This is a classic, no frills diner with amazing service and delicious food at a reasonable NYC price. I had hesitated to visit before because of the low yelp ratings, but this place truly deserves more stars. The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon, but we (a party of 2) were seated right away at a booth and were surprised at how clean and bright the place was. I ordered the Lumberjack Pancakes w/scrambled eggs and sausage, while my boyfriend ordered the 3 Eggs deluxe, which comes with ham, bacon, sausage, toast, and potatoes. When our food arrived, we were shocked at how PIPING HOT the food was and how cleanly the food was plated as well. The sausages weren't your scrawny, dry links you get at other mediocre diners--they were juicy with a crispy skin. My pancakes were also very fluffy and soft. The best part of our experience, however, was the service. While we were glancing at other customers' orders, a server caught our eye--noticing that we were low on coffee--and promptly refilled our cups and provided extra napkins. This occurred again later too when we were JUST sipping on the last drop of coffee when a different server walked by and refilled our coffee right when we needed it. Everyone was courteous and super attentive--I've never had a diner experience as good as this. I visited the Murray Hill Diner at 10/20. Quaint, clean with friendly staff. Turkey Club was good with crisp fries, a little coleslaw and a dill pickle. My mother had the pancakes which she noted were really good and served with plenty of bacon. Nice stop in NYC for breakfast or a quick bite. read more

Close to our hotel which offered only the standard "free breakfast" - and we did not want bagels or yogurt... The place was jumping on Sunday morning, but we snagged a seat upon walking in. The space is bright and welcoming and comfortable, and service was prompt and friendly. We ordered omelettes with potatoes, crisp bacon for me and coffee for both. The potatoes were "steamed" probably from being piled too high on the grill and could have used some seasoning. All else was aok. Bacon looked like it was compressed something, but not pig! Pancakes were at best Aunt Jemima quality. Classic old school diner in Murrey Hill/Midtown East. Its got booths and a small counter, all the usual diner dishes - breakfasts, sandwiches, lunch platters and Greek daily specials. Staff are friendly, service is swift without being rushed and when I went on a weekday lunchtime the place was bustling. I had a Chicken Souvlaki Platter and it was a generous plate of tasty food, it wasn't a gourmet meal but that's not what you come to a diner for, you come for a good solid plate of food and that is what this was. The salad was fresh, the fries were golden, and there were plentiful condiments. We were in the neighborhood looking for a place for lunch and stopped in here. It's an old school diner with an extensive menu. I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap with fries, coleslaw and a pickle with a cup of coffee. The wrap had a generous portion of chicken and greens and the fries were perfectly cooked. The coleslaw was pretty good too. The issue that kept me from giving this review four stars was, when I asked to be moved to a table with chairs, a 4 top (not the booth I was in, also a 4 top) I was told they were being saved for parties of 4. It was 3PM and the place was almost empty so I stayed in a cramped booth. I also had to ask for a refill on my coffee, TWICE, the waiter forgot so I had to remind him, not cool. Really good diner! The menu is pretty standard with normal things you'd find at this type of place. They also have a bunch of specialty sandwiches and breakfast items. The food is pretty good, nothing super special but it's not bad at all. The thing that's really great is the service. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. The service is QUICK - you can sit down, order food, and be eating within 5 minutes of walking in the door. Great spot for a quick bite to eat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Found this little jewel while strolling from our hotel looking for a diner for brunch. Great NYC diner atmosphere. Big menu. Prices are reasonable especially for NYC. We actually went two days in a row. Was not disappointed. Day 1: corned beef on rye. Decent but the meat was a bit fatty. Day 2: ham omelet. Bingo!!!! OK so I am a sucker for a good old fashioned diner. This place took me back to my childhood - such a fantastic diner with great staff. Unrelated to the food experience here, my boyfriend (bless his soul) will lose anything that isn't physically attached to him. We went to MHD after the gym one day, and he left his airpods in the booth. After a few days of tracing our steps, we realized this. So, we went back that Sunday for a brunch + in hopes of retrieving his airpods. They were SO amazing and had held onto them! They recognized us, gave them back, and reprimanded my boyfriend playfully (he also dropped 2 credit cards on the ground on his way out....which they picked up and brought to him as well LOL). In terms of the food - I just love it all. Ive had the matzo ball soup, the buffalo chicken wrap, the pancakes, the griddles, hasbrowns, etc. All great and high quality diner food. Diamond place on the Lexington ave. Tiny and old school. When we arrived to the place, the waiting line was outside the door. However, we were sit within 15 minutes. The service was incredible fast and professional. After we got our table, the owner brought complimentary berries for my son- it was sweet! I ordered Florentine omelette and San Diego omelette. I would def suggest to try San Diego omelette! It was yummy. They had a huge, super huge menu to choose from! I was impressed of their menu. The food was brought as fast as you would blink. I walk by Murray Hill Diner going to and from meetings just about every day, but today was the first time I actually stopped in to have a meal. Instant regret for all those other times I didn't stop in and got a $16 salad with two leaves of lettuce and an ounce of chicken instead. It always looks fairly busy, even at odd times of day - but you'll either be able to find a seat right away or have a very short wait, based on how fast our food came out today. Less than a minute after we sat down, we had water and coffee. A few minutes later, our breakfast orders were in. No more than 7 minutes later, various forms of eggs were placed in front of both of us, complete with breakfast potatoes, meats, and toast. Everything was excellent and so hot it was like they brought the actual flat top tableside. I can't remember the last time I went out for breakfast, much less a 9:03am breakfast on a weekday. It was inexpensive, efficient, portioned nicely, and comfortable - squishy booths for the win. The coffee never ended and even though our breakfast did, it won't be long before I'm back for another meal - with a 100% chance of more bottomless coffee. read more

