My family and I ate lunch here today! It is a cute little spot that is right across from Tebo Tebo Lounge at the corner (all the way at the end). We order Pho Ga (pretty good - I like the broth, the noodles, and chicken), Com Ga Nuong Xa Ot (chicken is pretty yummy and flavorful), the lemon grass chicken and fried sticky rice dish (I don't see this one on the menu, but my grandma knew how to order it and it was SO GOOD!!) , and Goi Ga (yummy cabbage with chicken). They also have three sauces to dip your food in (soy sauce, garlic oil sauce, and a fish/orange sauce! SOOOO yummy!!!) My aunt, uncle, and I checked-in to get the 1 free soda or tea deal with a purchase of a meal that they have on yelp (so in total we got 3 free drinks!!!). So if you are going to go try this place out then make sure to CHECK IN and gett yoooo freee drankkk! The decor of the place was cute. The place was very bright from the sunlight that is shining through the windows. The tables and chairs are a light color which helps makes the whole restaurant calm and relaxing. I've been searching for stellar Hainan chicken rice in Orange County for years. Most places which serve it are just so-so, even my favorite pho ga place, Pho Dakao, doesn't have one that makes me come back for more. I've heard about this place from various friends, but only came here recently for dinner one evening. I ordered the #1, the Hainan Chicken Rice. It isn't exactly the same as the ones I grew up with in Singapore and Malaysia, however, the chicken is perfectly cooked, using "live chicken" instead of the kind you find in the grocery store. I can tell because of the texture of the meat and skin. They also serve it with several dipping sauces and I am partial to the ginger sauce they give you. There is also a sweet and tart garlic dipping sauce as well as a thick soy sauce with hints of sweetness. The accompanying rice is very flavorful and I was so happy when I tasted it. It's been a very long time since I've had anything close to this -- Savoy out in SGV is one of my favorites but it's too long a drive. My son had the pho ga.... again, with the really nicely poached chicken and very al dente pho noodles. These noodles aren't anything like other pho places. The texture is incredible. The broth is clear and flavorful. I think I might have to cheat on Pho Dakao from now on. Sorry. We also shared a #11, chicken salad. The shreds of chicken has accompanying skin which is texturally very "bouncy". I pulled most of it off, but if you're a fan of chicken skin, it's really good, I ate a few pieces with skin on. The dressing it's tossed in is lovely. Came back again the next day with some friends and this time tried the lemongrass chicken salad #12. I think I like this even more than the #11. The chicken was so flavorful and the shredded cabbage salad was so refreshing with bits of mint in it. Also tried the chicken rice with the crispy rice and the crispy rice was sooooo good. The dipping sauce they give you for this is especially good. I think I'll be ordering this too sometime down the road. Com Ga Nam An - Their signature chicken rice dish. You can request the type of meat you want - skin on/off, white/dark meat or bone with/without (you can do this for all the dishes). I usually order white meat with no skin or bone. The rice is flavorful and the soup is a great complement to the meal. However, we all know the main star of the show is the ginger dipping sauce - it is DA BOMB. Pho Ga - This is not your typical pho. I love the thick noodles and the light yet flavorful broth. You definitely won't get the jittery MSG overdose feeling here so slurp away my friends! Com Ga Nuong Xa Ot - Same rice dish as mentioned before but this time it's with lemongrass chicken. Yum, so aromatic. I order this with pan fried crispy noodles (the same kind they use in their pho) instead of rice. Try it. You can thank me later. Some other popular dishes are Xoi Ga (chicken with sticky rice), Chao Ga (chicken porridge) and Goi Ga (chicken salad). I didn't order this for myself but my mom has and anything she likes is a winner in my book as well. I'm sad that this place doesn't have super high reviews on Yelp at the moment. I've come here countless times and each time I've had such wonderful experiences. I know this place charges up the butt for certain dishes that you can get elsewhere for cheaper but you can't really blame them for their location. First of all, I'm sure it ain't cheap to lease a space in that area. Second of all, they're located in the back where not very many can see them unless if they enter the plaza's parking lot. I don't blame them for racking up the prices on their items. Anywho, I believe that customer service and quality of food rises above all for this joint. From the first time I've dined here, I've always ordered #3 which is Grilled Lemongrass Chicken with flavored rice and I ALWAYS ask for ALL OF THE SAUCES. I like to cut up all my chicken, mix it with the rice and all of the sauces. The chicken is moist, soft and flavored just right! This is my all time favorite place to go to for chicken and rice. It is a very clean and updated establishment. Their decor is nice and simple. The