The family and I had lunch at Mustards Grill on Wednesday. This was probably my fourth or fifth time experiencing Mustards. I first experienced Mustards Grill in 2003. The restaurant was written up in Wine Spectator's annual wine country issue. I was visiting Napa with family at the time and we ended up dining at Mustards Grill three times over the four days of our visit. Now on to my review... The family and I had a reservation for 12:30. Mustards menu is full of delectable delights. Their wine list is probably the largest and most extensive I've seen. A full bar is also offered. For an appetizer, we ordered the onion rings with housemade tomato-apple ketchup. The onion rings are A MUST have. A beautiful flavorful pile of onions. Very easy to pick up and eat. We also ordered the warm honey cornbread. It was incredible. The Mrs. and kiddo shared the cheeseburger with fries. Adam, our incredible waiter, made sure the burger was cut in half. Each half was on its own plate with its own pile of fries. It was cooked to perfection. I order the Mongolian Pork Chop which is one of the dishes Mustards Grill is known for. The pork chop is served with mashed potatoes and sweet and sour red cabbage topped with housemade mustard. This is another dish that is A MUST if your dining at Mustards. I can guarantee you the it has a flavor profile that is incredible that cannot be duplicated. Believe me, even with the Mustards Grill cookbook, you can't do it. The service at Mustards is impeccable. Everyone from the hostess to the bartender and beyond are on top of things. There was a computer glitch that forced staff to manually write down orders and process credit cards payments. It wasn't until we paid our bill that Adam informed us of the issue. Staff was so calm that it appeared nothing was wrong. Mustards Grill is open for lunch and dinner, but I recommend going there for lunch. It's the perfect place to have a break from a day of wine tasting. read more

The last time I was at this restaurant was over 10 years ago and was hesitant to go again, but I'm glad I did because it was just as wonderful as my first experience. Whatever dish you order is well made with quality ingredients. Note that their famous lemon pie is no longer an individual tart and now a slice, but was still just as delicious. Service and ambience are just as good as the food. This restaurant aligns with the quality of wine that could be found in the Napa region. If you've never been, I recommend a visit, forgo any restaurant in downtown Napa. read more

Enjoyed our lunch at Mustards Grill! We went during the holiday season and the restaurant was crowded but still very charming. Despite every table and the bar being full, our service was fantastic. The gal taking our order had worked there for over 20 years - she was kind, personable, helpful in our selections, and quick to help us. We've been here before twice, brought my wife here for her birthday today we just left. I give it zero out of five. Halibut was super salty and super dry, potatoes was not even cooked, $160 for the two of us. Not happy with the food at all. They had a booth at Bottlerock music festival in Napa this year and I was not impressed. I chose to eat there based on decent reviews online for the restaurant. I got fish tacos and they were super bland. Not breaded fish, just sort of soggy, little to no seasoning. Serving size was three street taco sized tacos. I think it was $18. Elevated comfort food. That's how I would characterize our meal at Mustards. Table bread and butter: Delicious. I particularly liked how there was a separate bowl of salt. It was a unique presentation and fun to add salt to the butter for a nice texture. I also highly recommend the corn tamales with avocado and tomatillo salsa. Yum. The meatloaf was huge and very flavorful, but the showstopper for me was the portion of pillowy soft mashed potatoes that came with it. Creamy, buttery and very addicting. I kept eating the mashed potatoes even though I was stuffed already. My husband ordered the marinated rabbit, which he loved. We also shared a side of the honey corn bread. We had reservations for four people and arrived a little early. We were seated right away at a nice table in the back. Nicole was our sever and she was very efficient and knowledgeable. She had the utmost patience and grace with us, as we took forever to order. Everything sounded amazing. I ordered a Mai Tai and my husband ordered a glass of Cab. Both drinks were great! What can I say, this place has been around for so long for a reason! This is my go to Place and I drive up there from the Citi every chance I get. I chose this for my birthday gift and there were six of us going up there. I purchased a wonderful cookbook, the original, and everyone in my party signed it for me. The chefs came over to the table to say happy birthday, we had mimosas, we pretty much almost had everything on the menu and shared everything. HOME run on absolutely everything. The cornbread is to die for, the pork chop, oh my gosh. I still have dreams about it. The onion strings are crazy delicious. We had the rabbit, some duck, we had salads, mimosas and I think it was a seafood stew of some sort. Can't really remember as I did not taste that. I was so stuffed, I got everything my little Hart desired that day. We enjoyed going to Napa for its wine and dining experiences. Mustard Grill is one of its iconic restaurants, but we thought the food was just okay and the menu uninspiring. The onion ring was excellent: very thinly sliced and lightly battered before fried to perfection. The Ahi sandwich was just okay, the tuna lacked the smokey grilled flavor, the bread was relatively stale. If you ever had a Rutherford Grill french dip or an Auberge burger you will appreciate what a good sandwich bread should be like. Chicken salad was just okay, a few pieces of stale chicken that lacked any smokey flavors, mixed with some very average looking lettuce and a few strand of noodles. I felt like I was eating a chicken lo mein with inverse ratio of noodles and lettuce. The plate for the bread and butter was worn and stained and probably needs to be tossed. The servers were very attentive and courteous so no problems there. We also like the outdoor dining set up, though the bright red tarpaulin cover gave a tinge of red glow on the guests and on the food. Price wise Mustard Grill is in line with similar establishments in the area. Overall we thought Mustard Grill was just okay, the menu was a bit mundane and the food was just so so. read more

