What a total bummer that this sushi joint is directly below a 24 Hour Fitness. HEY... I used to be a competitive bodybuilder and powerlifter, so I "get" the noise, but geez, it is annoying! I had their specialty G.E.M. roll - delicious - and my standard philly roll - very good. One thing I noticed on the menu was Chicken Katsu Don... and you KNOW what THAT means... I'll be back to try it! Staff were friendly and attentive, and prices are on par for sushi joints in the area. Go here.

Food: 3 out of 5 Par happy hour food. Ordered the tuna poke, chicken karaage, and hamachi sashimi. Good stuff but nothing to write home about. Service: 4 out of 5 Straight to the point Environment: 4 out 5 Sit-down restaurant with a sushi bar. Ambiance was lacking. Overall: 3.5 out of 5 Par sushi restaurant. Happy hour specials were mediocre and prices weren't really a special.

Haven't been here in awhile but thought we'd stop in for a quick lunch. You can't go wrong with the price of the bento box. Just enough to keep you satisfied. I had the chicken katsu, ca roll and tempura. Love the fact that you get an onion ring for the tempura. Hubs had the beef teriyaki, some kind of fish that wasn't salmon and tempura. For $15.99 you can't go wrong. Place was a bit empty and the waitstaff was not fawning but decent to get more tea and take bento boxes away when done. Maybe next time I'll try the sushi or sashimi to decide if it's worth it to come for other things!

I have been going here for years, back when they first opened. The decor is simple and has plenty of TVs to watch sports etc. Service is always fast and prompt. The lady was always checking on us to see if we needed anything else, etc. I'm sure they are under new ownership because I've seen a few new additional food items, and I'm not complaining. This is part of the reason why I came back again so soon. We ordered: 1. Calamari- this is a must order every time we go here. Lightly fried with onions and jalapeños. 2. Gyozo - I always crave this and it always hits the spot 3. Beef short rib - perfect portion and perfect balance of meat and fattiness which I love. 4. Age dashi tofu - pieces were a little bigger than what I'm use to but perfect balance of crunch and firmness. 5. Crunchy giants - this is a tasty one. To be honest I've tried a bunch of the signature rolls especially when I'd go here and they have happy hour specials 6. Honey moon roll- if you like honey walnut prawns this is for you 7. Bento box - huge portions for the price. We typically get anything they have they are all good. 8. Yaki udon - This is new. The noodles tasted so fresh, chewy, and bouncy. I'm not sure how else to describe it. You can just tell when you require take a bite, it's not some version of a chowmein. We got this one with steak. 9. Sake sampler - highly recommend if you're not sure which one you like.

Lunch Bento Box with Salmon and Beef Teriyaki and California Roll ($15.99)

Naked Fish has been around in Millbrae since I was in middle school and now I'm almost in my 30's. Despite all that time past and seeing that this place is under new ownership, it is still the same below average Japanese restaurant that I remember unfortunately. The service is okay and the red interior is still the same and honestly I don't mind it as much as other reviewers say. I think it's comfortable and unique. What isn't comfortable is that is right below a 24 hour fitness. So you know what that means. Constant banging on the roof from people dropping weights and sweating their butts off upstairs while you are trying to enjoy a quiet meal. The noise from the 24 hour fitness you hear when you are at Naked Fish is loud. Like REALLY LOUD. I ordered the Lunch Bento Box with Salmon and Beef Teriyaki and California Roll ($15.99) when I last went. Definitely on par price wise with other bento boxes nowadays. Expensive, but if the quality and portions are good then it's worth it. Unfortunately this bento was not worth it. Beef teriyaki is actually cooked pretty well with it being medium rare, but the portions are so small and the teriyaki sauce is overly sweet. The salmon teriyaki looks like it was cut from an infant salmon with how small it is. The California roll is actually decent, but it is hard to mess up a California roll. The salad is just straight up sad. It is nothing but spinach bunched together and doused with an overly sweet and sour salad dressing. You can tell there is zero heart or passion put into this and most bento box salads at least have a variety in greens and cucumbers or carrots, etc. It's just all bad. The only reason this place didn't get a 1 star is because the service is good, but everything else was dissapointing and there definitely needs to be an overhaul in the menu and quality. Having been around Millbrae for decades, for some reason this town really struggles with having good Japanese restauraunt options and Naked Fish is on the list of dissapointing options.

    Mother and Son Roll

A pretty decent sushi restaurant. I came on a date. We ordered 2 sushi rolls, a chefs special (beef tataki), and an alcoholic drink. The drink was pretty good, not too sweet. However, I would have preferred it slightly sweeter. The Beef Tataki, I wasn't a huge fan of. The Mother and Son Roll was decent. The Honeymoon Roll was good, I thoroughly enjoyed that one. I came on a Friday a little past 6, and it wasn't that busy. I had no issues with parking. The restaurant was fairly clean. And the prices were decent. Over service was fine. They didn't card me when I ordered my drink, and I was surprised because I look young for my age and always get carded. They then carded after they made my drink and brought it to the table, which was a goofy move. But no problem, I guess it happens, sometimes services forget to card you and then remember. No biggie. Overall, I am satisfied with my experience today and do plan on revisiting. I do want to mention that this restaurant is Chinese-owned, and not Japanese-owned.

First time trying here. We ordered three dishes, ten pieces Nigiri Chef Choice, Salmon Bento Box and California Rolls and Rock n Rolls. The Nigiri Sushi doesn't taste right, disgusting mushy texture. We don't like it at all. The Salmon and Rolls are okay. Price and service is good. Not recommend the Nigiri Sushi :(

Cucumber and Avocado Roll, hamachi cucumber roll, California Roll.
    Lauren D.

