This is a very cute, locally owned place with enthusiastic staff. The two times I've gone, I've only gotten herbal tea, but it was fine both times :] The staffperson serving me and I had a miscommunication about the tea, which she apologized for and offered to replace. I attribute this to the noise level inside as well as mask-wearing muffling our speech a bit. The line-up system is a little confusing, there is a line that goes alongside the bakery case, then seemingly a line that in addition goes straight to the cash register, for what I thought were drink orders only, but then was told that was not the case. My concern here was social distancing. There are stickers on the floor to designate social distancing spots in line, and people were trying to adhere to them, but the place is too small and crowded for that to effectively happen. Also, there is indoor seating, with tables pretty well spaced out, but no one, of course, wearing masks while eating/drinking, and that area being very close to the lines for food/drink. It felt pretty unsafe to me being inside in regards to this being in the middle of a pandemic. To be noted is that it is getting colder, and not as easy for restaurant/cafe owners to have people sitting outside instead. I love the Muffin House Cafe. My husband and I have been coming here for breakfasts ever since we moved to the area. On their website it says that all their egg sandwiches are made to order so we order the sandwich with the eggs over easy. We even call ahead of time to give them time to make the sandwich before hand. Most days they have been accommodating but this particular morning they said they are too busy to make our sandwiches how we would like them. So we called the Medway location and they also refused. My husband asked to speak to a manager and when the manager got on the phone he would barely even let my husband speak. And he was very rude. I understand if you don't want to make the sandwiches a certain way but then maybe you shouldn't advertise on your website that you will. This is not how you run a business. read more

My wife and I have heard good things about the Muffin House Cafe. We have driven by it a number of times but today we decided to drop in. We ordered two blueberry muffins. My wife brought them to the car and did they look good. Sugar glazed, large and weighty, I could'n wait to try them. I was so surprised when outside of the sweetness they were absolutely tasteless. No blueberry taste to be found. Both my wife and I ate most of the top and threw the rest away. So disappointing. I will now continue to drive by in the future. I do not recommend this establishment. I met a friend here on a Saturday morning. It's our halfway point! We were sad when the GPS said Uber Cafe was closed but excited to see it was actually still there. Not sure if it's the same owner, when we were there about 6 months ago she was renovating so maybe? According to their website this is the second location: another one in Medway that's been featured on Phantom Gourmet! When we got there at 915, the parking lot was packed and the line was out the door. It moved fast though. They take your order while in line and then check you out when you get to the register. (Someone later told us this was their first day open, though I'm not sure if that was true, because they seemed so organized even with the line out the door. You'd never know! Well oiled machine!) I had the veggie delight sandwich and my friend had the egg and cheese. We both also got muffins (because they looked so good and customers were saying they were all the rage). I had the coffee roll muffin and she had a pumpkin muffin. Both were delicious! (They were loading the muffins up just as quick as they were running out. Who could turn down a sheet of warm delicious muffins?!) My caramel latte with soy was enjoyable as well. When we left they were handing out muffin samples to the customers waiting in line. We're so happy to see this place so busy, and hoping it's the same owner! The only sad part is they close around 6 now, so no more meeting here on a weeknight after work anymore. I've been coming here literally since they opened. Weekly at minimum, sometimes daily. I dont know what has changed lately but I will no longer be a customer. The last few months I've received countless bagels that are not toasted. At all. Also the fans in the restaurant are on constantly right over the seating area so your food gets cold instantly. This place is adorable! Think Upton's Coffee Bean plus delicious pastries and cookies. My friend got an iced coffee and the frosted pumpkin muffin. The muffin was huge and very moist. I got bacon, egg and cheese on an egg bagel toasted with the cinnamon vanilla iced coffee with cream and sugar. Everything hit the spot! Reasonable prices, friendly service and GREAT COFFEE! I've yet to have anything that I didn't care for from here. Their breakfast sandwiches are great, the coffee is always perfect and my jeans are getting tight. That's the only problem I ha e at this place. It is always busy when I go there so I tend to plan for a few minutes wait but it's worth it. Their muffins are huge, moist and incredible. My favorite so far is the Cinnamon Apple. Today's breakfast is the western breakfast sandwich with Cheddar in a plain wrap. It's the perfect start to a Sunday when I have to go to work. read more

