As the name of the restaurant suggests, this spot is known for their broken rice dishes and they are good at what they do! I know they serve other plates but they are known for their broken rice so definitely try those! The options for broken rice can look intimidating, especially as a non-Vietnamese speaker BUT they are very nice and there are descriptions of every combination that comes in a plate. If you're new to broken rice, try the combo with pork bbq and shrimp cake! It is sooooo delicious! This place is clean and parking is plentiful. It's never too noisy which I appreciate because sometimes I just have to escape the noise of Fountain Valley/Garden Grove. The meat portions were very generous and the broken rice very fresh. They offered us a little veggie soup as an appetizer which was a nice touch. Very delicious! We went here for dinner around 5 p.m., and the place was empty. We were greeted right away, and the lady told us we could sit anywhere. There were plenty of tables inside. The cơm tấm was excellent, and the portion size was perfect. I left feeling full and satisfied. Surprisingly, my absolute favorite on the dish was the Vietnamese crispy tofu skin (tàu hũ ky). It's usually not my go-to, but this place did it exceptionally well. It was perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and incredibly flavorful. The steamed egg chả was my least favorite. It kinda felt dry, but was still pretty good. The veggie soup was complimentary and was delicious. The thịt nướng (grilled pork) was also delicious - juicy, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. The fish sauce paired beautifully with everything. Overall, everything was a 5/5. Service was quick and efficient, and the prices were very reasonable. Came to celebrate my MIL. Restaurant was not crowded when we got there and we were seated right away. We were given menus and our order was taken shortly after. I had the bo luc lac special plate. My understanding is com tam means broken rice well there didn't seem to be any broken rice in any our dishes. I know my dish was on a different menu but hubby's and the kids' plate were under the com tam menu but no broken rice on their dish. The other parts of the dish were good, fairly decent. Now for my dish the bo luc lac was a bit tough and chewy. There were plenty of grilled onions which I enjoy and the sauce but the meat I did not enjoy as much. My son and daughter shared a dish of rice and beef and my youngest shared with my MIL noodles with beef and shrimp. Overall it was an ok visit. So many options for com tam (broken rice) here! Since I've been eating that a lot, I wanted to try something new and got a different Vietnamese dish. I got the Pho Tai Nam Sach which happens to not be listed on the menu, but they were able to do it for me! The meat, broth, and noodles were really good together! What stood out was the friendly attentive service and cleanliness despite still looking the same from what I remember. Pho, com tam, and banh hoi was our spread and all were very delicious! Came here for the first time on a Friday evening. This is a large restaurant and it was fairly empty so my party of 4 was seated immediately. I did noticed that as we were eating and leaving the restaurant filled up quickly. I got an order of egg rolls which comes with a side of veggies and fish sauce for dipping and a broken rice plate with a grill pork chop (suon nuong), grilled pork (thit nuong), and fried shrimp cake (tau hu ky). The egg rolls came out hot, chewy, and crispy. The broken rice plate came with a side of soup with veggies. This was plain (flavorless), not what I am used to, and it was lukewarm (not at the temperature soup should be). The broken rice plate was small (not good for sharing). The grilled pork was over cooked I would skip it. The pork chop and fried shrimp cake were delicious! The pork chop was cooked to perfection. It was the perfect thickness and a great cut of meat it had a good chunk of fat on it. The fried shrimp cake was hot, thick, crispy, and flakey. I would get these two items again. read more

This com tam place is still the best. The people are very sweet and nice. Parking is always good. The bbq meat grilled with charcoal is very authentic and true to the main dish com tam. Besides the com tam, I had bun thit nuong cha gio. It's vermicelli noodles with egg rolls and grilled bbq pork, and it is delicious every time. Com bo luc lac is awesome as well.
