Unnecessarily expensive ... I'm a guy and get absolutely nothing and charged $80/90 buck no gel no polish. I also feel like they make up rates based on how they feel in the moment. Also you would think a salon charging this much would have comfortable massage chairs, bring you complimentary drinks, make you feel pampered. No, the chairs are hard and feel like accent chairs that belong in a dentist waiting room. I feel rushed and annoyed. I've been to places and have gotten gel and designs for cheaper. Called in the lady who answered was very nice I was able to get an appointment same day in 30 min. The place is nice more modern then the usual nail salon. The ladies are nice. Quality sucks paid $125 for mani and pedi with an over lay. With that I was expecting top notch nails right? Wrong! My cuticles are horrible and my over lay is bumping not smooth and a worst of all my "gel" polish is starting to chip 3 days later. Waste of my money and time. read more

Just requested acrylic REMOVAL. They stuck me with a girl who had no idea what to do. She had to ask the older worker what to do. Then the older worker noticed stoped her after she saw she was just grinding the acrylics and MY OWN NAILS down to nothing. the older worker tried to showed her how to remove it by shoving the another fake mail between but the younger worker shake her head and just filed my nails all down to the point where they became so thin they blend and broke off. read more

I wanted to go to this salon because a lot of my favorite fashion bloggers visit here and I've been wanting to get chrome nails for the longest time!! Unfortunately chrome nails were WAY out of my price range (80 bucks) so I opted for a different design with silver tape and glitter accented nails. The man working in the front was very kind and great at giving recommendations and answering our questions about prices and color matches. My nail tech was a little stop and go with the loose glitter powder when applying my nails, seems it was kinda tricky to get on but the result is so pretty. I got this gorgeous rose gold shade. My nail tech was jasmine and even though I was really bad at explaining she was really patient with me and literally gave me the design I wanted. They way they shape nails is good and everything comes out super even. Plus $35 for gel is not bad. The interior is really cool and clean and the location is nice. After you get your nails done you can go eat some cute desserts and take cute pictures by the painted walls. (The nice front desk worker gives you water or tea while you do your nails too) read more

Oh boy. This is a really cute nail salon located adjacent to the little Tokyo. Parking is 2hr free with validation and they do have a lot in the plaza. My friend got her nails done in gel and we both got regular pedi. I got the upgraded pedi with nice honey scrub. I really liked the whole experience. My pedi was immediately chipped the same day even after I took enough time to dry it. Bad luck but the fact that this price charges 30-40% more than my go-to salons made me wonder if the quality of work is that much better than the lower priced salons. Not sure if I will be back because I live pretty far from downtown but definitely a cute place to check out if you are around the area. read more

