I just started taking my puppy here and he seems to love it. Some workers are better than others and play with the pups more throughout the day. I think they are a bit of sticklers on charging for everything (off-feeding schedule) and rather expensive in comparison to others, but overall still worth the increased prices. Puppy cam is a WIN. I'm so happy to have finally found a great dog groomer in Pasadena! The staff is enthusiastic and cheerful when you call and when you walk into the store (that really makes a difference). They also spend a lot of time with the dogs and makes sure that everything is done correctly. My babies, Lou and Angel, looked clean and refreshed after their grooming session. We were told that Lou didn't like the dryer so they had to dry him using a different technique that took a bit longer ... he's just a big baby :) A few days later, we received a Thank You card in the mail with a handwritten note and pictures of both doggies during their grooming session! I found this place through Yelp. I decided to give it a try for my dog for grooming not long ago. My dog is a maltese and she gets intimated easily. But I'm very happy with the service there. Employees are friendly and they did good job on my dog's grooming. When I picked her up I realized she wasn't asking as scared as other places. Grooming was exactly what I asked for. I'll definitely bring my dog back again here :) The only thing is just the parking lot there might get a little hard to find a spot sometimes since there's other commercial businesses inside the plaza. I'm very dissapointed about this place, took my beloved dog for his monthly groom, then after all done and it's time to pick up my dog and then drove home, later on I found some traces of BLOOD on the sofa, carpet, myself, also in the car, turned out that the blood came from one of my dog nail, called "my pet garden" and they admit that they cut one of the nail too short, and explain that it happened sometimes, they don't even apologize or say sorry that they did that, and the worse part that they didn't even tell me that they cut one of the nail too short and cause it to bleed when I pick up my dog from their place, for that reason, I will never come back to this place again nor recommend this place to any dog owner read more

The dog grooming service is not as good as other people post here. My dog has to stay at least five hours or more, locked in a small crate . And when you call them, they usually say...it will be finished in 15 minutes, but when I got there, my dog didn't even got her haircut. The manager is not nice or courteous. When my dog got two razor cuts on her belly and I called them the next day, she didn't say sorry or anything and just asked me to bring my dog there. Too cocky to apologize on many occasions (late service, messed up appointments, etc.) The last three grooming experiences have been far below acceptable level and I am not coming back anymore. I so want to give this place a 5 star review but there are a couple of reasons why i'm hesitant to say this place is "as good as it gets". We took our 2 dogs in recently to be boarded for 10 days. We've had them in doggy day care for one day prior and the dogs LOVED it! We were excited that our dogs had a great time there and the staff is very kind and they seem to know a lot about dog behavior. They keep the play area very clean and provide a little bed with toys for the doggies. I love that they'll have an employee in with the dogs to play with them and keep the dogs company for a while. They take the dogs out for walks and they allow you to bring your dog's own food and blankets/beds from home which is great because our dog needs special food and gets cold easily. I love that they have a webcam so you can watch your dogs from home or wherever you're at to check in on them :) Overall it's a great place but here's where it's missing my 2 stars: When we would look in on the webcam, one of the male employees was in there with the dogs. He didn't interact with the dogs much at all, and at times I would see him on his phone. I felt so sad because some of the dogs were looking up at him by his feet pretty much hoping to be petted but he just stood there on his phone and ignored the dogs. There's a girl that goes in there that's absolutely great with the dogs! she holds them, sits on the bed with them and pets them. The guy i saw only hold 1 dog once and we checked on the dogs everyday on the webcam. When we took our dogs home, i noticed that both of the dogs have watery eyes and discharge coming out of their eyes. At first we thought it could be allergies but then one of my dogs has been scratching like crazy to the point where he scratched himself raw in some places. I hope they didn't catch something while they were there, they weren't around any other dogs since we picked them up and we noticed the symptoms the day we brought them home. we'll be taking them to the vet very soon. If the vet tells me they caught it from another dog then I'll be in contact with MPG. read more

Took my dog here for the first time and they did a lovely job on his grooming! They accommodated all my requests. This place has friendly staff and is a family owned business. They also have lots of options --treats, toys, bathing supply, harnesses, leashes, bedding, and they offer day care/boarding. Would highly recommend! read more

