We drove about an hour here after seeing their social media for such a long time. There's a decent size parking lot in the back but on a Saturday around noon parking was very difficult. Lots of people driving around. Place was packed. We waited about 35 minutes to be seated but it was worth the wait. Our server was nice and food came out pretty quickly for how busy it was. Not only is this Instagram worthy food but it actually tastes really good too! I was worried it may not taste as good as the pictures but it did. Everything was really good. Pricing was good. I've been following this diner on instagram for years and all their specialties look so good but I live so far. But lately, I've been in the area on a weekly basis so I decided to see if this food was really good or just hype. I ordered the Godfather wrap which is breaded and fried chicken cutlet with penne vodka in a wrap and deep fried. It also came with fries. Let me tell you, this item was phenomenal. The chicken was tender. The penne was cooked perfectly and when I opened the take out dish and the wrap was steaming. They cut it in half and so when I took the first bite it was hot. I practically burned my mouth on it. Service was excellent. I walked in and told them my name and it was waiting for me. When I ordered it said estimated time to be done was 15 min. I was there around then and it was ready and piping hot. The ambiance inside is that of a typical diner. It looked clean but I can't comment much as I did takeout. I will be ordering another Instagram specialty soon. They have a section on their menu for this. I recommend this place with 5+ stars for quality of food and takeout service. My grown up grill cheese was delicious and hearty. Tender Short Ribs, mac & cheese with American cheese on thick white bread served with their creamy tomato soup. Fries were also an option but it's cold outside so I went with the quintessential grilled cheese and tomato soup. The short ribs were nice and tender, mac & cheese was good. I don't know where the mac&cheese ended and where the American cheese began but it was a good melted elevated grill cheese for sure. I took half home. The Mt Kisco diner is not your typical diner, definitely more upscale in ambience and not your typical diner food. Given the satisfaction with our sandwiches we should have stopped there without ordering the "mega" chocolate chip shake. A vanilla milkshake with chocolate chip crumbs strewn on the plate with a ton of vanilla frosting. The "insta-worthy" presentation was just that. There was a mountain of vanilla frosting on top of the glass to adhere the chipwich ice cream sandwich. We really couldn't eat the chocolate crumbs or chocolate drizzle without getting a mouthful of the sweet frosting. So IMHO $16 for a small shake served in a mason jar with a handle with a Chipwich just doesn't add up. The hostess Tatiana came over to introduce herself, she was so sweet and made us feel welcome. She has been with the diner for 30 years. A testament to the owner/managers for sure. Given the disappointment with the shake, I would gladly return to try some of the other breakfast and lunch items whose descriptions definitely peaked my interest. Their massive menu of unique dishes and milkshakes took me about 15 minutes to read. I ended up ordering one of their "Instagram favorites": the Chicken Alfredo Taco. It is deep fried breaded chicken cutlets with angel hair alfredo sandwiched in between. It was outrageously good and foodgasmic. It smelled out of this world and tasted even better. I experienced a moment of food europhoria. My order was everything you could imagine. The taco is just like the IG page presents. The portion was so enormous that I could not eat alI of it. I was going on a road trip upstate and had to detour to check this place out-I was surprised how nice and spacious it was and there was even a cute outdoor dining area. Since this was a hike for us and I wanted to try multiple things we opted to split a few. We got the vodka pasta tacos-they we're huge! We also got the next level wrap which was buffalo chicken and Mac and cheese in a deep fried wrap with the upgraded all vodka fries-this dish was as drool worthy as it sounds. OK we cannot help but laughing reading about the Mount Kisco diner. During the last Ice Age when we were teenagers this is the place we used to hang out when the bar is closed at 4 AM! We were very naughty children. This place was a dump. We're looking at Instagram favorites? What adult is taking recommendations from Instagram? Do you also get your news from Instagram too? We're looking at fried mac & cheese on their menu? Tex Mex spring rolls? We can't help ourselves. There are reasons that certain so-called fusion food doesn't work. For example when and well someone just opened a simple falafel restaurant without trying to change the original recipe? Is it really too much trouble to make tahini sauce now? You could get a decent falafel on the streets of New York for four bucks or five bucks or six bucks! It was enough to fill you up for the entire day. Anyway we do not recommend this place just by looking at the menu. It's one of the first things you've learned when you were training to become a chef if there are too many things on the menu, that means that there is no literal chef, there is no manager and everything is frozen. If you want to eat here go ahead to pay a fortune to kill yourselves. We're just concerned about other people like idiots, apparently nobody cares about anyone else in this world but we really don't believe that's true. Yes we haven't been there since the last Ice Age we admit but don't listen to social media and influencers. Our grown-ups still going to this place and paying this much for frozen low quality meals? Does anybody need health advice? We give it out for free. We actually paid a health coach for a year to help us understand nutrition better and almost nobody in America actually understands nutrition. That especially goes for nutritionists! The people running this place are smart. Whip smart. Somehow they've convinced hordes of people to line up and pay big bucks for middling food, and a few gimmicks. About the food - diner fare - decent, not distinguished diner fare. Lots of fried stuff - tons of it: potatoes, string beans, paninis, calamari, wings, you name it - they fry it. And the fries themselves - which no matter what - have to be exceptional - they fell flat. Soggy - not hot - perhaps not freshly cut (most likely not). We had some protein type chicken dish - with broccoli and quinoa - man they served me a lot of chicken - the broccoli was ok - but the quinoa puddled in water - really killed the dish. And the side dressing it came with -? Not good - not awful, but again no good. Foolishly ordered some fried chicken kids meal for my daughter - no idea what that was that they served - really, no idea. Could have been chicken, could have been almost anything. Oh yea, and a big slog of those aforementioned middling fries. Yes, I committed child neglect w this order. Other stuff at our table? (not homemade) corned-beef hash (still looked good - enough to feed 3). A mayo-laden Caesar Salad, some half-loved matza ball soup, and more fries. So many fries. To top things off - one of their instagram famous milk shakes - truly an assault of the senses and the health. Sugar laden - then more sugar, and yet more sugar again. Heavy-handed and almost impossible to consume - more for "the gram' then the body. Even the whipped cream was poorly executed. So you ask, why the 3 stars? Well the staff was fantastic - a nice if harried group - doing their best to please everyone - and building fantastic forearms carrying around these manhole sized platters of junk. So the place looks very nice inside and they have some great seating outside which is really nice. It feels more like a restaurant than a diner although their menu does have lots of diner food and you can get dinner at any time when they are open. I do like they have lots of healthy vegetarian options which other diners do not have. They have a great quinoa bowl with beets which I enjoyed and many other interesting bowls which is nice. The waitstaff is very friendly as well which is nice. The food is good but the prices are crazy high and that is my biggest complaint! I came with a friend and our bill was over $60 for the two of us to eat dinner...seems a bit crazy. This place is so cool! My partner and I went last Saturday for an early dinner and the milkshakes we saw other people get were insane!!! I was disappointed with this as stuffing only favorite part of the typical thanksgiving meal, so I was excited to have some. Besides the stuffing, I'd order my meal again for sure, the portion was large so I had enough leftovers for the following day which was great. I did feel that it was expensive though, my meal was $30 and I don't recall how much the mac and cheese was but my partner commented that the prices seemed to have gone up since our last time there about two years ago.
