Vietnamese coffee and hibiscus iced tea
    Cesar C.

The location used to be my favorite pastry and drink spot in Chinatown to go to; now it's NAM Coffee -- a new concept in matcha and Vietnamese coffee options. The ambiance was agreeable on my visit, the service could be, too. My choice drink, A Vietnamese iced coffee at $8 was OK. Neither robust nor memorable more, meh . I'll try it again in the future and will happily revise my review if impressed.

I always go to Chinatown during the weekends and noticed this place opened up. Was craving some matcha after waking up early and tried their pandan matcha. It was delicious, the pandan wasn't overbearing and the matcha was smooth. I also got the coffee cake and it was delicious when warmed up. I got my parents the everyday matcha latter and the salted creamed Ube matcha and they both like their drinks! Definitely would come again when I'm in the area! Also have to add they have great music taste in the store, good ambiance

It's Chinatown so be prepared to drive for a bit to find parking. I went on a Thursday and struggled to find parking. Originally, I came in for a quick matcha fix but ended up staying longer to find parking. I got the strawberry matcha and it was tasty. I wish the strawberry cream on top was stronger. The matcha was good quality though. The staff was helpful and the decor was cute. Definitely not much space to sit with friends.

I liked it. Had a craving for some egg coffee and decided to try the new Chinatown location. Clean interior with a few tables and wall bench for seating. Also a few chairs in front. A good place to do a little work or chat with friends. Right now they're only doing iced egg coffee, but they said they'll be doing hot drinks soon too. They also have pastries. The iced egg coffee was good. Service was good. Friendly staff. Street meter parking on the block.

This is a cute little shop located just a short walk from our hotel. We really appreciated that they were one of the few spots in the area open early. They have a charming setup with a couple of tables and chairs both inside and out. We tried a few different drinks: Pandan Latte (with oat milk): This was decent and unique flavor, though it didn't quite blow me away. Banana Latte: A friend ordered this one, but it wasn't really for me. The service was very friendly and welcoming, which added to the nice atmosphere. Overall, it's a solid spot for an early caffeine fix if you're in the neighborhood.

I got the salted cream matcha ube and it was very good. The cold foam was a great touch to the matcha which was already very good. I also have never had ube with my matcha and will say that it was a great pair. The workers were very nice and quick. The inside was very nice and chill with good seating and decor.

Cute coffee shop located in Chinatown right next to the infamous banh mi shop. What drew me here was a pic of their strawberry matcha but I didn't see it on the menu. So I ended up getting the Panda Matcha and OMGee it is Delicious!! Perfect sweetness, with a slight mung bean taste. This drink definitely made me a fan of Nam!

I've loved Nam Coffee's beans to make at home and to gift my friends since before they opened a coffee shop, and I had heard good things about their first location but I've never been. I happened to be in Chinatown for a cookbook signing and was surprised to see they had a new location - perfect timing! WHAT I ORDERED: Egg coffee THE DRINK: Tasted just as if I had made a fresh phin drip over ice myself! It's not as thick and sweet as other places in the OC make it, but I still really enjoyed it. The egg cream was also unique in that it wasn't a thick creamy layer as other places do it, but I liked the fact that the flavor was less "eggy" and more "custardy" if that makes sense. SERVICE: On a Sunday early afternoon, it was BUSY! Drinks didn't take too too long to come out but was definitely bustling. I recommend ordering online. VIBES: I'll have to take a closer look next time, but seemed more like a place to sit with friends than a place to sit down and do work - no large tables and I didn't see many outlets (unless I missed them). Decor was pretty! BOTTOM LINE: So happy to see a specialty Viet coffee shop in the area - I'll have to come back to try the other drinks!

Love this spot! I got the salted ube cream latte and it was so good! I was able to get some work done here as well. The music they were playing were spot on. Service was pretty quick too!

Nam Coffee now has a 2nd location and this one is located right in the heart of Chinatown. To get here, street parking will be your best bet and there is tons of it around the area. They have some tables for seating inside and a couple seats outside as well. For their menu, they have a solid selection of different coffee and matcha drinks to choose from. Wifey and I stopped by for our weekend matcha run and she ended up getting the Salted Cream Matcha Ube and I got the Banana Matcha. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. You really cannot go wrong with anything you order here!