Went on a Saturday at 10:30. Husband wanted a bagel sandwich. They said 20 minute wait for that egg sandwich. I was not impressed that they microwaved the eggs...yuck. We didn't wait for the breakfast sandwich. I read all the reviews about how amazing the muffins were so I was eager to try. I am a muffin fanatic and am always looking for a great muffin. So far, Flour bakery in Boston is the best. These blueberry muffins are just average. They don't even come close to Red Barn muffin tops which I think are the best local muffins. I mean they are not even in the same league. I also tried a banana chocolate chip and it was so overwhelmingly sweet that I couldn't eat it and for reference, I have the biggest sweet tooth on the planet. This place is incredibly overrated. It's better than Dunkin Donuts but can't hold a candle to our local Red Barn muffins. To make it worse, they are crazy expensive and the service is awful. We were told to move to different line than the breakfast sandwich line to order just muffins and coffee. Then, they proceeded to serve muffins to the 6 people behind us in the breakfast sandwich line. What the heck? We waited and after 3 more people went in front of us, we said something and finally got served. So disorganized. This place is NOT worth a visit. Muffins are incredibly average. Don't get the hype. Won't be back. ***reply to owner***- Wow. That is not an appropriate response. How about an apology for my awful experience? I drove out of town to try your establishment and your response to my poor experience is simply priceless. I now know why your Mendon location has awful service. The Muffin House Cafe - what an exquisite gem! My bestie Nadine and I went for a ninety minute power yoga session this morning and after all that work, hard sweat, and putting our bodies in positions that will hurt tomorrow we decided to pop into the Muffin House Cafe for a caffeine boost. We were waiting in line, dripping in sweat, in our black tight yoga pants and the latest Lululemon matching tops when the most handsomest, tan, pubescent, strapping National Grid worker standing behind us said, "hey ladies, can I buy you a blueberry muffin - I swear, they are to die for!". Embarrassed, I awkwardly replied, "I'm so sorry we might smell a little funky from our workout." National Grid quickly took off his hard hat, put it on his chest, and quipped in a Columbian accent, "I find you smell delightful, c'mon lets do this." Enrique bought us coffee, muffins, and we sat in the back room talking about how powerful the coffee was and, more importantly, how rich and moist the blueberry muffin tasted. Enrique winded up taking Nadine's number, kissed her on the earlobe, and whispered "I'll call you tonight". I stopped into the Muffin house while on business in Hopkinton. The food was amazing, but the young woman who waited on me was exceptional. Her name was Paige, and she was extremely friendly. What impressed me the most was she carried on a conversation with me while steaming milk for coffee drinks, making sandwiches, taking orders and being polite to one very obnoxious customer. The Mendon location seems to be lacking quality & customer service. I have been overcharged "accidentally" more than once. The last 5 visits I have been rushed when explaining my order. The workers will not write it down because they will ask you the order numerous times. I will visit the store during the afternoon when it's not busy & I would still be rushed. It seems that the Medway location is managed much better than the Mendon location. Just make sure you check your receipt before you leave. I bet you will be charged for something you did not order. It's time to drive an extra 15 min & visit the Medway location. read more

I have always heard great things about the Muffin House. I visited the Medway location a few times years ago and enjoyed it. I have been to the Mendon location twice in the past 3 months and am unimpressed. The food was good, but the prices are high. My main complaint on both visits is that I had to wait at least 5 minutes or more when there were employees chatting with friends and one came out to talk to her boyfriend! The others were standing around and not looking to see if anyone needed to be waited on. Neither times I visited were busy, both were mid to late afternoon yet, I still waited and waited. I felt ignored. Today when I went in and asked about pies, "do you have any small pecan pies" the server mumbled something inaudible and I had her repeat it...she said we only have what is out. Nothing further like we may have more tomorrow or you can order something etc. I get that she is a teenager. I am a high school teacher. I have taught and been with teenagers for over 20 years.
