Had a leak under my furnace and called around to get a quote. After paying a consult fee, I was able to get a diagnosis: A/C evaporator coil needed to be replaced. There company that gave me the diagnosis quoted me 2600 to replace it, quoting labor and cost - which seemed a little excessive. I called around some more asking for a quote for this service and everyone wanted to come by and charge a consulting fee to diagnose - something I'm not a big fan of. Reached out to Carmen and he was upfront about the cost and able to schedule something for a few days later. He even offered another contact to call in case I needed something sooner. He came out as scheduled at 7am and got the unit working. Now we have a functioning A/C right in time for the hot weekend. Found these guys through my home warranty company. After the last company had completely botched the job on my repair, causing the entire compressor to need to be replaced, this company came out, found a way to get a new compressor up to the roof of my condo without use of a crane(!), and my AC has run flawlessly since. I have had requests from other units who are looking at needing new compressors who did my work, as the piping and ductwork was redone to the highest standard they'd seen. This is my second review for Musial's. I cannot say enough good things about this business. The owner, Carmen, is beyond responsive. They installed new heating, A/C, duct work, etc a few years ago for us. The recent heat started an the A/C went out. I called Carmen not expecting him to remember us but he did. We came out and inspected our until and noticed the coil needed to be replaced. He contacted the mfg and fought them to cover the replacement part. They did and we only had to pay him for installation (very reasonable pricing). Two weeks later and again no cold air. He sent his guy back out and he cleaned the filters and noticed the circuit breaker was off. Problem fixed. Today the circuit breaker went off again and I texted Carmen to ask why this was happening. He was over in 15 minutes! He replaced a booster and. He led the breaker at no cost. In a day when good customer service seems next to impossible to find these guys go above and beyond for their customers. If you want responsive, good service at very fair prices, call Carmen/Musials. My 25 years old Rheem air conditioner was leaking water due to some issues with the drain line. I first filed a claim with First American Home Warranty in June 2016, and FAHW sent John from I Am Mechanical Air to fix my air conditioner. John came out twice but wasn't able to fix the issue. Then John claimed there was a paperwork issue with First American and thus couldn't come out to complete the job. I contacted First American again, and they sent Carmen Musial to complete the job. Carmen and his wife Frances work as a team. Frances handles administrative tasks, while Carmen handles the field work with a few of their staff. Carmen is very experienced and competent, and commands confidence on the subject matter. Carmen and his staff came out a few times, performed various attempts to fix the leaks. They cut and welded the copper drainage pipe inside the AC closet, then flushed with high pressured carbon dioxide air. That did not work. So they came out again, and cut and flushed the French drain outside my house. It still did not work. By then, it was end of October and weather was much cooler. Carmen said the air conditioner sweats a lot when the weather is cold. He asked me to file a continuation claim with FAHW, and that he would come out again next year when weather gets warm again in spring. Time flies, Bay Area weather got warmer in May 2017. I contacted Carmen multiple times but they did not return my phone calls or text messages. I also asked my assistant to help follow-up with appointments, but somehow no luck. By August, I was finally able to get through and spoke with Frances. Frances claimed that they have never received our calls or messages. In any case, she was able to setup an appointment for Carmen to visit in mid-August. Carmen came out as scheduled, and said the water leak is most likely due to a sunken segment of the pipe, which caused it to become an inadvertent p-trap. It would happen when the pipe fasteners became loose or broken due to aging. He said the only way to fix it would be opening up the dry wall everywhere, and searched for the sunken segment of the piping. The other two options were pulling a new drain line, or installing a pump at the air conditioner and pump the condensation water out through the attic. Carmen said he would check with FAHW and let us know if insurance would cover the opening of the dry wall, installing a new pipe or a new pump. A week had gone by and no words from Carmen. When I called him, he said his wife was still checking with insurance. He said he would call me back the following week for an answer. Another week lapsed and no calls from Carmen. I called him again, and he said FAHW still had not provide a clear response. I decided to call FAHW myself, and immediately got the "regrets" from FAHW. I called Carmen to discuss, and we agreed that opening up dry wall or installing new pipe were not practical. He offered me a good price to install a pump, and said he would come out the following week to install it for me. This time I didn't wait too long, especially feeling the record breaking heat in SF Bay Area, and called Frances immediately after the Labor Day holiday. Frances said they have no records of my appointment, and Carmen did not have any openings that week. Then later that day, Frances called me and said someone had canceled on Friday, and was able to fit me in between 8:30-9:30am PDT. Carmen showed up at my home at 10am PDT on September 8, 2017, and quickly went to work. He crawled into the attic to install the pump piping. He spotted rodent droppings and a dried dead rat, and offered me some rodent proofing and clean-up advice. By noon, the job was finally complete and what a big relief! Overall, I would highly recommend Carmen and his team - 5 stars. However, they are very busy with lots of projects, and thus making communications and scheduling difficult, especially if insurance is involved. My case took over a year to complete, and that's my reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5. I would advise those of you interested in working with Musial's to be proactive in calling and confirming until the work is completely finished. read more