Not a first timer for Nam, as I have tried it in the other location and love it so I was super excited knowing they expanded their wings into Chinatown area. Parking wasn't a friend but wouldn't be a problem as I only stopped by for to-go order. They did have nice sit down space should you ever need to stop and hang. The menu selection was similar, with their signature Vietnamese coffee. If last time the pandan one got me hooked, this time I wanna bet on their Saigon Latte; said to be the lighter version of their Vietnamese coffee. I would say it's great substitute for you who wanted less strong coffee flavor and subtle sweetness as well as creaminess. To the opposite, should you fancy way creamier and thicker option, give their Egg Coffee a try. Worry not about it being eggy as it wouldn't given it's more like custard. More on the sweet end, but I didn't love it.

I love Nam Coffee. I've been to their original location several times and so happy that they are right in Chinatown now (they replaced minon cake). They're still in the soft opening phase but they have most of their signature drinks (Viet coffees and matcha) available. Excited to see their full menu once they go through their grand opening. They also have a kitchen at this location so they're going to have hot foods!! That's such an awesome addition! The space is not that big, there are only a few tables but they do have outlets and WiFi. Staff was great, no wait for coffee when I went mid-day and space is clean. They do have a restroom too. Only issue might be looking for parking but Chinatown does have plenty of $5 all day parking lots. Can't wait for this to be a neighborhood staple!

Then cross the street, walk down 1 block to reach the place... OR watch out for traffic and jaywalk. (Dont recommend this, busy intersection).... Feel like they tried to make this spot look old.. Mixture of antique looking seats and chairs... Decor seems a lil off to me... 90s hip hop music playing... When I asked for pastries, I was told they have 1 day old pastries... YES 1 day old pastry.... so they dont sell?? Or could they be 2 days old instead of 1... oh and at full price, didnt mention half off... etc... Got a lemon ricotta bread... for being 1 day old, it was moist and just OK... not big on flavor... Coffee was good... no drip, only americano or speciality drip... Service was nice... no big interaction Just order, pay and they brought my coffee to me.... Will I go back.. nope!!... parking is a hassle and 1 day old pastries, is just not for me.... If you go... I ordered the Orange Mint Latte, Matcha Sparkling Lemonade, Einspanner White, Hibiscus Mint Sparkling Lemonade, and of course, a cortado. I also tried their Wagyu Sliders. Every drink was fantastic. What I really enjoyed was how different each one was from the next. It didn't feel like I was ordering variations of the same drink -- each had its own flavor profile, presentation, and unique touch. The Orange Mint Latte was especially interesting, and both sparkling lemonades were refreshing and completely different from what I would normally order. The Einspanner White was another standout. Overall, it was a really fun variety to try at once. The cortado was also very good. It had a nice flavor, smooth texture, and was easy to drink. Their approach is a little different from a traditional cortado presentation because the espresso and milk are fully integrated together rather than finished with latte art. I actually appreciate that style when it's executed well because the focus is more on getting the espresso and milk completely incorporated into one cohesive drink. The presentation across the entire order was also really well done. You can tell there's thought behind how everything is served and put together, which adds to the overall experience. The Wagyu Sliders were great as well. I think the food side of Archives of Us deserves more attention because they have some genuinely good food options to go along with the drinks rather than the food feeling like an afterthought. The space itself is beautifully designed with plenty of seating inside as well as an outdoor seating area. I love the overall atmosphere and aesthetic -- there are certain details about the design, presentation, and experience that remind me of coffee shops I've visited in Japan. The staff made the experience even better. Everyone was extremely friendly, kind, and welcoming. Overall, Archives of Us has a lot going for it. A beautiful space, great service, thoughtful presentation, a strong variety of drinks, solid coffee, and food worth trying as well. It's especially nice to find a coffee shop where I actually want to explore the menu beyond my usual cortado. Definitely the type of place I could see myself coming back to once a week.

