I received two phone calls from N Thai Palace to make sure they had the right order. My order with modifications was actually more than the door dash app ended up charging me. The person I spoke to(I think the manager or owner) ended up not charging me even though he had every right to. He also sent over the order they initially made that wasn't with the modifications I wanted free of charge. His attitude was delightful through out our conversations and not once did he lose his cool. His main concern was to make sure my order was correct and that I was happy with my food. One star is better than none. N Thai earns one star for good service including a constantly full glass of water. I started with their "Green Monster" bubble tea drink with kiwi and star fruit juice and tapioca balls. It tasted like the fruit juice components but very watered down. The tapioca balls were still raw and hard, so basically, inedible. Then I had the "Thai Som Tum"- a raw papaya salad with long green beans, sweet tamarind sauce, lemon, and peanut. Bland. I couldn't taste the papaya, sauce, or lemon at all. For entrees, I had the "Garden Vegetables with Tofu in Black Bean Sauce" and "Stuffed Steam Tofu with Cashew Nuts in Ginger Sauce." For the first entree, the sauce seemed to be missing along with any black bean flavor. For the second entree, I could hardly taste the ginger. Both dishes were watery and lacked flavor. I had N Thai Palace bookmarked for quite some time after seeing Yelp reviews. My family and I came here for lunch on Father's Day and were seated right away! My dad ordered a cashew chicken curry (spicy) and enjoyed it. He said it wasn't as spicy as typical Thai restaurants (he loves spicy), but it was delicious. Mom had the chili cauliflower with cashew nuts and manchurian sauce - she loooooved it. We were actually supposed to split both of our dishes, but she decided to keep hers after trying it. BUT that didn't bother me because I ordered my favorite, vegetarian drunken noodles! Medium spicy - wasn't very spicy, but they gave hot sauce on the side (very good!). The dish was veryyy different than any other Thai place I've tried! The sauce was more tomato-y and they sprinkled lots of basil leaves (the condiment) into the dish, which made it very flavorful! It was definitely yummy, but I personally prefer fresh basil leaves over the seasoning. The tofu was cut into teenie-tiny little pieces and was skimpy, but the few pieces I had were delicious. The mixed vegetables in the noodles didn't include baby corn, which is sort-of a deal breaker for me. Instead, they had cauliflower, which I've never had in my drunken noodles before - good addition for sure! We ordered the falooda kulfi for dessert - again, my parents were major fans. I didn't like that it was so frozen that I could taste the ice on the bottom of it. We literally had to take the piece of kulfi out onto another plate to try to de-ice it, but hey, maybe I'm being overly critical because my parents still loved it lol I'd give N Thai Palace 3.5 stars if I could! My mom would give it a 4.5, Dad would give it a 4 (lost points for the ambiance, not the food!). This place is really, really good. Granted, I have only eaten here twice in two years, but I'm going to make a concerted effort to change that. N Thai nudges its way into the crowded category of all things Asian in East Brunswick, but then sets itself apart with some uniquely flavorful dishes that really please the palate. I've eaten a lot of Thai food in the area, and much of it is pretty decent. N Thai just seems to stand out a bit more. The ginger-fried lamb cooked in black bean sauce with fresh garlic and vegetables is a real treat. And the chicken stir-fried with fresh coriander and garlic sauce with onion is a definite winner, and one that I will most certainly be coming back for. Even the salad that comes with most dishes is a standout with an excellent peanut dressing that has a really nice bite to it. What the restaurant lacks in decor it makes up with some wonderfully artful presentations on the plate. I have not tried it, but the pineapple fried rice served in half of a hallowed-out pineapple looks amazing. And this is not to say the restaurant interior is bad in any way. It's just very simple. I would think that such good looking food would want to be eaten in a more trendy surrounding. Note that if you work in the area, the under $10 lunch menu can't be beat. Every dish comes with soup or salad, and the portions are very generous. As I always say in reviews like this, please try to support local businesses. N Thai Palace is a really solid strip-mall thai resto which i never would've