dining area is well-lit. Their food is always consistent. The staff is nice. The place is very casual, a pretty decent size which I'm sure probably gets pretty fullat lunch times, and perhaps even at dinner times. One of the two complaints I have that there weren't really any decent appetizers to order. I recall seeing fried gizzards, which weren't my cup of tea. We thought it would have been nice to have some Vietnamese spring rolls or something. Since there was nothing to much on before the entree, we simply ordered the lemon grass chicken salad. Well, this was actually really good! The chicken was tender and flavorful....perfectly cooked.....and delicious when dipped into the sauces provided. For my entree I ordered the chicken over egg noodles. The noodles were firm and perfectly cooked, and the chicken was perfect just like it was on the salad. With this we got a bowl of soup just in case the noodles are too dry for some. My friends all ordered chicken rice, either with regular rice or crispy rice. This actually kind of amused me. We had various options to choose from. First, whether we wanted white or dark meat, skin or no skin, regular rice or crispy rice. The friend who ordered the crispy rice said it was delicious! This is my favorite place to get steamed chicken and sticky chicken rice. I think its called com ga in vietnamese and believe me I'm picky eater. Consistently good. I alway elect to get the whole chicken as this to me this gives me the most bang for my buck. The only reason why im not giving it a 5 star is the service is sometimes lacking or orders are sometimes wrong so be sure to check before leaving if ordering togo. Our family started to frequent this restaurant since it was first open because my mom likes their chicken dishes. We called in to place several orders of Pho. 30 minutes later, we came to pick them up. As soon as we got home, we unboxed them. They were all Rice! We called the restaurant immediately, they refused to exhange them for us. The staff there admitted that they gave us the wrong order, but he said "per the big boss, they are not allowed to take food back once they are carried out of the store". I called my credit card to dispute the charge, Com Ga Nam An provided my bank with the receipt I signed for. I confirmed that is my signature so there is nothing my bank can do to reverse the charge. Bank told me I should have check the items BEFORE I sign for the bill. I have never done that! I usually phone in, come to pay, pick up the order and leave. I don't want to hold up a line of other customers who standing behind me to wait for me to unbox and check on ALL my orders! Lesson learned. Also, my bank dispute team informed me that they were trying to contact the merchant but Com Ga Nam An always gave them a run around, saying the boss is not here. I was excited to try this place out since there are so many good reviews but man, this was a let down. I took my mom out for lunch on a Saturday around 11 AM. I was super hungry since I haven't eaten anything all day and I was looking forward to getting food fast since Vietnamese restaurants tend to have fast service. We got seated immediately and ordered within 10 minutes. There were about 4 other parties and 1 big party so it took forever for us to get the food, I think my mom and I waited for like 15-20 minutes. I was starving. The service was really choppy, no one seemed to know what they were doing and the waiters kept forgetting stuff and made so many trips to bring out everything. They made one trip to bring out my Com Ga Nam An, and then they brought out my mom's pho, then they came to bring us the veggie platters, then they brought our utensils....it was getting annoying. The bad service ruined my mom and my dining experience. Food wise, the platter of rice was mediocre. I've had way better chicken at cheaper places with way better customer service. The portion is a bit small, too. I finished everything on my plate and was still not really full. My mom was not pleased with her pho. Total came out to $20 for just two plates of food, and Vietnamese food is cheap, too! Especially in Little Saigon, so this is definitely way overpriced. I definitely wouldn't come back. read more

I also enjoyed the onions that came as a garnish and their hot sauce, which was pretty unique. But really, the dish was just some grilled chicken that came with a mound of rice. And the portion size, was very very small. Chicken is one of the cheapest proteins you can buy, so for $8/order, I would have expected a lot more than that. I understand that they are trying to present their dishes in an appealing way, but this is not fine dining. This kind of portion size just doesn't fly in this area, which is filled with other vietnamese restaurants offering some ridiculous values. The service here was also kinda lacking. The guy seemed nice enough, but he barely spoke any english. My friend tried to order a soup or something, and the waiter wasn't able to communicate properly. We just gave up and nodded. I don't expect much, but most other places around here are able to understand basic english phrases. So if you are looking for a healthy option or just really enjoy chicken