My husband and I just returned from getting a mani/pedi and I have to say it was one of the best experiences we ever had. First of all, the staff is super friendly. We were greeted right away and immediately seated in the plush massage pedicure chairs. The owner took really great care of my nails. It has been a long time since I have been able to find the time to get my nails done and this winter weather has really done a number on my poor cuticles so I was beyond thrilled when she gave my cuticles the TLC treatment they so deserved. Also, it's the small stuff that really sets one nail salon from the other and because I was in a hurry and could not wait for my happy toes to completely dry my nail technician added a soothing drop of oil on my toes and wrapped them in Saran Wrap so I could safely place my feet in my boots without ruining the polish and you know what?...it totally worked! Kudos for thinking outside the box!! Now for my husband he was just as happy as I was. The nail technicians were extremely sweet. Great conversations all around and just a positive group of girls for sure. He had his nails buffed and they were seriously super SHINY! I swear you could see your reflection on his nails. I moved to this area a few months ago from Los Angeles and boy has it been difficult to find a good place for my nails. Most of the places I have visited have been dirty and way overpriced, but what I've learned is that mani-pedi's here cost a lot more than they do back in LA. This place is smaller than others, but it is beautiful, very clean, the staff is very nice and the owner let me know that if my gel manicure chipped before two weeks that I could come back and have it fixed free of charge. I don't usually write reviews but I am new to the area and tried this place based on the reviews others gave. My service was the pedicure. All in all she did a nice basic pedicure. She took her time with the cuticle cutting and extracting any ingrown nails. My issue was she basically gave zero massage. She put lotion on my leg and rubbed it in. That was it. It took about 30 seconds on each leg. Everyone knows the massage is the best part of a pedi. My quest continues for a great pedicure place. read more

Nancy did my bikini wax today in preparation for a trip. First off, I have been to some really bad waxing joints in Bethesda (reusing sticks and double dipping in to wax doing Brazilian!), and some really upscale high price salons...NANCY WAS THE BEST I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I have sensitive skin and thick hair, and I had minimal discomfort getting bikini wax for the first time in a year or so (after a bad experience). She was professional, made sure everything was gone and even, and used fresh sticks and strips every time she touched my skin! I am so excited I found her, and her price is very fair! Hai does my pedicures every few weeks, and he is great! He is very accommodating and considerate to the customers needs and what they want to have done. Overall, I love this salon. Got my nails done here a few days ago! Manager was very friendly on the phone and very excited when I arrived in. My technician was extremely helpful in picking out exactly the color that I wanted, even though I was very indecisive! She had a hard time getting the previous gel polish off and ended up filing it off which I didn't think was good for my nails but oh well. Ran some errands after getting new gel polish on and realized a few hours later that one was chipped!! Came back and the manager redid it for free in less than 5 minutes! My daughter and I came here spur of the moment since our usual Bethesda nail place closed at 5 on Sunday - Nail Studio is open till 6- and based on the good YELP reviews we gave it a chance. We were so happy that we did! I got a pedicure and my daughter got polish change on her toes and hands. They were so friendly , accommodating and did an A+ job! I was excited to try Nail Studio after so many positive reviews, and scheduled an appointment for a manicure/pedicure for two people. Upon arrival, the staff appeared confused and flustered. After 15 minutes, we were seated for pedicures, and told that only 2 staff were available for 5 people (!!!). After 45 minutes of waiting - post appointment - I gave up on Nail Studio altogether. Crystal and Mingma were great!!!! I took a friend to get a pedicure with me and these ladies were actually awesome. Let's start with attention to details in all areas. You are greeted with welcoming attention. Can An escort to the area to hang your coat, offers of complimentary beverage and assistance with nail color. The salon has sanitary liners for the foot spa tub. That is an extra plus. You get your sanitized tools. Next, I have had many pedicures and sometime I am nipped and usually attention is just focused at the base. Crystal paid meticulous attention to my cuticles - the overall toe nails. I watched my friend melt in his chair from the excellent moisturizing massage that came with his pedicure. Good going. I probably won't try again because the place they sent me to made me wait for 15 min, then took the lady behind me first because she was more pushy. My friend and I made a reservation to come in the afternoon on a weekday and when we arrived it wasn't busy. All of the staff were very friendly and even offered us a soda or water to drink. I got a mani/pedi. Regina really took the time to make sure my nails looked perfect and I appreciated her perfectionism. Her attention to detail was great. These people are amazing. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure, and both were wonderful. The owner's son Hi treated me like (and called me a) princess. He didn't rush AT ALL, and took the time to make sure my legs and arms got a great massage. This was probably the best manicure experience I've ever had, and trust me, I've gotten a lot of manicures and pedicures in my life, including some at very expensive salons. I'm very confused how they have such a great rating. When I went, I had expectations based on the outside appearance that this salon was going to be great. Unfortunately, I was let down. The place was cluttered, dirty with nail shavings, the polish selection was very spotty and consists of old no name brands and to be fair, some that were better-- but over all, not a place I would return to. I really liked the technicians themselves, but I'm ultimately not there to see friends. Too bad. The staff deserves a better environment.... And so do their customers. Go across the street. It looks kind of clean. Service is ok, I wasn't 100% happy with my mani and they did redo two of my nails after I asked them. Also it was my fault I picked a color that was too sheer so I asked the lady to do three coats and even after that I could see my nail base so I changed the color and they redid all my nails, which I really APPRECIATE ALOT (well deserved extra tip). Updating a past review to give a much-deserved 5 stars. Nail studio's employees are the nicest and friendliest I've encountered. And the prices for downtown Bethesda are more than reasonable. They have an insane selection for regular and gel polish-arguably more gel than regular!