Always calculate the tip amounts yourself, and don't trust the tip amounts provided by the restaurants! I went there recently. I selected 15% for the tips. Turned out the amount they provided is more than 15%!!! Look at the receipt I attached! Even though food was good, I will never go back and recommend this sushi place!

First time here and had to get the $42 Omakase which was so fresh and delicious! Really appreciated the fish to rice ratio and the sweet shrimp was a nice surprise. It comes with fresh wasabi which is how you know this place is legit. Will have to come back to try all the other things!

Came here at 8:30 pm and we were in and out super quickly. The quality of the fish is great, my favorite roll was the Romeo and Juliet as the palette for that was on the lighter side but our other rolls were great as well if you prefer saucier. All of our nigiri was delicious, my favorite was the Toro. Our squid came out last and the bite was perfect and not rubbery, I'd recommend this if you need extra protein. I think there's two Amami's on the same street, the other one just has Bistro in the name. I have no idea if they're the same thing but just something to note when punching it into your GPS. The parking lot is pretty small but since we came before closing, it was pretty empty. Overall, the customer service is efficient and the food was great!

Don't get it twisted to the one next to Walgreens on Crystal Springs. This place is similar but a different vibe and a different menu. Here there's no physical menu there's a QR code. The outside seems pretty sketch, but the inside is really nice and cute, newly renovated. Good service, we came here because they open at 4:30pm compared to other sushi spots that open at 5. We were too hungry to wait. Their menu is pretty affordable, and I noticed that their omakase was very cheap. Would love to come back and experience that. We ordered the Tonkatsu dinner with me so and a salad. The tonkatsu was nicely breaded and seasoned and their rice was very good. We also ordered plain California roll to judge and I think the unagi lover roll. Both were pretty good. I don't honestly say this is an average sushi spot, nothing will go wrong here. and I'll definitely be back!

Was craving omakase, so I'm back at my favorite omakase spot. Arrived at 7 and was seated immediately at the bar. We ordered the omakase, chirashi rice plate, mixed tempura, and a hot sake. The omakase is still the best in town. The chirashi had a great selection of sashimi. The tempura -- which I forgot to take a picture of -- was crispy and delicious. I wish they gave two pieces of pumpkin because it was so sweet. They have a small parking lot with about 10 spaces, but if it's full, there's also street parking, so parking isn't an issue. They offer both bar seating and table seating, so you can choose what you prefer.

We always go here for the Omakase ($42) I tried a Lover's Boat instead this time. It was absolutely delicious ($52) My son loved his Lion King Roll also. This sushi place is one of my favorite places to eat in the Bay. I definitely recommend coming here.

The food and the service are outstanding! Food: the freshest, tasty, and generous-cut seafood nigiri sushis that my husband and I ever had in the Bay Area restaurants. Chef Erick's gorgeous plate presentation is a bonus! Service: waitress Vicky is very attentive and friendly, she also remembers what we'd ordered last time.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants. They offer very affordable lunch and dinner sets as well as omakase for $42. Their omakase only consists of 10 pieces but the pieces of fish is large. Great flavors and quality for its price. The restaurant can tend to get packed for dinners especially on weekends so make sure to come early or make a reservation.

After a good workout at the gym, decided to eat a little healthier and throw down some sushi. This place is still my favorite sushi joint in Bruno. If this place was in the same shopping plaza where my gym is i would probably eat there more often. The sushi there is so fresh and love that it is frequented by locals. It feels like a neighborhood spot as opposed to a trendy spot. Your boy went with his usual Amami Roll and Dragon Roll. This could be my Last Meal on Earth. If it were though, 2 rolls of each. These rolls are so good that I have considered working just to be able to eat for free. Just kidding, they would fire me after. week. Service was very good considering the place was packed--not an open seat in the house. The servers were on pointe keeping the hungry customers fed. Time to show the pics.

The parking is very tough here. The service is OK. We waited a very long time for our food. The food is your typical Amami spot. Highly recommend the Omakase or lovers boat. This location is not as clean as other locations I have been to before. this was not our first time here and won't be our last.

The wait to be seated was long, the wait for the food took even longer They seated ppl w/ reservations first ..
    Suki L.

Their sushi quality is always good, that's what keeps people coming. Although, when they are short staffed, the wait for the food can be up to 45 mins. Made a reservation a day prior & the table was ready when we arrived. It wasn't as busy until 7:15-7:30. The whole place was packed on a Wednesday night. They automatically add 20% tip for our party of 8. We barely had customer service, since the waitress was swamped. Would've been nice to adjust the tip to slightly lower than 20% since we had to wait a long time for the food.