They advertise a 50% off for 1st time client special. I brought my 14 lb dog there- got a wash and a muzzle trim, not even a cut- and they charged $45. So that means their rate to groom a 14 lb - well cared for, I might add- dog is $90? It feels like false advertising or they should be offering a dog spa for that price. My next beef is this: my dog has wonderfully charming long eye lashes. The groomer trimmed them 1/2 off. I wasn't expecting it. I have had another groomer ask about them because they're so unique; this groomer didn't bother to check and trimmed them 1/2 off. They were in great shape and there was no need. It was a drastic look change and I would have appreciated if they'd checked. If you're considering using them because of this advertised special: I wouldn't. Delayed review but definitely due. Our Shih Tzu's preferred groomer was fully booked and he desperately needed a cut and wash. I decided to go with My Pet Garden instead of others bc of the reviews here on Yelp... and boy were we disappointed. Customer Service is definitely a plus here as everyone is extremely friendly, which is why they even get a star... but it really doesn't justify the price for grooming and quality. Grooming prices are MUCH higher than we've seen. I was quoted $55 for the Shih Tzu; highest we ever paid was $45. I was able to use the Yelp discount which was a wash because I was talked into buying the extra teeth brushing services - the owner made said "you're getting the discount so you should add the service"; only to be rung up and told by the cashier that the extra service does not qualify. When I turned to the owner behind the counter he answered "I only sweep the floors" and some other nonsensical jokes. When I picked up my Shih Tzu, he was shedding all over the place - only time I've had this experience... all the loose hair from his shave ended up getting all over me and my car sear. The two groomers told me they also have Shih Tzus... which is why I don't understand the lack of grooming quality. I asked to have his the fur on his paws the same length as his coat (#7, they said) but after his coat grew out a little the coat on his paws were much longer and he looked like he had boots with the furs! His tail was matted after his visit here, his ears got frizzy which was ridiculous and he had random whiskers that were longer than the coat around his face - TERRIBLE! To add to the horrible grooming, his fur was shaved only on one side of his nose ... so when his fur grew out, he looked like he tried to shave but didn't finish the job. Not sure how you can shave only one side of a dog's face. I obviously won't be coming back here considering I drove in all the way from Downtown LA. read more

Great customer service and stuff is very friendly. This is our first time in this store!! But I'm disappointed on my dog bruno's grooming. He is a 2 years old, shihtzu. I had him shaved because the groomers said that he has a lot of knots and tangles. However, after we picked him up from the groomers. He constantly itching non stop. And he had few red itchy spots on his body more like it is getting worst. I'm about to bring my dog to vet and have that red spots check... I suggest that you should sanitize your grooming tools really well. I had him shaved last year and he never had any red spots or itchyness. Not coming back to this store!!! We come here to get our dog groomed. The first time they offer a pretty good discount, so we thought we'd try it. We typically ask groomers to shave our dog down evenly across his body (this means face and tail). About 99% of the time, they leave his face super shaggy and his tail looking like they did nothing with it. Here, they take your specifications and run with it. I was so happy after I saw our dog get groomed and he's never looked better! This place is definitely my go-to now even if they are slightly more pricey than we've been used to. read more

