Tonkatsu
Alyssa B.

Don't get it twisted to the one next to Walgreens on Crystal Springs. This place is similar but a different vibe and a different menu. Here there's no physical menu there's a QR code. The outside seems pretty sketch, but the inside is really nice and cute, newly renovated. Good service, we came here because they open at 4:30pm compared to other sushi spots that open at 5. We were too hungry to wait. Their menu is pretty affordable, and I noticed that their omakase was very cheap. Would love to come back and experience that. We ordered the Tonkatsu dinner with me so and a salad. The tonkatsu was nicely breaded and seasoned and their rice was very good. We also ordered plain California roll to judge and I think the unagi lover roll. Both were pretty good. I don't honestly say this is an average sushi spot, nothing will go wrong here. and I'll definitely be back!

Omakase

Was craving omakase, so I'm back at my favorite omakase spot. Arrived at 7 and was seated immediately at the bar. We ordered the omakase, chirashi rice plate, mixed tempura, and a hot sake. The omakase is still the best in town. The chirashi had a great selection of sashimi. The tempura -- which I forgot to take a picture of -- was crispy and delicious. I wish they gave two pieces of pumpkin because it was so sweet. They have a small parking lot with about 10 spaces, but if it's full, there's also street parking, so parking isn't an issue. They offer both bar seating and table seating, so you can choose what you prefer.

Lover's Boat

We always go here for the Omakase ($42) I tried a Lover's Boat instead this time. It was absolutely delicious ($52) My son loved his Lion King Roll also. This sushi place is one of my favorite places to eat in the Bay. I definitely recommend coming here.

We were hungry after my appointment in Burlingame so we settled for Sushi at Amami in San Bruno. The teriyaki chicken looked plain but it was good. We also ordered the Amami Sushi and Lion King roll. Both were great. Next time, I'd like to order their Omakase Sushi. They have several restaurants all over the bay.

The food and the service are outstanding! Food: the freshest, tasty, and generous-cut seafood nigiri sushis that my husband and I ever had in the Bay Area restaurants. Chef Erick's gorgeous plate presentation is a bonus! Service: waitress Vicky is very attentive and friendly, she also remembers what we'd ordered last time.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants. They offer very affordable lunch and dinner sets as well as omakase for $42. Their omakase only consists of 10 pieces but the pieces of fish is large. Great flavors and quality for its price. The restaurant can tend to get packed for dinners especially on weekends so make sure to come early or make a reservation.

After a good workout at the gym, decided to eat a little healthier and throw down some sushi. This place is still my favorite sushi joint in Bruno. If this place was in the same shopping plaza where my gym is i would probably eat there more often. The sushi there is so fresh and love that it is frequented by locals. It feels like a neighborhood spot as opposed to a trendy spot. Your boy went with his usual Amami Roll and Dragon Roll. This could be my Last Meal on Earth. If it were though, 2 rolls of each. These rolls are so good that I have considered working just to be able to eat for free. Just kidding, they would fire me after. week. Service was very good considering the place was packed--not an open seat in the house. The servers were on pointe keeping the hungry customers fed. Time to show the pics.

The parking is very tough here. The service is OK. We waited a very long time for our food. The food is your typical Amami spot. Highly recommend the Omakase or lovers boat. This location is not as clean as other locations I have been to before. this was not our first time here and won't be our last.

The wait to be seated was long, the wait for the food took even longer They seated ppl w/ reservations first ..
Suki L.

Their sushi quality is always good, that's what keeps people coming. Although, when they are short staffed, the wait for the food can be up to 45 mins. Made a reservation a day prior & the table was ready when we arrived. It wasn't as busy until 7:15-7:30. The whole place was packed on a Wednesday night. They automatically add 20% tip for our party of 8. We barely had customer service, since the waitress was swamped. Would've been nice to adjust the tip to slightly lower than 20% since we had to wait a long time for the food.

Amazing omakase! Fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Perfect for sushi lovers!

Came here over 2 years ago and had to wait over 1 hour because we had no reservation on a Friday night. This is after a 1.5 hours drive from San Jose! So I was in a negative mind set and had swore to never come back here. As fate would have it, I had a chance to come here again on a Sunday early evening. No waiting and the food was fantastic! The special Fatty O Toro was quite good and basically melted in my mouth. The portion was generous and the cut was just thick enough to make the fresh fish delicious. The next piece was the Ebi sweet shrimp head soup and sashimi style for the body. It's not on the menu so you have to ask for it. We also ordered the grilled Kampachi Kama. A grilled fish with 4 pieces of grilled fish that consist of 2 fish heads. Not recommend for non connoisseur of sushi. A squeeze of lemon on the fish make its a delicious treat. I also tried the Hamachi Jalapeño with some kick and the special oyster with quail egg and Tampico. Quite good. Didn't expect the food was this good so it was a nice surprise. Make sure to make reservation if you're coming.

Philadelphia Roll

Passed by and had Amami Sushi in my bookmarks. I was able to try it on a Saturday night and it was fairly busy with people and to go orders. The lover boat was indeed a lot of fish and looks nice. But again quality is lacking. The Philadelphia roll was mainly cream cheese. The sliced ginger was old and fairly dry. I'd say if you want cheap-ish and not so great quality but big pieces of fish then try Amami. The service was good and you get a lot of food. But the quality is lacking. They have multiple food and health violations . They have a small parking lot and street parking

It was such a hot day, and all we wanted was a refreshing cold meal. One of the things I love about coming here is creating my own omakase. Unfortunately, they were out of one of my longtime favorites, the baby lobster. This time I ordered the Santa Barbara uni, ama-ebi, baby bluefin toro, and kanpachi. The Santa Barbara uni is still the highlight, rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. It's still one of the best I've had, although I did notice the portions have gotten smaller. As a regular who's been coming here for years, I was disappointed with the bluefin toro and kanpachi. The bluefin toro lacked the buttery texture I remember, while the kanpachi was missing its clean flavor and firm, delicate bite. Overall, the quality didn't feel as consistent as it used to. We also ordered a few rolls and a bento box, which were decent. Service was a bit slow, although they seemed busy, and the ambiance was fine. I've brought many friends and family here over the years because this used to be one of my go-to sushi spots. It makes me a little sad to say this, but I do feel the quality has declined. I hope they can get back to the level that made them so special, but for now, it may be time for me to explore some new favorites. :(

My husband and I had dinner here tonight, and overall it was a really memorable experience. We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

Glad I made a reservation on Sunday night for dinner as it did get a bit crowded. It is moderately sized. For 2, we ordered 2 appetizers and 2 sushi rolls. We got the eggplant, corn tempura, a mango salmon roll and a dragon roll. Everything came out quickly and was very fresh. I saw that the salmon roll was spicy but it was hardly spicy so that was a good thing for me. I enjoyed the corn tempura, perfectly crunchy and flavorful. The eggplant was also unique and tasty. It was enough food for two. Everything was a bit on the pricy side but the quality was there. Would come back to try other things and the omakase.

Whether I stop by for lunch or dinner, the food, service, and overall experience remain reliably good every single time. On my latest visit, the Mango Spider Roll was a standout. It was fresh, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, though I will admit I am biased since mango is my favorite fruit. My ultimate guilty pleasure, however, is the sushi pizza. If you have never tried it, do yourself a favor and order one. It deserves all the praise it gets. The service is consistently friendly and attentive, which is one of the many reasons I keep returning year after year.
