So after looking through various nail salon options around here in Bethesda I finally decided to try Nail Studio for pedi. I called at around 3:30 in one saturday afternoon to see if I could get a schedule. They said I could just walk in and they'd be able to accommodate me. And so I did. I waited probably about 7 mins (while trying to decide which color of nail polish I would pick from the selection they have- yes, it took me some time to decide lol!). But all in all, the service was good, the equipment seems clean, the cost is reasonable (cheaper than the one I go to in Rockville) and my toe nails are still fine even after 3 weeks! *My toe nails don't grow fast lol! read more

There is no other place in Bethesda as wonderful as Nail Studio. I've been a regular customer here for almost two years. They are friendly and extremely accommodating. I posted a negative review on 7/18/17 and checked back here to see what the latest opinions were of the salon. I have to say, I am very disappointed that the owner never posted a response. To restate, I received absolutely horrible, rude service from a woman (possibly the owner?), who clearly did not want to do the pedicure because it was near closing time. DO NOT GO HERE. Today was my third time at this place. I live in Howard County but go to Bethesda about once a month as I still go to my hair salon that I love. Nail Studio is right around the corner so I decided to give it a try. The first 2 times were fine. This time I had an appt for a mani/pedi with Kayla. She did my toes first and then my nails. What I didn't realize until after all was done was that something was wrong with the polish and it was basically melting off my nails. I was in the nail dryer section and she came to check on me and noticed it before I did as I was reading a book on my phone the whole time and not paying attention. So she brings over the nail polish remover and brush and tries to clean it up and says something about it's because she used the fast drying coat. She says that once it's completely dry it will look fine. She comes back a few mins later and it's gotten worse so she takes off the polish on 4 of the 5 nails on my right hand and starts over. My appt was at 10:30am and told her before we started that I had a hard stop at 12pm as I had to pick up my son at 1pm from preschool. By this time it is 11:50am and I am starting to get nervous. I let it dry once again as she instructs and again same result. She takes off just one of them this time and repaints that one then asks me to dry again. You can imagine the result of my nails by this point. They were all uneven, lumpy and the middle one that she just redid was melting off yet again. This time she tries to just put on another coat of nail polish and the result is horrendous. At this point it's 12noon. I ask her to take all the polish off as I've run out of time. She says are you sure because one hand looks ok. Once she takes off all the polish I ask her whether she is going to give me a refund. She goes and talks to another lady and they go back and forth in a language I can't understand and they offer me $3. That's right. 3 whole dollars. They said they did my cuticles so all they can offer me is $3. I am flabbergasted. They say that they can try to fix it again but I tell them that I've run out of time and she's tried to "fix" it 3 times already. They, including Hai and some other woman, say that they already did all the work and they are offering to fix it again so all they can offer me is $3. I had already explained to them that I can't stay any longer and that I live an hour away so I can't just pop back in later. They did not care. I was speechless at this point so I just turned around and left. To make matters worse the pedi that I got is also a lumpy mess which I didn't think to check until I got to my son's preschool. I had them use the same polish for both my toes and fingers.. So basically I wasted an hour and a half at this salon and $37 (apparently 10% off if I pay in cash) plus $8 in tip that they had made me pay before they even put the polish on and I'm left with bare fingers and toes. NEVER GO HERE. It's ok until something goes wrong then they are terrible to their customers. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau. read more

I walked in on a weekday afternoon to ask for an eyebrow wax. Luckily, it was early enough that it wasn't too busy yet. The salon staff were very friendly, helpful, and one of the aestheticians promptly took me to the waxing room to assist me. She was very gentle and quick. After years of threading, it had been a while since I'd gotten my eyebrows waxed and I was pleasantly surprised at how painless the whole process was. She checked several times to ensure that the wax wasn't too hot, and made sure to apply cooling lotion once she was finished. The price came out to $12, which is a much better deal than most salons offer in the Bethesda area. I'll definitely be back! read more

