Wife and I were in the area one morning. We saw this restaurant and decided to try it. The restaurant was not too crowded and was seated right away. The menu was simple yet had many offerings. Service was excellent and attentive. The ambiance was very American diner feel, and casual. Loaded Crispy Potato Breakfast - 5/5: this started with a base of crispy potatoes layered with scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, bacon and jalapeños topped with a slightly spicy orange sauce. This looked like it was a small portion, but it was quite filling. Would definitely order this again. Churro French Toast sticks - 5/5: These were crispy, brioche sticks stacked high and served with maple syrup. Very good if you are craving to fill that morning sweet tooth. Definitely tasted like churros. These stayed crispy throughout our meal. Wife would definitely order this again. She ordered this with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon as well. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and appreciated the relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend this place for a solid breakfast spot. read more

My husband and I are breakfast people and My Cafe is one of our go tos for standard breakfast diner foods. My husband always gets one of their french toasts and I usually go for an eggs benny. This time I wanted to try something new so I got the chicken fried steak eggs benedict. The chicken fried steak was very crispy and the gravy was good-it complimented the buttery, flakey, biscuit really well. The crispy breakfast potatoes is also yummy! I have tried stuff off the lunch menu but it's honestly a bit boring. *My favorite benedict so far has been the striploin benedict, I super recommend this! The NY steak is perfectly cooked and seasoned and really surpassed my expectations for a breakfast diner steak. read more

My Cafe is the sister/brother or cousin of Country Way. Similar items on the menu and portions are pretty decent. My brother invited me mum and yours truly. The food is good can't complain. We were here on a Sunday morning and the food prep time was a bit slow. I notice other people that arrived later order after we did received their food before us. I don't know what the cooks were doing to mess up the orders in the order they come in. Two of the servers were very forgetful. We asked for water and coke twice and they never brought it to our table. We had to ask a third time and they finally brought it. I also noticed one of the servers running his fingers through his hair and scratching his head then reaching for a clean glass to pour water then took it to one of the tables. That is so unsanitary. I was glad he wasn't our sever. The menus were sticky which I'm sure don't get disinfected at all. How many red flags do yall think go up in the kitchen? l wonder if My Cafe would pass a health inspection. read more

My server, Erica, was kind, and when I was charged for Jalapeños that I did not receive, she brought me some for my to go BLT meal. Which was fine. The food was tasty, with no complaints on that, but could have a bit more heat. I will eat my BLT later and edit my comment if needed. The place is a staple in Newark, and ownership changed from when i first moved here 2017. The place is quaint and clean, which matters. However, i do miss the pies and high-end drinks they use to have (prior owners) and the best milkshakes and fried chicken, which folks use to come far for that and the family environment. I miss seeing folks who used to come on Sundays after church, and we all knew each other and would chat it up. I'm not saying these folks aren't kind they are for sure its just different. My boyfriend and I came for dinner last night during happy hour which is from 2pm-6pm. They had a large selection of appetizers and also have daily specials. It's a bit different where you order first & then pick your seat. We had ordered: steak quesadilla, onion rings, potato skins, & Philly cheesesteak sliders. We were actually full from all of this and weren't expecting to get full portions. Everything was delicious but I really enjoyed the onion rings, potato skins & steak quesadilla. The onion rings were were crispy and not crumby. They were perfect with the ranch! The quesadillas were definitely worth the price! The portion was big and they even put avocados in it! The loaded potato skins were bite sized and was super cheesy topped with bacon. The Philly cheesesteak sliders were LOADED with meat. Def a must for you Philly cheesesteak lovers. Decent cafe with some good Benedicts. Otherwise, just your run of the mill diner cafe. The food is okay. A little on the pricey end for the portions you get. There are other brunch places that are more generous and quite frankly have more flavorful dishes. Perhaps we ordered items that weren't within their expertise (I'd argue that if you aren't good at it, don't serve it) but our experience gives us little reason to rave about this place and come back to try other items. NY steak omelet was small and the eggs were just okay. It felt a bit flat. The dish itself was just not too cohesive; everything came apart and it was just difficult to get a bite that incorporated everything. Bell peppers and onions just didn't gel well with the cheese and eggs. They do fill you up on their potatoes though which were seasoned well. The other dishes were just as unremarkable. Benedict's looked good and seemed like they were done well. Of course, there are better places out there. They have mostly small tables for 2-4 and some big tables so if you have a party of 6-8, you should fit but you might want to come early. Although, the place didn't look too busy despite being Sunday brunch. And that's what ground my gears. Despite it being not exceptionally busy and pretty well staffed, they were not attentive at all to coffee refills. First refill, I had to wait a good 10 minutes before I was offered more. The second refill, I had to go up to counter to get the refill initiated. Fortunately, they did provide a side of milk when requested for the coffee and were pretty friendly throughout the whole service. They just could have done a few more basic diner-friendly rounds. They have a couple TVs in the back and the noise level is just about average. It's a relatively small place but the layout seems to work out well for this location. Overall, not a place I'd seek out but if you're looking to try a new place and are around the area, why not come and try? You might actually find something you'd like (they have a few sweet items including waffles, pancakes, and crepes). Just don't expect anything exceptional. read more

I like this cafe since their food is portioned right and they provide good service. While their pancakes are on the dry side, their omelettes, which we always get, are prepared right. We always come here for breakfast and the ambience is always chill, no regular crowds congregating talking about politics like you see at Dino's.
