The facilities are nice, with glass beads, paper lanterns in the shape of hot air balloons, and collage of hand fans creating a nice atmosphere. I've gone to Nail Works for my nails, a pedicure, and eyebrow waxing, which no issues. I decided to try their lash service. HORRIBLE IDEA! I told the lady I wanted a natural look and she put too many individual/cluster lashes on so I was not happy with the service. She cut them down to make them look natural. During this time my eyes were burning and starting to turn red. She told me to keep my eyes closed and put a fan on them. There wasn't much that could be done because of the glue. I was charged $50 but later saw on the website the service is only $35. As the day went on my eyes continued to be red, burn, and start to feel swollen. I woke up today, the next day to swollen eye lids. The lashes were stuck even after trying coconut oil to remove (which worked well for lashes before.). I saw an article about someone having a similar bad experience because someone used nail glue. I was horrified but tried Acetone to see if it would work... AND IT DID! She used NAIL GLUE on my lashes! I will be reporting this business to the better business bureau and licensing departments because this is a health violation. I will never go back there again. The guy (danny?) who was working on my nails sat there and complained about the noisy kids area ( very unprofessional). He was rude to me about the color I chose, and just in general. Walked in and asked for a manicure. Not only did they try to push me into getting a gel. They scoffed when i said no. Middle of the service as i was washing my hands he grabs a check book and writes a check. He then says you pay before i paint. Now my friend is treating so i call her over and as soon as he realizes that my friend is paying everything is good. He can paint my nails now. So then he paints my nails and i go to dry them. I grab my coat and he hurriedly says "no! No coat!" And then glances at me then the door. I go whatever and dry my nails. I go over to my friend and tell her whats going on and she decides that she's not going to tip my guy but tip hers. So in order to do that directly we tell them we're going to the atm to get cash. My nail tech decided he was going to fillow me around the mall to make sure we're good on our word. So now im pissed because I've been treated like a thief for no reason i can see. I came here for a gel manicure because the ones I had got done at another salon were getting raggedy. From time to time i get in the mood to get m nails done and i am currently in one of those moods. but this place...was not it chile lol when i walked in i asked for a gel manicure and was immediately seated at a station. The women who did my nails brought over a book that had the gel colors they offered which wasn't a lot and had many basic colors. literally they had like red, orange, blue, some glitter and sparkles but that was it. so i chose a color and she started to do my nails. one of my nails still had gel from my last manicure and she filed them off using the electric filer. I thought she was going to soak the one nail but it came off pretty easily so i was with it coolio. she starts the manicure my soaking my hands in warm water and applying cuticle oil to cut the cuticles thats great. anytime i go to get my nails done after manually cutting the cuticle they take the electric lets call it a filer again and go over the top of the nail to smooth it out. this didnt happen today. i like the electric filer because it smooths the nail out and also gets at that cuticle a lil more. so that was disappointing that didnt happen. when she started to paint my nail she wasnt able to get the sparkly color i requested because someone else was using it so she asked me to pick another color for my ring finger which was fine..... fine until she brought over this huge basket with the rest of the gel colors (yall know how they be having them on the ring...yea that basket). im like why you didnt bring this over to begin with ? i like having to decide between waffle house yellow and school bus yellow like girl i need options ! lol that was a bit of a smack in the face because now i feel like she did that so i wouldnt take all day picking a color. when i first walked in the lady that eventually did my nails had just walked in from what i assume was a break so maybe she was ready to get back to work idk. and when she gave me the skimp book she was kind of rushing me then now that i think about but yea the experience here was not it. and the nails are okay but i really wish she would have spent a lil more time on the service that was being offered. so i likely will not be visiting here again read more