Walked in and was immediately greeted by a friendly gentlemen, whom I believe is the owner. They had just opened and were in the process of bleaching and sanitizing all their stations, this made me happy to know that they are CLEAN! He had a friendly, outgoing and positive demeanor, was happy to assist me in finding the right color for my pedicure and full set. I explained that it was my very first pedicure and I was nervous and needed someone who was gentle. He assured me that Kayla was the right person and he was definitely right. Kayla was very kind and gentle as ever during the entire pedicure. They are a little on the pricey side, I paid $80 for a full gel set and a regular pedicure (this is not including tip). And their website needs to be updated because the times are wrong so please call before you go in to make sure of their business hours. Overall, I made the right decision going here today and will be a monthly customer now. So disappointed in this place. For a $46 acrylic fill with gel polish it should have been much better. The salon and people working there are very nice but the actual nails are horrible. My nails are incredibly thick and uneven, much shorter than requested, all different shapes, not filled far back enough, and the polish is sheer even after a discussion promising me it would be fine after multiple coats. The pictures don't even show how bulbous the nails look, but after applying the acrylic the technician only filed down the top and bottoms leaving the middles crazy thick and rediculous looking from the side. The requested shape was square- these nails are far from. I normally go to a place that does $18 fills because it is the closest place to my school but I have been disappointed and decided to try a nicer place with the hopes it would be better. This fill cost me 2.5x as much and I am even more disappointed. read more

A special retreat! This family run salon is really different than any other nail salon that I have gone to since moving to the area. I came here a week after they opened and i haven't gone anywhere else since. I was surprised to see how much the staff takes pride in what they do. Nancy and Hai ( the owners) care about the customers and take their time to make sure they provide the best service. The salon is bright, cheerful, and incredibly clean. Drinks are offered, as well several types of manicures, pedicures, waxes, and massages. i have never been pressured into upgrading my service. A few times I needed to have my mani/ped done quickly, and the staff gave me the mani/pedi at the same time, it wasn't a problem and the service was still fantastic. One time I was in such a rush that I chose a color that I hated and I came back the next day and they changed the color for free. The nail design and massages are incredible. Not to mention the free paraffin wax included in the manicure service. Overall my experience at this salon has been great and I feel as if I have found a special place to go. read more

I have been going to another nail salon in the area for over nine years and decided to go to Nail Studio to try something different. I am so glad that I decided to walk into Nail Studio. I was greeted by Hai immediately when I walked through the door and he then gave me a menu to explain all of the different services that they offered. I am a mother of two small children and work full time so when I go to get a mani/pedi I expect to relax and be pampered during my services. I have been going to Nail Studio for several months now and I am always treated like a queen when I am there. The best part of my pedicure is that that they do not rush and they take their time and rub my legs for a long time. Ladies isn't that the whole reason we get pedicures, LOL : - ) I highly recommend Nail Studio, they give great pedicures and my gel manicures always look great. Overall, I've had less than stellar experiences here, but one specific incident the last time I visited prompted me to write this review. I have been getting acrylic on my nails for years and never once had an issue with nail fungus. However, after going to this studio a few times, I developed nail fungus on one of my fingers. When I asked my technician about why the fungus appeared, she said it was because last time I got my nails done, they must not have filed the acrylic as close to my nail as it needed to be. Unfortunately, the last time I got my nails done was at Nail Studio, so this directly reflected the quality of their work. When I asked if it was safe to acrylic and paint over, she assured me that it was not a big deal. I askef if the acrylic should be taken off to let the nail breathe, and she said no. Seems strange. When asked how I can effectively remove the fungus, she said the only way was to pay $35 for a new acrylic set. No thank you. Not only did this nail salon cause a medical issue for me, they didn't seem to know how to deal with it once it happened. I don't trust their ability to do a nice, clean job. read more

Nail Studio is fabulous! My first visit was so great I cannot imagine ever going anywhere else every again. I am a fan for life! What an upbeat and highly professional staff! Hai gave me the best, most exquisite acrylic refill and gel. He is meticulous and quick, but clearly not in a rush. Nancy gave me the best pedicure I've ever had, and waxed my upper lip as gently as possible since I flinch easily. Nancy waxed my lower arms so gently that I even remarked to her the waxing bordered on feeling good. Every measure is taken to ensure everything is meticulously clean and relaxing. The lounge chairs in front of the pedicure pools give a great massage, too. It is a popular place. I made an appointment and think it's a good idea. But if you prefer to just walk in, I saw each walk-in greeted immediately, and if she couldn't be seen right away, she was advised of the realistic wait time so she can decide to wait or come back another time. My entire experience was personal and professional. I was treated with tender loving care and left feeling uplifted and renewed. There is a marvelous positive vibe at Nail Studio I felt as soon as I walked in. And oh, how great I looked when I left! I can't wait for my nails to grow so I can go back! read more

