Great food and portion sizes! We also got the lumpia and banana lumpia both of which exceded our expectations. Amazing staff and restaurant. 10/10

    Lechon Kiwali with white rice
    Nikki C.

This review is based on a to go order at the establishment. Food - 1. teriyaki & lumpia combo w/ friend rice. The chicken seemed like the portion got smaller, however when I got it before portion was a lot larger, so I see come inconsistencies with serving portion. The glaze is a bit sweet for my taste. The fried rice was tasty, nicely seasoned and some side of veggies completed the dish. The lumpia were so small- not sure if it was because it was the combo, but it was mini lumpia, but crispy and flavorful. 2. Lechon kiwali - crispy pork belly with side of small scoop of white rice. The portion side was decent, definitely nothing to write home about. The flavor was decent, but it was nicely crispy. The side of vinegar based with garlic complemented the pork. Service - since it was a Togo order, not much was observed however almost waited 40mins! If the serving sizes was decent or larger, then it might have been worth the wait, but sadly it was not. Overrall the food was decent and seasoned well, however between the pricing and serving size and the wait time, this place will not be my first choice. Although the workers were apologetic for the wait time and super nice folks, but unfortunately for a to go order that really doesn't matter.

    Pork Sisig and Pork Sinigang

We recently moved to the area from CA and were in need of Filipino comfort food. We found Mum's fish n chips in the Bremerton area. We love this place!! We've been here a couple times already. The pork sisig is soo good and crispy. The pork sinigang is great for the rainy days in WA. We also really love their halo-halo here. It tastes just like the ones you'd get back home in the Philippines. It has the perfect amount of ingredients and it's just perfect. The workers are also very welcoming and customer service is great! We'll definitely bring our visitors here to try! :)

Disclaimer: This review is only for the sisig and pakbet - which are the only things I ever come here for. Disregard this review if you want to know how their fish and chips or teriyaki are... heck if I know. It's pretty amusing how Kitsap County has 2 great Filipino eateries that are primarily referred to as "Fish 'n Chips and Teriyaki". Honestly if it wasn't for the word of mouth among the Kitsap Filipino community, I would have never known they served Filipino food here while driving by. I guess it's to attract the non-Filipino crowd? The four stars is literally for the sigig, which is the only thing I come here for. I can't speak for eating in either... my family only ever comes here for takeout for the sisig and pakbet. For a family of four, we go with 2 take out orders of sisig and an order of pakbet. There are a LOT of varieties of sisig - the original is made with the discarded parts of the pig fried up. Mum's is the more popular / modern version that's become trendy in the U.S. - it's chopped of bits of lechon kawali (basically deep fried pork belly) tossed with onions, jalapenos, garlic, and a splash of vinegar. The result is a very crispy, savory bits of pork belly with the other ingredients cooked with the excess fat. For me, a good sisig is crispy, not too fatty, and not too oily. Mum's sisig covers that. It's got a nice crispy texture from the skin and doesn't have a lot of fatty, gooey bits - big plus. Yet the meaty parts are still moist and flavorful. Don't freak out about the bits of jalapenos; it's not at all spicy due to everything else going on, if anything it gives a nice subtle kick to go with the vinegar flavor. The portion for a single order is huge and comes with a nice generous serving of rice. I'd recommend eating the sisig with rice - the oil given off by the sisig goes well with the neutral rice flavor. The other dish we get very often with the sisig is the parkbet. Pakbet is a vegetable/meat stew dish that uses fermented shrimp paste (bagaoong) as the base. While bagaoong is super salty and pungent in flavor, it actually works very well in this stew to give it a nice savory flavor. The odor may be a bit much (it's fermented shrimp after all) but for Filipinos it's a smell/flavor we crave. Mum's version is very good with lots of veggies (string beans, eggplant, kabocha, etc.) and a mix of meat. In our last serving we got a mix of shrimp and lechon kawali pieces, which is quite typical. I'd highly recommend pairing the sisig with the pakbet, as it makes for a nice protein / veggie combo with rice. My biggest complaint with the pakbet is the takeout logistics - the last 2 times we've ordered this as takeout the container always seems to leak liquid. Luckily they put it in it's own separate plastic bag... but god forbid if the parkbet sauce were to get on the car seat or elsewhere. It stains, and the smell can stick. For the price, portions, and quality... this is one of the better sisigs I've had between here and the Bay Area. Plus the price point is great - it's cheap, good, and plentiful for a single entree order. I've paid $15 for sisig that's a 1/4 the portion they give at Mum's and it wasn't even as good (screw you Attic in San Mateo, CA). I've carried this sisig on a place to San Jose and it still tasted really good after microwaving it. A lot of times sisig becomes soggy or mushy the day after unless you fry it. This? Just pop it in the microwave and it's still good. Anyways, if you ever need sisig for a party or are too lazy to cook lechon kawali just to turn it into this style of sisig... then come here. It's a very unassuming place with their sign... but this is my go-to place for sisig in Washington. Even the places in Seattle / King County don't hold up.

