I had such an incredible experience at Mumbai Dreams in Nyack. You can genuinely feel the love and passion behind every dish here. It's a family-run restaurant that draws from deep North Indian and Maharashtrian roots, and the flavors are just next level. The chef grinds spices fresh and sources ingredients directly from farmers in India and you can taste that kind of care in every bite. This isn't just a night out, it's a full-on homestyle experience that feels both comforting and special. Some standouts: the butter chicken mac & cheese was such a fun, rich fusion dish; the pani puri was fresh and full of texture and flavor; and the Kolhapuri machli a seabass dish with a bold Maharashtrian spice blend completely wowed me. The Akbari kebab and lamb korma were both beautifully balanced and flavorful, and the kurkure mushrooms with truffle honey might be one of the best veggie starters I've ever had. Now I totally get why they were named Best of Hudson Valley. They absolutely deserve it. The service is outstanding as well.

Caught up with my cousin here as a halfway point and had an amazing meal. We both love trying new foods so don't judge that we ordered this for just 2 people (and yes there were plenty of leftovers to pack). Drinks: Mango Masti- def on the omg too sweet side but the mango was prominent. Would love to see this turned into a lighter martini style drink where the flavors pop with a lot less of the sugar. Apps: Kurkure Mushrooms- these were crispy, tossed in a garlic sauce and devoured. Chatpaty Elote - what a concoction! Love they took individual kernels, got them crispy with a chew and tossed them in a fusion of flavors. This was a special Father's Day weekend menu item but I hope it finds a permanent home. Mulligatawny Soup - Cuz ate this before I could sample (to be fair he offered but I was chomping on mushrooms). He cleaned the bowl so it must have been good! Chicken Tikka Masala Basmati Bowl - This was all my cousin and I heard him praise it- huge portion! Channa Masala - Just a but on the sweet side- surprisingly. I do prefer the more savory version. Note they let you add saag (spinach) to it if you like. Tandoori Roti was solid and made to order as well. Plenty of parking and tons of seating!

I find it very challenging to find Indian food in the states that could be considered within most people's "price range." However, if there's one place I INSIST people try, especially if they're new to the cuisine, Mumbai Dreams is THE spot. Their take on American-Indian fusion is unique and delicious and honestly quite brilliant - incentivizing foreign pallets to try familiar meals with an Indian twist. Well done!

Stopped in for a drink and a light bite . Ordered the mushrooms and calamari apps. Both portions were generous and had enough left over to take home. The calamari was my favorite, but nonetheless was good. It just wasn't for me.

To be fair, we tried out Mumbai when our usual Indian spot was closed for the day. We're long lovers of Southern Indian cuisine so we're a picky bunch. We travel to India so that also influences us. The menu was much more interesting than most and I was excited to try something completely different. 2 adults 2 "kids" age 21. I had heard a lot of good things about it so 4 of us headed over. Clever decor I had a Tikka taco (appetizer) for dinner (funky and delicious) , both kids had tikka masala and the spouse had saag. (3 mains and an appetizer) Kids enjoyed Tikka, only wished it was creamier. Honestly, I think it was a regional issue, and they stuffed themselves so they apparently did like it. We started off with samosas and mango lassi. Delicious. Well presented. Onto dinner, also delicious, with Nan. I had a martini, Meh. Too sweet, flavors didn't make sense. Ended up ordering a Diet Coke. Staff was attentive, but (former waitress here) I think they all share tables rather than are assigned a table. So we had a lot of "all good" when we were ready to order, we'd say we were ready and the waitstaff would politely walk away. Another waitstaff would approach or the same one, and take our order. Minor detail. The meal was relatively expressive, imho. $180 plus $30 tip. At the end of the meal we were really pushed by staff to leave a review right then and there. Not a fan of, too much pressure as the staff stands over me. I simply put the review clip board down and smiled each time they asked if I had given them a good review. That irritates me, let me breathe people