My go to for lunch after a long day at work ... My favorite is the Club Sandwich Triple Decker on Rye bread. You get a lot Turkey on this sandwich. I like my bacon extra crispy Because who doesn't ? More and more classic diners and lunch counters are vanishing. I thought I was going to have to settle for a fake diner or some ultra healthy trendy food, but then I remembered the Murray Hill Diner. This has the feel of a real diner. The staff is super friendly. They kept calling me 'sweetie', but in a way that was endearing and didn't raise my man-hating feminist hackles. Everything is a little time worn, but very clean. The food comes fast. It's done exactly how I expect my diner food to be. The coffee is bottomless. So many diners have increased their prices and hipsterfied their menu to the point where they're indistinguishable from anywhere else, but the Murray Hill Diner has stayed true. They offer all of the standard diner classics, without adding quinoa and doubling the prices. Three lunch spots are sprouting up on every block with bowls of whatever diet you're into. This is the opposite of that. Someone else gave them one star for having an "old school feel" so clearly we have very different views of what a diner is supposed to be. If you want an old school feel, which is getting harder and harder to find in this corner of NYC, this is the place to go. read more

We always get the lumberjack option and the endless coffee when we're in town. There is always a crowd but they are very efficient so you don't have to wait too long. This is a below average diner, but its low prices make up for it. This place does not look as nice as most Manhattan diners that I have been to. There are only a few booth seats and it is very simple looking inside. It is not open 24 hours either. I came here and ordered a Fried Chicken dinner platter. I asked for a Clam Chowder with it. For some reason, the soup that was brought to me was a tomato vegetable soup with 3 tiny pieces of clam in it? I do not know if there was a mix up or if this is what they consider Clam Chowder. It tasted okay, so I just drank it without complaining. The Fried Chicken was actually very good. It ws not overly oily, the skin was very crispy and it had a lot of flavor and seasoning. They gave me a breast, thigh, drumstick and wing. The mashed potatoes were definitely instant mashed potatoes, which I expected for the price. It also came with two bread rolls, which were soft and not old. The meal overall was adequate and it was only $10 . Like I mentioned, a positive aspect of this place is its cheap prices. They are priced lower than most other Manhattan diners. Similar entrees are priced as much as $3-$4 less here. read more

Walking into this diner I felt transported back into time as the interior reminded me of growing up in New Jersey where Diners were almost sort of a religion and a place where you could grab anything to eat, day or night. And everyone had their favorites. I was hoping for this one to be a new favorite however, while the nostalgia was running high the pizza burger left a lot to be desired. I don't know if this is relevant, but I've walked by this place so many times and it has always looked and felt to me like it was straight out of Pulp Fiction. Sorry, I digress. I finally stopped by before a movie one evening and feeling the nostalgia felt compelled to order my childhood diner fav, pizza burger DELUXE (only in a diner). The fries were good but the burger patty itself was very dry. No amount of sauce was going to fix that. Stopped into the Murray Hill diner for a quick bite to eat. Food was decent diner food- what you'd expect from its appearance. Seems to be a spot favored by the local elders of the area. However, I found it a bit pricey for the type and quality of food you got- a stack of pancakes, bacon, and a bowl of soup added up to $25 with tip. Variety on the menu wasn't lacking- there's something for everyone here. Decently clean as well. Probably won't be back as I'm not from the area, but can see it being a decent staple if you frequent Murray Hill. read more
