I went here for a standard pedicure and it took an hour, something that normally takes 30-40 minutes. The color wasn't mixed well and you can tell on my toes. My dip nails are lumpy and are not shaped well. I spent over 2 hours at this salon and the pedicure and manicure were subpar at best. The employees are nice but I would not come again. read more

I walked in here once on a whim and haven't gone anywhere else since! Appointments definitely aren't necessary, unless you want Tam (and you do, he's the best but others are good too). This isn't a frou-frou salon or anything so if that's what you're looking for this isn't your place. However, it's affordable and they do a good job! Before, a mani used to be $10 but I do believe it's gone up to $12 now. Not a huge problem though considering some places charge you upwards of $20! Like I said though, it's not the fanciest of places. You get what you pay for. While Tam's the absolute best at everything (acrylics, mani's, EYEBROWS) everyone else there are darn good too. I just got a full set done with gel and my eyebrows waxed. It came out to $45 and since it was done by Tam (the owner)- I didn't have to pay tip. I've been going to Nail Tech for about 3 years now- but I'm a very infrequent client only because I rarely have time to pamper myself. I probably get something done once every 4 months. This morning I showed up (Sunday) at 11 AM and as I was checking their door for the time- I discovered they open at 12 PM. I was about to drive away in disappointment when I noticed Tam's wife waving at me to come on in! I was so thrilled because who knows when I'd get another chance to get my nails done. When I walked in, Tam greeted me with his big welcome and as always said- "HI! It's been awhile! You're always soo busy - I understand- good to see you! How is your mom?" It's so nice to be recognized even if you only come 3x a year. He did a great job with both my nails and brows. If you don't know- you can get pink tips put on- so with the gel- you don't need a bit of polish so it looks great forever. As a mother of a pre-schooler- this is what I need. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the place could use a bit of an upgrade to look nicer and more polished- but the price and quality outweighs the aesthetic appeal of this place. Went to this nail salon today and I left very happy and satisfied. I got the French tip manicure. It was done with pink powder. Tam worked on my nails and he did an outstanding job! He paid very close attention to my cuticles and he was gentle with me and cared about my concerns. Tam has great hospitality. I had to wait a little before I got my nails done and apparently they offer the customers free drinks while they wait! Awesome right?! The salon looked very clean and sanitized. She was friendly and gentle but she seemed spaced out or on meds and did not bother to cut my cuticles after barely pushing them back. She then painted my nails and my cuticles with uneven coats of polish and sent me on my way. Luckily I know a bad nail job when I see one. No apology or acknowledgement that he wasted my time. My 1 hour appointment ended 2 hours later. My nails are fab and the rest of the team made sure that I got a quality nail job but I will NEVER let Lonnie touch my nails again... Tam is EXCELLENT at eyebrows! He is very detailed, compent and does not "over shape" your brows. Currently $12 for eyebrows, and worth it! I also love that he does not "hound you" by marketing other services. When salons do that it can be quite annoying and irritating. read more

I'm not picky about getting my nails done and really, I only visit a handful of times a year. I don't have a ton of requirements when I get my nails done, but here it is: - I want to relax - I don't want to be man-handled - I don't want to break the bank I was greeted several times when I came in. My pedicure was done nicely and gently and the lady (I didn't catch her name, sorry) didn't pull my feet like they didn't exist (thank you!). Sarah did my french full set and she asked quite often throughout the entire process if I was ok, if I needed something to drink (they serve soda and water for you parched ladies), and if I was ok with the look of the nails; not many of nail ladies even bother to speak 2 words to you! She had to pick up the phone a couple times and was extremely polite about it and apologized perfusely. She didn't (trash) talk in Vietnamese (in fact all of the ladies here didn't); I hate when you visit a nail establishment and that's all they do (yes, I can understand their smack talking) The place was well-kept and clean (chairs aren't torn and someone swept right after Sarah had finished cutting down my French tips). I learned that this place is a Family Business (big plus!) I've passed by this place so many times, but always thought that it would be pricey given the fact that its right off of 355. The quality and price are definitely better than 95% of the places in Mo Co. I'll be visiting here more often. Thanks guys! read more