My friend ordered for delivery and the food she received looked and tasted delectable. I decided to walk in today and give it my own shot. The woman who greeted me at the door was very unpleasant. Idk if maybe she was having a bad day. But she was quite rude/aggressive towards me. The food I ordered was simply squished into one box. The pieces were very unbalanced. My California roll had so much crab mixture inside of it that it was squishy and not very good in my opinion. The hamachi cucumber roll, the one I'd seen before and was very excited about it, was only okay this time... Presentation was awful compared to what I'd seen a few days prior. Idk if it's because I walked in and didn't fit the part?? I'd even asked the woman how fresh the fish would be. She told me it was very fresh. It truly tasted nothing like the delicious and fresh pieces I'd tried a few days prior. Each piece had an unbalanced amount of fish. One piece barley had any. Overall, the fact that they were squished into one box made it hard to take out. Ripped rice off the sides of rolls. I'd order online possibly. Or I wouldn't leave without checking my food first. And ask to pay after the food is presented to me.

We were seated right away, and the restaurant itself is clean, nice, and spacious. I can imagine it getting packed during peak hours--and honestly, it should. I'm going straight to the point: Han Sang has the best Galbi Jjim I've ever had. I've been to other places (which shall remain unnamed) that proudly claim they have the best Galbi Jjim, but I'm happy to say I've finally found the one. At the same time, I'm a little sad because I live in SoCal, which means I can't just come here whenever the craving hits. This dish checked every box imaginable. The beef was incredibly flavorful, fall-apart tender, and they gave a generous amount of meat. And when I say meat, I mean actual meat--not a pile of bones disguised as a serving. (Yes, that's coming from past restaurant trauma.) You definitely get your money's worth here. The rice cakes were cooked perfectly and soaked up all that rich, savory sauce. Then came the surprise waiting at the bottom: glass noodles. Not the usual thin ones either--these were thicker, chewier, and absolutely delicious. Every bite was packed with flavor. The entire dish was so satisfying it genuinely made me happy. We also ordered the Chadol and Yangji Suyuk, a beef brisket soup that was exactly what we needed on a cold evening. The brisket was tender, and as expected, the broth arrived lightly seasoned so you can adjust it to your liking. After adding a little salt, pepper, and some ssamjang, it became the perfect comforting bowl of soup. Warm, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try their Bossam because the portions were huge and we could barely finish what we ordered. That's not a complaint--if anything, it's the perfect excuse to come back. Maybe this is what people mean when they say they left their heart in San Francisco. Mine might actually be sitting in a bowl of Galbi Jjim at Han Sang.

It can get a little busy during lunch hour but we were able to get a table for our party of 2 in around 10 minutes. Their menu had a variety of dishes, most prominent were the assortment of noodle dishes from dry to soupy or spicy. Leek Pancake - This was made so well, it was thin yet crispy and held together well. The leeks gave a subtle flavor and were a little tough to bite through but it tasted so good, especially dipped in the side sauce. Yangji Chadol Sul Long Tang - At first glance, this setup is so nice with the assortment of sides at the top to the different items you can add into the soup. I loved the fish cake side as well as the kimchi which they do give refills of. It was nice being able to add seasoning in the soup to match my taste and so perfect combined all together with the radish side sauce. The meat is pretty generous and soft as well with the thin chewy noodles. Such a healing comforting dish. In addition to the food, the workers were so kind and attentive, always helping us to refill our side dishes when needed. Probably one of the best sul long tangs I have had and I keep coming back time and again for it.

We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

Clean modern space, service checked in frequently and water refills were good. They answered any questions I had and provided good suggestions. Everything was prepared well. There was some waiting for different parts as some came from the kitchen and some from the chef. Since it was busy it definitely set things back a bit. Everything from the chef had a simple description for what it was. My faves for the meal were the scallop sashimi, the chiwan mushi, the yakimono, king salmon, and med fatty tuna. The scallops were flavorful, and just melted. Probably the best bite that I had. The cuts of fish were great. I liked how simple the chiwan mushi was. Definitely was great with the cold weather. The yakimono the butter wasn't overpowering and was well balanced with the ingredients. There was also a fried appetizer that was good but the name of it escapes me. Certainly worth the price tho if I had more people with me, I would definitely get reservations.

There was a rotating skewer-ready charcoal grill at each table and we ordered a variety of food. We ordered garlic oysters in the half-shell ($10.95). This was cooked in the kitchen and brought out. It was delicious. We ordered prawn skewers that were a big size and came one per skewer. We had Japanese wagyu ($25.95), prime beef ($6.95), pork jowl ($3.95), shitake mushroom ($2.95), chicken thigh ($2.95), pork sausage and marinated meat skewers. We enjoyed everything that came out. Service was great and attentive. It was pretty much one server for the entire restaurant so she was running around to all the tables... The meats were good and the ones that were pre-seasoned were good too. Otherwise the dipping sauces were tasty. They bring out the skewers little by little and you can place the cooked meats on this rack-like contraption that sits near the grill and eat them at your own pace. I really liked this concept. The first thing I noticed was that there was really not many pieces of ribs, maybe they made the ribs portion smaller to make room for the lap cheung I ordered? The dish description also says that it includes taro, but I didn't have a single piece of taro in my pot. Strangely, although this place seems to share a kitchen with Social Eatery, the rice was cooked much more poorly here, which is obviously a shame for a place specializing in clay pot rice. It seems like the rice had too much water added, so it was a bit overcooked - you couldn't feel the "single grain" mouthfeel texture you should expect from well-cooked, high quality rice. Since the rice was too mushy, it obviously didn't crisp well either. Though it had some small amount of bits stuck to the edges of the metal (not clay!) pot, it was definitely not the super crispy, well browned "faan ziu" I expect, and not at all like the pictures featured in some earlier reviews of this restaurant.
