I usually get gel manicure however I wanted something different so I opted for their Japanese Gel manicure. I didn't catch the tech's name but I believe her last name is Weng. She was super attentive and was willing to try on different nail colors to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. They provide free WiFi, only downside is that they didn't turn on their ac and it was super humid and hot. Only thing that bothered me was how thick the gel is. Everyone seems pretty friendly and will talk to you if you talk to them, but most of the time, they stay quiet and focus on their job. The only place I trust with my nails in SoCal! I make sure to pay a visit whenever I am back home in the 626. The interior is clean, decorative, and service is great. I go to Carrie each time and I have never been disappointed. I have done both Japanese gel and normal polish here. I'm super anal with how smooth the polish is, and I have never come out with any creases or bubbles. When I chose Japanese gel, it came in a pot and Carrie used a flat brush to paint it on. I did a mini-dance in my head when she did this because it painted on so buttery smooth. I once got a gel nail set done and that lasted for 6 weeks without lifting! That is how you know they use good product. I have some friends from other shops that need to get their sets touched up in less than a month. Overall, this shop goes really far for their customers. Whenever I want to fix the shape of a nail, Carrie helps without complaint. I've also seen them do a sample nail for a customer to make sure they could recreate exactly what they wanted. Just be clear what you want and are expecting of your service. It helps both parties! I've seen some reviews concerning a language barrier, but I've never had a problem using English in the shop. They have a lot of non-Asian customers, so don't let that deter you. read more

Very unimpressed with this salon - my mani/pedi was rushed and you can definitely see weird crease marks, bubbles and uneven coats. Maybe they're known for their gel? But this is NOT the spot for a regular mani/pedi. My nail technician was nice, but lacking in skill and was not precise at all. Service was also rushed because another lady came in, and you could tell they didn't want to stay a minute past closing. You know when you look down at your nails and cringe at all the imperfections? This was the fastest (most rushed?) gel mani I've ever received & I get gel manicures fairly regularly. I was in & out of the salon within 30 minutes, and my manicure didn't include hand massage, lotion, cuticle oil. (Not sure if it was supposed to, but that's my experience everywhere else!) I asked for my nails to be shaped square, but they were shaped more round in my opinion. I also felt that my manicurist cut too much cuticle, because the next day I had a ginormous painful hangnail! Also, they used a cheap gel base & top coat on me (Aimeili), I know because I've bought it on amazon lol. All this being said, the staff was not rude (though not super friendly either) & the manicure itself lasted and had not chipped when I removed almost 2 weeks later. This is the first time I had to do my own nails in over two years due to self-isolation mandates in California. Oh, how I miss my beautiful manicures by Yao Yao, my go-to manicurist there! I refuse to go anywhere else to get my manicures. I remember the first time I gave Yao Yao a very intricate nail design to do back in October for my wedding day and ever since then, I have been a loyal customer! From matte ombré nails, to floral designs, nail stickers and beautiful holiday themed designs, she can do it all! When she is not backed up with customers, she can finish my gel ombré nails in a little over an hour! Helpful Facts: 1. They have a Customer Loyalty Program that they don't advertise. You can either opt in for the $500 package, which gives you 13% on nail services or the $1,000 package that gives you 15% on nail services. For those that don't want to spend the full $1,000, I highly suggest the $500 package, let's face it you will eventually use it up any way! This is how their package works, if you purchase the $500 package, your manicurist will ring you up and include the 13% discount. For example, if you have a $60 nail bill, they will only charge you $52.80 and deduct it from the $500 package you paid for. For all you frequent nail goers out there, I highly suggest this package! 2. They have an updated nail art board of different nail designs with their promo prices and regular prices on them. When I went back there in February, I got one of their promo sets and it was much less than their normal price. 3. In addition to all these perks, they also offer monthly nail design promos. They usually have around 4-5 promo monthly designs they advertise. 4. If by chance your nails peel or chip within 7 days of your visit, they fix your nail or nails as a courtesy. This will most likely happen if you always get the Japanese gel nails, which is a higher quality gel than the American gel they offer. 5. They allowed Moana, my maltipoo in their salon. Of course, I asked them before I brought her or else that would have been rude. I am happy to know they are dog-friendly! Not only is Nail Leisure only about a block away from where I live, but they also do beautiful nails and it is always a joy to spark up a conversation with Yao Yao. My go-to nail tech here is Una. She does a really nice job at filing, shaping, and painting and she meticulously exams your nails to ensure there are no imperfections. The salon itself is not much to write about, since it's on the smaller side and sometimes doesn't feel like it's the absolute cleanest, but nevertheless, they have great hours, are very accommodating, and have an amazing selection of colors. American gel manicure is $25 and Japan gel is more than that, though it depends on if you get a design or not. They do have monthly specials based on some pre-determined designs. If you are in the area, I would suggest booking an appointment with Una. The other technicians are good too but I find her to be the best. I don't typical write reviews anymore but I wanted to for Nail Leisure. Visiting a nail salon isn't the best use of my time. However, my friend Mindy convinced me to try there foot scrub. Being a dude and visiting a nail salon is a bit intimating of all things but I went ahead and made an appointment to see what this foot scrub was about. To my surprise the salon doesn't have this funky stinky smell like the other shops my ex forced me to visit. I had to inquire about why it doesn't smell like those other shops. The manager informed me that they don't use the harsh chemicals like they do at the other shops. I