On my way into to the salon for my pedicure appointment, I slipped and fell on a very muddy sidewalk. Everything was covered in mud: clothes, shoes, coat, pocketbook, feet, hands...I was more embarrassed than hurt and probably would not have gone in if my friend wasn't waiting there for me. I slipped my shoes off as soon as I was in the door for fear of dragging mud through the whole place. Immediately, three different employees asked if I was okay. They had me get out of my muddy clothes and gave me a long terry cloth skirt to wear. The person who did my pedicure took extra care, massaging the areas where I hit the pavement, gently cleaning off the mud, bringing me water, and gave me an excellent pedicure! The employees could not be nicer! They even brought over a fan for me to dry my polish so I didn't have to get up to go to the dryers and could stay sitting with my,friend. THEN, they brought out my clothes, beautifully laundered! And they had washed my (washable) shoes by hand. AND, they would not charge me anything for all the extra service and attention. BOO! I have previously given this place a great review, but in the last year I've had 3 bad experiences. I bought two gift certs totaling over $150. Luckily I noticed they would expire in 3 months!! There are laws against that, so I went back and they took the dates off. A few months ago I got a premium spa pedicure, which was FAR less luxurious than before. I was told the girl was new and they took a whopping $5 off an $85 service. I left upset that I still paid $80 and got someone who didn't know what they were doing. Still loyal... Today I called ahead to see if they were busy. I was encouraged to come in and they were really busy. I wanted a spa pedicure that I've had dozens of times before. Even though a hand mask and aromatherapy has always been part of the $85 package (and in the written description) I didn't receive them. The owner had told the girl to skip them and move on to a person waiting for a standard pedicure. I told the owner I was upset and she carried on about ME misunderstanding... I didn't misunderstand anything... I came to relax and left aggravated AGAIN. DON'T ORDER A PREMIUM SERVICE if they are even a little busy, you WILL get short changed. I suggest that Miss Kim pays $85 for a pedicure to remind her of what type of service she would expect for that. I went there due to my regular salon being unavailable and recommendation from my sister. Service was standard. However, I got a gel manicure and the very next day some.of my nails started peeling off. Secondly, two different people did my manicure and pedicure. Obviously, I would have to tip 2 people. I had already tip the pedicure lady even before the I started my nails. I give my tip to the manicure lady and the lady goes what about her? No tip? Sooooo rude and tacky. I feel like this place tries way to hard to make themselves look worthy of expensive prices. A fancy video of "their services" played on loop and expensive products that no one has ever heard of were on full display. I walked in and although everyone was friendly, they were in my face too friendly. However, I did appreciate being offered coffee, tea and water almost immediately. I received 2 massages, paraffin wax and a heated weight on my back which I could have done without (maybe this is why they charge so much money?) The most awkward and uncomfortable part of my experience was that there were 2 women doing my nails, one on each hand....my arm kept cramping up because I had to reach over for another tech to do one of my hands. The Asian owner bossed around the other woman who was Spanish and scoffed at her if she wasn't doing something properly...thinking maybe this woman was in training, I asked how long she worked their and she said 9 years! The ladies did a decent job with details but definitely not worth the insane prices which aren't even labeled properly on the board! I also had my eyebrows waxed which was definitely not well done. I come home to find many hairs were missed. The wax was no where near hot enough Services: Gel with acrylic (no tips) Eyebrow wax $75 before tip! 2 different women did my nails so I felt obligated to tip both! This is still my go-to nail salon when I'm back home visiting family. I'm reducing my last review by one star, but I would call them a solid 4.5 stars if I could. They're well staffed so even when they're busy they are great about being able to get you in last minute. Their staff are also great at what they do - every time I've walked out with a high quality manicure that lasts a long time. I also love the little extras - tea to drink and shoulder rubs are great. I think their prices have gone up, and I wish they were more up front about their pricing. It wasn't on their web site, so it's hard to judge the cost before you go. My most recent visit was for a manicure and pedicure. I wanted to enjoy a nice relaxing massage, so I went with the La La Spa Pedicure. Their web site listed a special for the La La Pedicure & La La Manicure for $65. The pedicure was AMAZING. It included an extra long leg & foot massage that was just the right amount of pampering. This costs $45 on its own and is worth every penny. When it came time for the manicure, I was underwhelmed. I wanted gel polish and expected to pay a bit more for it. I also asked the manicurist if she could do a snowflake on one nail. She must not have understood, because she ended up doing one nail in just silver. It looked nice, but wasn't what I'd wanted. The manicure I got didn't include any massage or exfoliation. Since she didn't ask me what kind of manicure I wanted when I sat down, I would have to assume I didn't get the La La Manicure. But my total cost was $80, $15 more than the La La Package without the spa treatments. This is the first time I've had anything other than a great experience, so I would still recommend them. I am sorry but it has been TWO days. I go to school in the area and I needed a place in the area. They messed up the first time and I let it slide. I went for a full acrylic set before going away on a trip and I did not like anything. My nail even broke off and I had to get them re-done on my trip. I went back and she gave me three fill-in manicures for free on a gift certificate. I needed a fill in and went in on Thursday. Today is Saturday and my nail just broke off. SERIOUSLY TWO DAYS??? She even charged me for this ugly french design even with the free fill-in....almost $20 for something i could have done at home. Not to mention, my cuticles are still shit and the shape inconsistent and garbage. I wasn't even doing anything that would have made it come off like that. I am going and getting my money back because I am furious. I wish I could give NEGATIVE stars. I hate this place and these people should not have their license. (NOT TO MENTION, I consider myself to be pretty flexible but these people are ridiculous. They are constantly changing employees and moving them around which results in nails that look completely different.) read more

