I was gonna go to banh mi ba le but saw this place has really good reviews. I got 3 bbq beef sandwich. The flavor is good but I don't think it deserves a 5 star. It is missing the nice charred flavor and that sweet fish sauce with scallions. The bread texture also was not as good as I expected. It wasn't chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. This was a cool find in a last minute yelp search for lunch. I had the cold cut sub and my fiancé had the grilled pork sub. We also split chicken spring rolls and a thai tea. Both of the subs were good although we wished for more fillings. I felt like something was missing in the cold cut that would've made it even better but can't quite put my finger on what. The spring rolls were also pretty good. The thai tea was a bit too sweet for me and I wish it had a but stronger tea taste, but I didn't pick this place for their tea so that's ok. One of my favorites! We have a bahn mi spot in the area of the city where I live; however, I drive out to Randolph just to come here on the weekends. I'm perplexed with any negative reviews of this spot... gotta chalk them up to diners who aren't truly experienced with *authentic* Asian food and don't know what they're talking about. Also, there may be a language barrier with the elder staff, so instead of making assumptions of them being "rude"... perhaps we should have empathy and realize that all people are -- different? This is a solid spot that I'll come to for the rest of my life. Plus, they make some prepared foods like homemade bao-- which is a treat for me. Such a hidden gem tucked away in Braintree with probably the best chicken bahn mi I've ever had. It's a curry chicken bahn mi, which I've never had before but now am a huge fan of. They have a nice selection of entrees on top of their bahn mi's and you can't ever go wrong with any of their smoothies. The pork egg rolls are also super tasty. Absolutely love this place. You can't go wrong with a Vietnamese sub for under 4$. On my most recent visit they were out of grilled pork and the owner recommended chicken which he said was made with lemongrass. It was just as good as pork! (you won't hear me say that often about chicken, especially in asian cuisine). I highly recommend their shakes as most of them are made with REAL fruit (a lot of bubble tea places use powders). I love the avocado shake as they peel the avocado fresh for your shake! If you like avocados, it's a must! There's parking and the male owner behind the counter is very friendly. This is the 3rd of Randolph, MA's soon to be 4 (yes, count'em, FOUR) Vietnamese restaurants. This one is in the spirit of the traditional bahn mi/coffee shop. Aside from the aforementioned items (including a variety of bubble teas), they also have some basic Vietnamese dishes, such as choice of meat over rice or rice noodle, spring rolls, bahn mi soup, etc. If they were in NYC, they definitely would not be the worst place to go for Vietnamese sandwiches, etc.; they would probably fall somewhere in the middle, and for the cost concious, they would probably be near the top, as a chicken bahn mi sandwich is only $3 (!!) and vegetarian summer rolls are the same price (!). The owners are super friendly and everything is made to order and was fresh. Note: in the South Shore tradition, the bahn mi is not French bread, but Italian sub rolls with the ends cut off to look like they are sections of a long Italian bread. That being said, it is amazing enough that this place exists at all in Randolph. Please support them so they stay in business so I can keep coming back here ! Note: one of Randolph's other Vietnamese restaurants (Creole Crawfish) has a fish po' boy, which is actually a catfish bahn mi. I cannot report on this one yet, but trust mi, I will in the future ! Additional note: this spot and Randolph's Jamaican restauant (who charge like $20 for the large bottle of roots tonic (?!?!?)(which should be $10, hello?!?!) are the only places in Randolph open for lunch on Thanksgiving. Shut up and take my money! That's all I got to say about this place. The owner and his wife are really nice. I go there at least once or twice a week. you can say I am their regular. I always get their mango boba, oh my god! It's heaven sent! They use real fruit and they fill it up all the way on top of the lid. I go there just to get their boba, I am not a big fan of subs in general, but I've tried all of them and the pork one is the best. So last time I was there and I'm hungry. I said "I don't know what I want.... ummm" The owner said "We have curry tonight!" Well, I do love curry so I order some curry, boba, and took some sticky rice with chicken to go. This place is a find! The food is tasty and the prices are