Came here early so there wasnt too many people. We ordered 1 egg noodle (the one with mi) and 1 clear noodle. (The 2nd one on menu) You can choose between wet or dry. The broth wasnt too strong. But i liked the variety of meats, the quail egg, and the greens they had. It was a little bitter but it worked well with the soup. I added the garlic and jalapenos in my soup to boost it a little. I feel like the dry noodles might be more flavorful cimpared to their soup one because it comes with side sauce you would add to it. This is located in the corner of a plaza and it is away from all the touristy/crowds of the weekend. I ordered the Bo Kho with noodles and it's was very good! Not too salty and very flavorful. I would highly recommend it! I have also tried their traditional hu thieu which is also very good especially if you are looking for something with clear broth. They also have pickled garlic and jalepeno which is a great addition! I don't think you can go wrong with any dish here. My favorite is the hu tieu my tho - though this time the red sauce wasn't as thick and flavorful as past years, and had less toppings, perhaps due to less ingredients on the day. This was my first time ordering from here. I ordered a hu tieu my tho to go by phone (they repeated and confirmed my order). When I went to pick up, I didn't check and ended up with a mi my tho (which I guess doesn't come with the red sauce). The only gimmick here is the red sauce and I didn't get to try it. The mi by itself is below average for Vietnamese standards (there are many restaurants doing it much better). The noodles were pretty mushy and sticky, they gave me soup on the side as requested but I ended up mixing the soup in because the dry noodles had no flavor. Toppings were standard. I got the #1 My Tho Noodles. You can get it with the clear chewy noodles or the white soft noodles or half and half. I always get the #1 dry with the chewy noodles. Sauce and soup is given on the side. My never-fail order. This dish is a one of a kind and I only get this dish from this restaurant because I don't see this noodle dish with this specific sauce anywhere else! It's pretty rare. It's a tomato base sauce that's tangy, savory, and delectable. They give you so much meat toppings and plumped shrimps. No complaints other then they need to put some kind of music on so we don't hear people slurping on their noods. Service is straight forward. You tell them what you want and it comes out. If you need anything you just give them a call. This is a childhood classic for us. It's nostalgic of the old Saigon ambiance, and the owners are the kindest and most meticulous people. Although the restaurant has many dishes, I recommend getting hu tieu my tho with the pink sauce. It's tangy, and the noodles are cooked just right to mix with pork and quail eggs. I usually don't like small noodles, but I am addicted to the noodles. Though when we come back, the sauce is slightly more watery and less meat, the freshness and the taste is still there. Upon entering it, there were plenty of seats available and friendly older waiters who greet you. They'll ask if you want it dry or with soup, clear noodle or not, and whether you want your bean sprouts steamed. Once it comes to your table, you can add the chili/garlic vinegar condiment (highly recommend) or the other chili condiment on the table. The broth was soooo good, perfect amount of sweetness and savory balance. Plenty of thinly cut meat, couple of shrimp, quail egg, and minced pork. Portion size was good and there was plenty of noodle to eat with the broth. Price was $14, but I paid with credit card so that was a 4% surcharge. Total came out to around $17 with tip. Phuong's is famous for its Hủ tiếu, a dish usually eaten for breakfast and served with a small bowl of broth on the side. It is your choice to eat as a soup or as a dry noodle dish without the broth but with the garnishments which include bean sprouts and a bed of chrysanthemum leaves along with a tomato-based sauce. I ordered the Hủ Tiếu Mỹ Tho (Vietnamese pork and seafood noodle soup), $13, which is the first listed on its menu. The version prepared here includes sliced pork, pork pate, prawns, and quail eggs, topped with some Mắm tôm chua - a fermented shrimp and papaya paste or sauce. You can order this dish with either rice noodles or egg noodles. The broth had a subtle, smoothing umami flavor to it. The rice noodles (my choice) were perfectly cooked (chewy and nicely stuck together but falls apart once it is covered with broth). The tomato sauce was slightly sweet and not too tangy. The pickled garlic and jalapeno condiment was also brought to add to the dish. Next time, I may just opt to eat the noodles dry with a little bit of tomato sauce on them. Or maybe enjoy half of them in the broth with the chrysanthemum leaves and bean sprouts. Adding all the ingredients into the bowl makes this simply prepared dish too complex to really enjoy in my opinion. A solid noodle dish, not completely different in style and preparation from popular Cambodian noodles dishes like the Phnom Penh Noodle. The Hủ tiếu did not 'wow' me like the first time I tried Phở, Bún bò Huế, or Bún riêu, but I would welcome another opportunity to try another one of their Hủ Tiếu dishes again. read more

Tucked away in a dusty shopping center is this hidden gem. They have a selection of items, but I haven't made it past this wonderful dish quite yet. I hidden gem of Garden Grove! So glad my family and I came here to try dry noodles (ie. mi/hu tieu My Tho). I have been craving dry noodles but have not been able to find a good restaurant with Vietnamese style (My Tho and Nam Van) until I learned about Phuong's Restaurant! There are 3 noodles that you can choose from: either yellow egg noodle, clear chewy noodle (from Japan), or rice noodle (like pho). I always opt for the egg noodle AND clear chewy noodle when I order! Why not get what you want when you can?! The bowl of noodle comes out dry (obviously =P) with boiled shrimp, pork, and sausage. The red sauce or tomato base sauce (My Tho) or soysauce-base (Nam Van) comes on the side. You also get a small bowl of broth that is very tasty, yet clean tasting. Condiments included are pickled garlic and pepper. I heard these are amazing but I passed because a girl can't be smelling like garlic all day long! Maybe I'll try it next time.... Service is homey to say the least! We were immediately greeted by the owner (he speaks perfect English by the way) as we entered the shop. Service was lacking. A server dropped off drinks to our table that we didn't order, which isn't a big deal.. mistakes happen. But when I tried to get any of the servers' attentions by waving my hand for a bit to notify them of the mistake, no one acknowledged me.