Nail tech is a true gem! I'm so happy I found this nail salon. Everyone who works here is so welcoming and comforting especially Lani and Sarah! It's so convenient to me especially being in Rockville and town center area. I've only been here twice so far but I'm making this my permanent spot for my gel pedicures. I decided to give it a chance today because it's been a while and I thought they might have changed poor sanitary practices. Considering the Coronovirus spreading, you'd think they want to take extra precautions and practice good hygienic habits but it's not the case. I asked the owner, tan, to wash his hands before touching my face to do my browse and he refused. He said he just used hand sanitizer. We all know that's not the same as water and bacterial soap. He said if I don't think it's good enough then I don't have to get serviced. He refused a second time I asked, so I left. Shame on him. This is my absolute go-to place for my nails. My mom and I have been coming here for YEARS. Tam kills it and my gel manicures last for almost a month! I constantly get compliments on the shape of my nails how glossy they look long after I get them done. Tam has a great technique of having you dry one fingernail in the gel dryer at a time and painting the different nails by alternating between hands - this is so the gel doesn't drip and dry weird if your other finger is being painted and the angle of your hand doesn't affect the nail polish. He's very patient and takes amazing care of his customers! The shop is more accommodating than any other nail shop I've been to. They're all very sweet and trust me, as a Vietnamese woman, they have never said one negative comment about customers, even the rude ones. The nail technicians really get to know their customers. I'm not sure why there are negative reviews here and there for Nail Tech, but if you don't like the way your nail shape or color turns out, that's on you. Nail technicians can't read your mind. You've gotta communicate if you aren't satisfied with something! Speak UP! And the technicians at Nail Tech, in my experience, have ALWAYS made sure I'm alright with how my shape is looking throughout the mani/pedi. 10/10 would recommend Nail Tech! read more

