked for cocktail sauce in an effort to get some flavor. The sweet waitress (and I mean that sincerely) innocently said she wasn't familiar with a lot of cocktail mixers (apparently not familiar with cocktail sauce). If you are going to run a seafood restaurant, you have to know what cocktail sauce is, and I would encourage offering it even if it's bottled, although it would be great if they decided to make their own and put their own spin on it. Second, the waitress sweetly stated they had Southern style sweet tea, but it was peach tea. Offering Southern sweet tea and if done correctly would be a real treat. Lastly, they need to offer wet wipes and change to having the strong brown paper towels at the table versus fast food napkins where we had to use a million. It would save them money. Several tables came and left without eating while we were there. I can't speak as to why they did, but I can say I can understand why they would. We should have walked into that place hit in the face with cajun spices and ambiance rather than a $10k+ robot waiter. There should have been a sign on the door or immediately told about no live crawfish as well as the ordering limit. The premise and idea of the restaurant is absolutely fantastic and could absolutely be a gem in the Coachella Valley, however I think the investments were made in the wrong places. I'd rather go into a hole in the wall with wobbly tables, one choice of beer, a seat yourself sign, a big pitcher of sweet tea, and amazing cajun southern food. With all of this said, I truly hope they make some changes that would absolutely make this place a shining star. The owners were very sweet and I would love nothing more than for them to succeed. I hope to be a frequent patron in the future. read more

How does the old TV jingle go? Food, Folks and Fun! The food is delicious. We could not get enough of their homemade tasty Cajun style sauce. The staff was welcoming and friendly. And the overall atmosphere is just fun. They even have a robot delivering the food! Does that mean we don't have to tip? Well, the rest of the staff worked so hard to satisfy everyone. We also appreciate the progressive approach to payments by going cashless. Welcome to the 21st century! This place is great for a quick bite with the family or to hangout for drinks with friends or colleagues. Mr. Claws is a unique and welcome addition to the desert. I believed the hype, so we came here for the cajun shrimp & garlic noodles. We were extremely disappointed. The sauce was really sweet and vinegary. The shrimp tasted like they were just defrosted & popped into a steamer. The garlic noodles were basically spaghetti noddles with a bit of garlic. The white rice soggy. How do you mess up white rice? We live near several of these cajun shrimp shots back home and every single one is better than this. I hope they get it together because the potential is there & the desert needs this. I almost didn't want to do a post for fear this place will get too busy, but my husband told me don't be selfish lol. This place is a cozy crab boil that has great service. The staff was very kind and attentive. The food was really good! We had the garlic noodles with lobster tail, the lemon pepper wings, and the twosome boil. This was plenty for my husband and I. We got the claw sauce mild. It was actually pretty mild and flavorful. The owner was very friendly as well. We will definitely comeback soon. read more

I used to come here all the time when it was New Fortune, a restaurant that specialized in Chinese and Vietnamese food. Now it's strictly seafood with a touch of Cajun ... and it's still excellent. I've had the garlic noodles with lobster tail and the fish and chips. A friend had the mussels and potato with medium spicy sauce. Everything was delicious: the garlic noodles were perfect, with just the right amount of garlic, and the lobster tail with butter dipping sauce was sublime; the cod was lightly breaded and the chips/fries were just the right combination of crispy and tender. The staff is friendly and the service was top notch. And what can I say about Bella, the robot waitress; when she came out with a birthday cupcake and sang "Happy Birthday," the room lit up with smiles. I will go back again and again. UPDATE: I went again and, with a friend, ordered the two-person shrimp (head off) meal with Cajun sauce, corn on the cob, potatoes, sausage and boiled egg. It was messy but absolutely delicious. I couldn't eat all of it so I brought the shrimp with sauce home and had it over pasta noodles; just as yummy as it was originally. There was a family in the place with two small children and they just loved Bella the robot waitress. read more

Trinity was our servers name and she was so patient and explained everything to us and she made sure our experience was amazing! It's a very unassuming restaurant but the food is excellent. The clam chowder was full of clams and not overly potatoes. The flavor was amazing. We get the dinner for two which comes with your choice of twin kinds of seafood potatoes, corn, and andouille sausage. It is serve in a big bowl and you get bibs and plastic gloves and you eat it like a seafood boil. We get the crazy claw sauce and you can get it as spicy or mild as you want. The flavor is amazing and the portions are big. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. read more

Great place to have Cajun seafood. If you don't mind the wait (since the seafood is steamed when you order), the food is as good as Kicking Crab and Boiling Crab in LA. The House Sauce is the best. The Lemon Pepper was a little too salty for me. It's also nice that they include boiled eggs when you get the family meal. (you don't get that at KC or BC). So if you're use to the food at KC or BC, then you'll be right at home here. read more

WOW, WOW, AND WOW. My husband and me went to Mr.Claws on Friday nite 17th (last night). It was more than terrific... We were more than blown away by the food, quality, and the excellent service and explanations of the presentation of the food. Their seafood selection is outstanding. The novelty of having your food delivered to your table by an R2D2 robot was unexpected and find. We thought the prices were in line with the great quality of the food. TRY IT SOON... This place is truly one of a kind, it's exactly what the Desert needed. The food is phenomenal the staff is very nice and the coolest part is a robot brings you your food. The service, the food, the decor, and the overall experience was top notch! It was a very clean and quant place in size. I was pleasantly surprised at how attentive and nice EACH of the staff members were. It's not often you go out to eat to new places and have as good of service as we did. The server(s) kept checking in on us and making sure we were taken care of throughout the whole meal without being over the top about it too. Our one server Trin (name I saw on the bill) even brought out a hotter sauce for us to try since she noticed we were looking for a spicer meal. I almost forgot to mention, our food came out on an electric cat server that responds if you pet its ears! I have never seen one in person and it was the BEST look on my friend's face to see. Overall, it was such a pleasant experience! My friend and I even had the door held open for us as they noticed we were leaving which was so lovely and courteous of them, especially in the cold! 10/10 I definitely recommend to anybody looking for good seafood AND good service without having to drive 2+ hours out of town for it! read more