You know how you always look for a specific nail shop to go to and it's not usual one that is in the mall.. Well for me it is. I started coming here a few years back and been going ever since. Every time I walk in no matter how is busy I'm always greeted and I'm always able to choose who I want to do my nails . My experience at other salons are when you want a specific person you may not can get them they try to push someone else on you.. Nail works is not like yeah they will let you know who you want if their busy and how long it'll be. I usually go to Tommy or Tina for my Tommy is such a gentleman and he'll talk to you the whole time and makes you feel like you've known him for years. We talk about family work life etc. Then when he does my nails he's always telling me step by step what he's doing and why he'd doing it and it makes me feel great that he keeps me up to par with everything. Now Tina is completely opposite she very quite but she does make small talk however she's very focused most of the time and she a perfectionist and she makes sure that she gets everything out (omg I had a hang nail and she was getting it out and I thought I was going to die but I didn't and I didn't bleed or anything ). She takes her time especially for me pedicure I love it and I always feel I can just sit back and relax with them lol.. Now Calvin is the babe lol.. I love it when he's there he's like the life of the party he does nails too but he's normally always busy and someone is always in his chair but no matter what's if I say can you please do my eyebrows he'll take a few mins away to do just that and they always come out amazing and I never have to say "Can you just get this one spot etc etc ". Gigi is AMAZING !!!! They normally close at 7 I called because it was almost closing time and my daughter needed a last minute eyebrow wax for her upcoming birthday dinner and her normal waxer last minute canceled and Gigi told me to come on over and she'd do it for her even though they were closed. She's very polite and talks to you like your family , very very genuinely respectful and nice woman. I recommend this place 1,000% ! Awful place. The second I walked in the ladies were bossing me around, trying to push me to get shellac and to convince me to not cut my nails down. I am the customer, don't my requests matter?? Their color selection is awful, no quality brands of nail polish, and the tech tried to make me stick my fingers in one of those tubs of nail polish remover with a dirty overused sponge in it. I told her to use fresh cotton and remover. She left traces of my old polish, hacked at my cuticles with the nippers and cut me FOUR times, did not file well and left my nails jagged. I decided to let her finish because I was in desperate need of a polish change, but the polish was a mess and on my skin as well. I will NEVER go back. Which is a shame because its right near my office. Worst waste of my time and money. read more

Had gel polish for a French manicure. Within a day of getting my nails done the gel began chipping. It was a new nail tech (didn't catch her name) that did my nails the last time. After this experience I went to Angel Nails on Virginia Beach blvd when it was time to get my nails fixed. The shop was open on Sunday so we decided to give it a try. The services we ordered was a Mani and Pedi The store is clean and spacious and the chairs were comfortable. The experiance was nice and the staff was pleasent. THE PROBLEM : Its been about 4 days since the service and my nails have already chipped and lost the shine. I was really upset to spend $35 for it to only last 4 days. I am sorry to say I think the products used were subprime and there for did not last likte it should have. 100% the worst manicure I have ever received. I got dip powder, she barely used the grinder after so it looks like I have blobs on all of my fingers. Halfway through my manicure, she dumped the powder on accident. No big deal except she poured it all back into the container mixed with the white base powder remnants from the first coat, leaving my nails with white streaks. They almost look scratched. When I nicely brought it up to her and asked her to fix the shape a little or what I can do about the white streaks, she just said "yes yes they look good" and pushed me along. I'll be going to another salon tomorrow and getting them soaked off and redone. Such a waste of $45. The photos don't even justify how chunky they look in person. I've been going to Nail Works at Pembroke Mall for years. I love all of the staff--they make me feel so welcome, and they do beautiful work! I recommend the Shellac/gel polish--if you've never tried that, it lasts so much longer than regular polish and doesn't damage your nails! They like to play music from the 60s and 70s, which I really enjoy hearing. The salon moved to a busier spot in Pembroke Mall, but even with more customers, I hardly ever have to wait long as they have brought on more technicians. If I ever do have to wait, I just run over to Target or Kohls--very convenient location! read more