My friends and I walked into Mumbai Dreams around 1pm on a Friday. There was one party in there aside from us, and it did not pick up for the hour that we were there. The interior is going for a more elevated ambiance, and the pricing follows that as well. We ordered chicken tikka masala ($23), chana masala ($19), chana masala basmati bowl ($14), as well as a mango and blueberry lassi ($6/each) and a prosecco ($13). For lunch, I was not expecting entree prices to be more expensive than comparable NYC entrees. Both my friend and I who ordered the chana masala ordered it mild, but there was a substantial kick. I had to order the lassi because my mouth was burning. Be warned if you cannot handle spice in regards to heat! Overall, everyone thought the food was tasty, but nothing outstanding. Service was split. There was one person who explained the specials, who was friendly and accommodating. However, our main server was curt and seemed annoyed at our presence. My friend who has been here before mentioned having a similar experience with this person. One personal issue I had was that he told me I couldn't order the basmati bowl without rice because of the way it was constructed. When my friend's bowl came out, I did not understand why the barrier was, since they could just have skipped the rice while plating? I understand it's an odd request, but I would have appreciated being shut down in a more cordial way.

Five stars! I would give more if possible. We came to celebrate my father's birthday and so glad we made an earlier reservation. They get packed and extremely busy. Service here was absolutely outstanding. Our server went above and beyond. Giving recommendations, checking on us periodically, bringing extra naan and dipping sauces throughout the meal. It is very dim light but it provides the perfect ambiance inside. Your eyes do adjust rather quickly. This officially is my new favorite spot. My lamb biryani had the perfect amount of punch to it, I went with medium and it was just spicy enough that it was still flavorful. My boyfriend who hates Indian food could not stop eating and trying everything! He ordered the lamb kebab which was delicious. My mother ordered a lamb shank and sea bass for the table. The lamb shank we were all fighting over because it was so tender and fresh. My brother ordered the tandoori chicken which was spicy but perfect. We ordered a few special appetizers for the table, there was a bbq chicken wing that was out of this world I sadly forgot to get a picture. The Kohan calamari(hoping I spelt that right) was the perfect amount of crunch to spice. Drinks here are also outstanding. I ordered the Mumbai dream, the colors were beautiful and it was sweet and really did hit the vodka well. It crept up later lol! My father was dying over his old fashioned coming out Smokey, as he had never seen that and absolutely loved it. The naan here was amazing freshly made and so fluffy! They brought out a special gift cheesecake slice with a candle for my father for a nice touch. Parking is great and right out front, highly highly recommend a reservation as it fills up quick! I can't wait to return and try out more of their menu!

My sister was raving about Mumbai Dreams, and we were in the neighborhood so we went. We got there when they reopened for dinner on a Saturday. We ordered drinks, apps, and dinner. The Samosas were excellent, the chicken tikka masala fondue was terrific, and the butter chicken was good. I am pretty picky about chicken, and they cooked it to perfection. The food is seasoned well, and even the mild was spicy, but excellent regardless. The servers were attentive and friendly. It is a beautiful, clean restaurant. I would go back to try other items on the menu!

Had a great time visiting Mumbai Dreams. The experience was nice. In this visit was surprised to sit in this part of the restaurant. The decor was awesome, the ambiance was cool. The service was good, waiters were chill but attentive. The food was good with a mixture of items to make it fresh and interesting. We tried a couple different meal items. Would def, return and recommend.

As an update, I have been back here many times since this review, and every time it's been fantastic! Best Indian I've eaten at outside of India! Worth any wait, but that's not even an issue anymore.

The food, service and ambiance of this place is just great. Mumbai Dreams has a really unique menu and plenty of dishes to try from and options for every type of eater. I've had my share of butter chicken but Mumbai Dreams has one of the best ones I've had. I can't wait to try their butter chicken Mac and cheese. Also as someone who's not a huge fish fan I was pleasantly surprised by their Mahi Mahi fish curry. We had tried several different curries and the best part was they all had their own unique flavor. Honestly, one of my new favorite Indian restaurants, definitely will be going back again! read more

Just ordered through door dash. I've asked before the type of biryani they served and they said Northern Indian style which is a very ambiguous response to a question. The biryani has nuts in it. Nowhere on doordash menu do they say they have nuts in it . I've had my fair share of Biryani (being south east asian myself) and I know this is similar to a Kashmiri Biryani or Sindhi biryani all it's missing is the raisins. On a positive note the spice level when asked to make it extra spicy they fulfilled. Also to say this biryani is layered is disingenuous. It is not a layered biryani. read more