Chicken Teriyaki Plate from Mums in Bremerton.

Tried Mum's for the first time yesterday. Not bad. I ordered a plate of Fish and Chips, Chicken Teriyaki and half Dozen Lumpia. The lumpia was small but very tasty. Also I think it was cooked perfectly for the size. (I would definitely order again). The Fish and Chips: The portion is really small. It comes in the old school red & white checked French Fry box that you would see at Crazy Eric's. Not a lot of fries and small pieces of fish. Overall it was okay but the tarter sauce was not to my liking. The Chicken Teriyaki: The presentation on this is good. The plate is full and looks great! The chicken has a hint or bbq flavor which is nice and the rice was your typical clumpy white rice. The salad I passed on. I don't like when it comes with dressing already on it. The teriyaki sauce however was different. Not sure what to think about this one. At first taste, it is your average teriyaki sauce but then there is an after taste. Not quite sure what the flavor is but the more I ate it, the more I realized I don't like the after taste. I assume the sauce is homemade and maybe the mixer went a little heavy on an ingredient. But I could be totally wrong. Overall I would eat here again. It was really good for the price. FYI: Not the dine in type of place. There are boxes everywhere.

We had to go to Kaiser nearby to pick up some medication while on our vacation. Due to the rainy weather, we really wanted some soup. The nurse highly recommended this place for us when we were waiting and searching on Yelp for something to eat afterwards. She even called ahead to make sure they were open till 9 pm on a Sunday. So there we ended up and it did not disappoint! We started with lumpia Shanghai, then we had Kare Kare, Pampano Sinigang, Sisig Fried Rice, and Pancit Palabok. Everything was incredibly delicious and the service was top notch. The chef Mum even came out to greet us. Thank you for the down home cooking. It was a welcome treat after a busy and cold day!

Teriyaki chicken combo with all rice and lumpia
    Steve ..

Was in the area and we decided to try this place. We ordered the fish and chips and the teriyaki combo with all rice. For the prices wasn't to bad. The fish and chip combo comes in a little red and white paper boat. Fish and chips were ok but rather small portion size IMO. The teriyaki chicken was okay, have had better in the area. The lumpia were pretty good but still not the best in the area. Will be back if we are in the area.

My husband initially went to go order our food but unfortunately this time he experienced Myla, the cashier, continuously talking over him while ordering. Although we've experienced her behavior before we would just brush it off. I received the dynamite fries and couldn't eat them because everything was soaked in unagi sauce which many may know it can be salty when your food is drenched in it. I then went to the counter politely apologizing for even complaining but would like to have the food remade with less unagi sauce. Instead of saying anything kind, Myla complained to the cooks about me complaining about my fries were too salty. She made jokes aloud while the cooks laughed. I was standing there the entire time patiently while she was tormenting me. Meanwhile, Myla was helping other customers with the upmost respect because at that point she noticed I recorded our interaction. The food was remade and not a word said when she handed it to me. My husband then went to ask for the cooks name and Myla's and while they're waiting he overheard them talking about my appearance and making fun of the interaction.