The place itself is homey, cozy, and feels like a family run place which it is -- apparently the owner used to be a chef for a former Japanese ambassador! The dishes, while *almost* kaiseki style, runs more homey too -- you will find simpler family dishes you can choose as mains like miso cod, tempura or chicken wing. Same with the drinks. There are nice sake and shochu flights, but not a specific pairing, and the selection is more mainstream (but still way more premium than a regular Japanese restaurant!) The waitstaff are all very polite and well trained, maybe not at the higher end (like starred restaurants), but definitely the best in the area. The set menu allows for 2 choices: your main and your starch. They are seasonal so you might not be able to get the same yummy thing as previous visits, but they really utilize seasonal produce well -- on a recent visit, the corn was simply phenomenal. Dessert, is à la carte, and I never have the appetite for it by the end of the meal. Honestly, the portions are rather huge, unless you're a hungry teenager or a large eater, it'll definitely be more than enough food per person. They provide to-go boxes if you need. It's definitely an elevated date night kind of place, and definitely make reservations via text! They are super responsive.

It seemed there was only one person who was the hostess, taking orders, and delivering the food. I give her mad props. With the dinner rush she was all over it. This place has seemed to have gotten an elevated, more modern face lift/ renovation compared to the restaurant that used to be here. I was surprised that they didn't have standard sushi rolls that I'm usually accustomed to, but from the rolls that I've tried here... change is good. I ordered: 1. Corn tempura: First time seeing this, I love both corn and tempura. Had to see what it was about. It was perfection. Now it makes me wonder why this has never been done. 2. California roll: Standard staple and was good. 3. Warriors roll: It's an interesting combo, all items that I like.. first bite you're hit with a flavor explosion. At times I felt I couldn't taste the shrimp tempura, but the crunch from the crunchy onion ties it all together. 4. Beef steak: She recommended me to try this first before trying the daily special or short rib. She did not disappoint with this recommendation. The beef was so tender and flavorful. Overall, a great experience. I will definitely be back for more. I forgot to take pictures, because we inhaled the food so fast.

The service was friendly, and we got to choose any table we wanted. Of course, we had to order the Hong Kong milk tea. I loved that it came in the classic black-and-white cup, just like a Hong Kong cha chaan teng. If you know, you know. That little detail made me feel right at home. The milk tea was really good. It was not exactly the same as what you would get in Hong Kong, but it was pretty close for the U.S. We both ordered the curry brisket and tendon. The dish looked amazing in photos and was very satisfying in person. My only wish was that the curry could have been hotter. It seemed like it needed a little more time to heat through. The rice was piping hot though, and the curry flavor was delicious. I honestly did not expect to finish it, but I ended up eating every last bit of curry. Overall, a very enjoyable lunch with friendly service and comforting Hong Kong flavors. We will definitely be back to try more dishes. Highly recommend!

The first thing I noticed was that there was really not many pieces of ribs, maybe they made the ribs portion smaller to make room for the lap cheung I ordered? The dish description also says that it includes taro, but I didn't have a single piece of taro in my pot. Strangely, although this place seems to share a kitchen with Social Eatery, the rice was cooked much more poorly here, which is obviously a shame for a place specializing in clay pot rice. It seems like the rice had too much water added, so it was a bit overcooked - you couldn't feel the "single grain" mouthfeel texture you should expect from well-cooked, high quality rice. Since the rice was too mushy, it obviously didn't crisp well either. Though it had some small amount of bits stuck to the edges of the metal (not clay!) pot, it was definitely not the super crispy, well browned "faan ziu" I expect, and not at all like the pictures featured in some earlier reviews of this restaurant.

If you plan on visiting during the weekend, expect a wait. The line can get pretty long, but after eating here multiple times, I can confidently say it is worth every minute. Some restaurants are all hype, but Curry Hyuga earns every bit of the praise it receives. The katsu is consistently excellent. Whether you order the chicken or the pork, the breading is always perfectly crisp while the meat stays incredibly juicy and tender. That level of consistency is something I really appreciate because every visit has been just as good as the last. The curry is what keeps me coming back. It is rich, comforting, and packed with layers of flavor. Every bite has a depth and complexity that makes it stand out from your typical Japanese curry. It is the kind of meal that leaves you thinking about it long after you have finished. One thing I also really enjoy is the atmosphere. The restaurant strikes a great balance between being lively and comfortable. There is enough energy in the room that it feels welcoming and full of life, but it is still quiet enough to have an easy conversation without having to raise your voice. I often find myself stopping in for a solo meal when I am in the area, and it is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful lunch or dinner by myself. At the same time, it works just as well when I bring friends and family. It is one of those rare restaurants that feels right no matter who you are dining with. The staff has also been nothing but friendly and welcoming every time I have visited. Even when the restaurant is packed, they stay attentive and keep things moving with a smile. If you have been debating whether to wait in line, take this as your sign.