This place has amazing customer service. I don't think anyone at all has bad intentions, nor do they wish to harm your pet. That being said, I took my cat in to get groomed a few weeks ago here, which I know is a tough situation on it's own. I was excited to use the coupon and because of all the great reviews. Took her in on a Tuesday morning at around 10 am. They told me it would be at most, 5 hours. So when 3pm rolls around and I didn't get a call, I called in. They said she was still drying, and if would be another hour to an hour and a half. That seemed long, but okay. I get it. She's air drying. 4pm, no call. Finally at 4:30, I called back. Apparently they wrote my number down wrong, because they tried to call and got someone else. Okay. Whatever. Go in to pick her up, and they tell me that she was difficult (which I apologized for profusely), and that they could only cut half her hair. They also mentioned they didn't want to push it, because she was stressing out. I was shocked, but I understood at the same time. Grooming cats is super tough. They said to bring her back and they'd finish the cut next week. At this point, I had only seen her in her kennel, so I wasn't able to see the whole haircut. I also paid the full amount at the time, despite half a haircut and almost 7 hours of being there. Took her home and I was really shocked. Not only did they only shave half of her, they left a bunch of big matted butt fur pieces hanging off her legs. The fur that hadn't been cut was coming off in clumps. And she and her kennel both smelled strongly like pee, because she peed on herself and her kennel at some point. The poor thing was terrified and scared as all hell too. I had to trim off the excess hanging fur, re-wash her to get the pee smell out, and at that point, I still was feeling okay about the groomer. Again. I get it. It sucks that you couldn't do it properly and that I had to re-groom her, but I'm understanding. My cat wouldn't get in the kennel next week for me to take her. I called in, let them know she was freaked, and that I'd make arrangements to bring her in later. The worst part is this. After a week, my INDOOR ONLY cat started getting runny eye discharge and she started hacking constantly, like she had a hairball, but with nothing coming up. She was also sneezing and she had a low appetite. I was concerned and took her to the vet. Apparently, she has an upper respiratory infection. This happens from cats coming in contact with other infected cats/equipment that's not sterilized properly. That's a direct quote from my vet. As I only have one cat, and she doesn't go outside to come in contact with other cats, the only other outside exposure she had was at My Pet Garden. This is not an exaggeration. My cat is literally indoor only. The most exposure she gets to outside is peering out the windows. That's the part that bums me out a lot. I really wanted to like and recommend this place. But when you can't properly groom cats, and then also send my cat home sick, then that's a huge problem. The fact that I had to pay for an additional vet visit makes me wish I'd just dealt with the fur and not had to have exposed my cat to a dirty groomer. This place might be a really great dog grooming place. The reviews are excellent there, and it seemed like their services are much better equipped for dogs. I couldn't ever recommend anyone to take their cat there though. Having a sick cat is awful, and knowing that she got it from a grooming salon makes me question their practices. read more

My dog is for some reason, extremely traumatized whenever she has to get any type of grooming done. Nails, trim, you name it. She is a rescue, so maybe she had a severely negative experience sometime in her past...? :( In any case, this lovely place trimmed her face, nails, and butt for only $20! Had to find a new groomer because my go to one just closed shop and didn't say anything... so I searched on yelp and decided with my pet garden... First off when you walk in they make you feel welcome.. they also welcomed my baby as well... the groomer came out to consult and they listened to what I wanted... they asked about any concerns and any dislikes Rocco might have .... after seeing that Rocco didn't have a problem at this groomer I left him... When I picked him up he looked exactly what I was going for... I had to go with a summer cut since he just had surgery and his leg was shaved off and I wanted his hair to grow back evenly... One difference I did notice when we got home is that before when Rocco would come home from the groomers he would be upset... I think they used to trim his nails real short because this time he came home ate and fell asleep... I believe this will be our go to spot from now on... :) read more

Took my old, fat and stinky cat, Coco, here for a bath a few days ago. I was a little nervous that she would be difficult because I haven't given her a water bath in years and she can get mean to strangers. The workers said she was actually really good! Coco loved it! She was so calm and relaxed on the way home. She smelled like blueberries and they even tied a cute bandana around her neck. I'm seriously so surprised at any review under 5 stars for this place! My Pet Garden is hands down the best pet store and grooming facility in Pasadena. I have been bringing my 4 dogs there for over 8 years and am never anything but happy! I have an incredibly difficult dog named Beenz who I take there to be groomed. Catty does an amazing job and tolerates his insane personality and tendency to... bite... people. He is always happy and clean when I pick him up. I also love how they work with a rescue group and allow them to bring their rescue animals there to be socialized with the public. They also work with the Humane Society and let adoptable cats be housed there too! For anyone who mentions the smell there, the only time I ever notice anything is when one of their rescue puppies has just gone poop! Poop happens, and they clean it up as soon as humanly possible. After so many years coming here, there is also no one I trust more with my dogs nutrition that Christina. Christina is always super eager to help, recommends amazing products , and works with me to find solutions for very picky dogs. Most recently she recommended an amazing CBD/ joint pill for aforementioned Beenz, and we were able to stop his daily pain pills for joint pain. My Pet Garden is my neighborhood pet store, so I really try to support it whenever my mini schnauzer needs a new toy or treat. They aren't a huge store, and don't have a vast selection, but what they do have are (what appear to be) carefully selected products that you can't necessarily find at petsmart or petco. And the staff is really friendly and helpful, and best of all, they truly love animals and it shows. I just got my dog groomed there, and I am really happy with her new 'do. As a mom of two pups, and a dog groomer, I find myself stopping in any pet store possible to see if there are any new products and overall just how the place is. Its a very friendly atmosphere, staff is helpful and pretty informative of their products. The products themselves are mostly highly rated with a few questionable items (I feed semi raw, and do lots of research so food and treats are kinda my thing) overall this place is a great shop to stop by and pick up some high quality dog food like Orijen, and a good chew like Earth Animal No Hide chews. Grooming is a good average. (i havent taken my dog here to groom, that would be silly if i couldnt groom my own dog as a groomer, lol but the dogs i saw that did get groom were a nice standard pet cut) They really seem to care, and thats what matters, not how perfect the cut is. read more