I've been here 2 times for a pedicure and once for an eyebrow waxing. I mostly go here because it's pretty close to my place and it's cheap but no frills. About the pedicure: I think it does depend on who you get. I've had a time where a lady cut me and made me bleed and didn't even acknowledge it as if I wouldn't notice the pain. Haven't gone back to get a pedi since. The place isn't super fancy and is pretty no frills. I stick to standard colors so color selection isn't usually a problem for me. About the eyebrow waxing: I read on yelp that Tam does a great job with eyebrows. Now Tam is a great owner and knows how to treat people and really make them want to come back. The rest of them, not so much. He did an okay job with my eyebrows. He was a bit rushed since he was also doing someone's nails at the same time. I think he might have cut me a bit. First off. I wish I could give this place 1000000 stars! I have been a client now for a few months. Let me start by telling you about my friend, my nail artist and most of all the only person I trust to do my nails at this point. His name is Tam. And let me tell you this man is absolutely amazing. He is so kind. So welcoming and most of all the biggest perfectionist I have ever met. Some days I go to him and I don't have any idea what I want... and I leave every-time amazed by his creativity and his work. If I have an idea, he delivers even better than the pictures I show him. Something else about this place... you truly feel apart of there family. They all help each other with ideas and bounce back in forth in a teamwork that is really enjoyable to watch. Tam takes his time. He really makes my nails look absolutely perfect every time. My mother was in the beauty business and she always said " look good, feel good!". Tam makes me feel like a million bucks! Nails always on fleek! :) I recommend this place 1000%! Also they take temperature on arrival, you do have to wash hands immediately after they take temperature. I always have felt safe there Covid wise. Anyway! 3.5 stars. I've been going there pretty regularly since I was a teenager. The service is friendly and fast, plus pretty cheap - about $28 for a mani & pedi. They do waxing and a few other spa services as well. Tam (the owner) is awesome and no one will do your eyebrows like he does for that price - he will actually make the shape work with your face. I am taking off a star and a half because sometimes the manicures feel rushed and don't really last as a result. And if Tam isn't available for an eyebrow waxing, sometimes I get less than wonderful results and end up finishing the job at home. I went in yesterday after not visiting this salon for 2 years because I was in the area. I had Tam do my eyebrows ($10) which look great, hence the 2 stars I'm giving. He was in the process of doing my fill for me then stopped halfway and had a lady who I believe is his wife finish my fill (with gel). DO NOT GO TO HER!!!!! She never asked me what shape I wanted (when I walked in my nails were perfectly square from getting them done at another nail salon) and slightly rounded them but the end result was each nail is a DIFFERENT length and shape, basically. She put a coat of clear gel on my nails, had me put my hands under the uv light, then put the white color on that I picked out, then used a DIFFERENT bottle of clear gel and then had me air dry my nails (I'm pretty sure this IS NOT HOW TO DO GEL NAILS). I was one of the TWO customers in the salon and they had no one else waiting to be helped so I don't see why my nails looked like crap. And I found it weird that both tam and his wife kept telling me over and over to "Please come back and see us!" No thanks. I'll go somewhere else in Rockville and pay more or trek to Silver Spring and pay the same price if not cheaper and get better results! My total was $32 for a "gel" fill in and eyebrow wax. Men face a social stigma with getting a pedicure. I'm numbered among them. But after several decades of avoiding this, and after walking for 3 days in New York City, my feet were particular tired and I didn't feel like trimming my toe nails that are farther out of reach. Wow, what a delightful experience. The room itself is fairly basic, so it's not a higher-end fancy ambience of a spa, but for me, that's okay. For the low price to high quality service ratio, very worth it. Give it to me I'm worth it. The pedicure starts off with a warm foot bath. That alone makes it worthwhile. The chairs have mechanical massage, okay for a few minutes, but I'd rather have real hands of a masseuse any day. Then the various elements of the pedicure proceeded, each stage librrating my toes from micro-aggressions of toe jamb, sock fragments, dead skin build up, and whatever else. The finish was a warm towel after filing off the feet bottoms' dead skin layers to make 'em oh so smooth! Now my toes are free!! and my feet are happy! Sarah was friendly and sensational! There are 3 parts: Tam for eyebrows (YES!), bikini wax (HELL NO), and nails (sure). GO TO TAM FOR EYEBROWS. I am from LA, I have gone to the fancy eyebrow bars, but this guy is GREAT. Totally reshaped my eyebrows after 2 visits and people are always commenting... I wish I was kidding! DO NOT GO THERE FOR A BIKINI WAX. DO NOT DO IT. I went twice because I was already there for eyebrows and thought the 2nd time would be better. False. It was not. I do not believe the woman has any clue what she is doing. It is not a clean job, she consistently asks "is that enough?" and it is not. If I am going to pay for a Brazillian, I expect there to be NO hair. She didn't hold skin tight, I came out bruised, and there was no "after care" -- no powder, no making sure there wasn't wax running around extra places it shouldn't (yeah, that's a GREAT experience). It simply wasn't a good bikini wax. What's worse: SHE OPENED THE DOOR ON ME WHILE I WAS EXPOSED ON THE TABLE AND STARTED SPEAKING TO PEOPLE IN THE SALON. I do not mean she opened it a crack; the door was fully open. If I can see other patrons' faces, they could see my face and my lady bits. NOT OK. I had to YELL at her to get back inside and shut the door, and she went "oh, sorry, I had to tell someone something." NOT AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME YOU DO NOT! I also had Tam for nails, he was awesome, stayed in my timeframe, and was attentive. I cannot speak for anyone else on nails, but I don't think waxing lady does nails, so you have a better chance of a good experience. This place isn't what it used to be, which was good mani and pedi for an equally good price. The color selection is lacking. Even when you find the color you like, it's clumpy and creates streaks. Even though my guy was very detail-oriented, the nail polish did the opposite of what he intended. The owner's wife rushed through two of my friends' mani+pedi with terrible results to show. (They were both done in the time that it took my guy to do my mani and pedi). The prices have also gone up from $28 to $34, but the quality has gone down. I tried this place thanks to the Yelp reviews, and it's as good as people say! Walk out of the Town Center, north on the Pike, and it's half a block, just past the fire station. Nail Tech is in an older shopping plaza, but it's clean and spacious and nicely set up on the inside - and they have the best prices in the area. This place is by far the best in the area! Like every place some people are better than others in each shop. Tam is the best eyebrow person I have ever been to. He can wax them or tweeze them, whatever you personally need. He shapes them to the face of every individual that sits in the chair. I still go back when I'm in the area and will hold off if I have plans to be around there in my "window before the bear returns" lol. Went back to get my eye brows done since the last time...it has been a while so I didnt expect Tam to recognize me, but HE DID!!! He was like "wow I havent seen u in about a month, welcome back!" I was so pleasantly surprised that he remembered me. As for the eye brows, never failed my expectations. This guy is one of the best around the area to give u perfect eyebrows for so cheap. It was like BAM WAM THANK YOU MAM and we were done. Best second experience ever. Usually I would have to double check the mirror after someone waxes my brows, with Tam, I can walk out confidently without checking my eyebrows and it doesnt fall short of spectacular. They've a big team of people working there, it's a spacious nail salon as well as catering to haircuts. Their price for manicure and pedicure is only $28 I don't think I can even get a pedicure for $28. Their massage chairs are really comfortable. They stayed open on a sunday till 6:30 even though they close at 5PM. They had other customers there as well. It was 22 for a pedicure so it's not bad I'm used to paying between $20-25 so its fairly priced. The girl who did my nails knew I was concerned about getting my callouses removed. She did a really good job! the massage chairs are a bit old, but it still worked fine till the end of the pedicure it kind of gave out. She gave me a light massage and usually I get a bit extra because I don't get any colors painted =p. This location had 8 pedicure chairs, and 8 manicure stations. Also had salon seats for haircuts and I'm assuming they offer massages too because it seems like a full service spot! Tam at Nail a Tech is an eyebrow genius. I come back to this salon even though it's not the world's best mani pedi. (Nail techs here can be hit or miss, but I should say I hate getting my nails done, and my idea of the perfect mani pedi would be four techs working at the same time, getting me out of the chair in 10 minutes flat...wait, is this a new business idea? NASCAR nails??) But wait - back to Tam. Best eyebrow wax you'll ever get outside a high end salon. Fast. Thorough. And Tam has a great sense for shape and width. No "too thin" brows you have to pencil until the grow back. I have very sensitive skin and Tam's waxes are easier on my skin than doing my own plucking. read more