stepped foot into had it not been for my fellow yelpers and their great reviews (thanks y'all!!!). seriously, this place is in a small strip mall right off rt. 18 in east brunswick... and the strip mall is more than half-vacant. i would've passed it without second thought and missed out on some pretty fab, reasonably priced thai food and super friendly service to boot. our waters were refilled quickly and the food came out very fast. i would've missed out on the free thai iced tea with yelp check-in (yay!). it was nicely spiced and was a fun bonus for living the #yelplife. i would've skipped a heaping portion of yummy chicken pad thai at a very reasonable price. the flavor was average, and i'll be back to try something else for sure. worst of all, i would've spent the rest of forever not knowing the magic of the black pepper chicken. seriously, this entree is amazing. i got the mild since i'm kind of a baby when it comes to spice, and it was still pretty hot- but in a really, really, realllyyyyy good way. the black pepper flavor is perfect, the chicken is well-marinated and not over-cooked. served with a side of white rice... Tried this place for the first time. Was in the mood for Thai food. I would have enjoyed it better if I was in the mood for Indian food. To set expectations, the food here is closer to Indian food than Thai. The decor too. Just be prepared. We ordered the sampler appetizer which comes with fried shrimp sticks (good), chicken satay (dried thin chicken breast slice), spring rolls (typical, not spectacular though), and an Indian version of coleslaw (very different from anything I had and good) Also ordered the coconut shrimp curry, chicken pad Thai and black pepper chicken which other reviewers raved about. The curry sauce (which was very good, by the way) is served like a broth inside an actual coconut and the shrimp is served hanging on the edge of the coconut. Beautiful presentation. Dish was tasty too. I ate the whole bowl of rice with the sauce. The black pepper shrimp that everyone was raving about was not as expected. The presentation of the chicken dish was nowhere like the shrimp presentation. It was a plate of chicken thigh chunks covered in large black pepper specks. I don't know what it tastes like. Indian spice, maybe? Also too salty. Pad Thai was not your typical pad thai. This was a bit too saucy and the noodles are a lot broader. The Thai ice tea, which is free with Yelp check in, was good. N Thai Palace is a great discover in East Brunswick, NJ. The Penang Curry with shrimp (ordered mild in spice) tasted delicious and was soothing for the throat. The dish was a great deal in part because it came with free Tom Yum Vegetable Soup, and it was also part of the lunch special. It had the perfect consistency, creamy-like, and made my nose run-just what I needed on a cold winter day! My friend ordered a dish which featured Basil Noodles and dried tomatoes and she loved it as well. It's 50% off for students on Thursdays but only for dinner which my friend and I were unaware of and had just missed the deal by having lunch there on Thursday. The Tom Yum Vegetarian soup was also delicious, savory, and had a sour taste that went well with the spicy flavor. I love Thai soups!! The leaf shaped chocolate on top is dark chocolate and inside is a large scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It is coated in a crunchy, coconut flavored exterior with ooey-gooey caramel. Speaking of that leaf shaped chocolate has reminded me that one should definitely check out the buffet at N Thai Palace! They have fewer dishes than most buffets but the quality of their dishes is absolutely fantastic. I remember I tried their chicken kabobs and I was in love immediately. .For my normal Sunday lunch with the family, my group of three (me, big sister, and mom) decided on Thai. N Thai is nestled in a small complex off busy Rt. 18 and right next to a bakery I frequented quite often in the past (Le Crepe) Let's get to the food. We ordered the sampler appetizer platter that was very good with two separate spring rolls (veggie and shrimp), satay skewers, and papaya salad coupled with a side serving of four dipping sauces. Both types of spring rolls were crunchy and happily neither over fried nor oily (as can easily be done) with fresh diced vegetables and shrimp in each respective roll. Chicken satay skewers were of equal quality; fresh and nicely seasoned. Papaya salad was my favorite of the four appetizers with a delectable contrast in flavors from what I could taste as lime, fish sauce or vinegar?, and small diced papaya pieces. It was a really refreshing salad, and really worth ordering individually