very reasonable. You have to try the bao buns-they are fantastic! The prefect balance of slightly sweet dough and rich filling. The bahn mi (cold cut) is good but I miss the pate like spread which other places usually use. The beef bahn mi was really good. I've also tried a few different bubble tea and they were also tasty and the avocado drink is made with fresh avocado. This is a mom and pop place and it's clear that the man and woman running the place work hard. But this restaurant changed that mindset. I ordered: - Bowl of chicken Pho: The broth is what made this Pho outstanding. I also enjoyed how the chicken was cut up into slices instead of thick slices. - Grilled beef Banh: I'm not a fan of the "original banh mi" with the various slices of meat. This beef Banh Mi was AMAZING. Tender/juicy beef, crunchy/fresh cucumbers, and whatever delicious sauce they use in that sub. - Mango Bubble Tea: Refreshing! There's nothing artificial, only fresh fruit are used for this bubble tea. It's a quaint little shop, don't come in here with a big party though. However, they do have outdoor seating which could accomodate more people. The service was friendly and welcoming. I had the chance to chat with the owner for a bit, he was super nice and is part of the reason why I wanna come back again. Prices were definitely reasonable! Have $5 in your pocket? First time visiting here and I am glad i took the time to find it. The location is hard to spot but just remember it is next to dominos. The owner and his wife were in there cooking and very friendly and hard working. My wife and I decided to get take out. We had the spring rolls Goi Cuon, Vermicelli noodle with chicken Bun Thit Nuong, Traditional Crab soup (suggested by the owner and a great addition mmm), and of course my favorite beef pho. Everything was fresh and make to order. The owner gave us some of his homeade special hot sauce with lemon grass (excellent addition to the beef pho). For dessert we had a sesame covered donut hole. I get my quick Vietnamese sub run here when I'm craving for some. Last time I got the Xiu Mai. It was OK... it was sort of cold and I would prefer them to separate the meatballs from the bread. The bread was a bit soggy when I got home. I guess I could have asked them to put the meatballs in a separate container. Also, English is not their first language, so there is not a lot of small talk other than taking your order. They do not have a wait staff, so you order up front and pay first. This was my first time ordering from here today. They have good reviews so I was excited. I called in and placed my order. As I was asking what the total was to double check, the man hung up the phone on me. I called back asking if I could find out my total and this was his response: " Oh come on! It's busy now! You can find out your total when you get here". Yeah, never again. What kind of customer service is that? Update: I get a phone call an hour and a half later asking me if I'm coming to pick up my order (which I had already decided that I wasn't due to his rudeness) . Great Vietnamese subs! Which is hard to get outside of Boston. Try it for lunch one day!

The business card for N&H Saigon Subs says "Cheap. Fresh. Friendly." All are so very true. It might also add "wonderfully authentic and healthy" and "you will miss us as soon as you walk out" and "better than any other Vietnamese restaurant in New England (maybe anywhere!)" But those three words that they chose will probably do! The banh mi subs are (of course) awesome. The pho here is not your typical restaurant pho--it has lots of different stuff--vegetables, thickly-sliced fresh (not frozen) beef, green onions, thinly-sliced yellow onions...the works (and ask for some of the fresh lemongrass hotsauce on the side--it adds the perfect "oomph"!). The smoothies are terrific, real fruit smoothies. The beefstew is so fragrant, with anise and spices and the heavenly french baguette on the side, it will almost make you wish for a cold day. And the owners are really as sweet as their mango smoothies. Who would think that a tiny little place like this (and like Wamps in Braintree) would make somebody have to really think twice before moving away? Special places, specialeople and special food all make for a winning combination. Eat fresh and eat local, and help to make them a very-deserved success. did end up ordering the banh mi and both kinds of rolls for a party few months ago; everything was packed and labeled with thoughts (complete with arrows and stuff) - thumbs up for that. food was tasty and gone before everything else. went and ordered lunch for pickup last week; again food was ready when i arrived, pretty much just paid and left. owner gentleman was still friendly