I will start off by saying I am very picky about nail salons ... My friend recommended this spot to me ... and I was not disappointed. There is a parking lot right night door that is free with validation. Starting off right :) .... The place has no front wall so it gives the place a nice vibe of "your outside, but inside". I was greeted right away by a friendly face. I was offered water or tea (nice touch) and shown the selection of colors and nail polish brands. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like the small pedicure chairs, but they were very comfortable, and the pillows added extra comfort. Went to get my girlfriend's nails done, and for the first time, got my thumbs done as well. Honestly haven't been to many nail shops but this place was clean and did a really nice job as my girlfriend told me. They really took their time to make sure every nail was just the way it should be, they were generous. They gave a very detailed explanation on the different nail polishes they had and showed us a huge selection of colors. From what I've heard they don't use cheap nail polish and they are very sanitary with their equipment. My hair stylist is down the street from Nailbox and she recommended I walk a block away to get my nails done. It's a super cute and elegant shop-- love the setup and the overall ambiance. Hints of pink and rose gold, wood, and wall of plants. I don't normally get nail extensions, but because my nails were really uneven/short I decided to get them done. My first visit wasn't too great. The nails came out fat, uneven, and poorly shaped. At first I thought I needed to just get used to them... but after sitting on it for a couple of days... I knew I needed to come back to get them re-done. I was dreading this phone call because I hate being "that customer" BUT I was so happy to receive nothing but friendly/welcoming vibes from the owner. I came back and they fixed my nails free of charge without making me feel awkward. If you ever get gel extensions-- I highly recommend Rainnie!! Love this place! Not only is the place so chic but they have excellent circulation and their whole front of the shop opens up so you get fresh air circulating and the fumes aren't nearly as bad as other salons! They offer a great number of different brands including CND Shellac to Presto and an amazing variety of colors. I feel their prices are more affordable than other salons (in general) - they actually scrub your feet with the regular pedi, instead of being offered only in a specialty package. They cleaned up my nails nicely and my cuticles looked great - the only complaint I had was that my technician worked on my cuticles a little too close to comfort but she was very apologetic and the work was great that I didn't mind it. My gel polish lasted me about 2 1/2-3 weeks which is amazing for my fast growing nails! :) I don't get my nails done up regularly but when I have work trips to go on or travel (which can be often depending on the season), I've realized I always think of this place and though it's a little far out from the valley, I don't mind going to downtown for it! My appointment was originally at 12pm but, I kept calling to have my appointment early due to having free time which they were kindly willing to change it to 11:20am. Gel starts at $35 and for art it's $2+ my nail technician was very sweet and kind to me and recommended some places to see/eat since I was traveling on vacation, which I think is very helpful. The process was fairly quick being that my nails were bare, and that I had them already shaped. In total my nails were $45 which I think in my opinion is cheaper then most asian styles gel places. First time I went to do my gel pedicure and the results were awesome! Later on I went to do a gel manicure. The lady that was responsible for my manicure was Vietnamese and seemed really polite. However she was extremely careless when it comes to removing my nail polish, buffing, and shaping my nails. Not only she didn't remove my polish carefully, she overcut and overbuffed my cuticles and it was So PAINFUL when she wiped acetone over it. I told her that it's hurting me but she reply saying that she did so many manicures she knows what she was doing. Later that week, my cuticles were bleeding and painful throughout the day for almost an entire week. I called in to ask what I should do, and the manager called me back with apologies. This is the definitely place to go if you are planning to have a treat yoself day. The decor is absolutely beautiful and the place itself is so clean. They somehow manage to not have that painful chemical smell that most nail salons have. I went with a group of girls and everyone's nails turned out super nice-- all their technicians seem very good at what they do and have great attention to detail. It's a little bit pricier than most salons, but definitely worth it for the finished product and the experience you have while you're there. I came here on my day off work for a mani pedi. I brought my mom with me. Regular French tips for her and a basic polish on my toes and gel for my hands. Katie was my moms manicurist and she did a great job, and was sure to make sure my mom was happy with the thickness of her white tips. Aria did my gel manicure and I haven't been happier with a set of gels in a while. Went last night for a regular manicure and pedicure and ended up coming home with a bleeding toe. It's very painful to walk and still bleeding today. The lady seemed like she didn't know what she was doing and continued to paint my nails even though my toe was still bleeding. The only reason I decided to come to this place is because they assured me they use new tools for every guest but i never saw them open new tools for me. I love Nailbox! The interior is well designed, clean and stylish. Great vibes for relaxing and getting nails done. The open concept is the perfect solution for a well ventilated salon! I've come here three times now. Unfortunately, the first manicure I received was underwhelming. I wanted to get gel extensions and a glass manicure. A huge part of this was my own fault for asking for extensions last minute. However, Lambert took full ownership over the rushed work and made sure to get me in to have everything redone. I think the hardest part about living in LA is finding a nail place that has super easy/convenient reservation process, parking, decent prices, and a wide selection of gel colors. This place fulfills all those needs! I was able to book my appointment through Yelp with Lambert and had a response within minutes! They were able to accommodate me with short notice. There are different types of colors available at varying prices for gels ($30-$45ish) so just be aware when picking your colors :) There is a nearby parking structure that is 90 minutes free I believe so that's definitely a perk for anywhere in LA! I was overall very excited about finally trying this place out as the aesthetic is on point :) and I've had my gel polish on for about a week and they have yet to chip! read more

I've been coming to Nailbox LA for over a year for a monthly gel mani and pedi. The staff is friendly and wonderful, and Elizabeth is very prompt with her responses on Yelp messaging whenever I need to make a change in my appointment or if I have any questions. I commute from Orange County and because I always book a month in advance, sometimes there are things that come up or plans that change. My nail artist is Kaylie and sometimes Jasmine does my nails. They're both very good with their work (and I can vouch for the other girls as well) and true professionals. I can be quite indecisive, but Kaylie makes good suggestions re: my nail shape and color if I can't decide. I always appreciate input from the artist. I feel very comfortable whenever I am here for my downtime and I am always happy to make the commute every month. read more