The reason I emphasize sweetness level is because of how sweet the beverages are. I love sugar: sweets, desserts, and beverages. 50% is plenty here. At this level the sugar doesn't overwhelm the tea and the two blend well together having nice spiced notes, tea strength, and milky goodness. My first experience as a ChaTraMue left me sugar'd out, but at 50%, I think a good balance has been struck. They do serve their drinks with plenty of ice, so it might be diluted enough if the ice melts. All in all, the thai tea is great if youre cautious with your sweetness. I can see why people like the thai tea, the spices mixing with the high quality tea is really satisfying and refreshing.

The cream top does make it very creamy and it does mask majority of the matcha flavor. It did taste like a dessert drink. It was enjoyable though. COLD BREW VANILLA Weirdly sour and smoky flavored cold brew. Slight floral flavor too. It was such an odd combination of flavors with the vanilla cold foam. The lingering aftertaste was not good either. It's neither this nor that. Would not recommend! FINANCIERS Their financiers are made by a local bakery called Musk. It seems their financier flavors are changed often, so no same flavors are in rotation. Sausage & Parmesan - The almond cake's vanilla flavor with the sausage and salty parmesan was a unique flavor. The almond cake was nice and spongy. It did take a bit of time to get used to the savory flavors with the almond cake. It's like a breakfast in an unexpected way. Nutella - Buttery almond cake with nutella and roasted hazelnuts. Enjoyed it! I think Nutella fans would like it. Mugwort + Fig - Buttery in the beginning and it ends with a good, medium-strength flavor of mugwort. Fig was garnish on top, so you barely get it. However, I like that they added the sweetness of the figs with the earthy bitter mugwort. Overall, it was uniquely delicious and mugwort was the star. Yuza + Apricot - A tad sweeter than expected due to the outer brush of yuza aka yuzu simple syrup. Loved the chewy apricot on top. It really brought a lovely fruityness to the financier. The yuzu flavor was there alongside the butteryness of the almond cake. All the financiers were done well! Delicious! Recommend trying at least one when you're at this location. Not sure if their financiers are offered at their other locations. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was good. Not terribly friendly, but still answered my questions. Staff were all busy making the drinks. AMBIANCE + SEATS Really large space with rows of tables and chairs. It was strange walking in and seeing various tables and seats to one side and it almost looked like a cafe used as office space. Seeing all the people sitting down on their laptops or talking, as though they're having a casual business meeting there. It was just strange. The tables were mixed wooden tables and chairs. There were long benches too for people waiting for takeout orders. The large space felt so roomy, I get why the tables were all taken. PARKING Street parking is available, yet when I was there in the early afternoon on a Tuesday, it was packed! The only place to park was the paid parking lot right across from Damo. Parking was $5.00. I wouldn't recommend parking elsewhere outside of that street, as it is a sketchy area and lots of homeless encampments around the area. Would I return? Not sure. I like the large, roomy warehouse space with lots of tables to sit in, but the cafe being in a sketchy area gives me hesitation. Not in love with $5.00 parking too. One of my drinks was good, but the other was bad. The only thing I loved was the financiers.

I went with their Iced Cloud Cinnamon Foam latte, and it did not disappoint. The latte is infused with maple-flavored milk and finished with cinnamon, and the combination is absolutely delightful -- ice cold and bursting with flavor from the first sip to the very last. What really sets Tilt apart, though, is the staff. They go above and beyond for every customer, and you can genuinely feel the care they pour into their craft and their service. Whether you're a coffee purist or just looking to try something new, Tilt Coffee is absolutely worth a visit. They just earned a new fan!

Seating is limited, though they do offer a few outdoor tables and a bench inside while you wait for your drinks. The service was great. The employees were friendly, welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. As for the coffee, it unfortunately wasn't my favorite. I tried the Cloud Latte and found it a bit too thick, lacking the smoothness and flavor I was hoping for. I also tried the Cinnamon Cloud, which was smoother but still tasted fairly bitter to me. Coffee preferences are subjective, of course, but the flavor profile just didn't quite hit the mark for me. That said, I enjoyed everything else about the experience and would be willing to come back and try a few different drinks from the menu. The service and ambiance were definitely highlights of the visit.