i was desperate to have my nails re-done for a special event and didn't have much time, i so called over and was told that there was no wait (on a saturday afternoon!!) the location is very convenient, close to downtown rockville. note that parking is very limited, but since it wasn't a busy day for them, there was no issue. i walked in, and was told to pick a colour, and directed to one of the open stations. i did tell my nail technician that i only had 20 minutes, and asked if this was sufficient time to complete the manicure, and she said yes. for $10 (before tip), my manicure included: *cuticle softening/soaking *nail clipping/shaping/buffing *cuticle cutting *hand & wrist massage *polishing (with base & top coat) *polish clean-up (most salons don't do this for you) *drying my only gripe is that the process took about 35-40 minutes altogether. when i looked at the clock, the actual manicure (minus drying) took about about 25-30 minutes. also noted that as soon as i sat down at the nail drying station, my nail technician basically disappeared (i usually expect them to stick around until my nails are dry so that they can check the nails before i leave the salon). while i was a little late to my event, my nails looked fabulous. i definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a cheap manicure that looks great. read more

Posting this as a second hand review from non-yelper female friends who have all had terrible experiences here. I don't know why they push the gel polish so hard, but the consensus is that you'll get the high pressure sales pitch to get it done to the point you feel awkward getting regular polish. Then, when you come back to get the gel removed, not only will they charge an extra $5 just to remove it, they will cause you some PAIN scrubbing it off. No concept of being gentle, they'll cause perfectly strong nails to crack and chip, and your fingers will feel the effects literally for weeks. Yikes. read more

I was in town on a long business trip and needed a gel fill in and a pedicure. I read the reviews which seemed mixed but i really needed to go and it was on my walk back to the hotel so I went and was impressed from walking in... decided to go. The first night was so booked he gave a wait time of "30" minutes- I was actually impressed because most salons say 10 minutes and its never 10 minutes - you end up waiting 30 minutes. I asked if the next night was better and he said yes. I did go back the next evening and the same time and was whisked away and put my feet in hot water. NICE!! I had Tammy and her mom (combo team) and she was wonderful. I had a nagging ingrown toe nail and Tammy worked on it until she relieved my pain - I was VERY grateful, and also happy she spoke great English. because if the great reviews on eyebrows I decided at the end of the night to get my eye brows done and was also pleased. My skin is super sensitive so she suggested that she do it the old fashioned way of plucking...
