I should start by saying that my pedicure was 4 stars- lovely massage and soothing all around. BUT- the gel manicure I got was terrible. The woman was very nice but first she rushed my cuticle care so it was uneven and I had hanging bits left. Then when she did the gel she ran right onto my skin on 6 nails. I didn't realize this while we were chatting which is my bad. So I ended up with little gel spikes on my badly cut cuticles and having to peel and break the gel off of my skin. This meant those nails started peeling almost immediately. I finally gave up and took it off after only 8 days. To find that she'd also scuffed my nails so deeply they look awful with no polish on. Sigh. I wanted to like this place- clean and convenient and nice people- but no way am I going back. read more

Absolutely love this place! I had a scaring experience last winter at pro nails at bay town and was terrified to even think about stepping into another nail salon. But my girl friend took me to this place to get my nails done for my wedding. I have been here twice and love it. Tammy is a little spit fire and is hilarious, she never make me feel uncomfortable. I used to come here all the time for about 4 years. During those 4 years they went from charging $20 for a pedicure to charging anywhere from $25-$42. I understand that they are trying to become a classy spa, but it really turns me off when they hand me a menu and ask which option I want--I always pick the cheapest because I am on a budget, and I get asked if I am sure. Yes I am sure! My favorite nail tech doesn't work there anymore. It happened around the time that they changed their prices too. Sue you are awesome! I'm actually standing outside of this establishment right now while writing this review. I came in for a pedicure with a friend. Sat in the chair to get started and noticed the tech was wearing latex gloves. I'm very allergic to latex. Asked them if they had non latex. Shocked. SO SHOCKED by the response I got. The owner, who's name is Tammy, was irate!! She asked me what was the point of me coming in if was allergic. She was loud and embarrassing. I dried my feet and walked out. I went to Nail Art Salon after attempting to find someone who could do a daisy on a nail at 3 other salons. I called. Tammy said she surely could. She was kind and pleasant. I showed her a picture from Pinterest of what I wanted. Again, she said she could do it. The end result was a lovely flower that looked nothing like a daisy, but after 4 attempts to find someone who could do it, I gave up. That's the good part! I went to pay and was surprised to hear that a gel manicure was $43.00. With the tip, it came to $51.00. I have been getting gel manicures for a few years and have never paid as much. Again, I gave in because I was desperate. Within a week, my manicure began chipping and the polish on two nails actually popped off. By today, day 12, my nails were so atrocious that I went to another salon to get a decent manicure. Before doing so, I returned to Nail Art to show them why I would never return. To their credit, they did offer to correct my nails, but in the process, they argued that it had been longer than I said. Not true! As I've said, I have been getting gel manicures for a few years and have NEVER paid as much and NEVER had a manicure that deteriorated to this degree after a much longer time. BEWARE, read more

Don't try to become a regular customer! I just moved here in March - working as an RN at RRH and live in ER - quite near this salon. I waited until I was vaccinated and called for an appt for a pedicure. When I met Tammy she was nice enough but told me my feet were in bad shape and I needed a pedicure "months ago". I laughed, agreed, and explained I had just moved, was working 12 hour shifts on a COVID unit, etc. When I told her this was the first time I had been to this salon, her demeanor changed. Stopped talking to me, turned her head to talk to her regular customers. When my toes were done, she walked me to the dryer', left me there without saying anything but talking to "her" customers the whole time. After 30 minutes I got up and found her husband to payes She never came back. Needless to , say, I will never go back and strongly suggest if you are looking for a new salon, you should not either. Nail Art is a nice little shop. I popped into the salon for a mani/pedi as I did not want to be bothered with the traffic on Monroe Avenue and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly, my mani/pedi was well done and the price was reasonable. Best of all, the salon was clean. I agree with some of the earlier reviewers that this is not an "upscale" salon but then neither are the prices. My husband bought me a gift certificate for a manicure and a pedicure and I put it away to save for a special occasion. I pulled it out today and noticed that it had an expiration date of May 2017 (I honestly just didn't notice it as most gift certificates and cards from stores do not expire). I went in to see if they would still honor it and was told NO. Tammy kept insisting that she kept telling me that I had to use it (I work near by), however, she has no idea who my husband is, so she would not know that he bought a gift certificate for me (she was just asking me to come in - frumming up business). I have been a customer for since before 2010, whenever I have needed pedicures, manicures and eyebrow waxing and have always tipped generously (my favorite girl left quite awhile ago). Because of a more recent job change, I go less frequently. I have referred many people and most recently dropped off some out of town guests. She took our money and now tough luck for me. By the way, there was not one single customer in their salon when I stopped in, so squeezing me in was not an issue. Not how most stores treat their customers. I will now be a loyal customer of Gem nails in Winton Place (I had a bridal party session there over the summer), where the customer's money and referrals mean something and quality was excellent. read more