My friend told me about Nail Studio when it first opened and I haven't been anywhere else since. I really don't like going to nail salons because they always make you feel so uncomfortable. Nail Studio is the complete opposite. Everyone is always so friendly as soon as you walk in the door. The place is very clean and the service is awesome! Without a doubt, THE best customer service I have ever received in a nail salon. I treated a friend to a pedicure for her birthday, and the staff was so accomodating and made my friend feel special. We parked nearby in a metered spot, and as the expiration time approached, my friend said something about hoping we didn't get a ticket. Instead of hurrying to finish our pedicures, one of the employees went out to our car and fed the meter! I won't go anywhere else in Bethesda for treatments. A real gem!!! read more

Addicted!!! I came in 30 min to closing tonight and asked if it was too late for a full set with gel polish. The manager asked who wanted to stay late and Crystal immediately tended to me. She told me to show a picture of whatever I wanted and she could do it! She is amazing! She knew exactly what the nail trends are and helped me select this awesome matte and add in glitter. This salon is horrible. It doesn't even deserve one star. When I first walk in the receptionist goes " oh look your friend is here" referring to the only other African American girl in the salon... What? Are all black people suppose to know each other. And that was just the start. I came in at 640pm with two 7pm appts for pedicures. We do not get seated until 7:15pm..... But at the same time another women comes into the salon after us and is seated. THEN!!!.. The worst begins. We've been sitting in still water; no jets for 45min without any employee acknowledging that we were there. 7:55 rolls around, mind you the salon closes at 8 and we are STILL not serviced. While we were sitting in the cold water. Other clients were being offered drinks and several employees walked out the door with other employees waving them "bye"! Then one employee asks another one if she can do ONE pedicure.. Wth. We tell them why only do one of us if the salon supposedly closes at 8. We tell them we're not getting our toes done anymore and we're leaving. We HAVE to ask for a towel to dry our feet. What were we gonna do... Walk out the salon at 8pm with soaking feet... This is my first time at Nail Studio. I usually never venture out to new nail salons because I am very particular about my acrylic nails. Unfortunately my usual nail technician moved further away so I decided I would try my luck at Nail Studio. I made a last minute appointment for a fill in and christmas design! I brought in a picture of a design I saw on their yelp page and Hai was able to replicate it beautifully and perfectly. He went above and beyond to make sure I loved the design. Clean, excellent service. Huge place, always takes walk ins. Pricier than other places nearby by a couple of dollars, but might be worth it for the peace of mind. I trust this place to be clean and provide excellent service - something they haven't yet disappointed me on. I usually get gel nails and pedi. Gel nails - if they aren't rushed here - last 3 weeks easy. Only once have they lasted less than 2 weeks (which I hope was a fluke). A regular mani pedi is $39. I just received it so not sure how long it'll last, my manis usually never last long bc I'm always using my hands. Pedicures are always very meticulous. I appreciate especially bc I'm a runner. Haven't been here in a couple of years but the quality seems to have gone down. My nail tech wore used gloves for my pedicure and the paint was uneven. The person next to me had the same issue and she had to ask her tech to file her nails as they had done no shaping. The owner does a great job but won't be rushing back without an appointment with him specifically. read more

So this is the first time I've been around this area so my mom and I decided to get our nails done. I looked on yelp for some help and most reviews on here were good so I thought we would give it a try. The place is clean the staff was very nice. The service however though was definitely not what I was expecting since the ratings and most reviews on this place were pretty good. I got the spa callus removal pedicure one up from the regular pedicure and there was no massage which was a big disappointment because it says extra 10minutes massage for pedicures that were not the basic one. Then when she started the manicure literally filed my nails pushed my cuticles and trimmed them then buffed them then i washed my hands and she just colored them. No, cuticle remover, no cuticle oil, no lotion, no massage again. This was my experience here i really wished i had gotten the great experience everyone else did but I didn't. I definitely will not be trying this place again. I hope that those who do still try this place gets a better experience then I did. read more