When I first adopted my dog (a year ago), I looked high and low for a good groomer for my dog. Thanks to yelp, I found My Pet Garden. My dog and I couldn't be any happier. What's great about My Pet Garden is that they really listen to you regarding what you want. I told the lady at the register that I just wanted a basic trim. My dog has naturally long hair, especially around her torso and her bottom area. Being a first time dog owner, I was pretty apprehensive at first, because I didn't want to get my dog back unrecognizable. But the workers here really assured me that I had nothing to worry about. I left her there and they said it could take up to 2-3 hours to complete everything; the grooming service comprised of a bath, brush, ear cleaning, nail trim, feet-sanitary trim, anal expression, and hair cut). After about 2 hours, I was given a call to pick up my girl. Let me tell you that I was so happy and excited to see my dog clean and so pretty. I was able to recognize her still and they made a clean and even cut all around. Everything they advertised for a grooming/haircut was completed. To make it even better, about a week later I received a thank you letter in the mail with a picture of my groomed dog. SUPER sweet and was definitely the icing on the cake. Not only does My Pet Garden include grooming services, but even non-anesthetic teeth cleaning. When I first adopted my dog, my dog's teeth were horribly dirty. After doing some research, I knew I didn't want to put my dog under anesthesia to get her teeth clean. Compared to other places, My Pet Garden's prices for non-anesthetic teeth cleaning, was affordable (120$). It took less than an hour for Sofia/Sophia to clean my dog's teeth and the results were amazing. I was shocked at how white and clean the teeth were. Another important note is that the person who does non-anesthetic cleaning comes only certain times a month. So you have to reserve an appointment in advance. I also called and made sure that Sophia/Sofia was licensed to clean. She is supervised under a veterinarian; and her work is amazing. Overall, my dog and I love this place. I can't vouch for their daycare services since I have never done it here before. But the grooming and dental cleanings here are awesome! :) read more

My 2 pappilon puppies stayed here for several days. They seem to be alittle scared but from what i can see in the camera, they just wants to relax! I took my shy, hydrophobic dog to get groomed here. He's got short hair, so I can't comment on any styling, but his fur and nails were nicely trimmed without signs of lacerations or hemorrhaging, I like the early hours of operation. The store is very clean and in a nice location. The staff seems very friendly. I like the pet supplies they sell. .... And then a few weeks later I get something in the mail from them. I was annoyed at first because I'm moving soon and didn't want anything sent here. When I opened it, it was this funky picture of my dog with a look of sadness/confusion/mournful acceptance on his face that he normally displays during bath time. It was HILARIOUS. Woah. VERY different than the last time I went! I stopped in when I first moved to Pasadena a year ago, and it was dirty and everything was dusty, and there was like 99% dog stuff and nothing cat. NOW, they have a groomery area and a doggie play room behind a glass. Their items are a little more unique and unusual picks than say, a Petsmart might have, which is cool. and they even have a little cat stuff corner. Still pretty tiny, but at least it's there. It's mostly organic, and grain-free and natural etc etc cat foods, and canned foods like "Tiki Cat" which I tried and blew my mind, it was like a straight up fish was shoved in a can and came exploding out. It smelled like a trashcan and my cat loved it. They have this new raw dried food that you add water to, they have their own brand of litter, and a small selection of toys and scratchers etc. I hear they do cat grooming, I'd try it perhaps. read more