and rice, I guess this place does a decent job. But there really isn't anything here that would make me want to come back. This is a little hole in the wall serves SE Asian cuisine and holds maybe 40 people max, which makes for a CROWDED lunch or dinner spot when a few friends have an urge for Chicken Rice. We came here for the Chicken Rice and Lemongrass Chicken, which were both affordably under $10. I've personally never understood the appeal of Chicken Rice, and I'm convinced that it's a dish that you must have grown up eating to crave. It's essentially steamed chicken, which ensures that the skin is thick and rubbery, and rice that is cooked with chicken stock. The rice itself is tasty, but steamed chicken comes with a bit of a tart aftertaste that is difficult to enjoy. As far as lemongrass chickens go...this one left a bit to be desired. The skin was particularly rubbery, and the side salad was incredibly tart. You can request for the lemongrass chicken to come with sticky rice or burnt rice. The lemongrass chicken is charred a bit giving it a nice crunch--matching the burnt rice that I ordered. It came with a soy-sauce based dipping sauce which didn't add much to it, and a small vegetable salad. It wasn't amazing though. It just seems like any lemongrass chicken that you could get at any other Vietnamese restaurant. All in all, I guess people come here because it's hard to find chicken rice any other place. Okay...This location isn't what it seems, it boasts a newspaper review and many yelpers also approved of this location. Let's start out by just saying that again, I'm a student at Le Cordon Bleu...1st rule to any protein is clean...everything...and my grandma's chicken doesn't even have this, and she's old school Viet... The chicken we were served has remnants of feathers...like I ate two pieces...and it hit me...I was chewing on small feathers...farm fresh or grown...it doesn't matter...there's no cuisine in the world that you see chicken feathers served for human consumption. Noodles were good, and the soup had a rich color but lacked taste...salad...sigh...there's one thing to serve ppl old vegetables...but another where you can clearly tell you that an insect made this hole on that leaf... Facilities...it looked like it had a makeover...but they ran outta money to give this place a floor...just saying...and bathrooms looked clean but could be touched up here and there... Came here to try their main chicken and rice dish for the first time. I ordered the meal to-go and the lady who took my order was very helpful! I asked for meat only, no skin or bones, and with liver. She was very patient with my different requests. I think the liver was .50$ more, but that was OK because usually some places do charge extra for that. While waiting, I went over to TEBO to buy me a drink, came back and my food was ready. I got home within 10 minutes and sat down to eat. The meal came with ginger/garlic rice (good), soup with my pieces of liver in it, the white meat I asked for, and 3 different dipping sauces. My favorite sauce is the chilli ginger one. I believe the other two were the soy sauce and the oil ginger. I would have given this place a 5 stars, but the only reason why I didn't is because my soup and chicken was pretty cold by the time I tried it, only the rice was hot. Other than this, the food was very decent, the restaurant appeared clean, and workers were nice. I'd return next time and stay to eat and hopefully try out their other dishes. =) read more

I was in the area to take care of some real estate business. It was around lunch time, and I remember I had Com Ga Nam An Chicken Rice on my to-try list. I got there around 11am. The restaurant was still empty. But it got filled up pretty quickly after that. This Vietnamese restaurant specializes in chicken. There's chicken rice dishes and chicken noodle dishes. I ordered their #1 Com Ga Nam An - Nam An's style chicken rice. You can choose to have the chicken with skin or without skin. The chicken was done really well. It still has the chewy texture to it. Chicken rice was flavorful, and I can taste each grain of rice. There were 3 dipping sauce - ginger oil, sweet sauce, and sweet soy sauce. I like to dip my chicken in mixture of all 3 sauces. The rice also comes with a bowl of soup. I assume it is chicken soup (?) with cilantro and scallion. It was a tasty plate of rice. Just wish portion was a bit bigger. More like 3.5 stars but I rounded up because it was clean and new with tasteful decor. Good: #1 & #4 house hai nan chicken. Very tender. Ask for no skin and a mix of dark and white meat. Crispy sticky rice is good but they will up charge you $1.50 which they didn't mention till the check came. You can also get their chicken on egg noodles #18. Loved all their sauces! Bad: small portions. You can add on chicken but then I feel the value for money starts rapidly decreasing. read more

The NASTIEST pho ga and com ga you could imagine. I was hopeful because of the reviews but goddaaam was I mislead. We ordered a rice dish and a pho dish. The chicken came out COLD! The pho broth had no flavors. We asked why it's cold and the young guy said it's precut and left out. Wtf?