I don't usually write reviews but this place has compelled me to come onto Yelp and write how amazing the food was! I wish I could give more than just 5 stars! My bf and I have been getting lamb shank around nyc from different restaurants to find the best one and Mumbai Dreams stole the show. I was hesitant at first trying Indian food when I believe no one can compete with my moms cooking but the team in Mumbai dreams has shocked me with flavor in every bite! I drove all the way from Brooklyn and plan on going back with a bigger group because everyone needs to try Mumbai Dreams! Not only was the food amazing but the staff was so kind and hospitable every step of the way. Our entrees were taking a while because they are freshly cooked so the owner noticed that we are Muslim and fasted the whole day he presented us with options for on the house apps and desserts! Update: 10/20. The food is so delicious! But you have to account for their overwhelming orders and precautions with COVID. The last 2 times we ordered, it took 1.5 hours for the food to be ready, 2+ hours for delivery on a Friday night. The food is well worth it, just plan accordingly! read more

Best Indian food outside NYC. Restaurant has great ambiance, very friendly and prompt service. Mumbai vada pav, samosa and chowpati ki bhel are must tries among the appetizers. The grilled green shrimp and Bagani Bahar are the stand outs in the kebab section. Definitely try the Mumbai Dreams special curry with Mahi Mahi. You will not find a better tasting curry. And of course, finish it off with Ras malai for dessert. We will keep coming back read more

The worst service ever! It took them over an hour to get our food out while people that came after us were getting served. When we asked the owners she had an attitude and said everything is made to order. But over an hour? The food took one and a half hours to come out. When our food finally came five entrees for five ppl with only one rice for the whole table. When I asked can we have more rice the guy said yes when you finish this I'll bring you more. After waiting so long and we each barely got about a spoonful of rice and then had to wait for more. They treated us horribly because we were five and they knew they would add the gratuity in the bill. The food if you know Indian food then this was not great food and not worth it. If you want customers please change the way you manage the place. read more

Decent food but horrible customer service. Not worth the trip since the staff there are down right rude. Went there for dinner and had a bad experience. I had asked politely to one of the staff how long will the food take as we were waiting quite sometime. Got a very ill mannered response with " well our kitchen is backed up, we make food from scratch". That is understandable at times where restaurants do get busy, but other restaurants will apologize and not respond with an attitude. I previously worked in customer service before and this not how you should be treating paying customers. Management needs lots of improvement in this area. read more

I'll make this brief, went there to eat order my entree, food was Ok. Entree comes with rice, when I asked the waiter if I could have salad instead of rice, he abruptly said "no the rice is complementary and we will not do any exceptions period" which I thought was strange. No food is complementary since I'm paying for it. It seems like they will nickel and dime you for everything I have never had an issue with making this request at other similar restaurants. Ok food not great service in my opinion go elsewhere. read more

One of the best (if not THE best) Indian meals I've ever had. The seasoning, spice level, and salt were ON POINT. Just perfection. They have many creative dishes that seem to be house specialties that you won't see on the menu of every Indian restaurant. They have a selection of different chaats, both on their regular menu and their specials menu, that are delicious and beautifully crafted. My friend and I each ordered different ones and tried each other's - superb. The wine and cocktail menu is creative, thoughtfully curated, and exceptional. I'm not an Indian aficionado, but I have virtually no complaints about the taste of the food, it definitely is on par with the best Indian food I have had anywhere in the area (or anywhere else I've lived/visited). I agree with some of the other reviewers that the cost is above average, even for the area. We ordered (among other things) 2 Tikka Masalas because my experience with most Indian restaurants is that they provide a giant container of Tikka Masala sauce with a relatively small portion of chicken inside. MD was no different here, and possibly even a worse offender as I doubt there were more than 8 small/moderate chunks of chicken (1/4 lb at best) in each serving. Additionally, after ordering on the phone I wasn't notified until after I provided payment that it was going to be 75 minutes until the food was ready. That wait time (on a weeknight) seems excessive and I felt that I should have been told earlier in the process that the food would take that long to prepare. I'm sure I wasn't, because if patrons were told how long the wait was they probably would go elsewhere, unless their heart was set on Indian. In short, if you prepare for long waits, and don't mind paying a premium, I don't think you'll be disappointed in the food. read more