- and they really care about your nails. I witnessed a woman come in and ask for "professional blue." The staff went out their way to suggest colors, even suggesting one they had in both gel and regular so her pedicure and manicure would match. My manicurist checked multiple times to make sure I was happy with the shape and color of my nails and did a fabulous job. Got a full set of sculpted IBD gel nails, only $55, a steal for sculpted tips, and they look amazing. The salon is clean, friendly, and they offer complimentary sodas or bottles of water. This place is AMAZING. I was curious about this new salon and walked in tonight for pink and white acrylics. The salon is super open and welcoming. Kimmie(Kimmy?) was my nail tech and she's super sweet and nice. For once, a nail tech asked how long I wanted my nails. Most just assume they know what you want/need. Kimmie/Kimmy (I'm so sorry if I'm way off girl) worked really efficiently and the results are perfect. I've never had better pink and whites. It is super obvious that the owners and employees are extremely dedicated to giving the customer the perfect experience, and for me they hit the nail right on the head. Not only is it the cleanest, the staff is always more than willing to make you as comfortable as possible. About a year so ago I went to this Nail Salon to get a Pedi-Medi. Well I had made an appointment to get them done but when I got there, I guess they were so busy they didn't book me! I went to this salon around 7pm on a Thursday. They close at 8 and I was under the impression that they wanted to leave. When I walked in there was man doing nails and he said "you have an appointment?" I said no and he said "we can't help you." Then after a few minutes a lady offered to see me. I sat down with her and she did my nails in about 20 minutes. It was very sloppy and she didn't even seem like she cared if they looked good at all. I'm pretty sure she ripped my off because it cost $60 just to get me nails done and then when I tried to pay with a card she suggested I use the ATM and give her cash. Umm hell no. I called at around 3:30 in one saturday afternoon to see if I could get a schedule. They said I could just walk in and they'd be able to accommodate me. And so I did. I waited probably about 7 mins (while trying to decide which color of nail polish I would pick from the selection they have- yes, it took me some time to decide lol!). To restate, I received absolutely horrible, rude service from a woman (possibly the owner?), who clearly did not want to do the pedicure because it was near closing time. DO NOT GO HERE. Today was my third time at this place. I live in Howard County but go to Bethesda about once a month as I still go to my hair salon that I love. Nail Studio is right around the corner so I decided to give it a try. The first 2 times were fine. This time I had an appt for a mani/pedi with Kayla. She did my toes first and then my nails. What I didn't realize until after all was done was that something was wrong with the polish and it was basically melting off my nails. I was in the nail dryer section and she came to check on me and noticed it before I did as I was reading a book on my phone the whole time and not paying attention. So she brings over the nail polish remover and brush and tries to clean it up and says something about it's because she used the fast drying coat. She says that once it's completely dry it will look fine. She comes back a few mins later and it's gotten worse so she takes off the polish on 4 of the 5 nails on my right hand and starts over. My appt was at 10:30am and told her before we started that I had a hard stop at 12pm as I had to pick up my son at 1pm from preschool. By this time it is 11:50am and I am starting to get nervous. I let it dry once again as she instructs and again same result. She takes off just one of them this time and repaints that one then asks me to dry again. You can imagine the result of my nails by this point. They were all uneven, lumpy and the middle one that she just redid was melting off yet again. This time she tries to just put on another coat of nail polish and the result is horrendous. At this point it's 12noon. I ask her to take all the polish off as I've run out of time. She says are you sure because one hand looks ok. Once she takes off all the polish I ask her whether she is going to give me a refund. She goes and talks to another lady and they go back and forth in a language I can't understand and they offer me $3. That's right. 3 whole dollars. They said they did my cuticles so all they can offer me is $3. I am flabbergasted. They say that they can try to fix it again but I tell them that I've run out of time and she's tried to "fix" it 3 times already. They, including Hai and some other woman, say that they already did all the work and they are offering to fix it again so all they can offer me is $3. I had already explained to them that I can't stay any longer and that I live an hour away so I can't just pop back in later. They did not care. I was speechless at this point so I just turned around and left. To make matters worse the pedi that I got is also a lumpy mess which I didn't think to check until I got to my son's preschool. I had them use the same polish for both my toes and fingers.. So basically I wasted an hour and a half at this salon and $37 (apparently 10% off if I pay in cash) plus $8 in tip that they had made me pay before they even put the polish on and I'm left with bare fingers and toes. NEVER GO HERE. It's ok until something goes wrong then they are terrible to their customers. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau. read more