The service was really good at this relaxed spot north of the main drag in Yountville. It was perfect for lunch on a weekend afternoon (with a reservation) before we went wine tasting. The food came out incredibly fast. I started with the smooth, creamy tortilla soup special and had my main course delivered before I could finish the soup. I loved the pork chop - it was grilled just right and had a delicious house-made mustard that tasted like a mix of honey mustard and Dijon. My wife had the seafood tostada, which she loved, but the person at the table next to us had a slightly better plating of it (more assembled greens on top, creamy herb sauce on top instead of buried underneath). Since I love figs I couldn't pass up the drink special which was a fig old fashioned with a couple of muddled figs at the bottom of the glass. For dessert we shared the famous lemon-lime tart. I'm glad we only ordered one dessert because it was more than enough for the two of us, tart and sweet as expected, but with a creamy, sugary meringue mountain on top! This was a highly recommended restaurant in Napa, so we had to try it out. I called in to make reservations after seeing there were no openings on the reservations site. It's not a huge place, and social distancing was very limited for tables and guest. The entire staff was wearing mask. I looked through the many pictures, and after seeing multiple pictures of the Mongolian pork chops, I had to get it. The pictures looked amazing. My GF ordered the lobster salad. The pork chops were out of this world! I've never had pork chops that were better tbh. They were cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and tasted out of this world. It wasn't dry, super tender. The mustard it came with complemented the meat very well. It came with mash on the side and pickled veggies. AMAZING dish, must try in my opinion. I'm going to order it again next time. The lobster salad was good as well, lots of lobster and super fresh. Service was good. It was busy, but we got our waters, bread, wine and food pretty quick. Doing the happy dance after visiting Mustards Grill. I had past the restaurant many times and we were finally able to make it in before going to a wine tasting. Kind of a smaller restaurant so I would recommend reservations. It got busy fast. We were sat right away and I started looking at the wine menu... very large wine menu. 2 big pages of wines to choose from and some of the wines offer half bottles which was perfect for us being we were heading to a tasting afterwards. For lunch I had already had my mind set on the adult grilled cheese and my husband had the fish tostada. Both of us enjoyed our lunch. The adult grilled cheese is pretty rich and I think adding apple to it would make it perfect. We also had the housemate potato chips with their yummy blue cheese dip. The table next to is got onion rings . They were like shoestring onions rings and I really feel like I missed out not ordering them. We went here for lunch before doing some wine tastings. I really like this restaurant, the food is always above the standard, and service was great. A little more in the upscale menu but the food is worth it! They have plenty of wines to choose from, the bread is very fresh. We got a sandwich, steak and some salmon. But my favorite was our Calamari appetizer - the squid was so tender + the sauce had a bit of curry which perfectly matched the crispiness of the seafood. I was in Napa for the day with some friends and didn't have any expectations for this place since I didn't plan the itinerary but wow am I glad to have eaten here! I was pleasantly surprised with everything that I tried. Ordered the wild mushroom risotto which was one of the specials of the day and it was daaaaaalicious!!