This is an absolutely wonderful taste experience. We have never had a bad meal at Mumbai Dreams. Every dish is seasoned well and absolutely delicious! I absolutely love all the Dal dishes and my sons are big fans of the Chicken Tikka Masala Sandwich. So last night my mom and I went here for the first time. The place opened just 3 months ago but I was excited to check out a new North Indian restaurant so close to home. So here we go!! Next, our appetizers. We got the Chicken Lollipops and the Bombay sandwich. These appetizers were alright. Their menu looked super promising to me and I was in the area after a long hike. It's located in a common area with shops next door in a pretty vacant area. When I entered - I was pleased to see that it's actually pretty huge based on the assumption that's it's a small town restaurant. It was mid day and there was not a single customer but myself and friends. I got the Fried Chicken Tikka Sandwich with the fries and let me just say - it was phenomenal. Amazing. Anytime I pass this area or go remotely 10 miles above NYC I will stop by this place again just to try that sandwich. God it was amazing. The flavors were so tantalizing and the addition of cheese was strangely a good choice. Ugh - cannot wait to come back!! For now I will try recreating it in my own kitchen hehe. read more

Was in the mood for Indian food and my wife and I happened to be in the area getting her car fixed at Mavis close by. I must say it was destiny that we found this restaurant. Very friendly staff very cool atmosphere. Unfortunately we couldn't eat it at the restaurant since my wife's car was finished and we had to pick it up since the car shop was closing up. We told the staff that we had to take our food to go and they were happy to make it happen for us. The owner came by and asked us if all was ok since we decided to take our food to go. We reassured him all was well and that we loved his restaurant and we would definitely come back. As they say good things come to those who wait. Simply Wow. When we got home and got our food out the bag. The wonderful Indian spices were unleashed into the air and my tastebuds and tummy wanted more. We ordered the Vegetable Samosa, Malai Tikka chicken, Chicken Korma medium spicy and Nan garlic bread. I highly recommend this place. Nice spot for a romantic dinner. So happy we found this place, just 20 minutes away from us too. The food was scrumptious & service was excellent. We live in lower Westchester County NY, which is close to NYC. So we have eaten at many Indian restaurants. But Mumbai Dreams is better than any of them. The Tandoori chicken was the best we've ever had. Everything was prepared fresh, with minimal oil & just enough salt to enhance the flavors. The owner, Nausil, was so nice & came over to chat with us. WOW! I started ordering at Mumbai Dreams right after they opened and just got chicken Tikka Masala and was very impressed with the quality and quantity of food. You can easily get 2-3 meals out of your order which makes it well worth the price. Today I mixed it up and got the Malvani with chicken and I am so impressed. I love spicy food and it's the perfect heat for me. I've never had this type of curry, but I know I'll be ordering it again. My friend and I went to eat in the restaurant, but unfortunately we had to switch to take out last minute (sorry about that!!!) I had an incredibly disappointing and embarrassing experience at Mumbai Dreams in West Nyack, NY. As a female customer, I felt ignored, degraded, and completely disrespected by the staff and management during what should have been a simple takeout order. I ordered chicken biryani and samosas through Uber Eats with an initial wait time of 20 minutes. Within minutes, the restaurant arbitrarily extended the wait time to 40 minutes, then to an hour. When I arrived after the hour, my food was still not ready, and I ended up waiting a total of two hours. The all-male staff ignored me entirely, and when I tried to inquire about my order, the manager's response was shockingly unprofessional. He spoke to me in a condescending and degrading manner, placing the blame on Uber and refusing to take any responsibility for his staff's lack of urgency in preparing my order. To make matters worse, he outright dismissed my concerns, offering no apology or acknowledgment of the poor service. I couldn't help but feel that I was being treated this way because I am a woman. His tone and attitude were so appalling that other customers dining in the restaurant noticed how poorly I was being spoken to. It was humiliating. Adding to the frustration, when I initially ordered through Grubhub, the restaurant called to persuade me to order directly with them, claiming it would be cheaper. I checked out this spot after attending Liturgy at St. Thekla Orthodox Church down the street from the restaurant. After a blessed liturgy, I then turned my gaze to something to satisfy my hunger after a long fast. As I entered the premises of this beautiful restaurant, I was immediately greeted by a very welcoming staff who took care to make sure my hunger was adequately taken care of. I was provided with a menu of mouthwatering delicacies that my insides church - struggling to figure out what even to order. If my stomach could handle it, I most definitely would have ordered the entire menu and ate everything then and there, but as I am a feeble human being with a limited stomach capacity, while also an Orthodox Christian, fighting against the evil temptations of gluttony - I was able to settle for the Disco Fries and Chicken Naan Pizza. I left the compounds of the restaurant fully satisfied with my meal, and when I next return to this gracious city, I will once again embark on this new Dream of mine to try everything on the Mumbai Dreams menu. Where do I even begin with this place. Heard so many good things about Mumbai Dreams that my family and I had to find out on our own. Holy Cow!!!!, this is what you call traditional Indian cuisine. Upon entering you can tell it's the beginning of a culinary journey, the smell of spices (which you can smell in the parking lot), decor but best of all the customer service. The moment we opened the door it was service with a smile, truly nice and genuine staff, you can tell it's from the heart. We were seated promptly and given menus and beverage preference. We ordered a mixture of both traditional and fusion apps ( the tacos, bhel, mac n cheese and samosa) which were all on point. As for Mains, we got chicken tandoori, dongri kebobs, tikka masala and Biryani. I have to say we were stuffed, they give a lot of food so we had leftovers (which were as good if not better the next day). Overall this place gets 5 stars +, our go to spot for Indian moving forward. read more