I am used to spending 16-22 for a pedicure so I don't know if it justified 27 but it was good. I did not receive water or tea like other reviewers mentioned. I also did not receive a massage after any of my services. The manicure was average to below average, definitely NOT worth 35, I get similar service for 20. Got polish on my skin, didn't take her time. Etc. This place seems very overpriced, I have no problem spending more for better quality but that was my the case here. This is my favorite nail salon in Montclair. Love the pedicures and gel manicure. Polish lasts a long time and the few times I have had gel polish start chipping too soon the owner either fixed or did a whole new gel manicure no charge. Love the women who do pedis - good massage. Can get busy on the weekends - I would suggest an appointment. Had a few times where I had to wait a while between my pedi and mani but it is rare. Amazing pedicure but the gel manicure I received was terrible. She was so fast she didn't cut my cuticles and when I asked her to do so she said she would at the end, which she didn't. She filed my old gel off and never cleaned off my hands so my nails were full of file grit and the gel is already peeling off less than a week later. When she was finished she just got up and walked away to the next person. I will not be back for any sort of manicure! read more

I went here once a few years ago and I was very happy with my manicure, although I wish I could say the same about today. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would probably give my gel manicure a six as the tech, Chris, applied the coats extremely thick, and when she applied the topcoat I could tell it was not covering all the corners of my nail. Everything just seemed very rushed. Also, the gel is touching the skin on the side of my nails. The tech did not even file those areas down to smooth them. Gel manicures should not be touching the skin as it will cause them to lift/peel prematurely. My tech seemed very tired and unenthused while doing my nails and kept carrying on a conversation with the client next to me and the tech doing the other client's nails. I could tell she was also frustrated and annoyed with having to remove manicure. I find it extremely unprofessional when nail techs speak in their language to the others around you and it's obvious they are making fun of you or talking about you in a dispositive way. Also, when it came time to massage my hands she barely did so, she basically just gently rubbed the lotion in and applied absolutely no pressure. Everyone around me was receiving nice work, and I feel very slighted. I guess I did not look enough like a rich Montclair resident. I felt very uncomfortable while I was getting my nails done, and I won't be going here again :( read more

This place is way better than the other salons in Montclair and half the price. Very spa-esque decor and relaxing music. Super friendly staff took me in late on a Friday night for a gel fill and a pedicure. Wonderful color selection and you can buy the bottles. They do gel, silks, fiber glass and French. All the technicians sculpted well and I got two back rubs while I was sitting in the chair, followed by the standard but not rushed hand massage. Plain old pedi with amazing leg massage was only $27 and they offer you free tea, coffee, or water (I went with a big cup of green tea). The gel fill (and trust me they used a lot b/c it's been four weeks since my last fill) and the nail polish bottle I bought came to $50. Street parking on a nice side road can get tricky during rush times, but seriously a great and secret find! Although now that I am telling you all, I will have to make reservations in the future instead of calling them last minute from the highway... Also as sit here drying my toes, I'm reading the brochure and they have certified massage therapists and facial people too in case you want to extend the spoiling... read more

I have been on the quest for an awesome pedicure for a while now, and thought I'd check this place out. I called to see if they could take me at 2 on Sunday. They said yes, when I got there there were 2 people waiting, I was seated before them since I had an appointment (score). The entire pedicure took 20 minutes. They performed all the steps advertised, yet did them on fast forward. She didn't do a good job 'cleaning' my cuticles and extra skin (one of the major reasons I get pedicures is to have them cleaned up nicely). The staff was friendly and curteous. I was asked if I would like some tea or coffee when I was seated. It may have been because it was a very busy Sunday, but I don't feel the $27.00 price tag was worth the services. I noticed half way through my pedicure that there was a list of pedicures on the wall. I would've gladly gotten a 'speciality' for $45 if I was offered. I called Nail & Body Work a couple of weeks ago to make an appointment for an eyebrow wax. I was told no appointment was necessary and to just come on by (I liked these guys already). I showed up about 20 minutes later, and as I walked through the door I made a last minute decision to also get a manicure. They immediately took care of me. My eyebrows got done in a cinch and within 5 minutes I was getting my manicure done. The place is large, nicely decorated and very clean. The staff are polite, skilled and very efficient. The eyebrow wax was $10 and the mani was $13. The lady (I forget her name now) quickly, and skillfully made my raggedy nails look amazing. I even got a nice little shoulder rub while my nails dried. :) All in all I was in and out in about 25 minutes, and the cost was only $23! It looks pretty low key from the outside, but once you step in it looks like you're entering a 5 star spa. It is beautifully decorated, large, and very clean. The staff was extremely attentive and seated me right away. I came in for a gel color manicure, and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of options they had that other salons did not. Jessica worked on my nails and she was great! So friendly and helpful, very patient with my questions. The process took about standard time, I was in and out under an hour. I have been going to Nail&Body Works for quite a while And every time has been a wonderful experience but not today , when I walked for a manicure pedicure as usual they were very busy I was asked if I had an appointment, I said no and the owner said she could not help me today, the receptionist said I could come back at 4:30 pm I came back at 4:30 pm and the receptionist said I have to wait 10 minutes. Then I see 3 people walking in for pedicure, the owner tell them they can go ahead and sit down in the chairs, when I asked the receptionist she said they had appointments at 4:30 pm. I end up waiting until 450 for the pedicure to start. The male owner apologized but Kim owner usually friendly ignored me completely.