I had previously reviewed their grooming services--still 5 stars from me! This time I would like to review their adoption service! My husband and I were heartbroken over the recent loss of our younger doggy, Simon. We were quick to want to adopt again. My husband initially wanted to check out adoptions via MPG first, but due to proximity, we checked out the animal shelter first. At the shelter, we were unable to interact with the dog we were interested in and were told that if we place a hold on a dog, the dog will be neutered right before pick-up. How can I decide to take home a family member without spending time with him first?! We passed. Peter asked me to call MPG to ask if there were any dogs up for adoption. Lanie answered the phone and asked me what I'm looking for. Upon my answer, she quickly told me there was 1 dog who fit my description. Peter and I quickly made a trip out. We met Dottie, played with her a little bit in the store, & Lanie welcomed us to take little Dottie for a quick walk. The short, but quality time we were able to spend with Dottie was enough for her to steal our hearts away! We put in an application and thought we'd have to wait a couple of days for a response. 'Twas a pleasant surprise that we were approved in 2 HOURS! Thank you, MPG for taking care of Dottie for the year she spent with you awaiting adoption. She is the most perfect little girl. My Pet Garden was amazing! I called for a Saturday afternoon grooming appointment and not only do they have amazing customer service, they also took in consideration that this would be the first time my miniature schnauzer puppy would be getting groomed. They suggested that I make an ealier appointment so they could spend more time with him! Once there, I was greeted and talked through what will happen to my puppy Otis. They were very nice and accomidating to the fact that Otis has allergies and therefore his skin can get easily irritated. So they used hypoallergenic shampoo and also the groomer didn't shave his hair too short - which most groomers do at other places! After 2 hours - again, they took their time and made sure Otis felt ok - I picked Otis up and I had to do a double take! He went from fluffy puppy to a stylish teen! Thank you!!! read more

I love this store. I find myself coming back every week because I forgot to buy something the week before. Christina at the front desk is very helpful and friendly. Since I foster for an animal rescue, she's given me great tips and suggestions on how to train them. They also have great prices and wonderful products that are competitive. These people know their products and would not sell anything but the best! My Pet Garden does not sell puppies. Rather, they rescue them, nurse them back to health and adopt them out. None of the cats or dogs in the store come from puppy mills. read more

I would call this place a "hidden gem." I have a parrot that needs his beak trimmed and wings clipped every few months. There are places that do it (not expensive), but it's a horrible experience for the bird. Joel (not sure if he is the owner or not), was soo kind to my bird that it wasn't a horrible experience at all. Normally my bird is in a BAD mood after his grooming, but in this case he was all loves and cuddles. I don't know that Joel had a different technique but he showed my bird a lot of love and smiles before taking a file to his face so I would guess that's the difference. The customer service is unbeatable. The prices are VERY reasonable. There is no reason that anyone should complain about their price because they offer a low price guarantee - meaning they will match the lower price if you find it. I am in LOVE with this place.... The name alone is pretty awesome sounds like a doggy oasis of some sort so kudos for the stellar name. But they also have great groomers. I took my step-pup here to get groomed and this was his first time so I was nervous. They let us know it's a 20% discount and the groom was about $45 (hes a small Chihuahua/Terrier mix so its based off dog size) which also included the price for the teeth bushing cause boy did that dog have puppy breath. After a friend dropped him off and I explained what I wanted over the phone I anxiously waited for them to finish. It took about 3 hours and the results were amazing!!!! My dog came out so fresh and clean his fur was a dark brown/black color before but after the cut and clean he was an adorable mocha color. He was a BRAND NEW DOG and I fell in love with him all over again. Some tips: They have a free doggie day care with your first groom but you must bring the dogs shot records (wish I would of gotten that settled straight away) They also give you a free adorable bandana after the groom (my poochie loved it) They also sell pet items (doggie pads, food, etc and its reasonably priced the pads are cheaper then at Petco) They do give you a loyalty card which after 7 stamps (each stamp is for a purchase of over $25) you get 20%off your next purchase. But I was satisfied with my results I ended up spending 50 bucks for a groom and puppy pads. read more