was 20 minutes early and waited patiently for my scrub. One of the technicians offered to make me coffee/tea/water. Pretty surprised for this level of service at a Nail Salon. One of the girls sat me down to prepare me for the scrub. Sitting on this thrown was like being a king. I can see why women pamper themselves at these establishments. It was very strange that they were wrapping the fancy foot bowl with plastic and I just had to inquire about that too. She informed me that this was for sanitary reasons and I may get a foot infection if the bowl isn't clean. Good to know! Since it was my first visit, she offered to give me a pedicure for free with the scrub. SCORE! She sprayed some chemical on my foot then wrapped it in plastic, dunked my feet into the gold plastic wrapped bowl. Came back later and performed a scrub. The scrub felt strangely familiar with other home scrubs i tried BUT until I felt my feet. This scrub is some sort of jesus juice on crack. I've tried other DYI at home products such as babyfoot, salt/sugar/teatree scrubs, foot files, pumice stones, deadsea masks, and etc. My foot felt like a babies ass. Literally a babies ass. It was similar to how the babyfoot product would work but I don't have to wait weeks for the skin to fall off and deal with the mess. It was super smooth and I would say its better than babyfoot. I have been here several times and the ladies are generally nice. They primarily speak Chinese with limited English but pictures communicate what I need. The reason it's not 5 stars is two reasons 1) they take a long time for nails and designs. Minimally if you are getting a manicure and gel designs 1.5 -2.5 hours. Depending on how complex and how many nails you want done. 2) the price can really add up if you want foil, or anything special. I think on both occasions I left with a $80 + bill for the nails and then I added tip. Therefore you should be mindful what designs you get. Nail Leisure is a hidden gem tucked away on 1st Street just south of Huntington. They accept walk-ins and are friendly upon entering. The pedicure station makes you feel like a queen with the accent hanging divider curtains, leather seats and the foot bowls are gorgeous with an iridescent finish. The young lady that did my pedicure was gentle and did a superb polish job. The woman who did my gel nails did a great job, I got exactly what I asked for and more. The added bonus was a $5 discount with gel polish Yelp Check-In but I would've gladly paid the difference. I'm happy to have My New Place so close to home and open later than most places. They have regular polish, American and Japanese gel colors and a ton of designs to choose from if you're having trouble being creative yourself. Street parking isn't difficult to find a spot, you can use a credit/debit card and add tip on if you don't have cash. I was really disappointed in the outcome of the plaid design, it wasn't what I was expecting, the lines weren't even nor was the thickness of the lines. The girl changed some of the nail design without telling me. I get that the design won't be the same since it's a different place but she didn't tell me that she would putting a bigger size bead instead of what it was suppose to be. She didn't tell me she added extra ones.. I didn't notice until she had but on the last layer of coat. This isn't the usual nail place I would go to but I though I'll give it a try but I'm kinda disappointed. I paid $121 not including tip. They do charge an extra $1 for using credit card, not sure about debit. In my opinion I don't think this was worth $121. The technician skills were very beginners like , there is a thigh layer of hard gel under my nail on all 10 fingers. I asked her to try to get rid of it but there was still a huge chuck left.. It feels uncomfortable and I kinda regret getting my nails done. I'm kinda sad that the snow flakes were a different color , feels like it doesn't match. *Updated review* I was a first time customer and wasn't very happy with the results of my nails. I let the manager know. She called my cell the same night and apologized for my unpleasant experience. She offered me to come back and re-do my nails for free. The nail artist who previously did my nails also apologized, it was very sincere of her and I appreciate that. I came in the next morning and got my nails re-done with Carrie. Now it looks exactly like how I wanted them!! I called just to confirm and a lovely lady informed me that they were in fact open until 8 PM. *CUE THE HALLELUJAH CHOIR* (Fast forward to my actual salon experience) I did have minor difficulty parking and locating the salon, which is to be expected going to anywhere new, so worry not! :) When I DID walk in, I was instantly enamored with the overall ambiance- from the waiting area and nail desk decor all the way to the gorgeous foot spas set up in the back. I noticed a few moving boxes and being curious asked how long they've been in business (they opened in September 2015). I was able to meet and have a lovely conversation with Stella, who I presumed to be an owner. I got my nails done by the amazing Hui :) To be honest, I'm a very pessimistic person so I very much expected a rushed mani/pedi job which quite frankly is what I deserve for coming in so late and wouldn't have minded at all (I was really THAT desperate) but I'm glad to admit I was wrong to think so. I ended up getting a wonderful oxblood red gel manicure ($35) and pedicure ($18). I was so impressed with how meticulous she was, despite me coming in at 7 and them closing at 8. My review of Nail Leisure is long overdue! I first came here after my usual place was closed and had to seriously get my nails done ASAP. I've had my nails done by Carrie, Zoe, and another wonderful nail artist (unfortunately I've never gotten her name - but she's done my nails the most). They can do absolutely anything! I've had matte, 3D gel, marble, and other designs and gel polish done by them and I always leave satisfied and can't wait to come back when. They usually take between 1.5-2 hours to do my nails, but it's worth every minute. They are incredibly talented, especially Zoe who has done my marble nails, and the lovely nail artist that sits at the first station. They are patient and offer color advice and make sure your nails are nothing less than perfect before you leave. Many yelpers here have complained about them being rude, or refusing them service, but I've never experienced this and never seen them be rude when they turn away customers. Truthfully, they can get busy, even on weekdays. When I came in today at 2, I was their only customer, but by 2:30 their appointments had begun to arrive and they were completely booked by the time I left at 4.