as heck, part of me is not quite used to this hospitality!! LOL the place is literally a mile (or less!) off the highway. could be a pain making a left turn onto R28S afterwards esp during pm hours (as i have done before), but returning to highway via R28N is not a problem at all since that's the side the store is on. pretty much got one of each kind off the entree menu: shaved pork on rice, chicken congee, beef pho, spring roll, fresh roll, and red bean shake. all came to $30~. a steal considering i have had to pay over $20 for 3 of above at Pho So 1 down by town center. pho is always tricky for take out as the noodle tends to stick together, some can become undone when you put it back into the broth, but that's a gamble. meanwhile, there's raw beef sitting in the box - kind of gross if you try to take that home on a hot summer day. i like how they seem to have blanched the beef here so it's not completely raw, yet still rare enough to be dipped into the soup without overcooking it. though the beef was of the stir fry variety (just thinner), not the round ultra thin ones i have had at many other places. in here, you don't get the different parts (ex. brisket, tendon, etc) to choose from either. for $8, it's a meh overall. they do throw in a couple of pork meatballs (likely prepackaged stuff) in the broth, though. chicken congee looked blah but was actually packed with flavor - i'm guessing fried shallot being a secret ingredient bc i certainly tasted it. for $5, it's a ok. i generally prefer the Cantonese style congee which has a thicker consistency; this one is a bit more watery, like a minestrone soup or sorts. pork rice had the same grilled flavors to it, except you get shaved meat here instead of a full chop at many other places. price is fair at $6.50 though. $3.25 red bean smoothie without pearls came on par, and was a much needed treat for the day despite the freezing temperatures and mountains of snow outside. they keep the drinks cold in the fridge for you, and sometimes they may forget to take it out after it's been sitting in there a while - happens to everybody. so if you don't want to loop back for it after you get home or be pissed that you have to skip it now after craving it for weeks, just make sure you have it before you leave. all things considered, i still like this place, and for some reason i like it a lot. maybe the pricing has something to do with it? haha. but the humble, mild, friendly gentleman who runs the shop is definitely another contributing factor. read more

I liked it. I've never had the Bahn mih sandwiches before. Whenever I go to a Vietnamese place I always just get either pho, vermicelli noodles or rice. But I though that since this is what this place was called then I had to get it. I got the grilled chicken bahn mih, with chicken spring rolls and a Thai iced tea. I didn't care for the Iced tea, but I've only ever liked one in my life from a place in MD. I wonder if I just don't like it. The spring rolls were great! I got them freshly cooked so they were nice and hot. I liked the fish sauce that came with it, but I really wanted some sweet chili sauce with it, but they didn't have it. The chicken was ok. I liked that there were fresh ingredients in the sandwich. I liked the crunchiness of the bread. It just didn't seem like there was enough chicken, or that it wasn't flavorful enough for me to taste it. I wasn't really sure what to expect since it was my first time. Maybe I just don't like the sandwiches. But I do have a three time rule before I say I don't like something. So I'll come back and try the other bahn mihs. read more

Bruh... this was amazing. I think this is the BEST banh mi I've had. The bread is so toasty and has a crunch when you bite into it. The veggies are fresh and burst with flavor. We used to love this place when it was N&H Saigon subs - we would make the drive out here from Cambridge just to get the bun rieu which was heavenly (and well deserving of five stars in both food and service). That place now only exists in the past - I don't know if it was Covid or the name change or both, but we drove all the way from New York to come back here for the bun rieu - and we found a shadow of a memory here - no dine in service, and an extremely unhelpful person who took our order and then realized that half of our order could not even be completed (so we had to revise our order after we had placed and paid for it). Beware that this place is basically riding on the reputation that was built by the previous owners - the current folks here seem to think that they can rudely serve you slop and call what they're doing a restaurant. This is definitely NOT the same place that garnered these previous five star reviews. read more