for a larger portion. Tip: My favorite dipping sauce was the green dipping sauce, which I swear tasted like apple, but asking the waiter I was told it was a vinegar based sauce. For my main, I chose the Chili Lamb dish which I ordered "extra hot", being a fan of spicy food and also that most restaurants tend to tame down the heat level for customers. Lamb was a bit of a disappointment as the slices were were pretty lean, albeit still tender, and lacked that hint of gaminess you expect to taste in lamb. It could have used a bit more seasoning as well. The rest of the dish, comprised of a medley of green and red peppers, chili, and onions were good but neither imparted a level of heat nor spiciness I'd expect from Thai food; let alone earning the "extra hot" preference which I had ordered. My sister ordered the Chicken Curry Massaman (Penang), which is more of a Malaysian dish, but trying a couple of spoonfuls of her curry coupled with the brown rice I found it pretty good, but a bit more coconut milk than I would prefer. Mom ordered the Black Pepper Shrimp that was pretty good as well with a fair number of nicely sized shrimps each cooked very well. I had one shrimp (thanks Mom!) and it was fresh and perfectly cooked. However, she found the dish a tad too spicy (she ordered medium spice level) but heat/spice level tolerance is such an individual preference so it's hard to judge person to person. I wish yelp would allow for 1/2 star ratings, as I would give N Thai a solid 3.5 stars, but considering my relatively high standards for Asian food, I have to give N Thai 3 stars. read more

Arrived around 5 pm on a Saturday and the place was busy but a table was available so we were seated right away. It's a BYOB place so that's a plus if you want to bring your own. This is the perfect example of a place that would have come and gone if not for the internet, specifically Yelp. N Thai Palace is in a downscale strip mall on the border of town, and from the front there is very little to indicate that this is a place you want to enter. If that's your thought, you'd be wrong. Why? The food is pretty special. Yeah, this place has been covered over and over by local Yelpers, and every single one of them is right. The food is great. The Chicken with Black Pepper? Really special. I went with the obvious choice, the dish with universal applause, for my first stop at this eatery. The chicken is deeply marinated, and is the color of beef but the marinade is just enough to provide a deep and rich flavor. You have a choice of heat, and I went with medium which was plenty hot but still so full of flavor. Every bite was delicious, and even leftovers the next morning were delicious. I also ordered the sweet corn and chicken soup, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I picked up the Golden Tofu, but it was largely a miss because the breading was a bit plain and it really needed a more savory sauce than the sweet and sour it came with. I've had Golden Tofu elsewhere and it's been far richer in flavor--and, fascinatingly, is cooked with a crispy outside but an inside of almost liquid tofu which causes a pop when you bite into it. But, no need to dwell on that because the other dishes were terrific. This is certainly a gem hidden in at strip mall on Route 18. If no one had recommended it to me, I probably would have never set a foot in here. The downside to this place is that the service was downright awful. The waiter forgot about us multiple times! He first brought boxes to pack up the food, but didn't bother bringing the check. We had to wait awhile to ask for the check. It was crazy. On the bright side the food was phenomenal. I was surprised on how good it was! I orders the chili fish while my parents ordered garlic lamp, grilled lamb, and pinnacle rice. Everything was delicious and was quickly devoured! I've been at this restaurant twice and I've had spectacular service each time. The waiters are very chill and attentive. They knew the menu very well and the food came out very timely. I ordered black pepper chicken and it did not disappoint. I asked for mild and it was the perfect amount of spice for me as someone who's got a sensitive tongue. My friends and I stayed for almost two hours, and by 8PM the restaurant was unbelievably crowded with a line out the door. This was the same when I went last time. Every single person that I have introduced to N Thai has fallen in love with it. I've been coming since it first opened, and since I live nearby, I often have friends ringing me up to see if I want to go grab food there or my parents picking up some on their way home. On weekends, the place can have a