Got an acrylic manicure here and my friend got a gel manicure here. It was absolutely amazing. Everything chips on my nails it didn't chip and it stayed shiny. My friends gel manicure is now 3 weeks old aside from being grown out it looks brand new. I'm so mad I live in Seattle and this place is in LA. PLEASE open a salon in Seattle!!! I will promote you! This is THE BEST nail salon!!! I'm a super spaz perfectionist and notice every detail that isn't symmetrical or clean. Nailbox LA doesn't disappoint, regardless of the technician which is extremely rare. They take their time and really ensure you get a perfect mani/pedi. I've gotten both gels and natural nails here and both have outlasted and looked better than any other place. THIS IS A GEM ALSO, the spot itself is super cute and modern, they validate parking and there are a bunch of those shops and food spots to explore if you have the time. Super recommend!!! read more

Let me preface my review by saying the nail techs are friendly, professional and provide a good service. However, the owner Joanna, who often mans the front, is an unprofessional and incapable person who lacks manners, etiquette and the ability to apologize or accept blame. I will never return to this establishment and will make it known to others. I scheduled an appointment a few days prior for a gel manicure and pedicure at 3:30 pm on a Wednesday- on my way home from work. I arrived on time and checked in. I only waited a few minutes until my pedicure commenced. The other techs were busy. During that time another customer walked in and Joanna assigned the next tech to her. My tech saw the concern in my face since I had an appointment. She then went to bring it to Joanna's attention who sent back the following message...UNLESS I SPECIFY THAT I WANT BOTH SERVICES THEY WILL NOT ATTEND ME AS SUCH (Wow now that's an industry first, especially since I wasn't asked when I made the appointment or checked in). I then asked the tech to please call Joanna over. Joanna approached me very aggressively and unprofessionally saying that was their policy and I said that was not right because I had an appointment for both services at a specific time. We strongly disagreed and then said that since they don't make that policy known and it's not aligned with industry practices then I would make sure it's at minimum noted on Yelp- which she did not like. A few minutes later she came back and told the nail tech to only finish my pedicure because she was not going it service me for my manicure because it was her right. I said ok and that we al have rights and I would do the same. Look- we all make mistakes. As a business owner you need to service your customer base (which I was and had been to Nailbox on multiple prior occasions) and sometimes admit your errors walk with your tail in between your legs. Be cool and be honest, especially if your charging the highest prices in he area. BTW...thanks for cancelling the manicure for the later time than my appointment...I was able to make it home on time to relieve my nanny (hence the appointment). This is a follow up to the anticipated comment from the "customer service" representative---proof that your customer service still sucks but I can appreciate how you need to defend your bosses bad behavior and endorse it. Oh, wow. This was a delightful morning in the Arts District! My husband hung out in the bookstore while my 34-weeks-pregnant ass got her nails did! I'm gonna say it- BEST MANI EVER BEST PEDI EVER they took their time without being too slow and cleaned up a lot of sloppy jobs done before them. My baby shower is next weekend and I needed my nails to be perfect. They are. The decor will suck you in immediately. Open air, options for organic, chemical-free gels, and the most gorgeous chairs and plants everywhere. It's open-air, too! Ever since I moved downtown, I've been hesitant to try any nail salons around the area mainly because it was nearly double what I used to pay. Up until yesterday, I had been driving half an hour to my usual salon. I can happily say that I've found a new go-to nail salon! Although their prices are steeper than I'm used to paying, I don't think I've ever had a better nail job. My nail technician was Katie and she was fantastic. Alas! An excuse to pamper myself came about and I thought I'd try out a mani at the Nail Box. I made an appointment for a weekday afternoon, corresponding by emails through the yelp app. The response time was quick! When I talked to the receptionist she said they do accept walk-ins but it does tend to get booked & busy, especially on the weekends so it getsa bit difficult to accommodate them. The place is so cute, charming, and refreshing to the eyes. When you get to the salon, they give you the break down about your options. You can choose between a variety of colors from Essie & OPI lines. And they carry another brand that costs $5 more because it lasts longer and has less chemicals in it. They also offer you water or hot green tea, which is nice. As for the actual manicure, I thought it was very clean and thorough. It looked meticulously done and I was happy with the results.