I came across Musial's through our home warranty company, and could not have been more pleased with the service I received. My initial call with Francis was great, and she was very accommodating to my schedule, and worked with me to schedule the appointment at a time that was convenient for ME. We had to get our entire unit replaced, so Musial's had to order the unit, and kept us informed throughout the entire process, which was great. I'm busy enough, and that was one less thing to have to worry about. Another appointment was made to install the new unit, and repairman arrived right on time, and was very nice and courteous. Very honest and professional service. My A/C stopped working and I got set-up with them through my warranty company. It turned out to be very simple issue. I called Musial's to take a look at my central A/C compressor and cooling coil. During a heat wave, we thought that it lost its refrigerant and was not producing enough cold air. He came over promptly at the start of the two hour appointment window and checked the compressor, motor, cooling coil, and condenser. After giving the system a overall health check and finding nothing wrong, I appreciate the fact that he gave us some tips on getting the best cooling performance from the system. Even though he did spend a little time checking the system, he did not charge me the minimum service fee. I would call them again if I needed additional service. read more

We bought a very old house with a very old furnace. We had 3 or 4 HVAC companies come out and take a look. Carmen came out promptly and on two separate visits to assess the situation. He was the only one who said that he could replace the furnace and put in all new ducting within the existing structure of the house, everyone else insisted we needed to to drop the ceiling in the hallway to route the ducting. In addition, his bid was the cheapest. So we had him do the job, and he was friendly, it was done in 4 days and it passed inspection no problem. I have always been a believer of quality customer service and I pay it forward by providing feedback that will help others make the best decision. I had a puzzling, alarming experience with a technician of #FirstAmericanhomewarranty. It became a he said she said story. This guy (Carmen) was late, did not take off his shoes upon request, spent more time asking me about my property, said he will be back upon receipt of needed supplies, company never called back and responded only upon my request of update on supplies, and two weeks later went back to my property and asked for the code since the property is vacant. Claim was eventually denied initially from 3 spoken reasons. What is creepy? The technician claims he only went to the property once! #Firstamericsnhomewarranty listened but did not believe me when I said the technician had been there. #firstamericanhomewarranty does not have any mechanism to verify if and how many times a dispatched technician had gone to a property. It still puzzles me why that technician would do such a lie. This should be a wake up call to home warranty companies to screen their technicians well and more importantly to create a system that would identify when and how many times a technician paid visit to the property. This process improvement will protect the property, owner to any harm, physically or not and financial loss, and ultimately will protect the real estate transaction. I am thankful for those who had helped. But #firstamericanhomewarranty was just referred to me by my realtor, and they certainly did not do justice in this referral. read more

We were so relieved by the level of service given by Musial's, and felt luck we got hooked up with them. They were always on time and available to answer questions. At first meeting, I felt comfortable with them. They came in, took a look at our HVAC system, and gave us an honest assessment, as well as a reasonable quote. The pushed the home warranty company to complete the approval in a timely manner to make sure the work could be done before I had to go back to school (I am a teacher). So not only do they care about the work, they care about working for you. I like that it is a family business as well. The work was done quickly, efficiently, and well. They answered questions, let me know the process and what to expect, and even did a walk around the perimeter to check cleanliness of the job site. When I went to pay, I expected it to be higher than the estimate, since things come up, but he said "why would you ever pay more than an estimate?" That blew me away. First phone call from Musial's was first thing after logging problem with warranty company but was dropping off kids so asked for call back in an hour, the call back was made in an hour. My son in Fremont,Ca used Musial's to have a new furnace and vents replaced. Carmen, the owner, came on a Sunday to give an estimate. That was very impressive! The following week he and his helper, Adrian, arrived and installed the furnace. There were no problems. I cannot say enough about how responsible and conscientious Carmen is. Our Home Insurance company sent Carmen from Musials over when our heater died on the coldest day of the year in November. We had been thinking about replacing the system for a few years and had already received a few quotes from other vendors. I'm usually not impressed with the providers that home insurance companies send out but Carmen was amazing. We were very close to buying a new system with another vendor we had been working with but Carmen's honesty, attention to detail and no BS demeanor won us over - that and his quote was significantly lower than the other vendors (this would usually be a red flag but we called Carmen's references for similar jobs and they were all glowing.). We went with Carmen, he coordinated asbestos removal, installed a new high efficiency heater in a new location, replaced most of the duct work, installed a tankless water system, moved our AC to a new location and installed a new Nest thermostat. Everything worked perfectly, his crew was polite and honest and the job was done in 5 days. I've since called him a few times to adjust dampers and tweak settings and he was happy to send someone out FOC. All is all, it was a great experience and I highly recommend working with him. As a side note, he does run a small shop and when he's busy it can take a little longer for him to get back with you, but his integrity and good workmanship is worth the minor inconvenience. read more

Furnace went out on New Years weekend. It was very difficult to get a hold of anybody saturday night and sunday. So I waited until monday morning to call anybody. I called Musial's Heating & Air at 7am and he was available to come in a few hours to inspected the furnace. Within 30min of his arrival, he said it was the controller board. "I have to order it and pick it up, give me a day." So, on tuesday afternoon he came by and installed it. Again, within 30min, he was done. No after sales support- I was in a bind last summer and needed to replace the a/c compressor right away, and a contractor friend of mine recommended Carmen Musials, and sure enough he came the next day and installed a new compressor right away- so far so good. However I called several times since then ( a year ago) to have service done and to install some dampers etc, and NO RESPONSE, which to me is the worst thing when a contractor who has done work for you does not return calls.