This place is the worst . Over priced and disgusting . They cut your cuticles (which is illegal in va) dropping tools on the floor then using them in people . The guy doing mine cut me 7 times and my friend got about he same amount and they both told us it was because we had dry skin . Uh no . Besides being gross the nails were just as bad . The ONLY good thing about this place was the location. The guy at the counter was nice.... they did not give me options for what type of pedicure I wanted, so I didn't know what they offered. So I just said a regular one.. I wasn't pleased with the reactions of the ladies looking at the guy doing my pedicure, as if the guy was doing it wrong and they were talking about it and didn't do anything to fix it. Very uncomfortable! Sitting here getting a pedi done by Cathy and she hasn't tried to make conversation with me what so ever. She keeps speaking to the other techs then looks at me and smiles. I noticed that I had some sort of reaction to the scrub she used on my legs and all she did was shrug her shoulders and ignore me. Extremely rude! I will not be coming back to this nail salon, nor will I be recommending this place to any of my friends. Loved this place. Tommy took his time and really did an awesome job. Went in with a painful ingrown nail and he fixed the problem immediately. this place is garbage. The lady who did my pedi/mani was named Tina and did not speak a word of English. Water for feet was burning hot, when I told her to clip my nails, she only did my toe and uneven. She put lotion between my toes a million times, never had this done as this promotes fungus growth. My legs and feet smell liked olive oil, I believe this is what they used to massage them. When doing my mani, she had my hands on a dirty towel with other people's nails. I requested someone else to inform her that I needed a clean towel. Payed $40 for a job that I could have done. She did a terrible job even putting the nail polish on. It is all they way on top of my cubicle. Informed the front desk lady and did not get a discount or anything, she just said that she will let her know.. Terrible job. So, I called today to see if there was any availability for a walk in pedicure because I was in the area and didn't have time to drive to my usual place. Convenient location. Not a wide polish selection. The shop was decent, love the crystal decoration. My technician didn't speak any English at all, which was fine, however when I said what color I wanted and he didn't understand, that was an issue. The pedicure was fine. A little overpriced for what I actually received, again no big deal, this isn't my usual place and 5-10 extra isn't going to be an occasional deal breaker. I asked, who I'm assuming is a manager or something (she was there one translating the whole time and pretty involved in today's interaction) if i would be done within the hour. She assured me I would be. Okay cool.....so we get to an hour later and he was just finishing. Alright! So he sat me down at the drying machine, I didn't have time to sit here for 10-15 more minutes so I asked for the drying spray. Again, maybe because the nail tech didn't understand me, he sprayed PAM on my wet polish, which messed It all up. I didn't have time to sit here for him to re-paint and then dry so they said i could come back. I had an appointment I had to be at. So I left and then came back. They gladly offered to repaint my toes, but when i asked for maybe shellac finish for the inconvenience for messing up, going past the time they had said and then spraying my toes and sandals with Pam....she said It would cost an additional $15. NO thanks. Not very good customer service and I wouldn't recommend this shop to my friends or family. Go up the road to one of the other 2 salons within a mile from here and save some $$ and frustration. read more

They are filed insanely short, the color is all over the skin around the nail, there are several air bubbles on the color. Calvin is the best! I went in this afternoon for a mani/pedi, and requested Calvin. He has been there for 13 years and has skills like none other! I started with my pedi and he could see I was tense and hadn't had my feet done much all winter. He brought me the menu and asked which kind of pedicure i would like, I said it didn't matter I just needed to get my feet back in shape for spring and summer. He suggested the Chamomile Treatment said it would help me to relax. He also told me about the special they were running today. That must be the most any one in a nail place has ever said to me! So I took his advice and had the treatment. It was great. Not overly fragrant, but just right. Each product he used was in individual packets not in a giant tub that everyone puts their hands in after touching funky feet all day. Just seeing that made me start to relax instantly! So, I soaked, he scrubbed, and buffed, and OMG he massaged my heart out. Then he massaged a mask onto my feet and legs and wrapped them up in glorious hot towels! We chatted about a lot of different things.He seemed actually interested in what we were talking about and when II wandered off into bliss he got the hint and kept quiet. He never left me hanging there for one minute even while the mask was on. Then he removed the towels and massaged more! My toes got more action than they may ever seen! It was wonderful! I can't say a lot about my mani because I didn't get anything more than a basic, I didn't need much done. He didn't do any cray filing or over buffing, or cut my cuticles all to hell. Thats a nice change. Most people want to go nuts on my little fingers! I'm so glad he didn't. I have to say the service I got today was beyond great, I would gladly recommend read more
