It was a pretty good meal for decent price. The byrani with multiple meats was a little short on the meat as were the lamb meals. The rice was flavored well and tasty. The samosas has very good flavor. The mango chutney was surprising good and so were the pakooras. I asked for spicy and it was a little shy of the level I wanted but still good. I'm only giving them 1 star because the curries tasted good. DO NOT get the naan. I've been here twice and both times the naan was hard like a rock. Not at all soft. Also just a warning medium spicy is very spicy so be carful when ordering spice level. They also play horrible music that makes you sleepy and makes the environment feel like a funeral. Nine of us came into Namaste last night and realized we'd forgotten to make a reservation. The woman who sat us quickly made up a large table; she could not have been more accommodating. Two of us had been here before but the great thing about Namaste is there's something for everyone on the menu so it was an easy choice for a large group. Service is excellent, prices are fair and the food is just outstanding. Everyone loved their meals. Nice that dishes can be ordered spicy or not. The only downside: the wine list is forgettable and was there was no brown rice (which I believe they did have the first time we were there, but I could be mistaken). But neither mattered - we still loved it and very much look forward to returning. We appreciated the gracious service. read more

Food 5 stars. Service was challenging tonight. New favorite Indian restaurant in Baltimore. For the food at least. The service, however, was a little slow and inattentive as they are working out the kinks (1 hour to get our food :( ) and they were out of coffee. :/ and our waitress came to our table after we flagged her down, but didn't refill waters though she had the pitcher! Will say that the owner asked how things were, we told him our frustrations, and he comped our dessert and and apologized 20 times. He was wonderful to us and said they were working out the kinks. I can very much appreciate that. And our friends who were with us were on visit 3 and said the previous two visits were great food and decent service, which confirms that the restaurant was having a bad night. Food right up there with Cafe Spice and Ambassador (though I've always felt the latter was a service and location home run and that makes expensive food taste better ;) ). Overall - Namaste is highly recommended and confident based on the response and concern of the owner that we are hopeful the service will improve! read more

The most delicious, incredible Indian and SE Asian food around. The mango lassi and lamb saag are my favorite, and overall the entire menu has been spectacular - having tried it all. As a nearby customer, Namaste has consistently offered me fantastic dinner options and great value for their high-quality buffet. Furthermore, the citar music manages perfectly to relax, but never to distract. This place is an experience, and one worth having again and again. The only critique of it is the time it takes to get your food, which could be better. Some times it comes in a timely fashion, other times you may have to wait for quite a while. Usually, for those getting take out, take out is faster, and you will not have to wait at all. Hopefully they are able to solve this issue. read more

Fantastic. Ordered carry-out a few weeks ago and loved it. Went today to the $10 lunch buffet and tried every thing they offered, other than the tomato soup and iceberg lettuce salad. Saag was good and flavorful, not creamy like most places. Veggie korma was delicious. Chilli chicken was something I'd never seen before, but it was phenomenal. All other dishes were very good, but what you would expect. I will note that all dishes were well spiced (not referring to spicy hot, but instead to seasoning) and very flavorful, more so than some Indian restaurants that dumb down the flavors for Americans. As you can tell, I prefer this higher level of seasoning. Service was attentive and polite. read more

I had heard good things about the food here so came to eat on a Sunday afternoon. It was surprisingly busy which was a good sign that the food would be worth it. However, I will say I was very disappointed in the service. We ordered samosas and the waiter forgot to bring out any chutney. We had to ask three times and ten minutes later we got some. The owner then came up to apologize and asked if we had gotten papad yet and we had not. We didn't realize they give this as a free starter and when we looked around, everyone else had some. It also took so long to get any water refills and our to go containers. The owner did apologize several times (there was another issue going on with a separate guest that caused a delay for everyone else) and I appreciated him recognizing the frustrations. He also gave us free appetizer and dessert. I will say though that the food was OUTSTANDING. One of the best Indian places I've tried in Baltimore. The paneer tikka masala was spicy as requested and the samosas are very flavorful and crispy on the outside. I will be back to try again- I do hope the service was just a fluke. read more

This is a very welcome addition to the Evergreen/Keswick neighborhoods. For those who are not aware, this space that Namaste is in used to be an Americanized Mexican restaurant called Loco Hombre which was connected to Alonso's next door. This goes back to the days when Eddie Dopkin and his Crazy Man restaurant group also owned Miss Shirley's, S'ghetti Eddies (now a parking lot for Miss Shirley's), and RP Bagel Company (now under different ownership). Décor: The first thing you notice when you enter is that you no longer have to go through the Alonso's door to get to the space where Namaste is located. Instead, you enter through a small foyer (so appreciative that the outside door does not open directly into the dining area!). The space itself hasn't been radically reorganized, though there is now a small bar at the back of the room which didn't exist when Loco Hombre occupied the space. I'm pretty sure the light fixtures over the booths are the same, but otherwise the space is filled with earthy tones and South Indian artwork The tables are now also covered in white tablecloths, but the atmosphere remains casual. At the time we went - a weekday lunch - I also noticed that instead of playing an American, bhangra, or Bollywood soundtrack, the background music was trancelike with a distinctly Indian vibe, that would be equally welcome in a yoga studio. Buffet: The other important thing that Namaste has done with the space is to equip it with a lunch buffet, on the right rear of the dining room. While the menu is extensive and includes mainly North Indian and a small amount of Nepali cuisine, the lunch buffet is a good deal at $10 ($7 for kids). When we were there, the buffet included (I may miss an item or two!) lentil soup; a salad and fruit assortment; chutneys and pickles (the mixed pickles make the meal for me); appetizers that included veggie pakoras and various dry fried veggies - eggplant, peppers, cauliflowers among others; saffron rice; and main dishes of potato and cabbage, saag paneer (spinach with farmer cheese), vegetable korma, tandoor chicken, chile chicken, and chicken tikka masala. Rice pudding was offered for dessert, and naan bread was brought to our table when we had filled our plates. All of the dishes were very good, above the quality I would normally expect for a reasonably-priced South Asian buffet in the US, and, for the health-conscious, the food was not greasy like you find at some lower-quality restaurants. I can't say that any one dish stood out to me, though, as the dishes on offer are not ones that I tend to enjoy the most (though they are represented on the menu - love me some bhindi masala, aloo gobi, baingan bharta and dal makhani!). I'll also be interested to try their small section of Nepalese dishes - goat lovers may like to try the goat curry. Regular menu and beverages: Note that the regular menu includes a dozen appetizers as well as tandoori, lamb, and seafood dishes, a half dozen different biryanis and the same number of desserts, about 8 breads, and about the same number of hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages, and a full bar. Beer lovers may want to know that you are not limited to Kingfisher and Heineken, as there are several craft beers available including - wait for it - Dogfish Head's Namaste. Take-out/delivery: Namaste delivers (minimum $15) but if you pick up, you get 15% off your bill. You can also get the buffet for take out, but the discount is not supposed to apply.
