Amazing place 200ft from my hotel in Richmond BC. Walked in and asked for take out ,a very friendly waitress gave me a menu and told me she would be right back , which she was. I ordered the Beef brisket curry with steamed rice. I walked outside for about 2 minutes came back in and she appeared with my food... quick is an understatement !!! I got back and opened up the containers and was hit in the face with that curry smell we all know and love right away !! After a few bites I was in a food bliss and wouldn't regain my senses until I finished the dish completely. That being said , I am here for 3 nights , 2 of which will be spent eating at Mui Garden again!!! BEEF BRISKET CURRY !!! A buddy and I stumbled upon this restaurant one day while taking a walk from my place and I'm glad we did. The beef brisket curry is some of the best I have ever had. My girlfriend and I frequently will come back here just for the curry. They have many other noodles dishes that are good as well. The service is pretty standard for Chinese food in Richmond. Neither good nor bad, but they get the job done just fine and there is nothing to complain about. read more

Mui garden does have really tasty beef brisket curry!! However this place is the perfect example of what happens when a restaurant becomes successful and takes their customers for granted. We have gotten takeout beef brisket curry here for a long time and the last few times we got it (we've stopped buying there because of this) they barely filled the takeout container to 3/4 full and we got mostly potatoes and just a few chunks of brisket. When we asked about this they were very defensive and did not fill the containers up. And now they have started charging $0.25 for a container if you eat in and can't finish your food and want to take it home! My gosh Mui Garden might have muy good curry by they are muy cheap and I'm not going to go there anymore. read more

New floors, new paint, bigger portions, and new cook. It all happened in the last few months. And I think the HST has hit this restaurant pretty hard and so business is down. But that makes parking even easier and no waiting. Plus, the same boss and bosses daughter and 4 of the waiting staff are still there after 11 years we've been eating here. read more

Very impolite restaurant staff at Mui Garden Restaurant. I've been craving for their beef brisket curry rice as it's been a couple years since I got back to Vancouver. Walked in the restaurant just to experience impatient staff asking what I am gonna eat. When I sat down at the waiting area together with some other customers, a staff came to give another customer and told me off out of no where, "Not yours." (I did not even expect that the food was mine - after all she approached another customer, not me.) And when mine is finally ready, another staff was yelling "Beef brisket curry rice" in Cantonese... As I approached her, she yelled at me in Mandarin as if I didn't hear what she said. I doubt if I'm going to come back here again in the future. Very unpleasant. read more

The beef brisket curry with rice is AMAZING!! We keep going back for just that. Green beans are good although ive had better. Chow mein was good but not very flavourful, we found this with a few of their dishes which was surprizing as the curry has so much flavour. Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. It's a classic HK style restaurant/diner. All the favorites. Depending on what you order, it can be decent to very delicious. Don't be expecting anything out of the ordinary. It's very traditional, classic Canto style dishes. For the price and what you get, it's pretty good. First of all, I really enjoy reading all the other reviews on this website which was one of the reasons I had a craving for hai nan chicken rice in the first place. It's Friday and that means I get to try out a new restaurant! Mon-Thursday I'm eating healthy mom's home cooking. My co-workers didn't want to walk all the way to Mui Garden from Buswell. But I was determined to go cause of my Hai Nan chicken craving and also I walk pretty darn fast for a 5'7 person. It was a beautiful day perfect sunshine in the unpredictable vancouver spring weather. I ordered the hai nan chicken with rice. It came in like less than 10 minutes. I praised them for the fast service. Came with some healthy soup, small platter of chicken, and of course the rice. There was some ginger sauce when you put it with the rice gives it some serious kick. I really enjoyed the rice, chicken was ok nothing special. Good price $8.5. No wonder my grandma likes Hai Nan chicken rice. read more

It's easily accessible from my house so I've been coming here for a while now. You have to try the beef brisket curry when you come to Richmond. I think the quality has decreased since the first time I came here, because some of the other great menu items such as the bubble tea and the curry lamb have been removed. Ok good. Waitresses can be friendly at times, but obnoxious in other times. A couple of them loves to repeat your order out loud as if to announce to everyone what you are about to eat. They treat frequent customers better than occassional ones. They are especially friendly to you during the Chinese New Year when they are given red-pocket money. read more

These two dishes plus a small/medium bowl of clear soup, plus two small bowls of rice, cost $32! (no dessert -- the restaurant told us the kitchen had not made it yet (visited at 2pm) so sorry no dessert -- while the menu indicated that the combo came with dessert) Service minimal. read more

4.5 stars. Perhaps the best Chinese food I've had while staying in Vancouver/Victoria. The combo meals are really affordable, they even have it available for groups. Their rock cod w/braised pork and tofu hotpot is one of the best hotpots I've ever had. The store itself is abit shabby tucked away however. On the inside they have ghetto white Christmas lights as well as wall after wall showcasing the rewards they've gotten. Highly recommended. read more

Food: best Malaysian curry you can find in Richmond. We had fish curry, spicy porkchop, roti, and chicken skewers. All were delicious, especially the porkchop. Poor service from the waiters. They don't even care to greet or extend any courtesy. One waiter just dropped the food and went away without even checking whether we had any plates. Good place to go to for a quick lunch. The fare is rather simple and you pretty much get what you paid for. It's nothing amazing but it's a great place to go to for a snack or a bowl of noodles on a cold day. Fairly good food, small portion though for what you pay. It gets crowded on the weekends and the Richmond location has pretty crappy parking. I do enjoy their Portuguese Curry Chicken rice and curry brisket. They are fairly consistent in their food quality, service is nothing special. Waitresses bring you food and tea and if your lucky, sometimes a smile. They are able to turn tables quick so you can get on and out in about an hour. This place don't even deserve a 1 star. I travelled from Washington to Canada for one day, and decided to have lunch here. The waitresses was so rude, they didn't want to serve us, but forced us to give them tips even though they didn't provide any kind of good services. They knew that we were foreigners, they gave us attitudes. We arrived in a group of 7 people, they only gave us one menu, and expected us to place the order quickly. One of my friend understands Cantonese, she heard them talking about us being so annoying when didn't do anything disrespectful. The most we asked for is an extra fork and a cup of ice water. I don't think how annoying is that. The worst part is when we're making a payment, we used U.S. credit card and we planned to pay tips in cash, but after we just swiped our card, the cashier repeated many times about the tips. We were so annoyed by that, they were so rude and still wanted to get their tips. Try to avoid this place. Go to other place that treats they customers right. read more

Very decent HK style cafe with a lot of food options. Milk tea is tasty, baked pork chop rice is good. The restaurant is busy and required some waiting time to be seated. They serve complimentary desert and it was red bean soup on the day we went. read more