bit of a wait, and I've known people who have come from all over NJ just to eat here. N Thai has everything: delicious food (it's halal btw!), fantastic presentation, inexpensive prices, and very friendly staff. Taste: N Thai's food is a sort of Indo-Thai fusion, but much more on the Thai side. (Also, be careful when deciding on spiciness, because they REALLY mean spicy.) I always insist on people ordering (or at least trying) the Drunken Noodles (I personally prefer it with shrimp). My other absolute favorites are the Tamarind Chicken (this one, you HAVE to get extra spicy, otherwise it's too dry), Thai Beef Steak, and Chili Lamb. Their Thai Iced Tea is delicious, and my fiancé is also a big fan of their Sweet Corn Chicken Soup. Obviously, I personally don't love every single item on the menu as I'm a picky eater, but each dish is objectively well made. Their desserts are quite good as well. I'm a fan of the chocolate parfait (which is more of a kind of chocolate ice cream in mint sauce), while most people like the coconut fried ice cream. Price: On top of its good pricing, you should take note of N Thai's dinner specials (dine-in only). Tuesday is Ladies' Night, Wednesday is Senior Citizen Night (55 & over), and Thursday is Student Night (make sure you bring your ID!). If eligible, you can get 50% off one entree. Presentation: For its affordable pricing and semi-casual ambiance, N Thai's presentation is better than some of the five star restaurants I've been to. The desserts in particular look very well done. Staff: N Thai is family-owned, which may be why they do such a great job. Syed (there's two of them, but I'm referring to the older one who's usually running the place from the front) is a really great guy, but he doesn't enable rude customers. Any time I've seen someone on Yelp complaining about him, I know they must have done something very rude or nasty because he has never told off a customer without reason. If a customer demands a discount for no reason or gets nasty about service, he WILL tell them off and rightfully so. (I studied HR and "the customer is always right" is a nonsense business policy.) If you're a gracious customer (which you should be either way), you'll be fine. The rest of the staff is also quite friendly. Ambiance: N Thai is not too formal, but it's still a nice restaurant for a casual meeting, a date, or an outing with friends/family. It's very clean (as is its bathroom), has nice decor, and doesn't feel crowded even when it's completely packed. If you've made it this far into the review, thank you lol. N Thai Palace appears to be struggling Thai restaurant since it is located in a narrow slot of a half vacant strip mall on the border of East Brunswick and Old Bridge townships. But, don't be fooled because N Thai Palace is truly a hidden gem. Though the restaurant was full (of smiles), we were sat immediately and greeted by a super enthusiastic Ivan. The menu had an extensive amount of options for Thai, Indian, and Malaysian dishes and was reasonably priced. I ordered the following dishes based on the recommendations on Yelp. The Black Peppered Chicken and the Drunken Noodles with beef. I ordered both dishes to be extra mild since my mother can not tolerate any spice. In approximately 8-10 minutes, the food was on our table. I was surprised since the restaurant was very busy. My water was refilled numerous times, too. Great service-- The service of a 5-star restaurant but the ambiance of a local Thai joint. The presentation of the food was beautiful and I was very excited to eat my dinner! FOODGASM. WOW. Thank you for the recommendations, my fellow Yelpers. The sauces were, wow, delicious, fabulous, flavorful, and more. The chicken was so juicy & moist, and the beef, also moist and soft. I took my mom out for dinner for her birthday and based on reviews I thought it would be a great decision. Authentic, great decor, and full house (though luckily only a five minute wait!) Except...after 45 minutes of sitting there, we were only served our chicken satay appetizer and a Thai iced tea. People who were seated after us were already finishing their main courses (no exaggeration, I swear). I think they forgot about our order until we mentioned it to a waiter, where from then on out a waiter occasionally stopped by to assure us they were backed up and our food would be out shortly. I had hoped to get a crepe from the bakery next door, and when I looked at my phone I found it would be closing in ten minutes and rushed outside while my mom told them to make our food to go. Sad thing is, it was just ginger basil chicken--nothing elaborate. Regardless though, we probably didn't need