I recently visited Mumbai Dreams in Nyack, NY, and it's truly an amazing halal restaurant that stands out for its unique presentation and creative Indian fusion menu. We started with a variety of appetizers including the fried butter chicken sandwich, chicken wings, Akbari chicken, crispy mushrooms, machli chili fry, and dahi puri--everything was absolutely on point and full of flavor. For the mains, we had the paneer kadhai, dal makhani, and cheese garlic naan, which were rich, comforting and perfectly cooked. Their drinks were just as impressive--we tried aam panna along with some of their fun mocktails like Gulabi Aankhen, Meethi Chai, Thandai Gulabo, and Neela Aasman, all beautifully presented and refreshing. Overall, a fantastic halal dining experience with delicious food, great creativity, and a menu that keeps things exciting. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Nyack, NY! read more

My family and I visited this restaurant tonight to celebrate my sister's birthday, and even though they prefer reservations, they graciously seated us. The chic, clean decor immediately stood out, and the service was top-notch. The staff really goes the extra mile to ensure an excellent experience, with constant follow-ups and attentiveness to every need--definitely 5 stars for service alone. We requested a cake with a candle for my sister, and they surprised us with a complimentary mango mousse cake, which was absolutely delicious! The food was authentic and fresh, capturing all the right flavors. The only small caution is the spice levels: they offer mild, medium, and spicy, but be warned--spicy is extremely spicy, so order at your own risk! read more

Mumbai Dreams is a fantastic spot! The restaurant is quite spacious, with a large bar area and plenty of seating in the main dining space. We had an excellent experience, especially with the specials menu--everything we tried was delicious. Highly recommend the Nihari tacos; they were a standout! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations that really enhanced our meal. There's plenty of room for a stroller, and they have high chairs, which is a big plus for families. Don't miss the smoked Old Fashioned, prepared right at your table--such a fun and flavorful touch. Absolutely phenomenal food with an amazing and caring staff. I went with a few friends to check out this spot known for it's Indian food but with a nice Western twist. I ordered the Chicken Samosa sandwich, along with Disco Fries, and it was after spending so much time trying to figure out what even to order. I'll definitely be back again to try out their other many delicacies. I recently moved to Piermont from NYC and while I love my new home, the selection of high quality food in the Lower Hudson Valley is not to the standard of NYC. This being said, I was blown away by Mumbai Dreams. The owner is an outstanding proprietor who is very customer service oriented.