So walked into the salon this afternoon at 12pm, didn't leave till 3. The manicure i asked for was a Gel acrylic set- $56.00 and regular pedicure $27. After the first attempt of Nancy doing my nails they were extremely thick, my cuticles weren't cut and she continued on to paint them. Long story short she painted Gel onto my nail bed and on the sides of my nail and almost looked annoyed with me. I looked at them and said "do you mind just making them less thick, as politely as i could. Her annoyance with me continued but, she fixed them. I didn't want to cause any trouble so i didn't bother looking at them the second time. Mind you this is a $56 dollar manicure and i shouldn't have felt so uncomfortable. So i got up said thanks and walked to the pedicure chair. She didn't do my pedicure another women took over and did an OK job. She painted my toe nail bed but fixed it later after i asked. Then i noticed sitting in the pedicure chair just how bad my nails. (nails missing polish my nail beds were coated in Gel) After i asked Nancy if she could fix polish she missed (2 nails were half painted). She said ok and i sat down. She got angry quick and said "you know if you wanted a manicure you should have asked" i said immediately that's what I asked for? She quickly prompted to say "no you asked for a gel full set not a manicure" and i looked at her completly confused and said "you mean to tell me im paying $56 dollars for a manicure and not getting my cuticals cut or nail beds cleaned? and she said "no thats $8 extra! Eight dollars extra on top of a $56 dollar manicure YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING. My nails beds looked horrible and no one explained to me the manicure part is seperate from getting tips put on- AN EXTRA $8 charge! When i went to pay the total was $85. $53 for the manicure because i paid in cash, which gave me $3 off and $27 for my pedicure. They she said it was an extra $5 to take my Gel off my toes.. when i was never told about it. This will be the end for me here. I litersally cant say enough good things about this place. I LOVE IT! Best customer service: attentive, polite, fast best service: hands down the best manicures and pedicures I've ever gotten. Everyone is very attentive when I go oin, and they spend a good amount of time making sure my cuticles look perfect before they apply nailpolish. The reviews prior to mine suggested that Nail Studio had potential to be a good find in the land of manicures and pedicures. I'm glad I went with my gut feeling and made the drive to Bethesda! The staff were INCREDIBLY friendly and accommodating- offering me a bottle of water both when I arrived and "for the drive home". Not only was everyone very, very nice (with a pretty good sense of humor as well), but the salon itself was bright, clean, and simply (yet nicely) decorated. I received both a manicure and pedicure- I was NOT pressured to upgrade or add services (huge plus in my book). Quite to the contrary, I was told (more than once) to just relax, read my book, and enjoy myself...and I definitely did just that! This is honestly the first place I have been to in the DC area that met all my expectations at one time: laid back atmosphere, high quality manicures/pedicures (with GREAT leg and hand massages), and very reasonable prices. Went from 5 to 1 within a year. Once this place got popular/busy, the owner started getting snippy and rushed. 2 visits ago she yelled at the woman doing my nails to hurry up. Last visit, the woman who did waxing spilled oil all over the back of my pants, tried to play it off like nothing happened, and when I saw it in the mirror and asked her about it, the owner overheard and said, "don't worry it will come out in the wash." Oil does not mix with water, but I decided to give her benefit of the doubt. I left a generous tip as I always did there (even with that blunder and no offer to pay for dry cleaning or anything) and left. As expected, it didn't come out in the wash. I called the owner to let her know and she rushed me off, saying she would call me back. As expected, no call back. Shame- this place used to be good when it first opened. The owner's son Hai was always a sweetheart. He was the place's saving grace, but now I'm through with the whole place. read more

I have been using this nail studio for many years. They do good work but unfortunately they seem to have trouble honoring appointments when you book for 2 or more people. This is the second time I have had problems. The first time they took 3 of the 4 people on time and the fourth person was taken when everyone else was done. Today they took one person on time and did come to get the second person until after the first person was done. So you end up being there twice as long. We left after the first person was done as we did not have time to wait. They apologized but it gets old after the second time. Just honor the appointments. read more

I got a fairly good pedicure but my nails were a hack job (literally). I asked for coffin nails after carefully reviewing their price list and asking questions. Not only did the man charge me extra without explaining that shaping my nails in the coffin shape was extra, despite the fact the price sheet said one price for a full set irrespective of shape, but he did an absolutely horrible job. My nails were awkwardly crooked, my natural nail was exposed on several nails, and the shape of my nails resembled a stiletto shape rather than coffin. I stumbled on Nail Studio after getting a blow out at Dry Bar and attempting to get a mani pedi at another salon on the area. When that salon said they were too busy for me after I had already paid to park I was forced to pull up Yelp and see what else was in the area. That's when I found Nail Studio and after calling to see if they had availability that told me to come right over. I worked with Kayla and she was AMAZING! Not only is she super talented but she's so sweet. She takes her time and gives you suggestions on colors and styles without being super pushy. I'm very disappointed about the gel manicure I got here- it has only been a week and it's already chipping all over. I have never had that happen with gel before. Not worth the $65 for the mani-pedi. This is a wonderful family owned nail salon in the heart of Bethesda. They also have very reasonable prices. Every time I walk in, I am greeted with a smile and a cold beverage. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Nancy and Hai (the owners) make me feel so relaxed and pampered. Their nail designs and hand/foot massages are top notch. The manager simply asked if any nail tech felt like staying and told me that they were all tired and didn't want to do my nails.