a reservation for lunch, there was a decent number of tables available. Lunch took long to come out, but it was worth every second. I strolled into this place on Saturday after seeing decent reviews on Yelp. All in all I think it was a good choice. The food is pretty good (definitely try the appetizer sampler) and I love that that will make your dishes spicy as requested. I ordered the pad thai with chicken and shrimp and although it was a little more "wet" than I usually have my pad thai it was good. The reason this place only gets 3 stars is because of the service. The service was decent at best. When I first arrived I was the only person in the restaurant and the staff just looked at me instead of greeting me and leading me and my friend to a table (I let this slide. I know how it is to have a slow day at work). We eventually sat down and ordered, which was a painless process. At this point more diners came in. At this point the service became slower and slower. There were about 3 employees in the front of the restaurant and 5 tables. You would think it would be easy enough to manage, but it wasn't. To get attention for something as simple as a refill of water you'd have to flag a waiter down and then hope they come over without stopping somewhere else. I thought maybe the need to flat down wait staff was limited to me, but it wasn't I heard and saw multiple tables doing the same. This is by far one of the trendiest Thai places I have ever been to in NJ. The ambiance is nice, the service was pleasant, and the food... Well, it was pretty good! The portions themselves were pretty huge and left us both quite full. As for the taste, Her tamerand chicken was fantastic, but my Pad See Ew was... Healthy? I'm used to having Pad See Ew Be greasy, oily, and just full on flavorful. Not terrible but really not great. I love trying Thai places, this one is just average to below average. The drunken noodles were actually terrible, no one enjoyed them at all. The massaman curry was pretty good which is the two stars here! The pad thai was really nothing to write home about and was not authentic, really a very tomato paste flavor which was disappointing. Overall, just really not impressive and won't be ordering here again. There are much better Thai places are in the area. read more

The service was really really bad where they take really long time to just take an order. After getting us seated, they didn't take order until 20 minutes. Plus, they didn't inform that we needed to place in order for everything that we needed. The food arrived late. And then the server clearly mentioned that drinks and desserts would still be available. After 9 but when the order was given he said its not available but he had said its available earlier. Really confused as to why this place is so highly rated. I thought it was pretty terrible. The wings appetizer was super greasy. The spring rolls were ok but the sauce (same as the wings) was too sweet. The pad Thai was horrid. The sauce was sweet and the heat was nothing special. Top it off that my server wouldn't refill my drink despite me asking twice. I'm fat and i didn't finish anything. What does that tell you? Never again. read more

Visited this place on my Birthday with the Mrs., Lunch Menu was exceptionally reasonable and the taste was perfect. My wife told them if they had anything sweet for my Birthday and they have us Mango Mousse over Mango Pulp base and Happy Birthday written in Chocolate. I was blown away when they refused to charge for the birthday dish. I will strongly recommend this place to everyone. The waitress asked for Light, Medium or Hot (in terms of Spicy) and I opted for Medium to stay on the safe side. I will go for Hot the next time I'll be there. Enjoy..... This place has gone down hill since they moved to the new space a couple years ago. This used to be the best Thai food around, but the service and quality of food has decreased. In the smaller place, their prices were affordable and portions were bigger. I'm glad they're successful, but it's not what it used to be. read more

This place has an amazing service and taste of food , I loved everything about it.... an amazing presentation , fast service and delicious taste of food... They have a pineapple drink that has an amazing taste and it is very delightful .... I would really recommend this place, Also they have the best coconut fried ice cream , yum yum ... I would highly recommend as well ... I have been to both N Thai's : the one in Somerset is also very good ... I used to go at least 2 or 3 times a week, but for me my favorite is the one in east Brunswick, it is really worth the trip out there.