We loved this place. The staff is super friendly and the rates aren't too bad, but still expensive. The dogs are really friendly and get plenty of play in. But here's the issue if your dog has any needs besides food and sleep: We had to board our two dogs here for the Christmas break. We had repeatedly told them of one of our dog's luxating patella (his kneecap can slip out of place but it's SUPER easy to pop back in and he doesn't mind). We told three separate staff who confirmed it wasn't a problem. It was nice to see them play online from the doggy webcam. However, we noticed online that he had his knee up because the kneecap had popped out, so we called to ask if they were fixing the problem in general. Of the week they were there, it was only fixed once. We're not sure how long it was out of place, or how much discomfort he was in because of that. They told us when we returned to pick up our dogs that they were not comfortable doing it at all then. We won't be going back here since they cannot accommodate a very common and simple medical issue, which is a shame because the dogs really loved it. On another note, they are Very bad about calling you back. If you need information, and they tell you they'll follow up, make sure you call them or you'll never know what you wanted to. I took my dog for grooming and I was kind of nerves because this was his first time with different people grooming him but I didn't need to worry about it. Unfortunately my dog doesn't like kennels, even at his old groomer so I was thankful that instead of keeping him in the kennel, they took him for a walk until I got there. When I got there I was expecting them to tell me that he wouldn't be able to come back but they were very accommodating and told me what we should do for our next visit so it won't happen again. I took both of my dogs here separately for the first time recently. My beagle, Nibs, got a bath. She was so soft and clean and her nails were very nicely trimmed (no rough or jagged edges). I'll also add that whatever shampoo they used did not have an overpowering perfumey smell, which was great! Later I took my pit bull, Max, just for a nail trim. They did such an amazing job. I have been to My Pet Garden before just looking around, when they first opened. Great customer service without being shadowed by an employee. I love that. Today I took my Chi Mix, Barbarella in for a grooming. AMAZING job!! GREAT pricing as well. The groomer Donna is awesome. She chatted quickly with me and answered my questions about my little ones nails since I am afraid of hurting her tend to grow longer than they should, which ironically hurts her.(I know, bad me). They have a great selection of food for the picky eaters and the animals with allergies! Gluten free, grain free, different types of meat, etc... The staff is also very helpful in helping you choose a food that is right for your pet (which can get a bit overwhelming when your cat is allergic to fish and chicken). My kitty seems to be allergic to chicken and fish. The combo means that grocery stores, Petco, Petsmart, Walmart, Target, etc... DO NOT carry any kitty kibble that she can eat being even the "beef" flavored foods have chicken and/or fish in them. I was about to try a grain free food and see if the grains were the issue until I decided to check this place out right up the street from my apartment. An associate (Chris) helped me to find a kibble that fit my cat's dietary needs and even recommended certain brands. She was very knowledgeable on the ins and outs of the different products, and made great recommendations. They even had samples for me to try for my cat and see if they agreed with her. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality of food you're getting. I ended up spending about $20 on a 5lb bag of gluten-free, grain-free, chicken-and-fish-free food for my cat, but they also had some gluten-free, grain-free food (with chicken...) for like $14 for 4lb. Not too shabby! I was also told that if the food does not agree with my kitty, I can always return it as long as the bag is 3/4 full. Sometimes, you go through the bad in order to appreciate the good. I went to a boarding place called Heavenly Resort (yes, I'm going to call them out on it) and it was a terrible experience. I won't get into it here. BUT, I have been to My Pet Garden twice for my dog. I love the fact that I can log in online to check up on my dog. I always notice that there is a person in there sitting with the dogs, keeping them company. It was really nice to see. The only thing I would recommend is that they fix their website because there is always an error when I want to view the webcam on a desktop. I am able to view it somehow via my phone. Anyway, I got back my dog safe and sound and he was good. It didn't look like he lost weight either (which was important). After the first visit, they mailed me a picture of my dog while he was there. It's cute...I have it hanging over his bed. Thanks My Pet Garden! read more
