This place is great! The food is definitely worth trying. My husband had their steak and I had their fried chicken sandwich. We both loved mine most but their steak was definitely high quality, charbroiled and lightly seasoned. The staff was very friendly and they were just happy to be there. The ambiance is definitely dive bar but the place has a nice charm. It does get super busy there and o suggest stopping by for lunch or an early dinner. I highly recommend it! read more

Spent the night in Big Bear and this might be the best hidden gem when it comes to steak. Browsed a few spots and glad I picked Murray's. Steak had a nice char, quality veggies and mashed potatoes, and two huge pieces of cheddar melted garlic toast. Perfect if you're looking for a quality meal in a no frills type environment. A new DJ recommended who knows customer service. Don't have a sign up list to sing if it will not be followed, if you will prioritize based on who you know letting them sing over and over, and let people buy their place in line. I support tipping but this lady did not even gave my friends a chance to sing, after ordering our food and drink and sitting there for 3 hours waiting. So greedy! I'm not sure why this place is rated so high. Maybe we weren't there on the right time, but this place was one of the few which was opened late. Upon arrival no one greeted us even though this place is tiny and we were standing right in the middle and staff was just walking around. After three minutes of awkwardly standing there one of the bartenders finally came up to check our IDs and JUST LEFT. Without saying anything. We sat down at extremely dirty table, floors were just covered in trash and food (I understand it was end of the day, but it takes 2 minutes to sweep). No one came up to us. Again. No menu, no greeting still. So we just left. I honestly don't know how this place is still open and people willing to spend their money in there. 1st time eating there after reading some of the reviews, so we thought we would give it a try. Good food and service and staff were on it.

Everyone recommended this place. It's kinda stinky inside but for the amount of traffic they had, the servers kept up and checked on everyone. The karaoke setup was cool. Unfortunately most people don't have a voice that's entertaining but the fact that they're singing at all is more entertaining. Have never been to Big Bear Lake, since I am from the San Francisco Bay Area. In town for a conference, staying at the Holiday Inn which is walking distance to the "Village "... Searched for "dive bars "... Murray's is the first one that came up... Had to give it a try!... Sunday night, the place was "packed "... Karaoke night!... Waited for a seat... One came available... Watching the food come out of the Kitchen... I was amazed at the "portions "... Decided on the Ribeye!... Unbelievable value!... Sides were amazing!... IMHO this was one of the best Steaks/ Ribeye's I have ever eaten at a restaurant!... Perfect medium rare. Went back a few more times during my stay!... Bummer no "swag" on my visit. Wish Murray's was closer!... Must visit when in Big Bear Lake. read more

Drive to BB on Friday night to hit the slopes Saturday. My friend and I were looking for a spot to grab a drink after checking in and settling in. She found this spot and it was PERFECT! Getting there: Located in the village, we walked from another bar that was charging a cover but it seemed pretty easy to get to by car as well. Experience: We came here to watch the Padres game after leaving Oktoberfest. Not that I am a Padres fan whatsoever, but one of gfs is a die hard fan and who am I to rob her watching them barely make it to the finals? Anyways, this bar was pretty small and when we got there it seemed like other people had the same idea of watching the Dodgers and Padres game. Luckily, we scored a seat at the bar next to one of the locals who was really friendly and bought us a few drinks. I was worried that the bathroom line would be backed up since its a smaller dive bar, but that didn't happen once all night. The crowd seemed to be very friendly all night. This is a little dive bar. That being said, this place is great and worth a stop when driving through town. We ordered the salmon on grilled vegetables and fish tacos. The salmon was a large slab of fish with fresh firm vegetables wonderful. Fish tacos were great two tortillas and full of cabbage and sauce. Hot food was hot, cold food was cold. We have stopped in here more than once since we started coming to Big Bear. I had the Tuna steak the salad under it is sauteed veggies with soy sauce it was a little salty for me, but the tuna was delicious and cooked perfect. My husband had the Russell burger it was huge and delicious. My son had the pulled pork sandwich and other lil guy had the wings. Needless to say everything was on par and such big portions we had to share. Our waitress was sweet. She and my small son were kidding with each other. The lighting is dim even in the day time. Not really kid friendly but the food and waitress made up for it. The kids left and we came back for karaoke. The same guy has been there for 7 years. His name is Russ too!
